The Damaging Impact of Overpopulation on the Environment...
The Damaging Impact of Overpopulation on the Environment
6.5 billion...This is not a whole lot of bacteria, but when it comes to humans, it is a very formidable
number. The human population has been increasing at an extremely high rate in the last century and
unfortunately, not much has been done to slow down this process. Undoubtedly, overpopulation is a
global issue. It is global because it pertains to all of humanity, but global also means that it affects the
whole world, i.e. the environment. Almost all human activities impact negatively the environment in
one form or another, and as human population expands, the damaging effects on the environment
multiply. Here are some of the most imminent environmental problems that results ... Show more

The situation is even worse when it comes to ocean exploitation and pollution. Over fishing changes
the balance in coastal ecosystems and decreases fish populations. Sometimes it might even lead to
extinction of certain marine species. Over fishing also damages coral reefs, because it allows algae to
overgrow them. It turns out that the ocean is the ultimate garbage dump * because eventually all of the
sewage, sediment from forest clearing, fertilizer and pesticide run off flow into it. It is important to
preserve the ocean, not only because it is an important source of food, but also because it plays a
major role in climate regulation. The circulation of cold and warm water protects the earth from
extreme temperature fluctuations. In addition, oceans absorbs between 30 and 40% of the CO2 given
off as a result of human activity, thus keeping global warming at stake.
3. Soil Degradation. Population growth results increases the demand for food production. Since the
arable land in many of the overpopulated regions is limited, farmers begin to cultivate dry, hilly,
nutrient poor areas that are not very suitable for farming. Exploiting such lands makes them easily
susceptible to erosion and loss of nutrients. For example, in search for farmland in Indonesia, peasants
have been planting their crops on steep slopes. As a result, almost one half of Java s land is now in

Use Of Mathematics In Texas Hold Em Poker Game
Thesis: How significant is the use of mathematics in the Texas Hold em Poker Game? How can you
deduce the probability of winning and infer the strategy from your starting hand?
Rationale:
I have decided to focus this math exploration project on the mathematics within the leisure card game
Texas Hold em. On first impression, the outcome of any poker game seems to be entirely arbitrary and
based solely on the player s pure luck. However, after we dismiss the wildy exaggerated poker legends
we see in myriads of television programs and movies, in reality experts in the game of poker who are
just able to have a higher win rate than amateurs do exist. If this game is simple based on random
fortune, there would not be the various competitions held worldwide each year and the game would
have been a lot less interesting. The strategies within poker games consist of two categories,
mathematics and psychology, with the former determining and altering the latter. Therefore, in this
investigation I would seek to explore the factors in the first pre flop that sets the tone for the duration
of the round; how would the initial hand determine what would be advantageous in the flop; and what
distinguishes experts from the amateurs.
Introduction:
Each poker deck has fifty two cards, each designated by one of four suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts and
spades) and one of thirteen ranks (the numbers two through ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace). In the
game Texas Hold em, we can deduce the

ABSTRACT
Wireless communications is, by any measure, the fastest growing segment of the communications
industry. It has captured the attention of the media and the imagination of the public. However, the
fundamental phenomenon which makes transmission unreliable is time varying fading. The
phenomenon is described as the constructive/destructive interference between signals arriving at the
same antenna via different paths, and hence with different delays and phases, resulting in random
fluctuations of the signal level at the receiver. This paper investigates Rake receiver method of
combating fading.
The rake receiver uses a combination of correlators to separately detect M strongest multipath
components, code generators, and delays, or fingers , to spread out the individual echo signals of the
multipath. Each signal is then delayed according to peaks found in the received signal. The rake
receiver uses several sub receivers each delayed slightly in order to tune in to the individual multipath
components. Each component is decoded independently, but at a later stage combined using delay
compensate combiner and MRC dispreading in order to make the most use of the different
transmission characteristics of each

Maximal Oxygen Consumption And The Oxygen
Maximal oxygen consumption or VO2 max refers to the single maximum oxygen consumption that an
individual can utilize during graded intensity exercise. VO2 max can be assessed through properly
administered submaximal oxygen consumption test which can include exercise test modes of
treadmill, cycle ergometer or step test. In an individual, VO2 max can be determined by the
cardiovascular system s ability to deliver oxygenated blood to working muscles and then the muscle s
ability to extract that oxygen from the blood and generate energy for work. Influencing factors can
include genetics, decline of VO2 max with aging, and finally aerobic training can positively influence
an individual s VO2 max and overall aerobic fitness. Individuals with high VO2 maxes often have
greater overall aerobic fitness, which includes high efficiency, or running economy, better glycogen
storage and is often an indicator of success when completing aerobic tasks of over 20 minutes. On the
contrary, a low VO2 max can predict poor overall aerobic fitness which can include cardiovascular
disease and problems with transporting oxygen to working muscles. (3) In these laboratory exercise
test, submaximal intensity exercises were used to determine an individual s predicted VO2 max which
allowed the assessment of their overall aerobic fitness and the ability to compare the correlations
between tests. Before performing any submaximal exercise test, the individual should be in the proper

Advantages Of Oral Chemotherapy
Traditionally, the delivery of most cancer chemotherapies has made use of the intravenous route,
except for a limited number of medications, which were administered orally. However, in recent years,
advances in medical and medicinal biotechnology have produced a surge in the number of targeted
oral chemotherapy medications [1, 2, 3]; these are believed to be safer and less costly. Oral
chemotherapy is also more convenient for patients, families and caregivers because patients can self
administer their medications in the comfort of their own homes with little or no supervision by
relatives or healthcare professionals. Some patients also maintain that self administration gives them a
sense of control over their therapy. [3, 4, 5, 6]
Studies show that patients with metastatic colorectal cancer clearly prefer oral to intravenous therapy
[7, 8], primarily due to convenience, toxicity considerations [7], problems with intravenous lines, and
a better environment for administration. [5] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This confronts clinicians and families alike a new challenge: to ensure patient adherence to medication
instructions. [9, 10] Adherence is defined as the extent to which a person s behaviour taking
medication, following a diet, and/or executing life style changes, corresponds with agreed
recommendations from a health care provider . [11] Patient adherence to the treatment regimen is
paramount for the achievement of the intended therapeutic outcomes. Conversely, non adherence
might increase the potential for medication errors, drug interactions, and additional physician visits; it
may also compromise clinical outcomes. [4, 11, 12, 13, 14] A study by McCowan et al, associates
poor adherence with a shorter time to recurrence and a reduction in quality of life

Bad Habits Developed Over Time
A habit, by definition, is an act which is repeated by a person without the individual being aware that
they are continuously displaying or committing that certain behavior. There are many bad habits a
person can develop over time. Some of these could include having a drug habit, an eating disorder, or
many other undesirable behaviors. These negative habits can all be broken and could lead to positive
outcomes if they were to be broken successfully. Many of the habits considered to be bad require a
person to make specific changes in their life in order to conquer said habit. There are a plethora of
different steps and/or tasks that can be used to assist a person with the daunting task of breaking an
unwanted habit.
One of the first steps that must be completed by a person wanting to end a habit they believe to be
detrimental is to acknowledge the action and to be aware of their situation. In some instances, this
requires the person in question to admit that they exhibit problematic behavior because of the habit
they have. The act of admitting that their actions lead them to repeat negative acts or thoughts because
of their habit is essential to eliminating it. With this in mind, an individual must be aware of an issue
before it can be resolved. Knowing the habit is present and affecting your life in a negative fashion is a
very important step within this process.
Many people have different things in their lives that they would like to change. A step that could be
used

