Response Letter To Star Street
I hope you are well. Seven months ago you installed an iron gate for my company in the Star Street
neighborhood. This letter is in regards to the current situation of the gate, and the problems it is
causing one of my tenants. I would really appreciate help with this. I must bring to your attention that
due to the ground having settled, the gate doors are uneven and now drag when moved. Additionally,
it takes a lot of force to open them. This has made it difficult for my tenant to open and close it daily.
Along with this, the gate has begun to rust and has damaged the surrounding white paint. I have
attached pictures for your reviewal. Upon inspection there is no cement placed or indication to create a
level ground, which is common with all

The Domestication of the Last Frontier Essay
The Domestication of the Last Frontier
In 1865 the frontier line generally followed the western limits of the states bordering the Mississippi
River, bulging outward to include the eastern sections of Kansas and Nebraska. Beyond this thin edge
of pioneer farms, lay the prairie and sagebrush lands that stretched to the foothills of the Rocky
Mountains. Then, for nearly 1,600 kilometers, loomed the huge bulk of mountain ranges, many rich in
silver, gold and other metals. On the far side, plains and deserts were part of this region; here laid the
Last Frontier the Great Plains . For a long time, the region had been called the Great American
Dessert, a barrier to cross on the way to the Pacific, unfit for human habitation and ... Show more

By 1890 the frontier had disappeared.
Settlement was spurred by the Homestead Act of 1862, which granted free farms of 64 hectares to
citizens who would occupy and improve the land. Under the homestead Act of 1862 a farmer could
either realize the old dream of free land and simply by staking out a claim and living on it for years, or
by buying the land at $1.25 an acre after six months. (Tindall 878) Unfortunately for the would be
farmers, the land itself was suited more for cattle ranching than farming, and by 1880 nearly
22,400,000 hectares of free land was in the hands of cattlemen or the railroads.
In 1862 Congress also voted a charter to the Union Pacific Railroad, which pushed westward from
Council Bluffs, Iowa, using mostly the labor of ex soldiers and Irish immigrants. At the same time, the
Central Pacific Railroad began to build eastward from Sacramento, California, relying heavily on
Chinese immigrant labor. The whole country was stirred as the two lines steadily approached each
other, finally meeting on May 10, 1869, at Promontory Point in Utah. The months of laborious travel
hitherto separating the two oceans was now cut to about six days. The continental rail network grew
steadily, and by 1884, four great lines linked the central Mississippi Valley area with the Pacific.
The first great rush of population to the Far West was drawn to the mountainous regions, where gold
was found in California in 1848, in Colorado

Sanford Police Report Examples
On 02/09/2018 at 1101 hours, I responded to 2108 Magnolia Avenue Sanford FL. in reference to a
possible burglary to the residence. Upon my arrival I made contact with Karleen Stevenson (reporting
victim) who was waiting outside her residence. Stevenson stated that she noticed her residence
appeared to be disturbed and became afraid to entry her residence. I asked Stevenson if I could enter
the residence to ensure to Stevenson the residence was safe to enter. I requested to Seminole County
Dispatch for the emergency channel. I made entry to residence of 2108 Magnolia Ave, with the
assistance of Ofc. E. Rivera while identifying myself as Sanford Police . During my search, I

opened the garage door and noticed that cabinets that were previous closed are opened. Stevenson
stated that she walked into the laundry room area and discovered more previous closed cabinets were
opened. Stevenson advised that she was able to see into the kitchen from the laundry room and
discover that all the cabinets were opened. Stevenson stated that she exited the residence and called
the Sanford Police Department. Stevenson advised that she gave no permission to anyone to enter her
residence.
During my investigation, I was able to determine that a subject(s) made entry onto the property by
climbing a fence on the west side of the residence. The subject(s) broke the sliding door leading into a
bedroom on the far west side of the residence. During a quick inventory with Stevenson, I discovered
that a jewelry box of vintage jewelry and an approximately amount of 20 pieces of handmade jewelry

