Describe a person who helps others in his
or her spare time
Please Say:-
• Who this person is?
• How often this person help others?
• How this person helps others?
• Why this person helps others?
• How do you feel about this person?
Human is a social animal and every individual is indulged into some or the
other deeds. Everyone has their own way of helping others.
Here I would like to talk about my grandfather who used to be a teacher. It was the
time of that era when there was no technological advancement. He was a school
teacher and was very fond of imparting knowledge to others. Although he used to do
the government’s job, he never took advantage of that thing. He used to teach his
students wholeheartedly, whether it was at school or at home. He never took any fees
from his pupils for extra classes which he used to provide them after school. He always
used to say that a candle loses nothing by enlightening other candles. We used
to live in a rural area where we used to have very
fewer amenities and there used to be no lights in
the evenings so he used to teach them during the
day and that too without taking a single penny.
Despite having huge farmland and various other
sources of income, he was very keen to do the
teaching job. Every evening he used to provide
tuitions to his students whether they were from his
school or not and that too every age and level’s
pupil. Today, he is a grey-haired retiree person
still has that similar zest and zeal to teach others
and is very famous amongst youth for his teaching
techniques. He teaches advanced level pupils with the help of digitalization and in free
time, to the street children. He is doing the noblest deed ever. In my perception,
nobody is there like him. I think God has put all his eggs in one basket, whenever I see
him. Since he is an octogenarian he is so energetic.
All in all, I would say that he is the nicest person I have ever seen in my life.
Discussion Questions
1. Do people nowadays help others more than in the past?
Ans: No, I really don’t think so. Earlier, people used to be generous and obliging who
were considerate to the others as if they are their own family members. Whereas, these
days, people are more money-minded and egotistical with no social bondings.

2. Who should teach children to help others?
Ans: I consider it the fundamental duty of the family, especially grandparents, to
inculcate these moral values in their children. Apart from them, the teachers are also
responsible for molding them into better human beings by providing the opportunities to
help others in the school.
3. In what kind of jobs do people help others more?
Ans: The professions like teaching, healthcare sector, defense, social works etc. lay the
strong foundation of a safe, secure and civilized society. This is done by lending their
hands to indigent or deprived people and by putting their best foot forward to ensure
their welfare as well.
4. Why are some people willing to help others?
Ans: This is the basic character trait of some individuals that they are compassionate
and altruistic. They cannot watch others in harsh conditions and leave no stone
unturned when it comes on doing something for them.
