OverseaspurchasesofedibleoilintheyearstartingNovemberaresettosurgetoarecord13milliontonnes,anexecutiveatkeyimporterRuchiSoyasaid,aslowerprices,risingpopulationandhigherincomesboostconsumption.HigherpurchasesbyIndia,theworld'stopimporterofcookingoils, couldsupportbenchmarkMalaysianpalmoilfuturesthathitafive-yearlowearlierthismonthandhaveshedalmostafifthoftheirvaluesofarin2014.Oftheestimatedtotal2014/15Indianimports,morethan9milliontonneswillbepalmoil,India'sbiggestedibleoilbuyer,Inthecurrentyear,edibleoilimportsarepeggedat11.6milliontonnes,including8milliontonnesofpalmoil.Indiaimportedarecord10.4milliontonnesofedibleoilsinthe2012/13year,datafromMumbai-basedindustrybodySolventExtractors'AssociationofIndia(SEA)showed.
NCDEX,theleadingcommodityexchange,todayannouncedthelaunchoftheForwardssegmentonitsnationallevelelectronicplatform.NCDEXisthefirstandonlycommoditiesexchangetoofferexchange-tradedForwardcontractsinthecountry.ThecontractwillbeavailablefromThursday,25thSeptember,2014.Namedfarmer-friendly''AgrimSauda’’,thisfacilitywillofferthebenefitsoftransparenttradepracticesandnationalmarketreachthroughregisteredFarmerProducerOrganization.AgrimSaudawillenableallparticipantsinthefoodandagriculturevaluechaintowidentheirreach,createaseamlesssupplychainthatisbackedbystate-of-the-arttechnologyandprotectthemselvesfromcounter-partyrisk.Inshort,itsintroductionwillleadtoanintegrationofcommodityecosystemleadingtoamoredevelopedandefficientagriculturemarket.
Chanapriceshavedeclinedonimportsofyellowpeasandcomfortablesupplies.PriceshavedeclinedoverthelastfewmonthsonsluggishdemandinthephysicalmarketscoupledwithrecordChanaoutputin2013-14.ChanaOctoberfuturesshoweddeclined0.39%to2788onWednesdayatIndia'sNationalCommodity& DerivativeExchange(NCDEX).Lowerleveldemandaswellasfestivebuyingmaysupportprices.However,higherimportsofyellowpeas,comfortableChanastocksandbetterthanexpectedkharifpulsessowingmaykeeppricesundercheck.sowingofkharifpulsesason18thSeptemberstands7.1%lowerat10.01mnhaasagainst10.77mnhalastyear.CCEAincreasedtheMSPofturanduradbyRs.50toRs.4,350each,whiletheMSPofmooingwasincreasedbyRs.100toRs.4,600/qtl.SuppliesofChanasincepastoneyearhasbeenampleasthecountryreapedbumperChanaoutputin2012-13season.For2013-14too,thegovernmentintheirfourthadvanceestimateshasprojectedrecordoutputofat9.88mntonnesintheRabiseason.
Profittakingwasseenincastorseedfutureduetostrongkharifsowingalongwithweakexportdemandofcastormealinlocalmandis.TheNCDEXfuturestotest4050-4055levelsinthenearterm.ThelatestdatareleasebyMinistryofAgriculturestatedthatcastorseedkharifoilseedshavebeensownonlyon5.52lakhhectarescomparedwith4.89lakhhectareslastyear.ThiswasmainlyduetostrongsowinginGujarat.Therefore,possibilityofhigherproductionestimateshaveencouragedstockiestsellingfromhigherlevels.Thepriceswerealsopressurizedbyweakexportdemandofcastormealinlocalmandies.TheSolventExtractors'AssociationofIndiaoverallexportofoilmealsduringJuly2014isreportedat0.20lakhtonscomparedto0.25lakhtonsinJuly2013i.e.down4percent.
