Appreciation of Craft
My background. @gerrycircus | #CMDub
Why Design Craft Matters.
Why it matters. @gerrycircus | #CMDub
Design Craft is the understanding and the undertaking to balance
the needs of others. Design Craft is ensuring what gets delivered
is for the person using it. Design Craft is knowing what method is
ethically appropriate. Design Craft is Ethics. Design Craft is having
strong social and interpersonal skills. Design Craft is a caring at a
very deep level about the subject and/or problem. Design Craft is
standing up to take action and owning what you do on a day to
day basis. Design Craft is facilitation. Design Craft is integrity and
unwavering belief that Design can change the world. Design Craft
is leadership.
Design Craft is everything. (To me)

opportunities for technological advancement

To qualify this. The above relates to designers with craft in an environment

Let’s make everyone look to Ireland for inspiration about Design.
Your role, right here.
•Talk about where Design sits in the Organisation
•Have the difficult discussions about Design with the person who can
evoke change
•Start a conversation (forward my slides if you like) and find other
champions in other parts of the organisation
•Invite me to come and speak in your office about Design (for free!)
•Understand that it takes time to grow and evoke change
•Finally, I want you all to believe that we all deserve the best services and
we all should fight for this. Don’t accept mediocrity.
@gerrycircus | #CMDub
Thank you!
