NPTEL is a joint initiative between IITs and IISc that began in 2003 to provide open online courses and resources. It focuses on higher education, professional education, distance education, and continuous learning. The central idea is to record lectures from IIT professors and make them freely available on YouTube so students globally can access them. NPTEL has over 990 courses available for self-learning across various disciplines through video lectures, PDFs, and other files that can be downloaded.

2. • NPTEL is an initiative funded by the Ministry of Human
Resource and Development, Government of India (MHRD)
and coordinated by IIT Madras and other IITs.
• The central idea is to put recorded lectures taught by IIT
professors for a particular courses on its youtube channel
where students across the globe can freely access it.