Red Death Allegory
The Masque Of The Red Death is an allegory that explains that people are sometimes greedy and
selfish. The first symbol is the seven rooms. I think that is a symbol because each room has a different
color and has very different decor. The rooms start out as blue, purple, green, violet, white, and the last
is blood red. I think that the rooms symbolize the different stages in which you go through when you
die. In the story nobody wants to enter the last room because it reminds them of the Red Death. The
second symbol I chose was the Masquerade held by the Prince and everyone he brought to the castle
was invited. Everyone was having a good time and most of the costumes were very creepy and scary.
After a while people started to notice that there

numbers exemplify how physically inactive our country has become in recent years. Another
contributing factor that causes weight gain and obesity is television watching. Children who have

results were improvements in body mass index (BMI), body fat, and other obesity related measures for

Comparing The Balconey Scene In Romeo And Juliet
The balconey scene in romeo and juliet is a well remembered scene in romeo and juliet. Although,
there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balconey scene
between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many
similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie
and the script. Some key details in the play are that romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is stalking
juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balconey near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on a
balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie
version, some key details are that romeo is hidden kind of on a vine, not so much hidden thought.(You
can see in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck
and a pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differnces
between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticible difference is that the setting is a lot
different. In the script, the setting is on the balconey, and is definetly a way less modern version,
almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back
porch with a pool. This takes away the whole cliche love scene in the original script, and as i feel takes

What type of language should I take?
When travelling on safari, baggage should be kept to a minimum since you will be using a chartered
aircraft from Nairobi to Masai Mara. This should be in soft duffle bags as opposed to hard suitcases in
order to fit in the baggage compartment on small aircraft. Most internal flights allow a limit up to

The Values Of Michelangelo Buonarroti s Reputance
Reputation is an opinion about entity (a person, a social group, an organization), typically a result of
social evaluation on a set of criteria. Also, reputation may be considered as a component of identity as
defined by others [ ]. This essay will talk about a very famous Italian Renaissance artist, considering
the circumstances in which such artist had established his reputation. The essay intends to explain the
values of the Renaissance era and their qualities, and then to apply this knowledge specifically to the
reputation of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet.

His work received traditional criticism as irreligious in terms of its emphasis on the naked human
body; since it is presented not as a religious figure but as a real human. His frescos and paintings
contained many completely naked characters. In response to such uncommon arts, Roman Catholic
Cardinal accused him of immorality and obscenity. The extreme concern for preserving morals led the
Cardinal to call for a campaign to have the work removed or censored. Michelangelo was also
criticized for his artistic choices, including his emphasis on the physical rather than the spiritual
element.
In many ways, the Michelangelo style was considered by others frivolous because instead of the focus
on religion or the social concerns, the subjects were often contemporaries exploring humanism which
was not accepted in Italy at that time. In fact, most of his paintings including David were considered

think differently. The princess in Donkeyskin, though being the optimal choice of a bride for the king
for being wise and accomplished, is not as overtly clever and wise as the princess in All Kinds of Fur.
The princess, referred to as All Kinds of Fur, is solely responsible for her choices and actions, coming
only from her own savvy brain. Horrified by her father s incestuous demands, All Fur seeks her own
counsel. (Marshall 409). Firstly she contrives the seemingly impossible tasks that she sets upon her
father, including having him obtain one dress golden as the sun, one as silvery as the moon, and one as
bright as the stars (Grimm, All Kinds of Fur ) and a mantle of a thousand different kinds of fur and
hair (Grimm, All Kinds of Fur ). Secondly, All Kinds of Fur makes, and acts upon, the decision to run
away, disguised by her mantle of furs, before having to marry her father. Thirdly, All Kinds of Fur
cooks up the idea to place three of her golden trinkets, a ring, a spinning wheel, and a reel, into the
three cakes she is told to make for the king, and by this action she catches the attention of the king.
The princess, referred to as Donkeyskin, however, is clearly the definition of a damsel in distress. Not

Safety Handbook
Introduction
Safety is the state of serenity being devoid of harm or any form of event that may be considered non
desirable. In any type of institution, be it, a business, school, industry, laboratory or even the common
workplace, safety plays a major role in ensuring activities run smoothly and no one gets hurt while
doing their job. Safety encompasses protection from a wide host of potential hazards which could be
physical, financial, emotional or biological. In the common workplace health is a major concern and
infection control is the main aim of a safety handbook. Biosafety in the work setup starts by assuming
every individual is a potential source of infection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

items should not be shared e.g. razors, toothbrushes, towels or clothing. B. Cleanliness: The
workplace should be kept clean by carrying out scheduled cleaning procedures on a regular basis. Spot
cleaning should also be done when necessary. Disinfectants should be utilized when cleaning up
bodily fluids e.g. blood. Wash floors and surfaces with a mixture of warm water and detergent
regularly while walls and ceilings should be cleaned periodically. Special procedures involving
isolation of area, wearing protective attire, disinfecting using chlorine for 10mins,irrigation with
water, washing with hot water and detergent followed by drying should be followed when dealing
with bodily fluid spillage. C. Disposal of Waste: During disposal of possible contaminated infectious

The Book Of Duchess Essay
Metaphorically using the game of chess to describe the loss of a loved one in The Book of Duchess,
Chaucer argues that love is nothing but a game and it all depends on how well you play it. We only see
the mention of a chess twice in this poem, in the beginning For me thoughte it better pley, Than pleyen

therefore, we get a sense that maybe our dreamer isn t someone who either understands the game or
cares very much for it, making it harder to understand it. The second time we see chess being is when
Chaucer mentions the man in black. The man in black has lost his lady love to fortune, in a game of
chess. Therwith Fortune seyde, Chek

