A seed fair was held on to the Bangladesh Agricultural University premises from 2-3 February 2011. It was organized by Seed Science Society of Bangladesh and sponsored by seed wing, People Republic of Bangladesh. Total stall was 15. Among them Seed Pathology Center, Department of Crop Botany, IPM Lab participated from BAU, Mymensingh.

1. SEED FAIR 2011
Seed is the basis of both culture and agriculture. The modern life is
based on the basis of seed. It is not only used as food purpose but also
used as ornamental needs, trades, political weapons etc. In general,
fertilized mature ovule containing viable embryo which new plant
generate is called seed. But from the agricultural point of view, any plant
part such as root, leaf, stem, bulb, rhizome etc containing viable
embryo(s) used as propagating unit or the fertilized mature ovule
constituting the genetic potentiality capable of germination to produce
new plants for desired harvest is called seed.
Seed is the unique natural system and vital input of future generation. A
proverb is gone that, “Good seed, good health status of seedling”.
Quality of seed is the precondition of successful crop production. If we
expect the desired harvest we must have ensure the good quality of
seed.
Recently a seed fair was held on to the BAU premises from 2-3 February
2011. It was organized by Seed Science Society of Bangladesh and
sponsored by seed wing, People Republic of Bangladesh. Total stall was
15. Among them Seed Pathology Center, Department of Crop Botany,
IPM Lab participated from BAU, Mymensingh.
The other stall was arranged by BINA, BADC Mymensingh wing,
Mousomi seed company, ACI seed company, Metal seed company etc
are important. The individuals displayed their old and newly released
seed samples and different technologies.

Procedure : Neempata, Biskatali, Basok, Pitraj, Dholkalmi and other
available leaves are chopped and boil in the water. Then it is kept for
cooling. The mouth of the pot might be tight kept for 2-3 weeks in
cooled place. It is sieved for 2-3 times and in plastic bottle. 50 ml of this
suspension will be mixed with 10L water. Then it is ready to spray in the
field. Applied for once in a week in the field.

Seed fair introduce the newly released seeds and technologies to the
farmers and general people. One can easily realize the importance of
seeds.
