2. Arc Welder Research Paper
Are you doing an extension to your home, building something in your garage or needing to do
some minor repair and maintenance routines with parts and appliances at home, but lack the
proper tools? For this you need to get a reliable arc welder. This is a machine which converts 110 to
240 volts AC electricity to weldingvoltage, normally 40 to 79 volts AC, and sometimes in a range
of DC voltages. A welder consists of a transformer, an internal cooing fan, a voltage regulator and
an amperage range selector. The kind of machine to shop for will depend on your welding skills
and how you intent to use it.
Arc welding utilizes an electric current which flows between an electrode and the welding material
to melt the metal and make the weld. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

welder can be useful in numerous ways such as repairing appliances and other items around the

serious and independent person. Remember that you need to use protective gear when using this
machine. Looking at the blue arc of the welder with a naked eye can result in serious eye damage.
It is also important to wear protective clothing when using the machine because the intensity of the
light and high temperature created by the arc can lead to a severe skin damage on any exposed body

3. Divorce Mediation And A Divorce Mediator

The Role of a Divorce Mediator in Broadrun, VA
Although a judge and a divorce mediator in Broadrun, Virginia both have the ability to finalize a
divorce case, the way they do so is quite different. The role of a divorce mediator in Broadrun,
Virginia is more of a helping one. In contrast, the role of a judge is that of a decision maker. In
most instances, the parties are more satisfied with the results of their cases when they use a divorce
mediator, primarily because they are able to have a direct role in the negotiation of a settlement
agreement.
A divorce mediator assists the parties in a divorce case with creating a settlement agreement. To do
so, the divorce mediator will first meet with the parties to discuss their positions in the dispute. The
divorce mediator will next attempt to help the parties find common ground in their positions. Once
the parties have reached agreement on an issue, the mediator will make note of the agreement and
move on to the next contested issue. Issue by issue, the divorce mediator will discuss the case with
the parties and help them settle as many issues as possible.
Whereas a judge will make a decision for the parties, the mediator helps them make their own
decisions. In fact, a mediator has no decision making power during mediation. The fate of the case
is entirely in the hands of the parties.

4. Neolithic Agriculture Benefits
Agriculture is one of the key factors that shape your everyday life. Your time, money, nutrition, and
life is dependent on agriculture. Food can be gathered by either hunting for it or producing it,
however, which method is healthier for human civilization? Some people believe that producing
foods and domesticating animals (agriculturein Neolithic Revolution) is more beneficial to
humans. However, the reasonings for which hunting and gathering is healthier overall are
abundant. Hunting and gathering (way of getting food in the Paleolithic Era) supplies a better and
more varied amount of nutrients, less vulnerability to famine and disease, and good leisure time
with less work. Progressivists (those who believe in the benefits of agriculture) say that agriculture
was more beneficial due to the fact that you could get more food for less work. The problem was
that farming did not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those perks offered vast culture, better hospitality, more farms and more produce. However, as
hunting and gathering consists of many different food sources rather than just farming a lot of
select foods, relying only on select produced food leaves you more vulnerable to famine and
disease. The reasoning behind this is if your crops fail, then you probably won t have another
source of food because most farmers did not have the skillsets or physical ability for hunting and
gathering. An example of a catastrophic outcome with producing food could be the Great Famine
in Ireland, where potatoes became infested and became unable to eat which triggered the famine
due to farmers being so dependent on potatoes. As previously stated, farming brings more people
together in certain areas. With having a higher population, disease is common due to the ease of
spread. The risks that farming takes is too deadly and dependent compared to hunting as it mostly

English 10
September 11, 2013
Knowledge In Society In the stories Harrison Bergeron and By the Waters of Babylon both present
a similar plot about society in the future. Both main characters, John and Harrison, question the
beliefs and knowledge in their society. For example, Harrison does not agree with the system of
everyone being equal; and John s journey to the Place of Gods lets him gain the knowledge and truth
about these places and people to help the people in his society understand. In the story, Harrison
Bergeron, one learns that the author, Kurt Vonnegut, does not like the way society is. He does not
like how people judge one another because one is not as attractive, or smarter, or funnier. He ...

