1. I have chosen seven of my favourite photos from David’s Celebrity portfolio. The reason I have picked these is because I
am most inspired by them. They stand out the most to me and I feel they are the most eye-catching. I am hugely
inspired by them as they are a high standard example of what I would wish to create.

Composition
I really like the composition of this
photo and the low angle which it has
been taken from. I feel this was a
successful angle as you are able to
see the majority of the model and the
clothing which is the main subject
matter.
Initial idea and thought process
One of the first things I noticed was the low saturation levels in this photo which I found interesting as
I associated fashion photography with vibrant colour schemes. I really like the neutral colour scheme
which remains throughout the photo.
Light Source
The lighting used for the set of this
photograph appears to be natural
light as the scene is set outside.
Although it appears a spotlight
would’ve been positioned over the
model to create a spotlight and to
help create a shadow.
Focus and perspective
The model doesn’t have direct eye contact with the camera as she appears to be looking downwards
with her head tilted to the side which is positioned and placed rather than an unplanned action shot.

I have chosen six of my favourite photos from David’s Beauty & Fashion portfolio. The reason I have chosen these
is because they inspire me to take photographs creatively as well as concentrating on many important areas
within photography such as composition, colour and the subject matter.

Composition
This image has been composed using the rule of
thirds and with a little use of negative space.
Initial idea and thought process
I really liked this photo and felt drawn to it because
of the simplicity of the photo however the meaning
behind it could possibly be very complex and have a
much more meaningful explanation than just a face
in a mirror. I like the fact you can see certain facial
features although this photo doesn’t give away
complete identity of the person.
Light Source
There isn’t a clear direction of light however it
appears that an overhead light has been used to
create a shadow on one side of the model’s face in
the reflection. This image overall has quite a bright
finish and appears as if it was taken in a very light
setting.
Focus and perspective
This photo is really interesting because even though you can’t directly see the model you still remain
to have a strong eye contact with the camera as she appears to be looking straight into the lens.

5. Fergus Padel - Everyday
I have chosen six of my favourite photos from Fergus’s portfolio. The reason I have chosen these photos is because
they are in a simple setting to how I’m going to start taking my photographs as my project is starting off as a self
portrait shoot. However in the photos below clothes and fashion aren’t the main subject matter although it does
play a small important part. One of the most interesting things I find about looking at Fergus’s photographs is the
use and adaptation of natural light within his shot making a very successful outcome.

Composition
I was unsure when first looking at this photograph whether it had been composed using the rule or
thirds however because the model is the main point of focus she appears slightly more towards the
middle and centre point of the photograph.
Initial idea and thought process
I was initially drawn to this photograph
because of the effect made by the window
light as I thought it improved the photo
overall making it a little more interesting.
Another reason why I was interested in this
photograph is because of the everyday like
location and setting as it looks very
homelike and natural rather than a set up
scene just for the photograph.
Light Source
Natural window/daylight is the main light source in this photo. This is shown by the shadows on the
wall, floor and the model. The shadows created by the window becomes one of the main focal points
because of the interesting pattern that has been made.
Focus and perspective
In this photograph you can see the whole
model and a large area of space around her
however she is making direct eye contact
with the camera making the photo appear
staged rather than natural.

7. Mel Bles - Layered Portraits
I have chosen five of my favourite photos from Mel’s portfolio. The reason I have chosen these photos is because I
have always been hugely interested in multiple images and layering of photos. It is something which I have often
featured in projects of my own. I would once again like to experiment however this time taking influence from Mel
and including patterns and textures to my work.

Composition
This photo appears to be composed as a standard portrait
photo which has then been edited and developed.
Initial idea and thought process
I was immediately drawn to this image because of the use of multiple images which is something
which I have previously used in one of my projects before and really enjoyed and is something which I
would like to experiment with again.
Light Source
It is unclear to detect where a clear amount of light is
coming from or what kind of lighting was used because
the photo has been edited and manipulated in Photoshop.
However it appears that the portrait photo was taken in a
studio beforehand so it is possible that studio lights were
used and one single spotlight would’ve been shone on of
the right side of the model’s face to make it easier when
erasing part of the face in the manipulation process.
Focus and perspective
At a first glance it appears that the model is looking directly
into the camera lens however on more investigation it
appears that they are looking slightly downwards, just
below the camera making the photo become a little more
interesting.

9. Olivia Fremineau – Layered Filters
I have chosen seven of my favourite photos from Olivia’s portfolio. I have chosen these because I fill that they match
my initial aim and starting point of what I am aiming to achieve. I feel they look simplistic as well as very interesting
with multiple different stories behind each image. I can now look at these photos for inspiration of colour schemes
when creating the set and subject matter for my photographs.

10. Olivia Fremineau – Artist AnalysisRESEARCH
Composition
This photo was composed using the use of negative space between and around the objects.
Initial idea and thought process
I really liked this photo because it was different to
what I had previously been looking at within
fashion photography however it was similar to the
kind of photos which I have collected on my visual
mood board and what I had as an idea in mind of
displaying items of clothing to create an outfit.
Light Source
From the way the light is reflecting off of some of
the objects it appears that there was a spotlight
overhead of the tripod projecting light making the
scene brighter and creating a little shadow from
some of the objects onto the background.
Focus and perspective
From this photo I have gathered that the scene was
laid out on a flat surface and the photo was then
taken from an up above angle also known as ‘birds
eye view’ giving the effect of looking down on the
objects.