Venus Bust Analysis
For my project, I have recreated a bust of Venus. A bust is a sculpture of a person s head, shoulders,
and chest. This allows you to include very intricate details and helps you achieve a goal in realism.
There were many sculptures of Venus in ancient Rome, including the Venus Genetrix, meaning
Mother Venus in Latin. I chose to create a bust so I could, too, focus on the intricate details, though
my version is very small, it might have been less accurate had I done the Venus Genetrix. Venus busts
like this one have been used for many garden decorations and household decorations in general.
The sculpture I chose to recreate is a bust of Venus. Venus is the goddess of love, prosperity, fertility,
victory, and beauty. Her greek form is Aphrodite. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was actually hard in this way not to find Greek artwork, but since Venus is a Roman goddess, this
was a good choice for me. The Romans didn t believe that a recreation of a work of art was any less
valuable than the first piece of art. We disagree with this today, but they added slight modifications to
their recreations. Roman art liked to recreate Greek art with those slight modifications, like recreating
bronzes (some of which are now lost) in marble. Some variations could be something other than
medium, though. Sometimes the purpose was to add a bit of humor! This added a lot of Roman to
Greek art, which was originally somber and serious. The Romans used a variety of media in their
artwork. Some include marble, painting, mosaic, gems, silver and bronze work, terracottas, and more!
The original bust that I chose to recreate is made of reconstituted resin, but I chose air dry clay to
finish faster and to have a close model to the original bust.
The Roman Republic was also a great year for Roman Art. Lots of art was produced then because of
the many things happening in the republic and in the military. While this idea is not portrayed in the
bust, the equestrian statue honoring a military hero or civic leader was an idea created by the Romans.
Lots of things happened in this period of time, the start and fall of the Roman republic, and the
beginning of the peaceful period of time we know as the Pax

Theories Of Structuralism In Literature
Structuralism and its different approaches to literature Structuralism was developed in France in 1950
s as an approach of reading literary texts. Structuralism seeks to understand that no element can be
understood separately. It attempts to understand a work of art in the context of the larger structures
they are part of. Structuralism is a way of thinking and activities which is chiefly concerned with the
perceptions and descriptions of structures. In this regard, Terence Hawkes says:
The full significance of any entity cannot be perceived unless and until it is integrated into the surface
of which it forms a part.1
One can derive from Terence Hawkes view that structuralism would refer to a system or body of
principles which is derived from the belief that any phenomenon is a structure made up of ... Show

Griemas work Structural Semantic (1966) is an important work of structuralist narratology. He
develops structural semantics based on Saussaure s notion of binary opposition which he has called
structural semiotics. For Griemas there always exists opposition to generate meaning. He declares that
there are various sematic units that work in opposition. He called these as seme. And meaning comes
out in the opposition between semes, for example, old/young; black/white; boy/girl etc. These semes
function as actants (structural unit, neither a character nor a specific narrative event) to produce
narrative. Griemas semes are based on Saussurean notion that form the basic formula, the rules and
the underlying structure of language (langue). The semes express themselves as narrative and plots
and stories in contexts (parole). Thus the semes in different combinations are stated in particular
contexts to generate stories in particular contexts. In literary theory, the basic structure of the
production of meaning through binary opposition is called signification. We often find the dual
opposition or semes in a text or any piece of

The American people are following the popular things on the social media and not truly knowing the
credentials of author of any articles. People can hide themselves through social media and write
anything that without backing it up. A wolf can use sheep s clothing in the social media so therefore
the American people must be aware of that. Politics for the common man and women is a lot of work
to stay informed and life is so full of uncreditable information. The American people sometimes see
the Goliath issues that threaten our nation, the constant fight of evil and the snarling realities of people
that are in opposition to a biblical worldview of current events. Wicked people sought to suppress and
control access to the truth of the Bible, which sounds familiar. Men and women were under vigorous
persecution for merely translating a written Bible. Their work hurt no one and yet, these Christians
were treated as criminals and persecuted even under the American government. The establishment
church can be a politician s greatest enemy, the very people that should have been in support.

Rational, Non-Emotional, Reasoning Process
The final doubt questions whether our sufferers can even partake in a rational, non emotional,
reasoning process. The question then is going to revolve around if our sufferers can actually do a
proper cost benefit analysis. Four aspects make up a cost benefit analysis. They are calculating
benefits, costs, the probability of success, and comparing analyses to one another. Our sufferers should
be able to compare, but the other three are in doubt. When attributing costs and benefit, there is both a
logical part, and emotional part. It seems like they can do the logical part, but as we just showed, our

Our sufferers may cause harm to others, but would be unable to understand that this causing of harm is
both a cost for themselves and the agent whom they harmed. They are really separate from the costs in

should really be. Now, onto the probability of success, we see that our sufferers and their egoistic
personalities get in the way of truly understanding how they likely they will be able to achieve their
ends. Their egoistic nature causes our sufferers to believe that they can accomplish anything, as their
skills are just so great that nothing could stop them. But this false. Obviously, it s not the case that I

An Analysis Of Gregory Mobley s The Return Of The Chaos
Chaos: the state of the universe before there was order and before stars and planets were formed
(Merriam Webster). As defined, this state of disarray existed before existence of life itself was even
possible. Hence, the chaos was a precursor for the opportunity of a higher being to take control of the
universe. This is where the Old Testament comes into play in the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth. From that point on, the plot thickens as the characters battle to find order hidden
amongst worldly turmoil. Throughout the Old Testament, each character struggled with the underlying
issue of making meaning from the chaos of experience, the human condition (Mobley 2). However,
many fail to realize that these people and plot twists of the biblical stories commonly reoccur time
after time throughout history. In The Return of the Chaos Monsters and other backstories of the Bible,
Gregory Mobley exhibits how the 7 backstories have been strikingly similar to other infamous stories.
His underlying theme of proving this connection between biblical stories and stories passed on since
then was well supported by his method of close inspection of the text from peculiar perspectives.
Overall, Mobley effectively conveys the duo of order and chaos in order to explain how the Old
Testament functions as a storybook through the use of modern day examples and a conversational
writing style that made the book enjoyable to read. At first, I was unfamiliar with a book title that

The Pros And Cons Of Advertisement
As decades pass, advertisement and marketing methods are constantly evolving. Companies will lure
buyers in with methodical discrete messages that are unrecognizable to readers. They will use a person
s morals or values to attract their attention and create ingenious perspectives on common standards of
the time period. Even children toy advertisements have underlying meanings; companies pay close
attention to the smallest details and make sells by evoking a child to nag their parents to purchase their
product. Like many toy companies, Fisher Price created a magazine ad in the 1980 s that displayed a
shift in the typical roles of men and women in a household. Fisher Price released an appealing
advertisement in 1987 for their Magic Vac, a battery free toy vacuum for children to enjoy. The main
focal point of the ad is the illustration of the boy vacuuming the house while the girl sits in a chair
reading a newspaper with her shoes off. Prior to the 1980s, the emblematic standard for women was to
take care of the house and raise the children while the husband worked during the day. In the 80s,
women began working outside of the home and bringing in an income, this did not make them inferior
to their husbands, but it did make some men uncomfortable. They were uncertain about the idea of
their wife working and splitting household duties. Normally, men would come home from work and
sit in their recliners with their feet propped up and shoes off reading the newspaper; the wives

concern about the children and their health regarding meat bacteria, and the fat content of the food. He
also mentions how potato farmers, cattle ranchers, and chicken raisers are suffering from the industry