Diversity in the Galapagos Islands
If not for Charles Darwin, shown on the right, the world might not see the Galapagos Islands how we
do today. The islands hold exotic and extraordinary plants and animals. Of these animals, some are
going extinct or have already gone extinct. There are many varieties of natural and introduced plant
life. Charles Darwin was born February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. He sailed on the HMS
Beagle in 1831. He knew he was going to the Galapagos, but he didn t know that he would discover
the theory of evolution. The plants on the Galapagos Island are very tropical and numerous in varietes.
According to the Galapagos Conservancy there are about six hundred and forty native species of of
plants on the Galapagos Islands. There are about eight hundred and twenty five introducer species.
One hundred of the introduced species have become established in the wild. There are three major
zones that the plants live in ; the coastal zone, the arid zone, and the highlands zone. In the coastal
zone mangrove trees are very common and have an important role for bird breeding sites. The arid
zone is very dry and has adapted to the drought conditions. Some of these plants that have adapted to
the drought conditions are the succulent cacti and the leafless shrub, which only grows leaves in the
rainy season. The humid zones are lush and green. There are mosses and epiphytes growing on trees
for support. Some animals like the Galapagos penguin, shown on the right have adapted to the

Idiotism In The Book Thief
Rudy Steiner: A Dual Threat
In one of the cruelest twists in Markus Zusak s extraordinary and emotional book, The Book Thief, the
fictional city of Molching, Germany is bombed. As bombs rain down onto Himmel Street, Zusak
effectively kills off many important characters to dramatically conclude his novel. One of those
characters is illustrated as a lemon haired (267) teenager by the name of Rudy Steiner. Rudy is
arguably the most fascinating and intriguing person in The Book Thief largely due to the complexity
of his actions. He is a perfect example of one of the novel s themes: the dual nature of humans. Rudy
is an intelligent boy who purposefully makes the most idiotic decisions, a goal setter who deliberately
fails at the brink of success, and a thief possessing one of the biggest hearts a young boy could
possess. Although Rudy is a very bright individual, he is as capable of making foolish mistakes as any
other person, displaying a dual nature. Take for example his fate tempting adventure in Mamer s
Grocery Store, during the chapter Three Acts of Stupidity by Rudy Steiner, where he masterfully
weaves through a line of shoppers attempting to buy potatoes, almost escaping notice. As he reaches
the front, he seizes the largest potato of all which is unfortunately being eyed by many other hungry
Germans. Almost immediately, Rudy is surrounded by the other customers and restrained by the
grocer, Thomas Mamer, who threatens to call the police. The situation is looking bleak for Rudy until
he is struck by a stroke of genius. Spying in the crowd Herr Link, one of his schoolteachers, Rudy
urges him to convince the shopkeeper how poor he is. Herr Link recognizes Rudy s dire situation and
aids him in escaping the grocery store without any serious repercussions (293 299). Rudy s narrow
escape exemplifies a major part of his dual nature. His belief that he can steal the most magnificent
potato from a grocer and a crowd of hungry Germans is insane. However, his quick thinking shows
just how clever he can be.
Although his aforementioned theft attempt was unwise, Rudy s other act of stupidity was blatantly
intentional. While attending Hitler Youth Meetings, he comes to dislike the leader of his area Hitler

CHAPTER 4 Consolidation of Wholly Owned Subsidiaries Acquired at More than Book Value
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS Q4 1 The carrying value of the investment is reduced under equity

an impairment of goodwill occurs, and (d) the market value of the investment declines and is less than

The existence of a large differential indicates the parent paid well over book value to acquire
ownership of the subsidiary. When the differential is assigned to identifiable assets or liabilities of the
subsidiary, both the consolidated balance sheet and consolidated income statement are likely to
provide information not available in the financial statements of the individual companies. The
consolidated statements are likely to provide a better picture of the assets actually being used and the
resulting income statement charges that should be reported. Q4 10 Consolidated net income is equal to
the parent s income from its own operations, excluding any investment income from consolidated

Bmw, A Brand Image Of Luxury And Performance
BRAND INVENTORY
According to Interbrand, BMW is the 11th best global brand of 2015, with a brand value estimated at
$37,212 million. Its success can be credit to the high quality of products and service, innovative
engineering technology, and a well constructed marketing strategy that built a brand image of luxury
and performance.
Brand Elements
BMW, abbreviation of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (Bavarian Motor Works, in English), is a
simple but distinctive brand name. The company s name is meaningful and reinforces an important
attribute of its products: the high quality engine. The shortened form makes the brand name easier to
recall.
The brand logo, known as Roundel, combines a symbol with the company s name. The blue and white
represent the colors of Bavarian flag. The round shape and arrangement of the letters were inspired by
the Rapp logo, the aircraft engine manufacturer that preceded BMW. Thus, the distinctive logo
symbolizes the heritage behind the brand. It has been updated along the years (1917, 1933, 1953,
1979, and 2000) and the most recent adaption brought a modern aspect to the logo.
BMW has a memorable and recognizable slogan in the United States: The Ultimate Driving Machine ,
which captures the features of luxury and performance in only one product. The 40 years old
trademarked slogan is simple, descriptive and represents its positioning. The worldwide BMW slogan
Sheer Driving Pleasure indicates the good experience consumers have when are driving

