2. :: VITAMIN C ::
• It is water soluble, thermostat and easily
oxidisable.
• Can not store in body so excess is excreted
soon.
• It can not synthesized in body, so has to be
sourced with food.

3. FUNCTIONS : (VITAMIN C) :
• Speed up wound healing
• Formation of collagen and chondroitin
• Help for RBC formation in bone marrow.
• Act as antioxidant, slow down progression of
atherosclerosis.

4. • Foods with high Vitamin C include :
1. Citrus fruits, Lemon, Amla, Papaya,
pineapple, kiwi,
2. Vegetables, spinach, cabbage,
cauliflower,
3. Animal source has poor Vit C

• Poor dietary intake : Malnutrition
• Chronic illness : institutionalized patients
• Condition of vitamin C deficiency is known as
Scurvy.

and chondroitin sulphate is impaired.