Instead of these managers looking out for their workers, they try to hide the injuries, and will give
injured employees easier jobs until they are healed, if they agree to not visit the doctor. They feel the
need to hide minor injuries because a supervisor must meet production goals, keep the number of
recorded injuries low, and most importantly, keep the meat flowing down the line without interruption
(Schlosser 175). The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is responsible for
inspecting meatpacking plants and making sure they are operating and functioning properly. The old
OSHA policy was that, there were 1,300 inspectors and over 5 million workplaces to be looked at. The
employers would expect an inspection about every 80 years (Schlosser 179). Now, for an inspection to
even be done, the factories injury rate must be higher than the national average. There is a slim chance
of that happening because the records are kept by the companies officials, since the have direct control
on the number of injury reports. Schlosser brings up an interesting statement about OSHA s policy
when he says they did indeed reduce the number of recorded injuries in meatpacking plants. It did not,
however, reduce the number of people getting hurt. It merely encouraged companies, in the words of a
subsequent congressional investigation, to understate

Pharmaceutical Companies Stand in the Way of Treatment Abstract This casebook concentrates on the
negative effects that the pharmaceutical industry s trade and production policies have on third world
nations suffering from disease epidemics. My position is that pharmaceutical companies are not
concerned with the health benefits of their drugs, but rather with the market that their drugs generate. I
illustrate this notion by describing the trade policies that pharmaceutical companies influence and the
pharmaceutical companies production policies which concentrate on producing life style drugs rather
than drugs that cure life threatening diseases. Multinational pharmaceutical giants are occupied with

This Blessed House Analysis
Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many

begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house, Sanjeev wants to throw them

More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he
does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming
housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with
his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says
that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his
money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of

Hospital problems are reduced because when job security exists, the employees, like shareholders, are
concerned about the long term success of the firm. With the commitment from the Hospital for job
security, application of laws becomes a relationship that both the employer and employee has to

Application of Laws
Many employers are required to develop affirmative action plans (AAPs) that identify problem areas

problems. Memorial Hospital is no different. Memorial follows all laws on sex/gender discrimination,

Another practice is the introduction of fishing quotas (Costello et al. 2008). These are put in place to
ensure a limit in fishing and that the catch of the day is distributed according to the shares each person
holds in a fishery. This policy will enable controlled fishing (Solliman, 2014). Endangered species of
marine ecosystems can also be restored in an artificial way. This is a practice that ensures all species
will coexist in many years to come. Through this practice different species are introduced in a new
habitat. Here they are mingled with native species. This enables a specific ecosystem to have variety
of different species. It is this practice that ensures predators do not run out of food. Another policy that

public aware of the new laws in place to protect marine conservations. It could also introduce new

key practice that has been overlooked. Many times tourists and locals get to have fun in the oceans

David Moser Why Chinese Is So Damn Hard
Comments on David Moser s Why Chinese is so damn hard
This essay is going to discuss the article Why Chinese is so damn hard by David Moser. In the article,
Moser employed a humorous tone to point out nine reasons why Chinese is challenging for adult
foreigners like himself to learn and why Chinese is difficult itself. In the following paragraphs, I am
focusing on one of the arguments Moser proposed Chinese s writing system just ain t very phonetic ,
and will present my opinions on the wordings he used and the presentation of the issue.
In his article, Moser stated Chinese not being phonetic is one of the reasons why westerners find it
difficult to learn it. He pointed out that in English, there are at least some correspondences between
sound and spelling. It helps non native speakers learning the language. However, in Chinese, save
those with radical and phonetic components, there are no clues at all for readers. The author also
demonstrated his experience of learning French, which is a phonetic language. He heard the word
amortisseur from the radio several times and he recognised it on a sign by because the sounds he
constructed when reading the word is the same. One reinforces the other, as he described the learning
process. Yet, when he was in Taiwan, he could not read the word on the sign as there were no
indications of sound, or Moser said phonetically mute. The example shows how it is easier to study
phonetic languages than the others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limited Liability Company
Answer 1
Limited liability refers to a condition whereby in a company limited by shares, on insolvent
liquidation, liability of members to make up for the shortfall is limited. Limited liability along with
separate legal personality is widely regarded as a means to encourage entrepreneurship by allowing
business investors to separate personal and corporate assets.
Driven by the advantages of limited liability, today, new limited liability forms of business

Based on my understanding of case law, it is reasonable for courts to lift the corporate veil if special
circumstances exist. Conversely, there are some cases which at first instance may appear as justifiable
for lifting the veil, when in reality they are not.
To begin with, the circumstances which call for courts to lift the veil include the application of evasion
principle. The courts may disregard the corporate veil if a defendant has exploited the corporate
structure to evade obligations enforced on him by law or if the defendant tries to evade rights that
third parties already have against him.
In both cases, Gilford Motor Co. Ltd v Horne and Jones v Lipman, the Courts called for lifting the veil
of incorporation against the defendants, for evading an existing legal obligation to the plaintiffs by

Canine Bone Development And Developmental Diseases
Canine bone development and developmental bone diseases are of growing interest to researchers and
consumers. In order to produce healthier canines and to reduce the incidence of diseases commonly
found in canines, it is important to understand what bone development is and how it occurs, factors
that influence bone development, and developmental diseases. Development can be defined as a series
of changes that takes place in an animal beginning in the embryonic state and lasting until maturity.
These changes lead to a more complex organizational state of the body, starting with simple cellular
organization and leading to formation of body systems.
Ossification Mechanisms
Intramembranous ossification and endochondral ossification are the types of bone development that
occur during fetal development. Intramembranous ossification is the formation of flat bones (i.e,
cranial bones). The first stage of this type of ossification is the formation of an ossification center in
the fibrous connective tissue membrane. The ossification center is formed by mesenchymal cells
differentiating into osteoblasts. The osteoblasts then secrete osteoid into the fibrous membrane and is
subsequently mineralized. As the osteoid accumulates, it is laid down between fetal blood vessels,
forming woven bone. The vascularized osteoid then condenses and forms the periosteum. The final
stage of intramembranous ossifcation is the formation of the the bone collar in compact bone and the
formation of red

Summary Of Ain T No Makin It By Jay Macleod
The achievement ideology is the belief encompassed by many people in the United States that suggest
if you work hard, you will climb the ladder of social and economic success. In the novel Ain t No
Makin It, Jay MacLeod discusses some contrasting views of this ideology between two groups of
lower class Americans living in the same public housing project. One group, the Brothers, are mostly
African American, while the other group, the Hallway Hangers, are mostly Caucasian. The Brothers
grow up in homes with parents who strictly enforce the power of education and have slightly stable
jobs, while the Hallway Hangers grow up in homes where their parents are often not present and do
not value the power of education. These beliefs translate through ... Show more content on

Ultimately, the two groups end up with jobs that are not too different from one another, exemplifying
the faults in the achievement ideology. Throughout their whole lives, the Brothers consistently feel
that their limited success is a reflection of their own shortcomings and has nothing to do with the
flawed class or racial systems. They recognize the systems put in place to help lower class people of
color excel, including free public education and affirmative action, but do not realize that this is not
enough to overcome their limited cultural capital and unstable economic foundations. This also
contributes to the Brothers intersectionality, or their analysis of how factors such as race, gender, and
class interact to shape their life chances. The intersectionality of the Hallway Hangers, on the other
hand, is restricted to the core idea that no matter what they do, they can ever escape the social binds of
the lower class. This intersectionality also falls into place with the idea of habitus, studied by Pierre
Bourdieu. Habitus describes how one sees themselves and where they fit in life. The Hallway Hangers
permanently see themselves in the lower class, while the Brothers aim for higher aspirations. While
the Brothers exhibit a higher quality of life and ultimately have less regrets and legal repercussions,
they end with careers that are not much

