Lou Gehrig was a baseball player for the New York Yankees from 1925 to 1939. He played in 2,130 consecutive games, a record that still stands today. In the late 1930s, Lou began experiencing health issues and was eventually diagnosed with ALS, now known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Despite his illness, Lou continued playing baseball until 1939 when he retired at age 36. He passed away from ALS two years later in 1941.