these things are forbidden, I said, but it was my voice that spoke but not my spirit, (Benet, p.
292). My heart was troubled about going east, yet I knew that I must go. (Benet, p. 293). John
knows going to these places is a sin, but for some reason he seems to knot agree with this. As the
story progresses, John is now a man and goes off into his journey. He searches for signs; his first
sign was an eagle that went east. John knows it is a sin to go east, but his gut is telling him he
should go. However, he believes this was a bad spirit trying to convince him to the wrong thing.
His next sign were three deers, as well as a white fawn, another sin. Then he sees a black panther
which attacks the white fawn. This represents a ying and a yang, good and evil. John says it is
better to die than loose his spirit (Benet, p. 294). At the John decides he will travel to the Place of

An Analysis of E.E. Cummings Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town
In reading this poem the first time, I had no clue as to what Cummings was speaking of.
However, after many times through and several on line readings, I believe that I have some
semblance as to what Cummings was trying to convey in this poem. In reading this poem through
on my own the first time, I saw Anyone as any person. However, Anyone is actually an
individual, as is Noone. Anyone is seen to be a happy person as in line 4, he is seen singing and
dancing. However, in contrast to him, were the women and men who not only didn t care for

I feel that this is just a little insignificant man in the eyes of the townspeople. The woman is not too
much in their eyes either. However, they have found each other and in finding each other, they have
found true love. They do not feel the need to go through the ceremony of marriage to show their
love for one another. You can see that they were in each other s lives for a long time because in
line 10 we see that the children who noticed their love are now adults. These children, as adults,
marry but not for love and we also see some of the die in line 20, they slept their dream . I see in
lines 25 30 that their love was so deep that when Anyone died it was not shortly after that Noone
also passed away.
It is a very sad life that I see for the other members in this community. Some of the children have
that innocence to see things very clearly. However, when they grow up, they lose it. Cummings
even states that only the snow can begin to explain how children are apt to forget to remember . I
take this line to mean that children are so innocent and fun loving when there is snow falling.
Children do not really have too many inhibitions as of yet, but when there is snow on the ground,
they lose the inhibitions that they had. Yet, as we age, we lose that innocence and fun, care free
nature that we once had. However, there are a few things that can bring that fun loving nature back
to many of us and that is

8. Explain The Sequence And Rate Of Each Aspect Of...
Unit 1.
Assessment Criteria 1.1.1.
Explain the sequence and rate of each aspect of development from birth 19 years.
At birth a baby relies on sight and touch for their intellectual development, they have limited
language, and all information is processed visually, as a baby grows they develop intellectually by
participating in imaginative play ie a box becomes a car or train or plane. They will also imitate
and explore new behaviours and forms of play, their confidence will grow as they near the age of 3
years old, but will still seek reassurance from their parents and carers.
Between the ages of 3 and 7 years old a child will still be processing information visually, along side
this their language skills and thought process will develop, which will have a huge effect on how
they think and interact with others.
As a child progress towards the age of 12 years old they will become less egocentric, and more
understanding of others feelings, thoughts, opinions, and beliefs, specific individual interests will
also develop at this time.
During the teenage years they will become responsible for their own thoughts, words and actions.
A capacity for higher order reasoning will develop, and individual personalities will appear and
form. They will be able to combine and classify items in a more sophisticated manner, and begin to
consider their futures. Support, guidance and help, on moral, ethical, social, economic and cultural
issues, at these stages of development, can have a huge

