UNIAMO FIMR is an Italian association committed to improving the quality of life of people with rare diseases. It represents over 95 member organizations and 600 rare diseases. The "Knowing to Assist" project provided training on rare diseases to Italian doctors to improve diagnosis and care coordination for patients. A pilot course trained 45 general practitioners and pediatricians who then trained other doctors in their regions.
The document discusses a membership meeting held by Eurordis in Amsterdam from May 13-15, 2011. It focuses on providing specialized social services for rare disease patients and integrating rare diseases into social policies. A key topic is the future Joint Action on Rare Diseases, which will address social challenges through a working package on specialized social services. Findings from EurordisCare studies show rare disease families have a high social and economic burden, experiencing lower income, stopping work, and relocating. National conferences highlighted the need to support specialized services and develop national plans or strategies for rare diseases.
The document outlines several healthcare programs provided by the Department of Health in Frankfurt, Germany. It discusses the humanitarian consultation hours that provide anonymous medical treatment and psychosocial support for undocumented African migrants and others without health insurance. It also describes the ambulant delivery program that offers prenatal care to undocumented migrant women for 600 euros in local hospitals. Statistics are provided showing over 650 patients were seen in 2013 across the various programs. Contact information is provided for further information.

"Education of patients (advocates) on R&D: European Patients’ Academy EUPATI", presented by Jan Geissler at the Careum Congress on 18 March 2014 in Basel
This document discusses physician-initiated studies and registries. It notes that physician-initiated studies have advantages in reflecting daily practice and being relatively independent of industry, but may have less data quality if they receive less monitoring. It defines a sponsor as the organization ultimately responsible for a study, and clarifies that physician-sponsored studies can still receive industry funding. The document advises that if industry provides support, they should provide product information and clinical expertise, ensure documents accurately represent sponsorship, and have agreements specifying roles; but should not perform sponsor activities or provide funding beyond what is agreed upon.

Should the Norwegian public prenatal care program include an ultrasound scan ...HTAi Bilbao 2012
The document discusses whether Norway's public prenatal care program should include an ultrasound scan in the first trimester. An expert committee assessed the proposal and found no documented health benefits, but recognized potential benefits like increased patient satisfaction and detecting Down syndrome. The committee recommended including the additional scan after pilot testing to evaluate the economic and priority setting impacts, justifying that it could improve standards and access without significantly increasing costs. The final decision will be made by Parliament.

Presentation delivered by Dr Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe, at the 7th Meeting of the European Advisory Committee on Health Research (Copenhagen, Denmark, 6 April 2016)
This document discusses the intersection of public health and emergency departments (EDs). It outlines that EDs serve as the front line for urgent health issues and provide a unique view of community health trends. The document reviews the history of EDs serving vulnerable populations and their role in disease surveillance. It also examines how EDs can provide preventative services and conduct policy-relevant research. The document advocates for expanding these public health functions of EDs in the future through areas like improved data collection, partnerships, and preventative care best practices.
RMNCH+A approach has been launched in 2013 and it essentially looks to address the major causes of mortality among women and children as well as the delays in accessing and utilizing health care and services. The RMNCH+A strategic approach has been developed to provide an understanding of ‘continuum of care’ to ensure equal focus on various life stages.
The RMNCH+A appropriately directs the States to focus their efforts on the most vulnerable population and disadvantaged groups in the country. It also emphasizes on the need to reinforce efforts in those poor performing districts that have already been identified as the high focus districts.

1) The WHO European Region has seen increasing migration, with over 90 million international migrants in 2017 accounting for 10% of the population. Migrants make up a large portion of the labor force.
2) Migrant and refugee populations face higher risks for certain communicable diseases like HIV and tuberculosis. They also experience higher rates of mental health issues and poorer maternal and child health outcomes.
3) In response, WHO/Europe has established innovative programs in countries like Italy and Turkey to advocate for migrant health, develop policies, provide health information and training, and give technical assistance. They are also working on a global framework to promote refugee and migrant health worldwide.
The document provides a baseline assessment report for an adolescent safe motherhood project in the Philippines. It summarizes that typhoon Haiyan caused massive damage in 2013, leaving thousands dead or displaced. The project aims to ensure adolescent girls have access to sexual and reproductive health services. The baseline assessment examined health facility readiness and services provided to adolescent mothers in January 2015 to document baseline data before the project. It found that facilities lacked private spaces and materials for adolescents. Staff training and documentation of services also needed improvement. The assessment will help guide the project in improving accessibility and quality of maternal healthcare for adolescent girls.

4. National electronic health records (EHR)
• EHR introduced 2014, used by all reception centres by 2016
• EHR used by reception centres not compatible with EHR
used in public/private health sector
• Record linkage challenging
Register analysis, reception centres EHR data 1/2015-12/2016:
• 65% participated in health information session, 42% in health examination;
missing recordings for either of these for 19%
• Systematic coding of visits missing for 60% of the recordings
• EHR data analysis may be biased due to unexpected influx of asylum
seekers in 2015 + EHR used uniformly in reception centres only by 2016

5. Systematic data collection on the health and
wellbeing of asylum seekers (TERTTU Study)
• Random sample: target sample is 1000 adults and children
from the asylum seeker reception register (Umarek)
• Target group: newly arrived asylum seekers
• Face-to-face interview and brief health examination, 1,5h
conducted by bilingual trained research nurses (+interpreter)
• Record linkage with reception centre EHR
• Possibilities of record linkage with national registers for those
who receive a permanent residence (approx. 30% of all who
have applied) will be explored
• The initial health examination for asylum seekers will be
developed based on the main findings of the study
