This document discusses projects aimed at developing open educational resources (OER) through partnerships with publishers. It outlines work to create new business models that allow published materials to be incorporated risk-free into OER, as well as technical development of tools to enable assembling OER collections and sharing metadata about learning resources. The projects are funded through JISC/HEA as part of larger UK OER initiatives.

Research Data Management Initiatives at the University of EdinburghRobin Rice
This paper will discuss the issues involved in exploring university obligations in the area of research data management, while conveying the current state of progress at one institution, Edinburgh. The issues are fairly static – from data ownership and rights to retention and sustainability – but the solutions are a moving target as the research environment and its technologies continue to change, subtly altering what is perceived as possible, feasible, and desirable. The planned University of Edinburgh approach to research data storage and management will be outlined.

Researchers require infrastructures that ensure a maximum of accessibility, stability and reliability to facilitate working with and sharing of research data. Such infrastructures are being increasingly summarised under the term Research Data Repositories (RDR). The project re3data.org – Registry of Research Data Repositories – began to index research data repositories in 2012 and offers researchers, funding organisations, libraries and publishers an overview of the heterogeneous research data repository landscape. In December 2014 re3data.org listed more than 1,030 research data repositories, which are described in detail using the re3data.org schema (http://dx.doi.org/10.2312/re3.003). Information icons help researchers to identify easily an adequate repository for the storage and reuse of their data. This talk describes the heterogeneous RDR landscape and presents a typology of institutional, disciplinary, multidisciplinary and project-specific RDR. Further, it outlines the features of re3data. org and it shows current developments for integration into data management planning tools and other services.
By the end of 2015 re3data.org and Databib (Purdue University, USA) will merge their services, which will then be managed under the auspices of DataCite. The aim of this merger is to reduce duplication of effort and to serve the research community better with a single, sustainable registry of research data repositories. The talk will present this organisational development as a best practice example for the development of international research information services.

Overview of C-SAP open educational resources projectCSAPOER
This presentation showcases, discusses and reflects upon the work of the C-SAP "Open Educational Resources" project. Our project, "Evaluating the Practice of Opening up Resources for Learning and Teaching in the Social Sciences", was part of a pilot programme (funded by the HEA and JISC), which sought to explore issues around the sharing of educational material from a disciplinary perspective. Whilst exploring, with our academic project partners, the principles and issues around releasing educational material (institutional, contractual, administrative), we have also sought to develop some insights into the processes of sharing practice, and look forward to discussing the findings in this forum.
This work presents a data architecture based on semantic web technologies that support to the inclusion of open materials in massive online courses. The framework provides transparent access to RDF data sources for Open Educational Resources stored in OpenCourseWare repositories.

The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