9. Disadvantages Of Professional Recruiters
Recruiters are great to have in your corner if they reach out to you. They have access to more job
opportunities as employers don t always advertise job openings to the public but hire a
professional recruiter instead. Professional recruiters keep an extensive network of contacts and
know where the current open positions are. On the other hand, if you re sending your resume out
to everyone indiscriminately, your strategy can tarnish your brand and hinder your job search. You
need to be selective when using recruiters because not all of them operate the same way.
Advantages of Using a Professional Recruiter в—ЏFree Professional recruiters are paid by their
clients, not by you. If you are asked to pay, seek another recruiter. They are the employer s client.
Asking you to pay as well presents a conflict of interest. в—ЏInterview Preparation Most

they are full of promises and candy coated expectations, they may not be the recruiter for you.

Skinner and his colleagues (Gass Larry, 2008), learning or a change of behaviour on the part of the
learner, is brought about by a process known as operant conditioning which is the result of repeated
training. Operant means voluntary behaviour which is the result of learner s own free will and is
not forced by any outsider or thing (Ortega, 2009). The learner will demonstrate the new behaviour
first as a response to a system of a reward or punishment, and finally it will become an automatic
response. Behaviourists believe that learning a language is no different from learning anything else.
It becomes a habit by the stimulus response reinforcement repetition process (Cook, 2001). The
behaviourists also claim that we learn by imitation and by association (Lightbown Spada, 2006).
However, psycholinguists argue that imitation is not enough because it is not only the mechanical
repetition but also natural exposure that children acquire language (Cook, 2001). Therefore, from
the behaviourist approach, language acquisition can be seen as a stimulus response process.
Children learn language by immitation and analogy. The roles of imitation, repetition,
reinforcement, and motivation are essential in learning the language. The First Language
Acquisition is thus the result of nature which based on practicing. Nativist or Innateness

our University, states, There are many nights that I am up at 3 am and I am studying as I fall

students are required to take a good number of classes that involve labs which is almost like two

Involvement of the coach: The coach should have the ability to develop an atmosphere of trust in

17. The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Domestic Abuse
Susan Cisneros
English 1301
Lacina Taylor
2 December 2014
Stop The Abuse Underreported and underestimated, domestic abuse rips families apart every single
day. Domestic violence comes in mainly five different forms, physical, sexual, psychological,
emotional, and economic. This violence ruins families, demoralizes the victims, and the public
downplays the household terrorism that goes on every day. Generally thought of as taboo, the
public belittles and humorizes domestic abuse as a way to deal with it, that avoidance must come
to an end. The five forms of domestic violence are economic, emotional, physical, psychological
and sexual. The most commonly known physical violence occurs when a partner or parent inflicts
injury such as hitting, stabbing, and shoving. Physical violence also takes place when food or
fluids, medical care and other sources that maintain health get withheld. The most commonly
recognized form of sexual violence is rape, or non consensual sexual intercourse. Sexual and
physical violence oftentimes both wind up reported by the same victim. Some individuals actively

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we know that Human

condition will increase the danger of several kinds of cancers, such as the cervix cancer, vulva

Some people believe that things such as televison, computers, and cell phones have a negative
effect on children while others believe that in the long run they have no real effect. In my
opinion watching too much televison is not good for children in the long run and can cause
many problems for you in the future. Children in the United States have an average of 7.5 hours
of screen time per day. Spending that much time watching a televison screen can be very
damaging for the eyes as opposed to reading a book, creating an art project, or just going out side
to get some fresh air. An article from a scientific journal says that light from the screen confuses the
viewers body clock this causes the veiwer to not geta decent amout of sleep at night.