Australian Family Law
The aim of Australia s family law while responding the ever changing values of society, is to achieve
justice in any activity it undertakes. The success of this is valued and determined by whether any
significant action has been taken as a result, and what the effects of such actions are on improving the
situations of all parties involved. The effectiveness of family law on changing values cannot be
determined when regarded as a whole. However, when broken down into certain values, such as in the
topic of best interest of the child during separation and the issue of surrogacy, it can be seen that
Australia s family laws are not effective in levelling with the community s changing values.
The family laws efficacy in an ever changing topic of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The procedures of surrogacy is a delicate and sensitive topic which raises many concerns in the public.
As a result of this, Australian laws and courts of law must allow and regulate these practices to make it
safe for all involved. Commercial forms of surrogacy agreements are illegal in most states, shown in
Part 2, Division 2 in the Surrogacy Act 2010 NSW and Chapter 4 Part 1 in the Surrogacy Act Qld.
However, in remaining jurisdictions, couples are allowed to deal in commercial agreements and
therefore often turn to an overseas arrangement. It is here where Australian law becomes more obscure
and less regulated. In any arrangement including altruistic surrogacy, there are no enforceable laws on
the agreement, hence prompting multiple issues regarding the parentage of the child. When the child is
born from the gestational carrier the birth mother and father, according to the Status of the Children
Act 1996, are the legal parents. It is when the intended parents apply for a parenting order and
accepted by the birth mother that the child s parentage is transferred this situation is set out in the case

