In the Spring Semester the Interior Design Sophomore Studio , College of Human Ecology , East Carolina University took on the challenge of designing houses that are sustainable and more varied than plans that might have been generated to date. This is in keeping with the University's committment to be a leader in engaged scholarship as well as community service. The students were excited that their work would be put to use. So what we offer here are 18 new plans for Habitat Houses that can be used by anyone who might profit from the student work.
Each house has an imaginary family that the student designers kept in mind in view of the design profession that they will soon join is a service profession: there will be clients for all of the projects that these students will design as practicing interior designers. While these families are fictional , essentially placemarkers in the process of learning to design for others you are welcome to substitute your family, friends or members of the community for the prototype client and use the organizational or program drawings, the plans, elevations and sections and scchedules to extend the student work. We are at the end of our semester so we dedicate our efforts to your use.

Their goal was to create a more comfortable environment for the children at the shelter.
This document discusses the urgent need for environmental protection and sustainability. It describes how unchecked consumption of resources like water and disregard for the environment has led to severe shortages and health issues. Through a fictional letter from the year 2070, it paints a dire picture of a future with little greenery, scarce water, high pollution and early deaths. However, it also encourages small positive actions like conserving energy and water, reducing waste, and protecting nature that can help ensure better survival for future generations. Schools and individuals need to become more environmentally conscious and follow the principles of collect, confine, disposal and processing to build a cleaner, greener future.
The student conducted a project to clean up their school's covered court area. They found plastic wrappers, leaves, and other trash improperly disposed of, causing pollution. The goal was to maintain cleanliness and protect the environment. The student got permission and led schoolmates in inspecting the area, sweeping and separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable trash. They created a compost pit. After completing the cleanup, the student realized that even students can help the environment through simple projects like this.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Shalom Home consistently requires funds to cover their monthly budget, and, as such, they depend a lot on the generosity of the public. The
monthly income is RM25,000, that allows the organization care for the children. For example, feed, electricity, water, education, transport, rent,

The side porch is an area to function as an outdoor study, estimating to be -m2. To
accommodate the ten girls living in the house, the space given is smaller than the
minimum space for human comfort. The space is easily affected by rain as the extended
roof could only provide shade for a quarter of the area. The slight elevation of the porch
ground from the grass compound does not eliminate the issue of water flooding into the
study area during rain. The need for proper drainage arises in this context.

The tables that are stacked at the side were donated by local clubs and used as the
children’s study tables. Due to the lack of space, the children has to stack the tables
every time after use. Some of the tables are already damaged due to weathering and

Due to the roofing material to be made of aluminum zinc, the study area sustains heat.
This is also due to the direction of wind flow that is inaccessible as it doesn’t flow into the
compound. Thermal human comfort can not be achieved, causing the space to be
uncomfortable for use.