Drumming Research Paper
Is drumming really difficult to me? In my opinion, drumming can be difficult at some times, and
understanding the concept of drumming wasn t easy at the start. When I first started trying to play the
drums, I didn t understand how to do it. I had no idea that drumming even had different styles and
beats. It took me quite awhile to fully comprehend how complex it really is. Drumming is not easy at
first, can be very complex, and requires a lot of practice. Learning to play the drums was not easy
when I first started figuring out how to play a beat. First of all, I didn t know which pieces I was
supposed to play. After observing another person play the drums, I saw that I needed to play the snare
(like in a marching band), hi hat (two cymbals put together), and bass drum (the big drum on the
bottom), and this combination became my first beat. Trying to play the bass drum with the hi hat and
snare confused me. I was fine playing the snare and hi hat, but I always messed up when I tried adding
the bass drum. I ended up having CJ play the bass drum while I played the hi hat and snare, which
lasted for over two months until I could play it myself. I was proud to finally be able to play a beat,
however I never knew about the many different different beats that you could play. ... Show more

First, there are different styles of drumming. How I play can depend on different things, such as what
the song itself is like. For example, one song could have a repeating, simple beat, but another song
could have a drum solo and super complex variations to the beat. There are also different speeds or
tempos for drumming. There may be songs that incorporate slow, easy to play beats, and there could
be other songs that have very fast drumming, such as heavy metal. Due to the varieties of drumming
styles and speeds, it takes practice to get used to the different

Sports are all kinds of fun. You can always make new friendships within your team, or another. You
can have fun playing like when you serve in volleyball, or hit a homerun in softball or baseball. You
can also make sure the whole team has fun by encouraging them or taking them to a spa day. It s good

Performance Championship Titles
Different Performance Championship Titles Your Dog Can Earn
For dogs to have a championship or Ch designation that is added as a prefix to their name, they must
qualify for a championship. In the past, title are earned from conformation shows, where dogs are

Maxine Greene s Shapes Of Childhood Recalled
In Shapes of Childhood Recalled by Maxine Greene the author explores how children and humans
alike absorb and construe the world around them, from shapes and outlines to forming an
understanding and fitting this information in their schema. Greene takes the reader on a journey in this
passage from children not having any prior knowledge about their surrounding environment to being
able to retrieve learned material. Many philosophers have used the term tabula rasa to describe how
not only children learn from experiences and are initially born as a blank slate but also as adults
continue to learn from what they encounter in life. This term was first introduced by John Locke in the

Merriam Webster defines the noun horizon as: the limit or range of a person s knowledge,

Chinese And English Language Learners
Abstract
This paper attempts to better educate general education classroom teachers about working with
Chinese speaking English Language Learner (ELL) students. The audience for this paper is teachers
who do not have knowledge of Chinese language and culture or a history of working with Chinese
ELLs. Through a discussion of Chinese educational culture, a comparison of Chinese and English
languages, and a list of suggested teaching strategies, this author hopes to provide valuable
information for classroom teachers to improve their work with Chinese ELLs. Similarities and
differences between Chinese and English will be highlighted so that teachers can gain a better
understanding of what will be completely new to Chinese ELL students in a United States school, and
what previous knowledge these students have that they can transfer to their study of English.
A review of previously published research and case studies frames the topics covered in this paper.
With more information about Chinese culture and language, general education teachers in the United
States should feel better prepared to work with Chinese ELLs.

Role Of Policing In Contemporary Society
Policing in a Contemporary Society
Policing is a vital and visible component of our criminal justice system. To protect and serve is a basic
responsibility of every police department, specifically in Canada. In Canada, citizens have a lot of
faith in the police, as they look forward to police for any kind of safety concerns they may have, yet
people are also very quick to judge the police. The police play an important role in minimizing threats
and maximizing safety of their citizens. The role of the police in our society is shaped by social,
economic and political factors.
Sir Robert Peel
In 1829, Peel succeeded in having the London Metropolitan Act passed by the parliament and this led
to a creation of a 3,200 member professional police forces which replaced various law enforcement
systems existing in London at the time (Goff 2017, pg.152). One of their key responsibilities was to
serve the public by dealing with their situations by preventing and detecting any crime. This approach
of policing was based on the policing by public consent, which meant that the police act for their
citizens, and not over them. The public accepted this idea of modern policing, which was the right of
the police to maintain law and order. This approach of policing became so well known, that it spread
to countries like Canada, the United States, and Australia.
Problem Oriented Policing
The Problem oriented policing represented a fundamental change in the way police operated, the

to adopt his view of progress and his rationale of trade and exchange, his interpretations of the biblical

