NAF has a strategy to expand in California by opening more academies in various regions of the state. Their priorities include opening 9 more academies in Los Angeles and 17 more statewide in the next two years. They also want to develop an academy certification system tied to California's curriculum standards and strengthen partnerships with organizations throughout the state. The new NAF curriculum will include two projects per course, be inquiry-based, and promote rigor and relevance. It will also be aligned with national and California standards and include elements promoting 21st century skills. NAF is considering components for a certificate program including passing course tests, completing a portfolio of projects, and completing an internship. An advisory board will help support these efforts at various levels
