3. Language is the verbal expression of culture.
A language is a system of verbal and in many
cases, written symbols, with standardized meanings.
Language is the outer appearance of people's soul:
their soul is their language, and their language is their
soul; it is hard to imagine either of them more equal.
5. Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of
people, defined by everything from
language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and
arts.
Culture is the idea, custom and beliefs of a community
with a distinct language containing - everything a
speakers can think about and every way the have of
thinking about things as medium of communication.
6. The relationship between language &
culture
Language is not only for communication between
people who have their own cultural norms, but as a
mirror to reflect the world and people's view of the
world.
Culture is a complex concept that includes language.
7. The relationship between language
learning & culture
It is now broadly accepted in most parts of the world
that learning a foreign language is not simply
mastering the grammar, the vocabulary, etc, but more
appropriately focuses on learning a means of
communication.
Communication in real situations is never out of
context, and because culture is part of most
contexts, communication is rarely culture-free. The
same word, if used in different culture, would get
different psychological response.
8. Learning a language is much more than grammatical
rules, vocabulary, pronunciation and phrases.
In essence, it is the process of achieving the ability to
communicate with people of other cultures, and to
do that, you must be able to understand the
complexities which exist beyond language itself.