The dyes in the laboratory experiment are made of numerous colors, mainly red and blue, the spectra
from each of the dyes corresponded to the wavelengths obtained from each of dye i.e. 620 nm for red

Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) works in relation to the polarity of chemicals. A plate is first
covered with aluminum foil or silica etc. and has solutions of varying polarities placed upon the
aluminum foil or silica. When placed in a in a puddle of solvent that moves up the plate, the different
inks i.e. the solution will move up the place based on their Rf values. Adherence increases with
increasing polarity, so the less polar compounds will be carried farther by the solvent. Eventually the
dyes will separate into their compontnets, which can be visibly seen. This is then used to determine

What Best Buy s Minneapolis Headquarters During Their...
Key Issues:
This week s case analysis captures the Best Buy s Minneapolis headquarters during their transition
towards the Results Only Work Environment program (ROWE). This anecdote spans from a period of
over 6 years (2003 2009), and in relation to our reading this week, exemplifies a company in the midst
of a culture change. During the initial phase, the ROWE program was isolated from retail stores and
exclusively offered to only the 4,000 headquarter employees (75% enrolled at the time of the case).
The story of ROWE within the Best Buy organization has spawned favorable statistics within the
company (e.g., productivity increases of 35 percent within 9 months, voluntary turnover drops of 52
90 percent, and overall increase in employee morale for departments within the program). Despite the
warranted success of the program, the Best Buy enterprise continues to face some resistance and
difficulties with extending the program beyond headquarters. Nevertheless, the key issues to be
discussed are as follows:
In regards to chapter 16, the process of organizational socialization starts at the selection process. Best
Buy has stymied organizational culture shift by allowing the transition to be at the discretion of the
department managers.
Managers have displayed a dominant resistant to change. Therefore, how does leadership mold
attitudes of managers to accommodate/facilitate a holistic cultural change?

Starting with the collection (zakat), the collection and to determine, assess and determine who is

Muslims have to pay zakat fit rah. Ramadan is a month for Muslims purification themselves from the
evil character that can damaged their faith. Zakat is a way for us to free ourselves from sin and thus in
the month of Ramadan many Muslims must pay zakat fit rah because the nature of the name indicates
that we need to return to the original nature where we not have bad character. From payment of zakat
we can help other people in distress. After Ramadan will be the inclusion of Syawal then zakat money
by Muslims can be given to people who don t have afford to find the money. As we do we can also
ease the burden of others who do not have the ability like us. Zakat is associated with fasting because
without charity we would be arrogant and selfish despite the fasting month of Ramadan then we just
got disobedience of Allah. Fasting also has to do with the charity because of the fast we can encourage
people to pay zakat caused when fasting Muslims to be thrifty and from the benefit of fasting Muslim

clothes from the finest stores in Beverly Hills. No more shopping in Flea markets and looking for
bargains. I was living the life I d always wanted and didn t have to work so hard in getting it like
everybody else.
But on one crazy afternoon, things didn t go as planned. The plan was to walk in and walk out. In less
then two minutes we d have to retrieve the gem. The decoys were Ben and I and Richard was the front
man. All it needed was three men for the job. No one was home; at least we thought there wasn t
anyone. The family of the house was having a birthday party for little Johnny outside in the garden
and still figured we could manage to go inside and get the job done without them realizing.
Surprisingly, as things were about to come to an end little Johnny walked in to find me stealing his
rich grandfather s red rose. His screams echoed all through and around the house, alarming everyone.
Little Johnny became our only ticket out. We took him in

