1) New media can be used in the classroom in two ways - for learning from new media by exposing students to messages through technology, and for learning with new media by empowering students to construct their own representations of knowledge.
2) Incorporating new media into the classroom should involve interactive, hands-on activities but avoid overloading students. Students should be allowed to interact with new media sites.

The document discusses how opponents will attempt to discourage people from achieving their goals both externally and internally. Externally, opponents will criticize and ridicule their efforts, as seen in Nehemiah 4:1-5 when Sanballat ridiculed the Jews for rebuilding the wall. Internally, people may feel discouraged by obstacles and say the work is too difficult, as in Nehemiah 4:10 when the people said they were too weak. However, the document says to remember God and keep fighting for your cause in order to overcome discouragement. Helen Keller is also discussed as an example of persevering despite facing immense challenges as a deaf-blind person.
Local machine learning focuses on analyzing subsets of available training data rather than the complete dataset. It seeks to find solutions tailored to specific data points rather than universal functions. This allows it to better handle issues like uneven data distribution. Local learning methods include k-nearest neighbors and support vector machines, which select nearby training examples or "support vectors" to make predictions. They can solve problems global models cannot by focusing training locally where data is linearly separable.

Project “Internal Controls remediation / Compliancy to Sarbanes-Oxley 404” for
a Global provider of technology and metering solutions for Utility industry –
Cape Town- August 2011 to Feb 2012
Business Issue : Internal controls remediation for the South African entity of this global provider is a recurrent and
burning issue for the Global Accounting Executive. The problem needs to be tackled with local teams in Cape Town
before the start of the respective scheduled internal and external (attestation) audit. Great trust and confidence is given
to Resources Global Professionals in Belgium and its team to take up this challenge and provide best practice solutions in
order to secure green flags for compliancy with Sarbanes-Oxley.
How Resources helped: Our Client Service Director worked closely with two accomplished and committed Resources
Global Professionals Consultants to assess and solve the situation and to help the client. Leadership was given to more
senior profiles and a project plan was set-up with a clear scope statement, stakeholder management, deliverables and
milestone planning/deadline. Periodical follow-up between the consultants working onsite, the Client Service Director
and client senior leadership in US. A true T.E.A.M. approach, Together Each One Achieves More!
Outcome: Our Resources Global Professionals consultants successfully delivered a complete set of accounting and
finance Cycle Key Control procedures for the South African entity that made great impact locally as well as within the rest
of the organization. Remediation and tests were completed, deficiencies solved collaboratively with the local client team,
sharing best practices and knowledge with them. Coaching, Internal Control manuals and workshops were delivered
locally to make recent changes sustainable.
Project: “Coordinating the carve-out of accounting and finance department ” for
one of the leading asset management and securities services company –
Brussels – London – New-York - June 2010 to March 2011
Business Issue: Client Service Directors from Resources Global Professionals in London and New-York referred us about a
strategic position in Brussels to assist with the integration of two newly acquired banking activities in Germany, up to the
end of the preparatory state for the change of the computer systems to be used.
How Resources helped : Resources Global Professionals Financial Services Consultant in Brussels participated in several
conference calls with our client and our colleagues abroad and designed a custom approach for this strategic project. He
introduced a Program Management Office (PMO) consultant with strong statutory accounting background to play the
role of the “Belgian” link in the chain between Frankfurt, where the acquisition was done through a German Subsidiary
and Brussels and London, the European Headquarters of the Buyer. We coached and worked in close partnership with
the PMO consultant to face the complexity, multi-disciplinarity and industry-specific aspects of the assignment. Our
consultant worked in partnership with other Resources Global Professionals consultants involved in this project in New-
York and London. Our first reporting line was the Brussels CFO as well as the Global project lead in US. A lot of people
and departments were involved in various countries.
Outcome: Due to the PMO consultant in place in Brussels, the end state of the project was reached one month before
target date, which was highly appreciated because of the tight defined budget and deadline for the whole project
including Global IFRS implementation. In Belgium, it was essential for the PMO consultant , not only to act as a Project
Manager but also to be hands-on in statutory accounting: various simulations had to be delivered to solve bonds &
SWAP's issues and implicated the long term financial plans, the large exposure and the capital ratio.

2. Consulting. From the Inside Out.
Project “BeNeLux Commercial compliance audit + European compliance
procedures” - World’s leadind brands producer for beverage alcohol
Brussels - March 2010 to February 2011
Business Issue : The compliance manager for BeNeLux reached out to Resources Global Professionals in Belgium,
suspecting that numerous wrong invoices were sent to a large distributor on the Luxembourg market. In addition to this
request, there was a need to inventorise and summarize all compliance rules to create and distribute internally a set of
standard procedures.
How Resources helped: Our Client Service Director and our consultant presented a custom approach to the BeNeLux
compliance manager prior to the start of the assignment. Our seasoned auditor started a structured and in-depth
commercial compliance audit. A major finding emerged because incorrect data in our client’s SAP system were
generating multiple reductions to the audited distributor. Some products were sold under their minimum price. This
discovery led into a larger assignment than foreseen, where our consultant audited every commercial condition
performed for every client while the second part of the assignment started: Collecting and in-depth analysis of every
commercial compliance rule in the organization was realized and a clear standardized summary was developed and
presented together in a single binder.
Outcome: The close cooperation between our client, the consultant and the Client Service Director was beneficial to the
whole project. The first audit generated a return of 500k€: all extra reductions to which the clients of our client were not
entitled to were mostly recovered. In addition, the quality of the deliverable summarizing the compliance procedures
was so successful that the new developed binder was translated into English, French and German and is currently being
used in most of our client’s subsidiaries in Europe.
Project: “Implementing PMO reporting within Global Risk Management
Department” for a global financial institution –
Brussels – December 2010 to May 2011
Business Issue: After the take-over of a large financial services institution, our client wanted to integrate the acquired
Risk Reporting system into their own worldwide system. This was a complex project therefore an external PMO profile
was needed to run this project.
How Resources helped: Several meetings were needed to get a full understanding of the situation, existing parties in
place and propose the best approach to our client via a Request for Proposal (RFP). Together with our Financial Services
consultant, we carefully selected a senior PMO consultant to build the project plan, including detailed time plan and
budget. This required a lot of interaction with all parties involved ( i.e. ICT - The Risk Reporting Team - the different
business lines - accounting - ...) and from there lots of follow-up for the correct respect of deadlines & budget on an
ongoing basis and do the reporting to the "sponsor" of the project.
Outcome: Resources Global Professionals consultant developed, installed and executed new processes to support the
project managers in their project management activities: budget, forecast, planning, capacity, tracking. We delivered a
consolidated and uniform reporting (status, progress, risk) for the different project committees, maintained project
management, time tracking and reporting tools, acted as SPOC for project management, time tracking and reporting
tools, ensured the alignment on project tools and methods with the Global PMO, Setup and maintained Service Level
Agreements (SLA) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) as well as provided support on internal communication by defining
and executing the communication plan. Consequently, the integration of the Risk Reporting system was a success.
