ABSTRACT
A growing number of people are interacting on the web to express and share their views and
knowledge of products and brands through social networks (Valck et al. 2009). For consumers,
some social networks’ profiles serve as a reference in their purchasing decision process, since
these profiles are perceived as giving their personal unbiased opinion (Efimova and Hendrick
2005). Within this context, this research aims to investigate interactions at Instagram,
identifying how followers consume content from the fitness profiles on this social
network—focused on body cult and physical beauty—and how this content may influence them.
This study is based on the view of consumption as a social activity, capable of producing
meanings and identities (Arnould and Thompson 2005), and uses the contributions of
sociologist Bourdieu (1989, 1991) as a theoretical framework for the interpretation of the
results.

Instagram is an American photo and video sharing social networking service
owned by meta platforms.This information should be clear, concise, and easy to
understand. Start with a brief introduction to your business, including your
name, what you do, and what sets you apart from your competitors. You can
also include your mission statement, values, or tagline to give viewers a better
understanding of your brand.

points that are commonly covered in Instagram's terms as of my last knowledge
update in January 2022:
Eligibility:
Users must be at least 13 years old to use Instagram. If you are under
18, you should have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Account Creation:
Users are responsible for providing accurate information during account creation, including a valid email
address and not creating accounts on behalf of others without their permission.
Privacy:
Instagram's Privacy Policy outlines how user data is collected and used. Users are encouraged to
review this policy to understand how their information is handled.
Content Ownership:
Users retain ownership of the content they post, but by using Instagram, they grant Instagram a license
to use, display, and share their content.
Content Guidelines:
Users should not post content that violates Instagram's Community Guidelines, including content that is
illegal, harmful, or infringing on the rights of others. This includes not posting hate speech, harassment,
or explicit content.
Safety and Security: Users are expected to keep their accounts and passwords secure. Sharing
login information, attempting to access another user's account, and any form of hacking are prohibited.

  • 5. ABSTRACT A growing number of people are interacting on the web to express and share their views and knowledge of products and brands through social networks (Valck et al. 2009). For consumers, some social networks’ profiles serve as a reference in their purchasing decision process, since these profiles are perceived as giving their personal unbiased opinion (Efimova and Hendrick 2005). Within this context, this research aims to investigate interactions at Instagram, identifying how followers consume content from the fitness profiles on this social network—focused on body cult and physical beauty—and how this content may influence them. This study is based on the view of consumption as a social activity, capable of producing meanings and identities (Arnould and Thompson 2005), and uses the contributions of sociologist Bourdieu (1989, 1991) as a theoretical framework for the interpretation of the results.