The Damaging Impactof Overpopulation on the Environment... The Damaging Impact of Overpopulation on the Environment 6.5 billion...This is not a whole lot of bacteria, but when it comes to humans, it is a very formidable number. The human population has been increasing at an extremely high rate in the last century and unfortunately, not much has been done to slow down this process. Undoubtedly, overpopulation is a global issue. It is global because it pertains to all of humanity, but global also means that it affects the whole world, i.e. the environment. Almost all human activities impact negatively the environment in one form or another, and as human population expands, the damaging effects on the environment multiply. Here are some of the most imminent environmental problems that results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The situation is even worse when it comes to ocean exploitation and pollution. Over fishing changes the balance in coastal ecosystems and decreases fish populations. Sometimes it might even lead to extinction of certain marine species. Over fishing also damages coral reefs, because it allows algae to overgrow them. It turns out that the ocean is the ultimate garbage dump * because eventually all of the sewage, sediment from forest clearing, fertilizer and pesticide run off flow into it. It is important to preserve the ocean, not only because it is an important source of food, but also because it plays a major role in climate regulation. The circulation of cold and warm water protects the earth from extreme temperature fluctuations. In addition, oceans absorbs between 30 and 40% of the CO2 given off as a result of human activity, thus keeping global warming at stake. 3. Soil Degradation. Population growth results increases the demand for food production. Since the arable land in many of the overpopulated regions is limited, farmers begin to cultivate dry, hilly, nutrient poor areas that are not very suitable for farming. Use Of MathematicsIn Texas Hold Em Poker Game Thesis: How significant is the use of mathematics in the Texas Hold em Poker Game? How can you deduce the probability of winning and infer the strategy from your starting hand? Rationale: I have decided to focus this math exploration project on the mathematics within the leisure card game Texas Hold em. On first impression, the outcome of any poker game seems to be entirely arbitrary and based solely on the player s pure luck. However, after we dismiss the wildy exaggerated poker legends we see in myriads of television programs and movies, in reality experts in the game of poker who are just able to have a higher win rate than amateurs do exist. If this game is simple based on random fortune, there would not be the various competitions held worldwide each year and the game would have been a lot less interesting. The strategies within poker games consist of two categories, mathematics and psychology, with the former determining and altering the latter. Therefore, in this investigation I would seek to explore the factors in the first pre flop that sets the tone for the duration of the round; how would the initial hand determine what would be advantageous in the flop; and what distinguishes experts from the amateurs. Introduction: Each poker deck has fifty two cards, each designated by one of four suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades) and one of thirteen ranks (the numbers two through ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace). In the game Texas Hold em, we can deduce the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rake Receiver MethodOf Multipath Fading Reduction RAKE RECEIVER METHOD OF MULTIPATH FADING REDUCTION S.D Dayo1, K.O Egbo2, 1Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho. 2 Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State ABSTRACT Wireless communications is, by any measure, the fastest growing segment of the communications industry. It has captured the attention of the media and the imagination of the public. However, the fundamental phenomenon which makes transmission unreliable is time varying fading. The phenomenon is described as the constructive/destructive interference between signals arriving at the same antenna via different paths, and hence with different delays and phases, resulting in random fluctuations of the signal level at the receiver. This paper investigates Rake receiver method of combating fading. The rake receiver uses a combination of correlators to separately detect M strongest multipath components, code generators, and delays, or fingers , to spread out the individual echo signals of the multipath. Each signal is then delayed according to peaks found in the received signal. The rake receiver uses several sub receivers each delayed slightly in order to tune in to the individual multipath components. Each component is decoded independently, but at a later stage combined using delay compensate combiner and MRC dispreading in order to make the most use of the different transmission characteristics of each ... Maximal Oxygen ConsumptionAnd The Oxygen Maximal oxygen consumption or VO2 max refers to the single maximum oxygen consumption that an individual can utilize during graded intensity exercise. VO2 max can be assessed through properly administered submaximal oxygen consumption test which can include exercise test modes of treadmill, cycle ergometer or step test. In an individual, VO2 max can be determined by the cardiovascular system s ability to deliver oxygenated blood to working muscles and then the muscle s ability to extract that oxygen from the blood and generate energy for work. Influencing factors can include genetics, decline of VO2 max with aging, and finally aerobic training can positively influence an individual s VO2 max and overall aerobic fitness. Individuals with high VO2 maxes often have greater overall aerobic fitness, which includes high efficiency, or running economy, better glycogen storage and is often an indicator of success when completing aerobic tasks of over 20 minutes. On the contrary, a low VO2 max can predict poor overall aerobic fitness which can include cardiovascular disease and problems with transporting oxygen to working muscles. (3) In these laboratory exercise test, submaximal intensity exercises were used to determine an individual s predicted VO2 max which allowed the assessment of their overall aerobic fitness and the ability to compare the correlations between tests. Advantages Of OralChemotherapy Traditionally, the delivery of most cancer chemotherapies has made use of the intravenous route, except for a limited number of medications, which were administered orally. However, in recent years, advances in medical and medicinal biotechnology have produced a surge in the number of targeted oral chemotherapy medications [1, 2, 3]; these are believed to be safer and less costly. Oral chemotherapy is also more convenient for patients, families and caregivers because patients can self administer their medications in the comfort of their own homes with little or no supervision by relatives or healthcare professionals. Some patients also maintain that self administration gives them a sense of control over their therapy. [3, 4, 5, 6] Studies show that patients with metastatic colorectal cancer clearly prefer oral to intravenous therapy [7, 8], primarily due to convenience, toxicity considerations [7], problems with intravenous lines, and a better environment for administration. Bad Habits DevelopedOver Time A habit, by definition, is an act which is repeated by a person without the individual being aware that they are continuously displaying or committing that certain behavior. There are many bad habits a person can develop over time. Some of these could include having a drug habit, an eating disorder, or many other undesirable behaviors. These negative habits can all be broken and could lead to positive outcomes if they were to be broken successfully. Many of the habits considered to be bad require a person to make specific changes in their life in order to conquer said habit. There are a plethora of different steps and/or tasks that can be used to assist a person with the daunting task of breaking an unwanted habit. One of the first steps that must be completed by a person wanting to end a habit they believe to be detrimental is to acknowledge the action and to be aware of their situation. In some instances, this requires the person in question to admit that they exhibit problematic behavior because of the habit they have. The act of admitting that their actions lead them to repeat negative acts or thoughts because of their habit is essential to eliminating it. With this in mind, an individual must be aware of an issue before it can be resolved. Knowing the habit is present and affecting your life in a negative fashion is a very important step within this process. Comparing The BalconeyScene In Romeo And Juliet The balconey scene in romeo and juliet is a well remembered scene in romeo and juliet. Although, there are different versions of it in different movies and plays. I m comparing the balconey scene between the original script and the 1997 movie. There are a lot of differences, with not as many similarities. It seems as a more modern day version... There are some key details in both the movie and the script. Some key details in the play are that romeo hides in the darkness, and that he is stalking juliet in a way. It also takes place on a balconey near the streets, [Seeing Juliet enter above on a balcony] (Act II Scene 2, Page 71) which is a lot more in older days than modern. In the movie version, some key details are that romeo is hidden kind of on a vine, not so much hidden thought.(You can see in the 1997 movie, Romeo + Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann.) The setting is also on a deck and a pool. Those are some of the key details you will need to know. Now, I will explain the differnces between the original script and the movie. One pretty noticible difference is that the setting is a lot different. In the script, the setting is on the balconey, and is definetly a way less modern version, almost like a cliche love scene. In the 1997 movie, the setting isn t even on a balcony, it is on a back porch with a pool. The Values OfMichelangelo Buonarroti s Reputance Reputation is an opinion about entity (a person, a social group, an organization), typically a result of social evaluation on a set of criteria. Also, reputation may be considered as a component of identity as defined by others [ ]. This essay will talk about a very famous Italian Renaissance artist, considering the circumstances in which such artist had established his reputation. The essay intends to explain the values of the Renaissance era and their qualities, and then to apply this knowledge specifically to the reputation of Michelangelo Buonarroti, the Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet. His work received traditional criticism as irreligious in terms of its emphasis on the naked human body; since it is presented not as a religious figure but as a real human. His frescos and paintings contained many completely naked characters. In response to such uncommon arts, Roman Catholic Cardinal accused him of immorality and obscenity. The extreme concern for preserving morals led the Cardinal to call for a campaign to have the work removed or censored. Michelangelo was also criticized for his artistic choices, including his emphasis on the physical rather than the spiritual element. In many ways, the Michelangelo style was considered by others frivolous because instead of the focus on religion or the social concerns, the subjects were often contemporaries exploring humanism which was not accepted in Italy at that time. All-Kinds-Of-Fur Fashion, Incest, andFur, in All Kinds of Fur and Donkeyskin Donkeyskin, by Charles Perrault, and All Kinds of Fur by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, are both stories about a princess who runs away from her kingdom because of the king s desire to marry her, despite the fact that the marriage would be incestuous. In Donkeyskin, the king is overtly powerful and wealthy, and much of his wealth is obtained by his Master Donkey, who excretes gold. The princess, referred to as All Kinds of Fur, is solely responsible for her choices and actions, coming only from her own savvy brain. Horrified by her father s incestuous demands, All Fur seeks her own counsel. (Marshall 409). Firstly she contrives the seemingly impossible tasks that she sets upon her father, including having him obtain one dress golden as the sun, one as silvery as the moon, and one as bright as the stars (Grimm, All Kinds of Fur ) and a mantle of a thousand different kinds of fur and hair (Grimm, All Kinds of Fur ). Secondly, All Kinds of Fur makes, and acts upon, the decision to run away, disguised by her mantle of furs, before having to marry her father. Thirdly, All Kinds of Fur cooks up the idea to place three of her golden trinkets, a ring, a spinning wheel, and a reel, into the three cakes she is told to make for the king, and by this action she catches the attention of the king. Venus Bust Analysis Formy project, I have recreated a bust of Venus. A bust is a sculpture of a person s head, shoulders, and chest. This allows you to include very intricate details and helps you achieve a goal in realism. There were many sculptures of Venus in ancient Rome, including the Venus Genetrix, meaning Mother Venus in Latin. I chose to create a bust so I could, too, focus on the intricate details, though my version is very small, it might have been less accurate had I done the Venus Genetrix. Venus busts like this one have been used for many garden decorations and household decorations in general. The sculpture I chose to recreate is a bust of Venus. Venus is the goddess of love, prosperity, fertility, victory, and beauty. Her greek form is Aphrodite. