Correlational research examines the relationships between two or more variables. It determines how changes in one variable correlate with changes in another variable without external influence. The purpose is to understand statistical relationships between variables by analyzing collected data and determining a correlation coefficient between -1 and 1. A positive correlation means an increase in one variable correlates with an increase in the other. A negative correlation means an increase in one variable correlates with a decrease in the other. Zero correlation means the variables are independent.
