PRESENTATION ON Tourist Area Life Cycle
The tourism lifecycle theory was firstly proposed in 1963 by the German researcher Christaller, who described the development of tourism through three stages like a common product, namely “discovery, growth and decline”.
In 1980, Butler developed a model which shows how any tourist resort may grow is known asTourist Area Life Cycle.

As Moderator again, of the 2014 3rd Annual Northeast Asia Tourism Forum I had the opportunity to provide an update of the Greater Tumen Region (Northeast China, Eastern Mongolia, Far East Russia (and Vladivostok) and east coast South Korea) Cross border Tourism Strategy I prepared in 2012. I also used the occasion to encourage each zone within this large destination region to identify how they can contribute to the ongoing planning, product development and marketing of the region. The presentation outlines the sustainable tourism planning process and encourages the various zones to commit to at least of one of several tourism development options including: tour product (itinerary) development, marketing and marketing research, tourism and hospitality training, and development and implementation of standards.

Motives for visitors to attend a food and wine event in Cape TownChris Hattingh
Special events such as the Cape Town Good Food and Wine Show (CTGFWS), now in its 16th year, can be regarded as a mature event according the product life cycle (PLC). Whilst operating in a mature market, the PLC suggests that event marketers should consider adapting target markets, continuously rejuvenate the event offering and modify the marketing mix to ensure future sustainability. As this study determines the motives and visitors‟ satisfaction of the CTGFWS, it can enable marketing of the event accordingly. A spatially-based systematic purposive sampling approach was used to survey 316 visitors to the CTGFWS. The results indicated the five most important visitor motives were a mix of physiological motives which included wine tasting (which was found to be the main motive), to enjoy the food, to relax and enjoy a different environment (escape), to spend time with family and friends as well as to see the live shows by celebrity chefs. Furthermore, the majority of visitors were satisfied with many aspects of the event and almost two thirds had all of their expectations met. However, visitors to the event were also less satisfied with some aspects such as information about the event, the annual improvement of the event and signage in and around the venue, amongst others. It is recommended that these aspects be considered as part of the marketing strategies to rejuvenate the event in order to sustain interest and satisfaction in a mature event.

Online social networks, an innovation path for social learning in tourismOriol Miralbell
Aims: This research wants to identify the key factors that make online social networks become good environments for knowledge exchange. We also want to understand how tourism professionals are using virtual networks for exchanging knowledge and how users perceive that social networking sites can help for long-life learning.
Key arguments were that even though in a complex industry such as Tourism with so many different activities and such an atomized enterprise structure, diversity and consequent diffidence makes communication difficult, the success of social networking sites among students and professionals has fostered the emergence of a huge amount of virtual communities of tourism professionals organized inside these sites and their dynamic activity.
Thus, in our study we have tried to study the level of trust, commitment and loyalty in these communities that are fundamental in knowledge exchange. At the same time we checked for the impact of key factors that make knowledge exchange in virtual environments more dynamic. Taken from the theory of connective knowledge we’ve studied how autonomy of users, diversity of members and ideas, openness of the networks and interactivity between members influence the perceived use of social networking sites for knowledge exchange.
Social Networking sites and knowledge exchange. The proposal of an acceptance...Oriol Miralbell

In this paper we analyze the papers presented at the eight editions of TURITEC conference held between 1999 and 2010.We have sorted systematically the information on the entities that have made the presentations , the content covered and the subject area under study. The result of this analysis shows that the study of ICT applied to tourism has treated a wide thematic range. This work has been carried out mainly by the university, but also R & D institutes and other public and private tourism knowledge organizations have contributed with their papers to the TURITEC conference.
The analysis also shows a low level of collaboration between the universities and other sector bodies. The growing interest and application of ICT in theTourism calls for greater collaboration between the academia, the industry, both in ICT and in tourism, and the public administration. This would establish the foundation to stimulate innovation in this field with the ultimate aim of improving the competitiveness of Spain as a tourist destination and of the companies involved in the sector.
