2. Coverage, Shots and Takes
In this music video there are very few specific shots as they are very repetitive but
these shots are taken in a slow manner to follow the rhythm of the music. Most of the
shots are taken in one smooth take but the editor cut them into short bits to make the
music video more interesting. All the hosts were taken in the same location as the
narrative to the whole music video takes place in one place.
3. Scenery Panning
The shot in this scene shows the scenery of the location.
The first shot shows the scaffolding.
The second shot shows the contents.
The third shows pebbles on the floor.
4. David & The Girl
In this scene there are several cuts of David
and the girl swapping from one to another.
Basically david is on one side of the room
that they are filming in and the girl is on the
other side up on the scaffolding. But the
camera work has a dynamic angle where it
is not as clear to see.
In one of the shots, they took a long smooth shot of
david walking to string it together with the next shot in
order to make it seamless. This helps with the editing
and helps make the shot seem more effective.
5. High & Low
The longshot portraying the girl up on the
scaffolding and David below is to emphasize
the reach which he needs to go to. the
camera steadily pans up on the scene which
further emphasizes the reach. This helps
create a more cinematic effect and helps the
narrative move in a steady tempo.
6. Panning Left and Right
Throughout the majority of the music video shots of
David’s face panning left and right pop in a lot of the time
which helps highlights the artist and tries to emphasize
the words that comes out of his mouth by following the
movement of his face
7. Balloons
The shots featuring the balloons are all fixed angles
and the focus of the lens varies as well. These
scenes is the main standing point of the narrative of
the music video and thus the scene stays stationary
the majority of the time. The variable focuses helps
with the soft tone of the song as it steadily changes.
8. Fast Hands
Fast cuts of the girl’s hands grabbing the strings of
the balloon. The fast transition helps with the interval
of the music video.
