I. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
This course, Reading & Vocabulary Skills _L1, fruitfully shapes up the practical skills on how to
build more vocabulary and enrich the reading skills_ ability to read effectively and quickly. Moreover,
the learners will read the stories and as well as the basic background information of the different kinds
of animals in terms of the kiwis; the camels; the hippopotamus; the polar bears; the dolphins; and so on.
These lessons would introduce the learners with the fundamental information about the animals that are
illustrated in the course book.
After reading, they will be researching for more information about the particular lesson, and they
then are going to discuss about the topic and the information from other resources. The group
discussions are processed frequently in order to offer chances to the learners to gain benefits of general
knowledge of the certain topic being discussed, teamwork_how to work collaboratively to achieve the
learning goal or success, and multi-ideas from group members. During this processes, they are critically
thinking about the prediction of some particular conditions of the animals in terms of food and the way
in which they are living in the environment. In addition, not only group discussions are applied, but
also the individual works and pair-works are exactly functional, too.
Then, they are sharing the tasks delegated with positive attitudes and collaboration. While the
responsible group is presenting their own task, the rest are to listen to the presenters carefully, observe

how the presenters display their findings, and significantly ask constructive questions. Furthermore, the
lecturer is to guide, facilitate, and instruct the processes of the overall tasks, and he is also to leave the
productively constructive feedbacks to the relevant persons at the end of each presentation. Doing so
can obviously be a learner-centered-method/approach, which is the 21st
century instructing style. In
fact, the learners will be more active than the instructors since is the best way on how to produce the
quality class_the learners have enough time to research and share with the other classmates.
All in all, the learners are to work accountably and efficiently in the class with the relevant persons
in order to get involved with various productive activities in terms of the delegated assignments.
II. COURSE OBJECTIVES
This respective subject is run across the matters of reading and vocabulary skills in English. In a
sense, it is the study cases about the animals, so the learners are to work excitedly with classmates in
order to discover the success of the respective course. Hence, they have to achieve the following
objectives in order to meet the final success of the course.
At the end of the academic course, the learners will be able to:
- Dynamically get involved with the reading and vocabulary tasks.
- Basically be familiar with background information of animals, vocabulary and reading skills.
- Effectively share the concepts and opinions of the lessons with the class.
- Productively be able to describe the information of the animals.
- Efficiently practice the vocabulary and reading skills in their real lives.

VI. TEACHING METHODS
As the earlier mentioned in the course description, there are various techniques and activities for the
learners and the lecturer to collaboratively work together in order to achieve the objectives proposed.
For instance, group discussions, pair-work, individual work, group assignment, individual assignment,
tests, homework, sharing sessions, individual presentation, group presentation, teacher-centered-
approach, learner-centered-method, and other related activities will be dynamically processed during
the respective academic course. All above mentioned tasks are about the practical activities of the
reading & vocabulary skills_L1.

VIII. COURSE POLICY
1. Cheating: Any cheating, plagiarism, copying of any assignments from textbooks, Internet, and
friends’ will be not allowed. It may seriously result in a failing grade.
2. Attendance: All students are expected to attend all the class sessions regularly and punctually.
3. Class Participation: Participation in class, discussions, sharing, and asking questions are
required and considered as parts of course assessments.
4. Phone Use: Students have to turn off their phones or keep in silent mode during class time.
5. Mid-Semester Exam & Homework & Final Exam: Students will automatically get an “F” if
they are found cheating.
6. Tardiness: Lateness is an unacceptable behavior, the students will be considered an absence if
she or he is late twice.