Who Is Susan B Anthony A Hero
She was severe in her moral judgments, had sympathy for people, and dedicated her life to the
movements for reform. Susan B. Anthony spoke her mind about what she believed in. She grew up
feeling that everyone should be equal no matter your gender or color. In the world, she noticed that
this was everyone s philosophy men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing
less (Susan B(rownell) Anthony). Anthony informed many about temperance. She elucidated how
everyone should be equal. She supported that black men needed to be free and encouraged people to
make everyone equal. Susan B. Anthony used her voice to help people cognize the evils of alcohol and
that all people are equal, proving she is a hero. People didn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Anthony was insane for trying women equal but she always told herself that [F]ailure was impossible
(qtd. in Matthews). Anthony registered to vote in Rochester and was charged $100 fine that she never
paid, [I]n 1872 after concluding that nothing in the Constitution specifically prohibited women from
voting (Susan B. Anthony). She refused to pay because it wasn t fair that men got to vote but women
didn t. What made men more important than women? Some saw no point in women voting; with no
understanding of politics, they would only vote as their menfolk told them (Lavender, William, and
Mary). This is why people insulted and made fun of her, she believed in something not very many
other people did. She needed to get men to agree with her. When Susan B. Anthony began the women
s suffrage movement ...women had few legal rights. [T]oday women have opportunities for higher
education, the privilege of working at almost any occupation, the right to control or own property and
children, the right to hold public office, and the right to vote (Susan B.. Anthony). Through Susan
Anthony s hard work, efforts, and dedication she helped the world of women better. She knew that
women were capable of things that nobody else thought we were able to do. Anthony never got to see
the ratification of the 19th Amendment, because it took a century to get the world to agree with her.
Before this happened, she wanted to get black men out of slavery so more people would start to like

Education Is The Most Important Aspect Of Life
Philosophers say that life is one unending lesson, that the absorption of knowledge never ends. This
motto is superbly represented in all of the pieces that Ms. Frankenberg s Composition class has read,
watched, or listened to. Whether this education has been obvious or not, through a classroom or
another medium, it is usually delivered in lessons that are meant to last a lifetime. By dissecting all of
the aspects that can be taken from these educational situations, the credit goes to those who taught
them, and it is to those individuals whom we should give credit for the lesson. These lessons are great
additions to their legacy resume , or the unofficial track of a person s accomplishments throughout
their lifetime. It is in this way that legacy can be discovered, even if legacy means something different
to each individual.
Education is the most important aspect of life; parents teach their children, teachers educate their
students, employers train their employees, and even the President of the United States is educated on
important details by his advisors. Education does not just mean a school and a professor, it means any
learning at anytime and anywhere. This reason is exactly why education is one of the most crucial
parts of any legacy. Education is universal, without it no one would even know what a legacy is, much
less retain the intelligence to create a legacy of their own. Throughout the years knowledge has
improved, more people made names for themselves in their

Native Americans And Treaties with the Government

Chief Qwatsina s of the Lakota Tribe. The plain natives, a respectful people, took from the land what
they needed and always gave back. The settlers that came thought they were smarter and more
advanced than the natives, and viewed the natives as being inferior. In reality it was the exact
opposite. It was the settlers that had forgotten that the most basic way of life was the smartest way of
life. The settlers were clouded by their vast knowledge that they convinced themselves that their way

In the book Buffalo Jones Forty Years of Adventure written by Charles Jones, Jones describes the
Plain Indians as, The most tenacious of life than any race I have ever encountered. The Plain Natives
consisting primarily of Blackfoot, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, Lakota, saw the bison a sacred
animal because it provided almost everything they needed to survive. A good bison kill would weigh
about 2,000 pounds, 800 pounds of which was good to eat. The natives could use the bladder and
stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides were used as cover for teepees and the various
bones as weapons. The Plain Natives believed that the bison were created by the Great Spirit for the
soul purpose of keeping their tribes alive, making them cherish the bison as a literal life line. In Jones
s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big Indian of the Cheyenne tribe. In this way when
Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of bison was, Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with
excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters that he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100
Indians came from miles away to the signaled spot. Every able bodied man from the tribe was out
hunting for bison. This shows how important the bison were for the natives. When a single herd of
bison was sighted it was so important that every man in the tribe would leave their wives and children
at risk to hunt down the herd. During the mid 1800 s, the American frontiersmen were

Who Is The Jerk In The Scarlet Letter
Hawthorne s Arthur Dimmesdale and Roger Chillingworth have never been characters free of
controversial discourse in the 19th century Romantic novel, The Scarlet Letter. The topic on which of
the two characters is the bigger jerk often leaves readers scratching their heads. After all, both
characters extensively worry about themselves while pursuing self satisfaction, at the expense of
Hester Prynne, in particular. However, there are a handful of individuals that believe that
Chillingworth s intellectual superiority and manipulative plans conveniently label him as a jerk. But,
the only label of jerk that can be applied to him is that of an emotionally insecure jerk. Dimmesdale,
on the other hand, a man that appears to be holy, embodies selfishness. ... Show more content on