22. The Question Of Antibiotic Resistance
Introduction The question of antibiotic resistance is a growing phenomenon in contemporary
society and modern medicine; it pertains to pathogenic organisms and is one of the most eminent
issues of public health in the twenty first century. Though resistant genes are ancient, its increasing
prevalence poses a threat. It demands a greater need for antibiotic therapies. New resistance
mechanisms may spread globally and limit our ability to treat disease and lead to a giant hole in the
pillars of modern medicine. The immense increase in antibiotic resistancecan be attributed to many
factors. Along with spontaneous gene mutation, natural selection, and cell to cell gene transfer,
humans play a huge part in the worsening of the epidemic. The Union of Concerned Scientists
estimated in 2001 that more that seventy percent of the antibiotics used in the United States are
given to food animals without disease to increase growth and decrease probability of mortality;
medicine is used ensure and maximize profit. The misuse of antibiotics leads to an increase in
resistance in that it exposes bacteriato antibiotics when this exposure is not necessary. Additionally,
culturally ingrained practices of using antibiotics sans prescription, sharing antibiotics with others,
and over prescription and dispensing antibiotics either incorrectly or needlessly due to the
commercialization of medicine in combination with patients exaggeration of disease symptoms all

23. Ethical Issues In Freedom From Hunger And Thirst
Ethical Issues
Aside from the possible advantages, disadvantages and alternatives to the procedure, an owner,
as well as a veterinarian, must consider the ethical risks surrounding an invasive cosmetic
surgery such as debarking. The five freedoms are crucial in considering the welfare of an animal,
and after exploring the advantages and disadvantages to debarking, there can be a violation of
some sort in every one of these freedoms (11). The first freedom, Freedom from Hunger and
Thirst, has a possibility of being violated, as complications to the procedure can result in scarring
of the larynx, ultimately obstructing the ability for an animal to swallow their food/water. Freedom
from Discomfort is definitely violated, as not only is the dog ... Show more content on

Freedom from Pain, Injury and Disease ties into these first two freedoms, because as mentioned
above, the animal is going to be in pain from an invasive procedure, followed by an increased
risk of infection and disease due to the nature of the area being performed on. Animals have a
tendency to lick and/or eat anything that they deem as delicious or interesting, whether it is out
of boredom, hunger, or curiosity. Having any extra opportunities for bacteria or viruses from
feces, other dogs, etc. to enter the wound is increasing the risk of the animal succumbing to a
disease, infection or virus that they may not have contracted otherwise. The Freedom to Express
Normal Behaviour is one of the welfare concerns most obvious in the case of debarking, as the
animal is no longer able to perform the type of communication they use most frequently. While
they are able to bark , they are not effectively communicating in the way they intend to. This leads
to the violation of the Freedom from Fear and Distress, as not being able to communicate with
their owner can lead to fear, distress and aggression in pets (2). This freedom can be a difficult
welfare concern to address, because if the surgery is not performed and a pet is relinquished, this
may also cause fear and distress if they are well accustomed to their

24. Why Abortion Should Be Legal
Abortion is a touchy subject with a lot of people but it is a very important issue that the world is
facing. There is a lot of history when it comes to abortion, but the first case took place in
Georgia Doe v Bolton in 1973 and that is where is all began on a legal stand point. The most
important thing people need to look at is you can t make this decision based off of your feelings
you have to take a life and effects of both the mother and child s life, that line is crossed and it
becomes personal way too often. I am going to give you facts to why abortionneeds to be legal for
anyone of the consensual age. Now from the first abortion cases before this case you were only

Most paces say you cannot have an abortion after 24 to 26 weeks in Texas it is 28 weeks. By then
there is actually a life in there and you may not take a life. I find that rather fair because it gives
the mother and influences around more than enough time to come to an agreement to what
should happen. One thing I do not believe though is that anyone s opinion should matter but the
mothers but that s deeper in every case. If we were to make abortions illegal we have to realize
that women would still have the procedures done, it would be unsafe of course. The dangerous
practice of unregulated abortions led to a high U.S. maternal mortality rate, Reagan says. In her
book, she cites a study done in 1931 showing illegal procedures are responsible for 14% of
maternal deaths. In 1962, Sherri Finkbine, an Arizona mother of four, travels to Sweden after a
local hospital denies her request for a legal abortion. Finkbine had taken the drug thalidomide,
which researchers linked to birth defects. To sum it up I am not against abortion because it should
100% be the mothers choice, that is who goes through all the pain and suffering and forms the first
bond with the child so that is the only person who should matter in such critical decisions. Said
best by Seth Millstein the right to life doesn t mean the right to put someone else life at risk. the

