Democracy is derived from Greek words meaning "people" and "power", referring to a government where power lies with the people. Key features of a democracy include decisions being made by elected representatives, free and fair elections where incumbents could lose, and all adult citizens having equal say. In contrast, non-democratic governments do not have elected rulers accountable to the people, no freedom of expression or rights, and impose elections if held. While few nations were democratic in 1900-1950, the number increased by 2000 as democracy spread globally. Myanmar gained independence in 1948 but the military seized power in 1962, refusing to recognize election results even after Aung San Sui Kyi's party won in 1990, depriving people

This book is written in the hope that Thai people will understand that their beloved country has serious divergences in its way of thinking philosophically and politically. What is the cause of this divergent
ideology? Thailand should aspire to be politically democratic with a constitutional monarchy. How can Thai people assist in correcting the problems of corruption by politicians and government officers, including the judicial system, which has many standards that seriously
divide Thai society?

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

democracy
1. Democracy is derived from the greek
words – ‘demos’ and ‘cratia’.demos
means ‘people’ and cratia means
‘power’.Thus democracy is a government
in which the power lies in hands of people.
What is
2. In a democracy the final decision
making power must rest with
those who elected by the people.
A democracy must be based on a
free and fair election where those
currently in power have a fair
chance of losing.

Features of Democracy
3. DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT NON DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT
Democracy is the best form of
government as the rulers are
accountable to the people and
have to fulfill their needs.
The rulers are not accountable
to the people and their needs
In democratic govt people elect their
rulers and have right in decision
making.
The parliament is a separate body
and has no interference of army.
People do not elect their rulers and
have no right in decision making.
The parliament cannot pass a law
about the army without the consent
of the chief of army.
4. Democracy is based on consultation
and in democratic govt people enjoy
their right of discussion.
There are free and fair elections.
Elections offer a choice and fair
opportunity to the people to change the
current rulers.
Non democratic govt is based on
dictatorship. The ruler does what he
wishes.
In a democratic government elections
are either not held and if held they are
not fair enough rather they are imposing.
There is a freedom of expression
and people enjoy their fundamental
rights.
Example- India
There is no freedom of
expression and people do not
enjoy their fundamental rights.
Example- Saudi Arabia
6. Myanmar is located to the east of India and west of
China, as well as a widespread border with Thailand to
the south. Laos and Bangladesh also share relatively
small borders with Myanmar.. Myanmar is located south
the Plateau of Tibet, to the west of the Indochina
Peninsula, and north of the Malay Peninsula. The capital
of Myanmar is Yangon or otherwise known as Rangoon.
MYANMAR
7. • Myanmar gained freedom from colonial rule in 1948
and become democracy. But the democratic rule ended
in 1962 with a military coup.In 1990 elections were
held for the first time after almost 30 years.
• Aung San Sui Kyi won the election.
• The military put the elected pro-democracy leader,
including Sui Kai under house arrest.
• The military leaders of Myanmar refused to stop
down and not recognize the election results.
Struggle for
democracy
8. The great in Myanmar has taken all rights from the people and
about 6-10 lakh people have taken shelter in other countries.
Universal adult franchise does not exist in the country i.e. the right
to vote is given to a limited number of people with some specific
qualification.
Legislatures are either dissolved or suspended and they do not
function.
Only people with some specific qualification can contest elections.
Freedom of speech press and association is censored. Newspapers
are mostly state owned and contain limited news. No one can
question the ruling party.
Denial of basic rights by military
9. conclusion
Nations are becoming more democratic than they were earlier,
International organisations are becoming less democratic.
Twenty years ago there were two big powers in the world: the US and the
Soviet Union.
The competition and conflict between these two big powers and their allies kept
a certain balance in all the global organisations.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union,
The US appears to be the only superpower in the world.
This American dominance affects the working of international organisations.