However, it is true that he plays a role in the sufferings of Hester and Dimmesdale. But what or who
made Chillingworth transform from a man thoughtful of others, craving little for himself into the
devilish he is known to be (156)? That of course is no other than Dimmesdale. After all, Dimmesdale
was the man that slept with his wife during his absence. And the fact that Dimmesdale made Hester
promise to conceal his identity only further provoked Chillingworth. He lived by the vow:
Dimmesdale shall be mine (68). It was this newfound obsession on revenge that made his dark
complexion grow duskier and his figure more misshapen (101). Furthermore, when Hester asks him
why he does not torture her, he responds, I have left thee to the scarlet letter (156). Chillingworth
acknowledges the pain the scarlet letter inflicts to Hester. Dimmesdale, however, constantly believes
that his own suffering is greater than the pain associated with the letter, making him both stubborn and
heartless. Although Chillingworth aches for the misery of others, Dimmesdale s self obsession,
selfishness, and self pity causes more damage to others than all of the manipulative plans of
Chillingworth combined. Without a doubt, Arthur Dimmesdale is the biggest schmuck in 19th century

The State s Transportation System
One of the challenges that the Texas government is failing to keep up with is the state s transportation
system due to the increased population. From 2000 2010 the population has grown by over 4 million
people. As of now Texas also has the largest transportation infrastructure in the nation. So can the state
of Texas keeps up with the projected increased population of fifty million people by 2040? Or will the
state cuts corners and let the infrastructure fall by the weigh side? These are two of the concerns that
Texans want answers to. As member of our communities we have to hold the Texas Department of
Transportation accountable to their mission statement; which is to provide safe and reliable
transportation solutions in Texas. To get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is, Texans already spend more than they should on the Texas transportation system. By
failing to invest in highways, the cost is shifted to consumers in the form of wasted time stuck in
traffic, damage to vehicles, accelerated tire wear, and increased likelihood of being in a serious
accident (The Cost). Drivers, truckers, visitors spend countless hours stuck in traffic, costing
businesses time and money, polluting the air, and the wear and tear of the roads (Agency 8). Also due
to congestion, costs the Texas economy 10.8 billion per year, which they push onto the citizens
through groceries and goods you buy that have transportation cost. The average annual hours of delay
a commuter has in a Texas Metro area are at or above 37 hours. The city of Houston leads delays with
about 50 hours per year. In 15 years if the transportation system is still underfunded could rise up to
74 hours (The Cost 2). Every driver in Texas should know what the differences that they are paying
for the transportation system being underfunded and well funded. Currently households are investing
$232 per year, which comes out costing drivers $6,095 in total vehicle use and maintenance cost. If
drivers invest an additional $279 reduces total vehicle cost to $4,228 and saves them $1,558. An
additional $402 more each year will also cut their cost to $3,652 and save them $2,041. So raising
highway investments will save drivers money in the long run. Drivers all know that vehicle

Malware Problem Analysis Paper
Problem
Malware, as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, refers to a program that is
covertly inserted into another program with the intent to destroy data, run destructive or intrusive
programs, or otherwise compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the victim s data,
applications or operating system. (M. K., 2013) This is a threat to all companies with any type of
internet access and/or electronic information storage. That is currently a large number of both small
and big businesses.
Some important terms to take into account here is confidentiality, integrity and availability. These
terms are known as CIA and are the core principles of information security. Malware will affect all
three indefinitely if left unchecked. This will not only hurt a company s revenue but will potentially
also hurt their reputation if wide scale enough. Malware is, by Gulf South Tech Solutions, considered
to be the biggest threat to a business. With over 5,000 new malware attacks every day, the average
time to resolve being over 25 days, the average financial cost being $3 million, and over 60% of the
websites that infect a computer being legitimate sites that were compromised makes defense of
paramount importance now more than ever. (Gulf South Technology Solutions, 2015)
Solution
The fix to the Malware problem is the implementation of the NIST SP 800 83 regulation. It covers all
aspects of malware handling and will assist in mitigating the

Social Injustice In If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Different is Unique
Social injustice affects many people around the world. Race, religion, class, gender, and sexual
orientation are all apart of social injustice, outside characteristics are the first thing one is judged
upon. Today in society people get judged and dehumanized everyday, because they are looked at first
by their outside characteristics. In the realistic fiction books If You Come Softly by Jacqueline
Woodson, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, and Miracle s boys also by Jacqueline
Woodson the authors demonstrate that social injustice can occur when individuals are viewed by only
their outward characteristics and beliefs.