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution gives residents the privilege to have and

Handgun ownership should to be entirely restricted, because they are made only to kill individuals,
they have expanded the homicide rate in the U.S., and they have even permitted kids to effortlessly
kill other youngsters.
Why might our nation permit us to have the privilege to have, own an item that is destructive? Our
administration appears to need to ensure us. For instance, safety belt laws and cruiser head
protector laws were made to secure our lives. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
authorizes contamination laws to keep us sheltered and sound. The Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) assesses nourishment and tests medications to ensure American are not hurt by bad
nutritions and medications but, yet our legislature permits pretty much anyone to have and stroll

APA Format: What Does It Mean?
Almost every KGSM written assignment specifies that the paper conform to APA style. But no

Some professors may require more or less. My best advice for what to do in other classes is to ask

Citations
Some students may be familiar with the use of footnotes to provide information about sources of
information. With APA format, footnotes are not used for this purpose. Instead, we use in text
citations and a references page near the end of the paper. The rules of the formatting of citations
and references are somewhat arcane. Typically, professors will be okay with your formatting being
pretty close. I am. Some professors might be sticklers about this. You might want to ask before
beginning your writing assignment. Software such as Reference Point or EndNote will take care of
the formatting for you if you use such software. Otherwise you will want to pay close attention to
examples provided in the manual or other trusted sources.
Here are some example citations and references. In some cases, I have simplified, maybe over
simplified some of the rules. I will be happy if you use the basics. You might want to ask your
professor if you need to be more of a stickler. Here are citations for a book (Giorgi, 2009), a journal

27. Parliamentary Protests Of The United States
The threat presented by extra parliamentary protest in the years 1815 20 was plagued by weak
and divided leadership which limited it from driving results that met its full potential. However,
there were also other factors that served to undermine progress such as the actions of the
government in repressing dissenters and the low level of available logistical resources .
Evan tells us in Source 3 that the movement lacked coherent leadership. His view supports the
argument for the threat being undermined by the weakness of having too many orators captivated
by the sound of their own voices of whom not enough bridged the gap between rhetoric and reality.
Being unable to convey the actions people would be required to take for change within their
messages reduced the movement almost to a talking shop of radical leaders, carried away without
realistic planning . We can see the fruits of their failed labours in the way the government had little
difficulty in handling any protests and this repeated derailing meant there was rarely a leadership
united enough to effectively inspire confidence. On the other hand, Thompson deems radicalism to
have assumed more conscious, organised and sophisticated forms , going so far as to call it a
heroic age , which somewhat refutes the criticisms of inadequacy in the power of the speeches
made. Indeed, the reality that in addition to Norwich and Sheffield: Nottingham, Coventry and

29. Airway Obstruction In COPD
The presence of airflow obstruction which is largely irreversible is a major feature of COPD. It
is proposed to be the result of a combination of small airways narrowing, airway wall
inflammation [89] and emphysema related loss of lung elastic recoil [1, 90, 91]. The pathologic
features of COPD are structural changes of the lung, including emphysema and small airway
remodelling [92]. Small airway remodelling in COPD is characterized by adventitial fibrosis and
mucus cell hyperplasia, and may involve increased airway smooth muscle (ASM) mass,
particularly in severe disease [92 96]. This is indicated by persistent infiltration of inflammatory
cells, including macrophages, neutrophils and T and B lymphocytes in the airway wall [94 96].
Small airway remodelling could also result from direct effects of CS and LPS exposure on
structural cells of the airway wall, independent of inflammation[9].... Show more content on

