There are different forms of democracy, including direct democracy, representative democracy, presidential democracy, and parliamentary democracy. In a direct democracy, all citizens vote on all issues, while in a representative democracy citizens elect officials to vote on issues for them. A presidential democracy has a separately elected president and legislative branch, while a parliamentary democracy has the legislative branch appoint the prime minister.