Also people were treated in a way based off of their economic class. Bruno a young boy lived with his

the way father spoke to her. You get your hands off my things (Boyne 1). In addition, Mariah is in a
lower class socially and economically, his father treated her like she was less than and had some type
of sickness. Bruno and his family had recently moved to Berlin for his father s job. His father was
apart of the Nazi soldiers and high up in the Nazi government. The Jewish people were captured and
put into concentration camps, were tortured, and dehumanized. No, not them, said Bruno. The people I

Father, nodding his head and smiling slightly. Those people . . . well, they re not people at all, Bruno
(Boyne 53). That all happened because of their religious beliefs. The Jewish community was turned
into less than they were. Also they were made into prisoners and people did not want to be seen with
them. Do you know this boy? repeated Kolter in a louder voice. Have you been talking to the
prisoners? (Boyne 172).

In his essay The Indolence of the Filipino , Rizal cited at least ten (10) reasons why the Filipinos
became indolent. Choose five (5) if of these reasons and discuss fully how Rizal linked it to the lives
of the Filipinos of Spanish colonial society. First, the establishment of the Galleon Trade cut off all
previous associations of the Philippines with other countries in Asia and the Middle East. As a result,
business was only conducted with Spain through Mexico. Because of this, the small businesses and
handicraft industries that flourished during the pre Spanish period gradually disappeared. Second,
Spain also extinguished the natives love of work because of the implementation of forced labor.
Because of the wars between Spain and other countries in Europe as well as the Muslims in
Mindanao, the Filipinos were compelled to work in shipyards, roads, and other public works,
abandoning agriculture, industry, and commerce. Third, Spain did not protect the people against
foreign invaders and pirates. With no arms to defend themselves, the natives were killed, their houses
burned, and their lands destroyed. As a result of this, the Filipinos were forced to become nomads, lost
interest in cultivating their lands or in rebuilding the industries that were shut down, and simply
became submissive to the mercy of God. Fourth, there was a crooked system of education, if it was to
be considered an education. What was being taught

The diuretic activity of Silybum Mariamum L. was higher than that of furosemide or Cistus
landaniferus L. In addition, both plants increased urinary excretion of sodium, potassium and
creatinine and the effect of Silybum marianum L. was higher than that of furosemide or Cistus
landaniferus L.. Interestingly, both plants did not cause changes in the plasma sodium or potassium
while furosemide caused hypokalemia. These findings are important since both plants might have a
potential to be used as a future diuretics without hypokalemia which is a common finding with use of
current diuretics such loop diuretics or hydrochlorothiazide. Because there was no effect of the plants`
extract on plasma electrolytes and plasma osmolarity, it might be suggested that the active principle(s)
in both plants may has/have a potassium sparing effect. Furthermore, both plants increased creatinine
clearance and studying their effect in kidney failure might explore their potential to help increasing
creatinine clearance or ameliorating acute/chronic kidney