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was actually hard in this way not to find Greek artwork, but since Venus is a Roman goddess, this was a good choice for me. The Romans didn t believe that a recreation of a work of art was any less valuable than the first piece of art. We disagree with this today, but they added slight modifications to their recreations. Roman art liked to recreate Greek art with those slight modifications, like recreating bronzes (some of which are now lost) in marble. Some variations could be something other than medium, though. Sometimes the purpose was to add a bit of humor! This added a lot of Roman to Greek art, which was originally somber and serious. The Romans used a variety of media in their artwork. Some include marble, painting, mosaic, gems, silver and bronze work, terracottas, and more! The original bust that I chose to recreate is made of reconstituted resin, but I chose air dry clay to finish faster and to have a close model to the original bust. The Roman Republic was also a great year for Roman Art. Lots of art was produced then because of the many things happening in the republic and in the military. While this idea is not portrayed in the bust, the equestrian statue honoring a military hero or civic leader was an idea created by the Romans. Lots of things happened in this period of time, the start and fall of the Roman republic, and the beginning of the peaceful period of time we know as the Pax ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories Of StructuralismIn Literature Structuralism and its different approaches to literature Structuralism was developed in France in 1950 s as an approach of reading literary texts. Structuralism seeks to understand that no element can be understood separately. It attempts to understand a work of art in the context of the larger structures they are part of. Structuralism is a way of thinking and activities which is chiefly concerned with the perceptions and descriptions of structures. In this regard, Terence Hawkes says: The full significance of any entity cannot be perceived unless and until it is integrated into the surface of which it forms a part.1 One can derive from Terence Hawkes view that structuralism would refer to a system or body of principles which is derived from the belief that any phenomenon is a structure made up of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Griemas work Structural Semantic (1966) is an important work of structuralist narratology. He develops structural semantics based on Saussaure s notion of binary opposition which he has called structural semiotics. For Griemas there always exists opposition to generate meaning. He declares that there are various sematic units that work in opposition. He called these as seme. And meaning comes out in the opposition between semes, for example, old/young; black/white; boy/girl etc. These semes function as actants (structural unit, neither a character nor a specific narrative event) to produce narrative. Griemas semes are based on Saussurean notion that form the basic formula, the rules and the underlying structure of language (langue). The semes express themselves as narrative and plots and stories in contexts (parole). Thus the semes in different combinations are stated in particular contexts to generate stories in particular contexts. In literary theory, the basic structure of the production of meaning through binary opposition is called signification. We often find the dual opposition or semes in a text or any piece of ... An Analysis OfGregory Mobley s The Return Of The Chaos Chaos: the state of the universe before there was order and before stars and planets were formed (Merriam Webster). As defined, this state of disarray existed before existence of life itself was even possible. Hence, the chaos was a precursor for the opportunity of a higher being to take control of the universe. This is where the Old Testament comes into play in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. From that point on, the plot thickens as the characters battle to find order hidden amongst worldly turmoil. Throughout the Old Testament, each character struggled with the underlying issue of making meaning from the chaos of experience, the human condition (Mobley 2). However, many fail to realize that these people and plot twists of the biblical stories commonly reoccur time after time throughout history. In The Return of the Chaos Monsters and other backstories of the Bible, Gregory Mobley exhibits how the 7 backstories have been strikingly similar to other infamous stories. His underlying theme of proving this connection between biblical stories and stories passed on since then was well supported by his method of close inspection of the text from peculiar perspectives. Overall, Mobley effectively conveys the duo of order and chaos in order to explain how the Old Testament functions as a storybook through the use of modern day examples and a conversational writing style that made the book enjoyable to read. The Pros AndCons Of Advertisement As decades pass, advertisement and marketing methods are constantly evolving. Companies will lure buyers in with methodical discrete messages that are unrecognizable to readers. They will use a person s morals or values to attract their attention and create ingenious perspectives on common standards of the time period. Even children toy advertisements have underlying meanings; companies pay close attention to the smallest details and make sells by evoking a child to nag their parents to purchase their product. Like many toy companies, Fisher Price created a magazine ad in the 1980 s that displayed a shift in the typical roles of men and women in a household. Fisher Price released an appealing advertisement in 1987 for their Magic Vac, a battery free toy vacuum for children to enjoy. The main focal point of the ad is the illustration of the boy vacuuming the house while the girl sits in a chair reading a newspaper with her shoes off. Prior to the 1980s, the emblematic standard for women was to take care of the house and raise the children while the husband worked during the day. In the 80s, women began working outside of the home and bringing in an income, this did not make them inferior to their husbands, but it did make some men uncomfortable. They were uncertain about the idea of their wife working and splitting household duties. Normally, men would come home from work and sit in their recliners with their feet propped up and shoes off reading the newspaper; the wives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is responsible for inspecting meatpacking plants and making sure they are operating and functioning properly. The old OSHA policy was that, there were 1,300 inspectors and over 5 million workplaces to be looked at. The employers would expect an inspection about every 80 years (Schlosser 179). Now, for an inspection to even be done, the factories injury rate must be higher than the national average. There is a slim chance of that happening because the records are kept by the companies officials, since the have direct control on the number of injury reports. Pharmaceutical Companies Standin the Way of Treatment Essay Pharmaceutical Companies Stand in the Way of Treatment Abstract This casebook concentrates on the negative effects that the pharmaceutical industry s trade and production policies have on third world nations suffering from disease epidemics. My position is that pharmaceutical companies are not concerned with the health benefits of their drugs, but rather with the market that their drugs generate. I illustrate this notion by describing the trade policies that pharmaceutical companies influence and the pharmaceutical companies production policies which concentrate on producing life style drugs rather than drugs that cure life threatening diseases. Multinational pharmaceutical giants are occupied with producing drugs that yield the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this is not necessarily true. Western governments are usually generous about funding drug industry research. These governments also allow the drug companies to market discoveries and new drugs that are produced in government and university laboratories. The most expensive aspect of producing a drug is the pre clinical research, which is performed by the government and universities, not the drug companies. The Academic Search Premier on the Penrose Library website was the most useful research tool. Since this casebook topic covers an international concern that is current and at stasis, it was necessary to use current journal articles in attaining reliable and up to date information. The process of inquiry and acquiring information about this topic delineated the necessity of examining several different sources and being a critical reader. In analyzing different sources of information, it was crucial to note the validity and reliability of the source; many times it was useful to analyze both sides of an issue in order to gain a balanced understanding of the topic at issue. In 2001, the discovery of three letters containing anthrax spores caused widespread panic that swept across the US. Thousands of people flocked to clinics to be tested for possible infection and hundreds were affected by the shutdown of workplaces and public facilities. Though only a ... This Blessed HouseAnalysis Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a newlywed Indian American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home together. As Twinkle begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house, Sanjeev wants to throw them all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they will look if they display these Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have fun in presenting her discoveries. More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of success, and despite it not making him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is attempting to perform a fixed role that he does not fit into well. Sanjeev s actions and mentality in This Blessed House reflect upon his performance and acting to fulfill a character of the American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, employment security may help align the interests of employees and Hospital partners. Hospital problems are reduced because when job security exists, the employees, like shareholders, are concerned about the long term success of the firm. With the commitment from the Hospital for job security, application of laws becomes a relationship that both the employer and employee has to manage. Application of Laws Many employers are required to develop affirmative action plans (AAPs) that identify problem areas in the employment of protected class members and initiate goals and steps to overcome those problems. Memorial Hospital is no different. Memorial follows all laws on sex/gender discrimination, which have addressed issues regarding pregnancy discrimination, unequal pay for similar jobs, and sexual harassment. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that most employers identify the essential functions of jobs and make reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities, unless undue hardship results. Implementation of equal employment opportunity requires appropriate record keeping, such as completing the annual report (EEO 1), and keeping applicant flow data. Below is the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII and what it covers. I have also included some additional information that fall under the umbrella of the Civil Right Act of 1964, ... Endangered Species OfMarine Ecosystems be put in place. These practices are to be put in place to ensure control of overfishing (Eilperon, 2006). Another practice is the introduction of fishing quotas (Costello et al. 2008). These are put in place to ensure a limit in fishing and that the catch of the day is distributed according to the shares each person holds in a fishery. This policy will enable controlled fishing (Solliman, 2014). Endangered species of marine ecosystems can also be restored in an artificial way. This is a practice that ensures all species will coexist in many years to come. Through this practice different species are introduced in a new habitat. Here they are mingled with native species. This enables a specific ecosystem to have variety of different species. It is this practice that ensures predators do not run out of food. Another policy that should be put in place is the reiteration of fisheries law. This law has been neglected over the years and is rarely taught in law schools. It is the duty of a new international marine convention to make the public aware of the new laws in place to protect marine conservations. It could also introduce new laws to deal with upcoming problems such as overfishing due to population increase. Education is a key practice that has been overlooked. Many times tourists and locals get to have fun in the oceans with absolutely zero knowledge on what damage they could cause sea life. Education on marine conservation needs to start with anyone and most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

