Democracy
Government by the people; a form of
government in which the supreme power is
vested in the people and exercised directly by
them or by their elected agents under a free
electoral system.
Democracy originated more than 2,400
years ago in ancient Greece.
The principle purpose of democracy is not just
establishment of democratic government by being
able to vote but the actual idea is of protection and
promotion of the rights, interests, and welfare of
people.