In the second chapter of this dissertation it will focus on the work of Manchester born and black
artist Chris Ofili. Most known for his experimentation with elephant dung, Ofili communicates a
humorous and rather stereotypical reaction to how an African man should be painting, You don t
exist, unless you start to build yourself up, and start to work (Ofili 2010). There was much
comment about Ofili becoming the first black contemporary artist whose name and work was
known to a wider British public.
Ofili, compared to Yinka Shoniabre, has never abandoned the idea that notions of race and identity
are important factors within his artwork, Ofili quite simply understands that playing along side his
stereotypes has offered his career for where he is today. ...Portraiture and black subjectivity
represent important philosophical vectors in Ofili s powerful figurative art, as if this conjunction

The media argument that high ratings
correspond with the public s best interest is simply not valid. Even the
American Medical Association agrees that the quot;link between televised
violence and later aggressive behavior warrants a major organized cry of
protest from the medical profession quot; (Palmer, 122). The issue of the
public s infatuation with television can be paralleled with that of a young
child and his desire for candy and quot;junk foods. quot; The child enjoys eating
such foods, though they produce the harmful effects of rotting away at his
teeth. With a parent to limit his intake of such harmful sweets, however,
the child is protected from their damage. Similarly, the American public
desires to view violent programs at the risk of adapting induced aggressive

the amount of violence shown on television, there are no restrictions to
prevent television s violent candy from rotting away at the teeth of
society.
Harry Skornia claims that quot;it is naive and romantic to expect a
corporation to have either a heart of a soul in the struggle for profits

Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours
in a classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At
some point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree
that a change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people
have touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all
look beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more
they can gain. Throughout David Foster Wallaces speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs
didactic little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true
benefits of education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost
immediately, Wallace inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about
two young fish that eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing
question of how s the water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand
the obvious fact that they live in the water, it surrounds them. This story serves as an introduction to
the point Wallace hopes to give his audience, that a liberal artseducation is not so much about filling
you up with knowledge as it is about quote teaching you how to think. The speaker then prompts his

Though when both characters walk backwards and sit down while having their conversation, the
power is equal between because of their body posture is at an equal level. The lighting on
Widow s face is shadowed while talking about her past, whereas Loki s face and body is high lit.
This shows that he still may have the upper hand. When he speaks the camera is on him and it is
also a long shot which emphasises the prison he is kept in. Compared to the prison, Loki seems
very small and lost whilst in it. This puts forward that he is actually not as powerful as he makes

suggests that all his true colours are being revealed. Through out this section of the scene, their
tones of voice are calm and equivalent, so it s still uncertain who has the power. When Loki
questions What are you now? Widow stands up and folds her arms, so her posture is now closed

36. The Original General Model Of Memory Essay
The original general model of memory was proposed by Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin in
1968. The Attkinson Shiffrin theory of human memory states that human memory can be classified
into three components: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory (Atkinson,
Shiffrin, 1968). Sensory memoryis where sensory information is brought into memory and
maintained by the senses. For instance, when a person perceives an environmental stimulus for a
short time before it fades, the object is still preserved in the memory for a short amount of time.
Although our minds store significant amounts of information through our senses, we still can t
process the majority of it accurately because of limitations of the memory. Therefore, information
which can t be instantly attended to is stored in our sensory memory for a short time (Atkinson,
Shiffrin, 1968). There are two aspects of sensory memory: iconic and echoic memory. Iconic
memory pertains to the memory of sight, whereas echoic memory relates to the memory of sound.
Despite the fact that most of the information in sensory memory begins to diminish, some of the
information is attended to. The information that is attended is transported over to to the short term
store, also known as short term memory . The purpose of short term memory is to remember an
insubstantial amount of information for a short period of time (Atkinson, Shiffrin, 1968). The
information stored in short term memory has a longer duration than

Myra. Anderson and Bruhl s mini play created a false sense of reality to which Myra fell victim.
This skewing of reality becomes the basis for Deathtrap as a whole since Anderson and Bruhl s

Contemporary Theories of Management
Contingency Theory
Basically, contingency theory asserts that when managers make a decision, they must take into
account all aspects of the current situation and act on those aspects that are key to the situation at
hand. Basically, it s the approach that it depends. For example, the continuing effort to identify the
best leadership or management style might now conclude that the best style depends on the
situation. If one is leading troops in the Persian Gulf, an autocratic style is probably best (of
course, many might argue here, too). If one is leading a hospital or university, a more participative
and facilitative leadership style is probably best.

