 WHAT IS CORPORATE SOCIAL
RESPONCIBILITY ?
 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as
the voluntary activities undertaken by a company
to operate in an economic, social and
environmentally sustainable manner.
 WHY IS CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY
IMPORTANT IN BUSINESS ?
 When companies operate in an economically, socially and
environmentally responsible manner, and they do so transparently, it
helps them succeed, in particular through encouraging shared value
and social license. Management and mitigation of social and
environmental risk factors are increasingly important for business
success abroad, as the costs to companies of losing that social license,
both in terms of share price and the bottom line, may be significant.
 MONEY SPENT IN CSR
 The new Companies Act, enacted last fiscal, mandates
every company with a net worth of Rs 100 crore to set
aside minimum 2 per cent of their three-year average
annual net profit for CSR activities India's largest private
sector enterprise Reliance Industries has spent over Rs 700
crore of its net profit on corporate social responsibility
last fiscal and significant sums went into healthcare and
rural development initiatives.

 Health and safety are of universal concern across the
spectrum of communities.
 Reliance provide all possible support to create awareness on
various health issues impacting the local people.
 Reliance work with various NGOs like: Nirman, AYUDA ETC.
 Reliance come up with health camps like health check up,
gynecology camps, eye camps etc.
 They provide free medicine.
 CSR IN EDUCATION
 Education is a basic tool to bring development to
an area and its people.
 Through education Reliance expose to technology
along with a sustainable education model.
 Reliance is involved in a series of activities that
have changed the lives of the people residing at
the sites.
 Reliance made many school across India and they
provide all kind of facilities to all the students.
Like their uniforms, first aids , study materials etc.
 CSR IN EMPLOYMENT
 Employment is an integral part of the business
environment and the basic commitment lies towards
augmenting the overall economic and social development
of local communities by discharging our social
responsibilities in a sustainable manner.
 Reliance invest significantly in skill upgradtion not only the
employees but also the people.
 Like:- computer coaching Centre, English speaking,
personality development classes etc.
 Reliance trained not only the men but also the women in
the villages, and effort to empower them in soft skill like
tailoring, poultry farming etc.

POLICY IMPARATIVES
 Reliance work not only business but also the
human touch beyond policy.
 Reliance strive to provide basic amenities like
electrification in the villages, augmentation and
development of grazing lands for the cattle of the
villages.
 Reliance work old age support for senior citizens
of the project affect families.
 They are also doing moral and financial support is
extended during social occasions like marriages,
community prayers and other such occasions.
