This document provides an introduction to contemporary Philippine arts from various regions. It discusses 12 contemporary art styles including abstract expressionism, op art, performance art, environmental art, video art, digital art, graffiti, body art, feminist art, kinetic art, postmodern art, and minimalism. Examples of each style are provided. The learning objectives are to identify, describe, and understand the importance of various contemporary art forms from the Philippines' different regions. An assessment activity asks students to research a contemporary artwork from Region III and identify its title, artist, date, and style.

movements which flourished from 1945
up to the present time.

where they follow a certain
structure or style. Contemporary
artists explore new styles and
perspectives in producing art.

12. 1. Abstract Expressionism.
In this art style, the artist freely
applies materials like paints or
crayon without following
structures and patterns. The
manner of applying the materials
depends on his expression of
feelings and emotions.