Quantitative management is another contemporary approach to management that prioritizes

Who is Francisco Pizarro
Conquistador is a term that defines the soldiers and explorers of the New World. There were
many conquistadors before the discovery of the New World. However, the most important and
unforgettable conquistador was born sometime in the 1470s. Francisco Pizarro Gonzalez, was the
Spanish conquistador who was the leader of the expedition of the Inca Empire. And behind this
expedition, there is a long story that defines a man and events that prove facts. So, who is
Francisco Pizarro? According to the facts, Francisco Pizarro was born in Trujillo, Spain. His date
of birth is unknown, but some say that it is some time in the 1470s, perhaps 1474. He was the
illegitimate son of infantry Colonel Gonzalo Pizarro, who was serving in Navarre and the Italian
campaigns and his mother was Francisca Gonzalez, who was a poor woman and she married late
and had a son who is Francisco Martin de Alcantara (The Most Evil Men In History Francisco

To become an educated person, it takes time. Being educated has a lot to do with knowing how
to present yourself, and how to talk to people. It is also great to know how to hold an educated
conversation. Many people can be educated or become educated simply by studying or
understanding at least one core subject. Anyone that is able to think clearly and manage emotions
internally. Also a person who can be a great problem solver.

On Tuesday, April 11, I attended the University of Evansville s Springs Classic Wind Ensemble

composed of approximately forty five performers. The various instruments included piccolo,
bassoon, euphonium, as well as the typical wind and brass instruments such as clarinets, flutes,
trumpets, and trombones. The University of Evansville s wind ensemble was conducted by
Kenneth Steinsultz. The wind ensemble opened the performance with their own variation of

composer who deserves a wide audience, and that is why his music doesn t fall under one category

While most of us steadily pay attention to Hadassah the young Jewish girl who would later

be based on the Persian King Xerxes of Persia, whom Leonidas fought with the famous 300. In
my assessment, was a political satire. Ahasuerus presents a singular mixture of pride and
weakness. First, Ahasuerus, known to be an impulsive and headstrong man, governed the empire
by whim rather than by wisdom. His pride drove him to display the most hyperbolic pomp in

For the past century, Walt Whitman has inspired people with his literary work by addressing his

reader to his poems, but the realistic truths and observations in these poems revealed deep
confessions, which affected the reader s personal feelings and opinions. Expanding further than
American readers and writers, Whitman had established an impact worldwide. Writers such as

The simplest, most natural, and strongest character I have ever met in my life , in his

seen by the more philosophical pieces created by Wilde, which stray away from his typical
beauty over content persona. More specifically, Whitman like ideas can be seen in Wilde s poem
Humanitad in comparison to Whitman s Song of Myself . Humanitad begins with the contrast of
the seasons of spring and winter, but goes in depth with the contrast of the Greek Gods and the
Christian God, leaving readers in philosophical questioning about religious beliefs. Though
Humanitad does remain true to Wilde s common, beautiful writing style, there is deeper meaning
to his words. Song of Myself discusses the importance of finding one s self through observation
and nature, as well as the connectivity between all types of people in the continuous circle life

death, and life are all the main focuses of both pieces. In comparison, Song of Myself and

