COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF GEOMETRIC DESIGN OF HIGHWAY USING AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D AN...IRJET Journal
This document compares the geometric design of a highway in India using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MX ROAD software. It describes the process of importing survey data, creating horizontal and vertical alignments that meet design criteria, developing cross-sectional elements, and generating earthwork quantities. The methodology used in both software programs is explained through flowcharts and screenshots. The results show that MX ROAD estimated slightly higher earthwork volumes compared to AutoCAD Civil 3D. While both programs are suitable for road design, AutoCAD Civil 3D is considered more user-friendly with style-driven objects and single tools for alignment editing. MX ROAD requires more specialized string-based modeling knowledge and separate alignment and profile geometries.
