the field of highway engineering, leads team of engineers and designers on overseas engineering
business and responsible for project planning, design, management, acquirement of new projects and jobs

Summary: This study developed a traffic accident/crash frequency prediction model based on the
geometric and highway appurtenance condition(s) on rural highways. The data were collected on four
lane road of Belgaum-Dharwad section from Km 433.0 to Km 515.0 of NH-4 in the State of Karnataka.
The accident prediction model has been developed by multiple linear regression analysis.
The common geometric influencing factors are carriageway width, entrances/exits, vertical curvatures,
horizontal curvatures, sight distance, service road, road roughness index & junction on the four-lane
highways. The developed model in this study is helpful for the design of safe highways. Additionally, it
will contribute to identifying the potentially hazardous locations for highways already in service and
contribute to the treatment of safety improvements.

The accident prediction model has been developed by multiple linear regression analysis.
