Demonstration is an effective teaching method that involves showing how something is done while emphasizing its merits. There are three types of demonstrations: demonstrating a new product to promote it, activists demonstrating to air grievances, and a teacher demonstrating a teaching strategy. Effective demonstrations require establishing rapport, avoiding assuming prior knowledge, highlighting key points, planning objectives and materials, rehearsing steps, keeping it simple, checking for understanding, and summarizing. Good demonstrations are audio-visual, not just talking, and require adequate preparation and planning of goals, materials, steps, and rehearsal.