50. The Great Gatsby Freudian Analysis Essay
A Freudian Analysis of The Great Gatsby
Sigmund Freud, a psychological genius, created an entirely new system that dealt with the
understanding of the human personality. This technique, called psychoanalysis, consists of three
subdivisions. The id responds directly to his or her instincts, while the superego relies on his or
her sense of guilt. Lastly, the ego represents reality, or the balance between the id and superego.
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the three levels of subconsciousness are ideally
filled by the main characters, Tom Buchanan, Jay Gatsby, and Nick Carraway. The id is not
affected by reality, logic or the everyday world, as it operates within the unconscious part of the
mind (McLeod). Tom Buchanan lived in his own mind. Listening only to his own instincts, he
proved to be impulsive and selfish. He knew what he wanted, and he would not give up until he

51. The Work Of Marina Abramovic
In this essay I will be looking into the work of Marina Abramovic in relation to the Feminist
movement. By looking at her work, I aim to emphasise her influence on this movement. In this
essay, I shall also briefly examine the works of Abramovic, particularly Art is Beautiful, Artist
must be Beautiful (1975) and four of her performances from her Rhythm series (10 (1973), 0
(1974), 2 (1974), and 5 (1974)). I shall describe the history of the Feminist movement and its
influence in order to develop an understanding of Abramovic s influence.

Abramovic s performances can be read as feminist works, even though she has expressed that she
was not particularly concerning herself with womens issues (Richards, 2010:19). This could be
due to her upbringing in Yugoslavia, where as a Communist country, there is less gender
inequality than that which is experienced by many women in the Western world (Richards,
2010:19). Also, as a woman, Abramovic was given the freedom to perform pieces such as her
Rhythm series, as she was seen as less of a threat than other artists in the 1970 s (Richards,
2010:2). This is problematic in itself, as it shows that as a female artist, Abramovic was not
expected to create much of an impact on the political world, perhaps suggesting that even in a
country where women have more gender equality with men, they are still subjected to the
ideologies that women belong in the private sphere, whereas men are thought to belong in the
public sphere, meaning that they are taken more seriously in political issues and are thought to have
more influence in these.
Abramovic s performances can be contextually analysed in terms of Ecriture Feminine, The Abject
Body and Feminism. Bell Hooks defines feminism as a movement to end sexism and sexist
domination and oppression, a struggle that includes efforts to end gender discrimination and create
equality (Hooks, 2000: 113). Feminism is also a political position (Barry, 2002:22). The term

Women of Valor Saint Augustine s Confessions speaks very strongly about the role of women in
the lives of men. Apart from his mother s encouragement, Augustine had few expeditions spurring
him onto the Lord, and it is because the faith of his mother, Monica, that he grows tremendously
spiritually. The characteristics Augustine equates with his mother are similar to those of Rebekah
in Genesis because of a similar submission to the Lord, obedience and modesty, and faithfulness to
her family. Women have incredible influence in the lives of men. This can be used as a coercion or
for the benefit of the man. For example, the sirens in The Odyssey by Homer attempt to lure men to

Every time someone reads a verse in the Bible and asks himself that question, a different
response will be given each time because he is not in the same position that he was the last time
he read that; his cat could have fallen ill or his house burnt down. Either way, it will be felt
different each time because the emotions are not exactly the same as they were earlier. 2
Timothy 3:16 states, All Scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching... (Zondervan NIV
Study Bible). This fact leads the reader to believe that this question is never good to ask. That is
not the case; if someone asks herself this question, it is helpful because it allows whatever is
going on to be answered in a way that is congruent with her life. However, if she asks only this
question, she depends upon her emotions as she reads, which is not always good. There is a central
truth behind every work of literature, and if someone is working hard to avoid this central truth by
relying on emotions, then that question needs to be stopped. In terms with Confessions, Augustine
was able to read the Bible consistently and pray to the Lord without making too many emotional
decisions. Of course, having a child would be a huge emotional influence on his walk, but the
encouragement his mother gives him throughout the work is inspiring to the reader. Not only
