We hold regular coffee mornings,

introductory sessions to a range of

One in four of us have difficulty with reading, writing and
spellings. This class will help you improve these skills
in a confidential small group setting.

Introductory course: Helps build literacy skills in

Community Education Classes
These classes will generally run from Sept – May 2015 unless otherwise stated
ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)
Course costs €145.00 to include Skills Card and
Materials. Weekly payment plan in place.

Positive Parenting 10 Week Programme
Take your parenting skills to the next level with simple
tips to help manage the big and small problems of family
life. This 10 week course supports you to enhance and
build relationships within families
3. Spirals4 Week Programme
This programme is for young parents of children aged
from birth to three years. The programme explores
books and toys, and discusses feeding, nutrition, and
child safety. Workshops include interactive play
sessions each week. All materials are provided

A holistic programme which empowers you to
understand and look after your emotional health,
increases self-awareness and build confidence. Identify

This part time programme will help you develop personal
qualities and knowledge required for employment in
social services. This could include working with family
and community groups in respite care, residential units

short informal interview that will support you to select
the most appropriate course to meet your needs. Some

sional development in the community and voluntary
sector and offers the following programmes.
An Cosán is currently offering the following third level part time modular programmes validated by IT Carlow under
delegated authority from Quality and Qualifications Ireland QQI (formally HETAC). These programmes are developed
in the context of adult education and lifelong learning and are intended for mature students. Minimum entry

Childcare and Development Special Purpose
Award QQI HETAC Level 6 Fee Paying
The aim of this module is to provide the student with an
understanding of the required physical care of a child, in
partnership with parents which addresses develop-
mental progress and nutrition.
BA Degree Applied Addiction Studies and

This three year part time programme provides an
academic qualification in the area of addiction and
community development work. It will build the capacity
of drugs workers and volunteers to become increasingly
effective leaders and reflective practitioners.

This three part time programme aims to build the
capacity of individuals to effect change in their local
community, the opportunity to build on participants’
existing knowledge base, apply theory to practice and

early childhood professionals to become competent to
