2. Professional experience
2008–2012 Huntsman Advanced Materials Switzerland GmbH (chemical company), CH-Basel
(June) Role: Head of Basel Site Communications
Company: Huntsman is a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals for a variety of
global industries, such as automotive, aviation and textiles. In 2011, Huntsman had 12,000 employees and
revenues of USD 11+ bn. In the context of the restructuring in Basel, my position was transferred to China.
Responsibilities: (reporting to the Head of Communications, Advanced Materials Division):
– Swiss site communications: Acting as the focal point for all communications pertaining to the Basel site;
supporting communication at the Monthey site; providing comprehensive
communication advice and support for the Swiss Leadership Team;
– Employee communications: Managing all Intranet- and email-based global multi-lingual newsfeeds;
supporting the divisional leadership in all publication matters;
– Ethics & Compliance (E&C): Supporting the corporate Ethics & Compliance Team by providing concepts
and implementation of global E&C campaigns; managing the corporate
E&C Intranet; developing innovative employee survey tools;

multi-channel employee awareness campaigns; and I recreate the corporate E&C Intranet from scratch.
– 2009: In anticipation of an overall redesign, I develop a concept for a more effective Intranet. Amongst
other things, I initiate, conceive and successfully implement a general overhaul of all global newsfeeds.

Role: Head of Communication
Company: Being part of the Siemens VDO Automotive Group, the firm is world leader in telematics soluti-
ons for public transport fleets. Ca. 550 employees worldwide; sales of ca. EUR 80 m. Clients: ca. 150 public
transport companies world-wide. As of 2008, the firm belongs to the Continental Corporation.
Responsibilities (reporting to the CEO):
– Corporate communication: PR/media relations; press officer; Internet; corporate design management;
– Marketing communication: International newsletter; content for the industry press; papers for congress
speakers; concepts for trade shows; business development support;
– Advertising management: Planning, creating and producing image and product ad campaigns;
– Internal communication: Managing CEO communication and Intranet news section;
– CEO support: Board meetings; executive briefings; presentations; ghost/speechwriting.
Most relevant achievements:
– 2007: As Siemens is selling their automotive Group VDO to Continental, I am appointed as a member of
the integration team to oversee all communication activities on a segment level.
– 2006/07: As Siemens VDO divests its fleet telematic business, I successfully oversee all communication.
Affected sites are in 15 countries; ca. 180 employees are either transferred or made redundant.
– 2005: After Siemens has won the biggest contract ever awarded in the local public transport sector (Lon-
don Bus Services, contract value: GBP 100 m), I successfully manage international communication.
– 2005: As the two hitherto independent Siemens VDO entities in Switzerland are merged into one regional
organization, I direct all communication to be implemented by a multi-sites project team.

Company: Market leader in control systems for public transport in German-speaking Europe. Ca. 250 em-

Most relevant achievements: In Spring 2001, it is decided to merge the two existing locales (ca. 60 km
apart) in Neuhausen as of fall 2002. Thanks to my effective advice, the resulting media coverage is mainly
positive to neutral. This facilitates the recruitment of new specialists; and the potential brain drain can be
contained. This contributes to maintaining both continuity and productivity before and after the relocation.
1993–1998 Softadweis AG (software engineering), CH-Neuhausen
Role: Responsible for communication
Company: Sub-contractor for Häni-Prolectron AG; develops software solutions for public transport. Ex-
periences rapid growth in the nineties, from approximately 20 to almost 100 employees. As of April 1998,
