CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

- 3. Virus, bacteria, parasites. They are all external agents (‘pathogens’) that can attack our bodies.
- 4. What is currently happening with the virus that causes Covid-19 is that it is the first time that this pathogen is in contact with the global population and people do not have the immune system prepared yet to face it in an effective way.
- 5. For this reason, the infections multiply rapidly, and the world’s population must confront itself with a pandemic that is very hard to control. Developing vaccines is one of the most effective strategies to confront the Covid-19 pandemic.
- 6. Vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them. It uses our body’s immune system to build resistance to specific infections.
- 8. 01. 02. Vaccination is the strategy that we have as a society to create a collective memory in our immune system facing this new disease. A massive vaccination campaign is essential for the whole world population to confront the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, stopping its spread, and avoiding sickness.
- 9. What is herd or population immunity?
- 10. Not everyone can receive vaccines: Some people, like those who are seriously ill, are advised not to get vaccinated; they are considered ‘vulnerable’. These people can still be protected if they live among other people who are vaccinated.
- 11. The larger the immunized population, the less likely those who remain vulnerable run the risk of being exposed to harmful pathogens. This is what is called herd or population immunity.
- 12. Don’t forget! Immunization programs are only successful when there are high rates of acceptance and coverage. The vaccine protects you, but it also protects those people who cannot be vaccinated for various reasons. Get vaccinated and feel the importance of your contribution in doing so.