David Moser WhyChinese Is So Damn Hard Comments on David Moser s Why Chinese is so damn hard This essay is going to discuss the article Why Chinese is so damn hard by David Moser. In the article, Moser employed a humorous tone to point out nine reasons why Chinese is challenging for adult foreigners like himself to learn and why Chinese is difficult itself. In the following paragraphs, I am focusing on one of the arguments Moser proposed Chinese s writing system just ain t very phonetic , and will present my opinions on the wordings he used and the presentation of the issue. In his article, Moser stated Chinese not being phonetic is one of the reasons why westerners find it difficult to learn it. He pointed out that in English, there are at least some correspondences between sound and spelling. It helps non native speakers learning the language. However, in Chinese, save those with radical and phonetic components, there are no clues at all for readers. The author also demonstrated his experience of learning French, which is a phonetic language. He heard the word amortisseur from the radio several times and he recognised it on a sign by because the sounds he constructed when reading the word is the same. One reinforces the other, as he described the learning process. Yet, when he was in Taiwan, he could not read the word on the sign as there were no indications of sound, or Moser said phonetically mute. The example shows how it is easier to study phonetic languages than the others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advantages And DisadvantagesOf Limited Liability Company Answer 1 Limited liability refers to a condition whereby in a company limited by shares, on insolvent liquidation, liability of members to make up for the shortfall is limited. Limited liability along with separate legal personality is widely regarded as a means to encourage entrepreneurship by allowing business investors to separate personal and corporate assets. Driven by the advantages of limited liability, today, new limited liability forms of business organizations have emerged. One of these is known as the Limited Liability Company (LLC), a hybrid entity designed to combine the tax advantages of partnership with the benefits of limited liability. The law makes efforts to control the worst excesses or irresponsible behavior to curb possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on my understanding of case law, it is reasonable for courts to lift the corporate veil if special circumstances exist. Conversely, there are some cases which at first instance may appear as justifiable for lifting the veil, when in reality they are not. To begin with, the circumstances which call for courts to lift the veil include the application of evasion principle. The courts may disregard the corporate veil if a defendant has exploited the corporate structure to evade obligations enforced on him by law or if the defendant tries to evade rights that third parties already have against him. In both cases, Gilford Motor Co. Ltd v Horne and Jones v Lipman, the Courts called for lifting the veil of incorporation against the defendants, for evading an existing legal obligation to the plaintiffs by interposing a ... Canine Bone DevelopmentAnd Developmental Diseases Canine bone development and developmental bone diseases are of growing interest to researchers and consumers. In order to produce healthier canines and to reduce the incidence of diseases commonly found in canines, it is important to understand what bone development is and how it occurs, factors that influence bone development, and developmental diseases. Development can be defined as a series of changes that takes place in an animal beginning in the embryonic state and lasting until maturity. These changes lead to a more complex organizational state of the body, starting with simple cellular organization and leading to formation of body systems. Ossification Mechanisms Intramembranous ossification and endochondral ossification are the types of bone development that occur during fetal development. Intramembranous ossification is the formation of flat bones (i.e, cranial bones). The first stage of this type of ossification is the formation of an ossification center in the fibrous connective tissue membrane. The ossification center is formed by mesenchymal cells differentiating into osteoblasts. The osteoblasts then secrete osteoid into the fibrous membrane and is subsequently mineralized. As the osteoid accumulates, it is laid down between fetal blood vessels, forming woven bone. The vascularized osteoid then condenses and forms the periosteum. The final stage of intramembranous ossifcation is the formation of the the bone collar in compact bone and the formation of red ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of AinT No Makin It By Jay Macleod The achievement ideology is the belief encompassed by many people in the United States that suggest if you work hard, you will climb the ladder of social and economic success. In the novel Ain t No Makin It, Jay MacLeod discusses some contrasting views of this ideology between two groups of lower class Americans living in the same public housing project. One group, the Brothers, are mostly African American, while the other group, the Hallway Hangers, are mostly Caucasian. The Brothers grow up in homes with parents who strictly enforce the power of education and have slightly stable jobs, while the Hallway Hangers grow up in homes where their parents are often not present and do not value the power of education. These beliefs translate through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, the two groups end up with jobs that are not too different from one another, exemplifying the faults in the achievement ideology. Throughout their whole lives, the Brothers consistently feel that their limited success is a reflection of their own shortcomings and has nothing to do with the flawed class or racial systems. They recognize the systems put in place to help lower class people of color excel, including free public education and affirmative action, but do not realize that this is not enough to overcome their limited cultural capital and unstable economic foundations. This also contributes to the Brothers intersectionality, or their analysis of how factors such as race, gender, and class interact to shape their life chances. The intersectionality of the Hallway Hangers, on the other hand, is restricted to the core idea that no matter what they do, they can ever escape the social binds of the lower class. This intersectionality also falls into place with the idea of habitus, studied by Pierre Bourdieu. Habitus describes how one sees themselves and where they fit in life. The Hallway Hangers permanently see themselves in the lower class, while the Brothers aim for higher aspirations. While the Brothers exhibit a higher quality of life and ultimately have less regrets and legal repercussions, they end with careers that are not much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Australian Family Law Theaim of Australia s family law while responding the ever changing values of society, is to achieve justice in any activity it undertakes. The success of this is valued and determined by whether any significant action has been taken as a result, and what the effects of such actions are on improving the situations of all parties involved. The effectiveness of family law on changing values cannot be determined when regarded as a whole. However, when broken down into certain values, such as in the topic of best interest of the child during separation and the issue of surrogacy, it can be seen that Australia s family laws are not effective in levelling with the community s changing values. The family laws efficacy in an ever changing topic of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The procedures of surrogacy is a delicate and sensitive topic which raises many concerns in the public. As a result of this, Australian laws and courts of law must allow and regulate these practices to make it safe for all involved. Commercial forms of surrogacy agreements are illegal in most states, shown in Part 2, Division 2 in the Surrogacy Act 2010 NSW and Chapter 4 Part 1 in the Surrogacy Act Qld. However, in remaining jurisdictions, couples are allowed to deal in commercial agreements and therefore often turn to an overseas arrangement. It is here where Australian law becomes more obscure and less regulated. In any arrangement including altruistic surrogacy, there are no enforceable laws on the agreement, hence prompting multiple issues regarding the parentage of the child. When the child is born from the gestational carrier the birth mother and father, according to the Status of the Children Act 1996, are the legal parents. It is when the intended parents apply for a parenting order and accepted by the birth mother that the child s parentage is transferred this situation is set out in the case of Re Michael ...
