Are you constantly looking for the right funding route but coming up empty handed? Are you looking for alternative routes to fund your project that doesn’t rely on public bodies? Would you like to start engaging people with your project now? Crowdfunding could be your answer.

The workshop will cover all the aspects you will need to create, implement and market your Crowdfunding project. Including:
• How does Crowdfunding work?
• Where can I crowdfund – what platforms are available?
• How to write the perfect pitch.
• Choosing the right rewards.

2. In this presentation, I will be looking at 4
crowdfunding campaigns with very different rewards.
1. A Show with Ze Frank
2. Build the Barn at Poplar Farm
3. U in a Bottle
4. 3D game for iPhone
4. • https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zefrank/a-show-with-ze-frank
• Focus: Was created to help fund his new TV show. One of the
rewards was for $999 – the creator would wear your shoes and walk a
mile in them.
• Funding Goal: $50,000
• Actual Achieved: $146,752
• Type of Entrepreneurship: For profit, regular entr.
Facts
5. The Rewards
• I liked the reward because even though there was only 1 backer, it
made a big impact on the man and in the video. He was able to
empathize with the individual who had struggled with his health and
we were able to get something more out of the experience.
• I didn't like how simple and useless some of the rewards were on the
campaign even though he had a lot of success.
8. The Rewards
• I liked the reward as it allowed the backer to get an emotional reward
while being able to name the animal. People like connecting with
animals and seeing results, so I am sure people loved seeing how
their money was being put to use.
• I didn’t like how the reward was mostly intangible, maybe they could
have offered more things that could be kept.
10. • https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/669585181/u-in-a-
bottle?ref=category_ending_soon
• Focus: They were trying to create an app where people could put messages
in bottles and share their own, “thoughts, reflections and philosophy.” One
rewards for $325 was for a message in a bottle, t-shirt and notebook.
• Funding Goal: $1,849
• Actual Achieved: $1
• Type of Entrepreneurship: For profit, regular entr.
Facts
11. The Rewards
• I thought that asking $325 for a message in a bottle, notebook and t-
shirt was not only unrealistic but not worth the money – I don’t think
anyone would feel good about giving that amount for their campaign.
• There wasn’t much I liked about the idea at all other than maybe
being able to share your own thoughts and creative writings with
other people.
13. • https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1144176189/glass-free-3d-for-
iphone-4
• Focus: They were trying to raise money for an iPhone game which
would allow the user to play in 3D with the use of a special screen
cover. For $20 you could get a screen and copy of the game.
• Funding Goal: $15,000
• Actual Achieved: $21
• Type of Entrepreneurship: For profit, regular entr.
Facts
14. The Rewards
• I liked the idea of the campaign (3D game) but that was about it.
• I didn’t like how the reward was for one of the screens as it wasn’t
shown very well in the video so I am not sure it even worked. I also
didn’t like how the higher reward was exactly the same as the first,
just twice as much – it showed a great lack of creativity and the
whole campaign was not very credible at all.
