Genetic
Manipulation
with Cre-LoxP
- Hritisha Khudania
• Cre-Lox recombination is a site-specific recombinase technology.
• It is used to carry out deletions, insertions, translocations and inversions at
specific sites in the DNA of cells.
• It is implemented in both prokaryotes as well as eukaryotes.
Cre-LoxP recombination
• As the name suggests, the Cre-Lox system relies on two components to function:
Cre recombinase and its recognition site, loxP.
