3) Video lectures should total around 20 hours and be broken into 8-10 minute segments. Accompanying text should be around 3000 words per module. Assessments include multiple choice, true/false, and matching questions.

1. Introduction
The Competitive Strategy course aims to equip students with the core concepts, frameworks, and
techniques of competitive strategy. Students armed with this knowledge and ideas will better
understand what managers must do to make an organization achieve superior performance.
Competitive strategy is concerned about running an organisation, i.e. how to plan, manage, lead
and organise its activities to take advantage of market and industry opportunities. It provides the
direction and purpose for an organisation. The course videos and learning materials using various
frameworks and concepts will examine and evaluate companies in domestic and international
markets, employing a range of technologies, and operating within various regulatory and
environmental constraints. During the course students will learn how to analyse company
strategies; they will also learn via the tools of strategic analysis, how to evaluate strategic options
and how to formulate an effective strategy for implementation. The course’s objectives are to:
1. Understand the theoretical and practical issues involved in employing competitive strategy
concepts in organisations.
2. Critically evaluate a number of widely used conceptual frameworks which will be of immediate

• Select a paper which is in high demand and can have
large number of target audience.
• Consult/study the syllabi of several universities before
finalising the syllabus of the concerned subject.
• Come out with a common syllabus, which could be
opted by majority universities/ institutions.

6. Credits, Modules and Duration
• Decide the total number of credits, number of
modules and the duration of the course.
• One credit is equivalent to 13-15 hours of learning
including participating in discussion forums and other
interactions.
• The number of credits may range from 2 to 6. Majority
PG courses have 4 credits per paper. Four credit means
4 lectures per week.

13. Financial Assistance
• UGC gives financial assistance of Rs 13.5 lakhs for
developing MOOC.
• After receiving proposals, UGC shortlists the courses
and asks the course coordinator to prepare one week
modules for which it releases 10% of funds.
• Once the first week module is approved , the Course
Coordinator is asked to prepare the course and 70%
grant is released after the submission of utilization
certificate of 10% funds.
• Remaining 20% is released after the completion of
course.

• The Video duration for the entire course to be about 20
hours for 4 credit course.
• The duration of full one module Video should be 25-30
Minutes (or more), which shall be broken into videos of
about 8-10minutes to engage the students attention
throughout the course.
Video tutorial which will explain the concept of a module, should be
initiated by the teacher with appearances (generally less than
of the total time, not more than 6 minutes) in-between the
section/sub-sections of the topic and the entire topic should be in
video timeline full of graphics, animations, PPT and not merely
the content.

• University logo/name/animation is not permissible in
the MOOCs development, however course coordinator
may use the logo of UGC/MHRD and SWAYAM in their
videos.

18. E-text: doc (document file) or (PDF)
• Textual document should consist of about 3000 words
of detailed write-up on the topic of each module, should
consist of at least 8-10 pages
• The textual description should also be enriched with
multimedia supplements ( images, hand drawings,
maps, graphs etc) wherever applicable.
• Topic should be built in systematic and logical manner.
A summary at the end will help a learner to quickly
review the entire e-text.

• The Content Writer should provide minimum 10-15
questions for each module in one or more of the
