Organic Architecture for Immersive AR, VR, and Mixed Reality DesignJordan Higgins
Immersive technologies like augmented, virtual, and mixed reality are creating new intersections between the physical and digital worlds, and as digital experience designers and architects it is essential that we start to think beyond the screen. In this session we’ll explore lessons learned by studying immersive design at Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece residence built on a waterfall. Wright coined the term “organic architecture” to describe a philosophy in which the environment and physical structures become a combined, unified experience. Topics covered will include how all of seven of our senses are engaged by our environments (including two senses we generally don’t consider in traditional UX design), learning to see the world and sketch like an architect, and techniques for low-fidelity physical prototyping that can substantially accelerate our production workflows. Whatever our role in crafting digital content, we have the opportunity to pioneer this new frontier, and learning fundamental concepts and techniques of architecture will help us design for physical and virtual environments that in turn become impactful and memorable experiences.
Developers are looking for venues to present at these days for the education of the community and betterment of their career. Motivational Dynamics in Health Behavior Change v2 - 2014Dustin DiTommaso
Despite the wealth of technology-assisted advances in healthcare, human behavior continues to be the cause of great variance in health-related outcomes. Our health and well-being are vigorously affected by lifestyle factors such as physical activity, diet, or smoking as well as self-care activities like medication adherence and condition management.
Recognizing these behavioral mediators of health outcomes suggests that we pay closer attention to patient experience and motivation. If we want to create the conditions under which people are most likely to initiate and sustain behaviors conducive to health and well-being, we need to better understand the dynamic nature of motivation and design experiences that support patient needs for autonomy, competence and relatedness.
Just as no change is possible without action, no action is possible without motivation and as you’ll find in this talk, patient needs satisfaction and their quality (not quantity) of motivation are critical to the success of any behavior change intervention.

Workshop Activating Creativity THE HR challenge for the coming years by Ale...Alexander Crépin
It is time to take advantage of the creative potential in your organisation. You could offer employees and stakeholders a positive perspective. Adding value by creation of new customer value.
In the end companies won't succeed by focus on spending cuts, at a certain moment there is nothing more to cut. Success can’t do without creativity & innovation.
Besides this we have to transform global economies to sustainability. This is only possible if we use all the creative potential in our society.
For HR activating creativity, becoming cre-active is a great opportunity to improve business results. Becoming a real Business Partner, focussing on actively adding value to the business process.

Monica's talk from http://uxbrighton.org.uk/UX-for-kids/ examines the different techniques used while working with children as design partners in the design of technology. Dressing up, mixing ideas, Playmobil and Lego are great tools for generating new design ideas. Colouring pens, stickers and cardboard mockups of devices are great tools to create low-fidelity prototypes.
In this lecture, I changed the format and invited my class to learn form playing games and exercises to boost creativity. The students loved these games, and participated enthusiastically in this format of learning!
This 36 pages free eBook is a collection of 17 practical exercises for artists. I have learnt some of them over the years and designed some to fulfil my own needs. I am a painter, so most of these exercises are visual ones. However, many of them do not require specific artistic skills and are suitable for anyone regardless of their age or level of artistic ability.
These exercises are varied and you probably already own most of the required materials.
You can use them as warm-up before you start a new project or as a way to explore new avenues. I also hope teachers will use these exercises in their classes as they are great fun.

With the explosion of the maker movement, schools are beginning to embrace creativity. However, what does this mean for assessment? Should we assess the creative process? Should we assess the finished product? Does assessing creativity actually make kids more risk-averse? In this workshop we explore what it means to assess both the creative process and the creative product without leading to risk aversion.

Gifted education has a long and rich history of championing creative productivity in our students. Yet, many of our gifted students have become stymied by a fear of failure and the proverbial creative block. To overcome these mental roadblocks, this session explores core principles that today’s most innovative businesses and industries are utilizing to overcome the unseen forces that stand in the way of true inspiration and provides practical examples of how we can implement these principles into our gifted programs.

People that wish to remain competitive in the today’s environment must develop their capacity to generate creative ideas and then use their talent well to transfer these ideas into innovative practices. This leads to new processes and improved methods for the best use of existing resources, and increases the ability to solve problems and implement solutions that enhance their lives and work. In addition to broadening their personal capacity for creativity and innovation, leaders are better able to implement innovative ideas into their existing practices.

Agile Living: Or How I Learned to Stop Worry and Never Be "Done"David Dylan Thomas
The agile approach values iteration and learning over fixed outcomes and mental rigidity. Given the power of these ideas, what if we were to apply agile methodologies to our own lives? In this talk, content strategist and filmmaker David Dylan Thomas describes how he’s attempted to do just that and the impact it’s had on his life. He’ll also explore how technology has evolved to better leverage unpredictability and how that relates to agile being a better way to think about life and ourselves.
As a content strategist for EPAM, David Dylan Thomas has developed strategies for major clients in entertainment, publishing, and retail. He is the founder of Content Camp, co-organizer of Barcamp Philly, head of Content Strategy Philly, and the creator, director, and co-producer of Developing Philly, a web series about the rise of the Philadelphia tech community. He has given lectures on such topics as the future of content in a post-ownership economy and the hidden power of online links. To find out more about Dave you can find him here: @movie_pundit

The Plateau Effect: Why People Get Stuck...and How to Break ThroughThePlateauEffect
The Plateau Effect is a powerful law of nature that affects everyone. Learn to identify plateaus and break through any stagnancy in your life— from diet and exercise, to work, to relationships.
The Plateau Effect shows how athletes, scientists, therapists, companies, and musicians around the world are learning to break through their plateaus—to turn off the forces that cause people to “get used to” things—and turn on human potential and happiness in ways that seemed impossible. The book identifies three key flattening forces that generate plateaus, two principles to guide readers in engineering a plateau’s destruction, and three actions to take to achieve peak behavior. It helps us to stop wasting time on things that are no longer of value and to focus on the things that leverage our time and energy in spectacular ways.
Anything you want to do better—play guitar, make friends, communicate with your children, run a business—you can accomplish faster by understanding the plateau effect.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