This letter is in regards to the current situation of the gate, and the problems it is causing one of my tenants. I would really appreciate help with this. I must bring to your attention that due to the ground having settled, the gate doors are uneven and now drag when moved. Additionally, it takes a lot of force to open them. This has made it difficult for my tenant to open and close it daily. Along with this, the gate has begun to rust and has damaged the surrounding white paint. I have attached pictures for your reviewal. Upon inspection there is no cement placed or indication to create a level ground, which is common with all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Domestication of the Last Frontier Essay The Domestication of the Last Frontier In 1865 the frontier line generally followed the western limits of the states bordering the Mississippi River, bulging outward to include the eastern sections of Kansas and Nebraska. Beyond this thin edge of pioneer farms, lay the prairie and sagebrush lands that stretched to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Then, for nearly 1,600 kilometers, loomed the huge bulk of mountain ranges, many rich in silver, gold and other metals. On the far side, plains and deserts were part of this region; here laid the Last Frontier the Great Plains . For a long time, the region had been called the Great American Dessert, a barrier to cross on the way to the Pacific, unfit for human habitation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 1890 the frontier had disappeared. Settlement was spurred by the Homestead Act of 1862, which granted free farms of 64 hectares to citizens who would occupy and improve the land. Under the homestead Act of 1862 a farmer could either realize the old dream of free land and simply by staking out a claim and living on it for years, or by buying the land at $1.25 an acre after six months. (Tindall 878) Unfortunately for the would be farmers, the land itself was suited more for cattle ranching than farming, and by 1880 nearly 22,400,000 hectares of free land was in the hands of cattlemen or the railroads. In 1862 Congress also voted a charter to the Union Pacific Railroad, which pushed westward from Council Bluffs, Iowa, using mostly the labor of ex soldiers and Irish immigrants. At the same time, the Central Pacific Railroad began to build eastward from Sacramento, California, relying heavily on Chinese immigrant labor. The whole country was stirred as the two lines steadily approached each other, finally meeting on May 10, 1869, at Promontory Point in Utah. The months of laborious travel hitherto separating the two oceans was now cut to about six days. The continental rail network grew steadily, and by 1884, four great lines linked the central Mississippi Valley area with the Pacific. The first great rush of population to the Far West was drawn to the mountainous regions, where gold was found in California in 1848, in Colorado ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Diversity in the Galapagos Islands If not for Charles Darwin, shown on the right, the world might not see the Galapagos Islands how we do today. The islands hold exotic and extraordinary plants and animals. Of these animals, some are going extinct or have already gone extinct. There are many varieties of natural and introduced plant life. Charles Darwin was born February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. He sailed on the HMS Beagle in 1831. He knew he was going to the Galapagos, but he didn t know that he would discover the theory of evolution. The plants on the Galapagos Island are very tropical and numerous in varietes. According to the Galapagos Conservancy there are about six hundred and forty native species of of plants on the Galapagos Islands. There are about eight hundred and twenty five introducer species. One hundred of the introduced species have become established in the wild. There are three major zones that the plants live in ; the coastal zone, the arid zone, and the highlands zone. In the coastal zone mangrove trees are very common and have an important role for bird breeding sites. The arid zone is very dry and has adapted to the drought conditions. Some of these plants that have adapted to the drought conditions are the succulent cacti and the leafless shrub, which only grows leaves in the rainy season. The humid zones are lush and green. There are mosses and epiphytes growing on trees for support. Some animals like the Galapagos penguin, shown on the right have adapted to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Idiotism In The Book Thief Rudy Steiner: A Dual Threat In one of the cruelest twists in Markus Zusak s extraordinary and emotional book, The Book Thief, the fictional city of Molching, Germany is bombed. As bombs rain down onto Himmel Street, Zusak effectively kills off many important characters to dramatically conclude his novel. One of those characters is illustrated as a lemon haired (267) teenager by the name of Rudy Steiner. Rudy is arguably the most fascinating and intriguing person in The Book Thief largely due to the complexity of his actions. He is a perfect example of one of the novel s themes: the dual nature of humans. Rudy is an intelligent boy who purposefully makes the most idiotic decisions, a goal setter who deliberately fails at the brink of success, and a thief possessing one of the biggest hearts a young boy could possess. Although Rudy is a very bright individual, he is as capable of making foolish mistakes as any other person, displaying a dual nature. Take for example his fate tempting adventure in Mamer s Grocery Store, during the chapter Three Acts of Stupidity by Rudy Steiner, where he masterfully weaves through a line of shoppers attempting to buy potatoes, almost escaping notice. As he reaches the front, he seizes the largest potato of all which is unfortunately being eyed by many other hungry Germans. Almost immediately, Rudy is surrounded by the other customers and restrained by the grocer, Thomas Mamer, who threatens to call the police. The situation is looking bleak for Rudy until he is struck by a stroke of genius. Spying in the crowd Herr Link, one of his schoolteachers, Rudy urges him to convince the shopkeeper how poor he is. Herr Link recognizes Rudy s dire situation and aids him in escaping the grocery store without any serious repercussions (293 299). Rudy s narrow escape exemplifies a major part of his dual nature. His belief that he can steal the most magnificent potato from a grocer and a crowd of hungry Germans is insane. However, his quick thinking shows just how clever he can be. Although his aforementioned theft attempt was unwise, Rudy s other act of stupidity was blatantly intentional. While attending Hitler Youth Meetings, he comes to dislike the leader of his area Hitler Youth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Drumming Research Paper Is drumming really difficult to me? In my opinion, drumming can be difficult at some times, and understanding the concept of drumming wasn t easy at the start. When I first started trying to play the drums, I didn t understand how to do it. I had no idea that drumming even had different styles and beats. It took me quite awhile to fully comprehend how complex it really is. Drumming is not easy at first, can be very complex, and requires a lot of practice. Learning to play the drums was not easy when I first started figuring out how to play a beat. First of all, I didn t know which pieces I was supposed to play. After observing another person play the drums, I saw that I needed to play the snare (like in a marching band), hi hat (two cymbals put together), and bass drum (the big drum on the bottom), and this combination became my first beat. Trying to play the bass drum with the hi hat and snare confused me. I was fine playing the snare and hi hat, but I always messed up when I tried adding the bass drum. I ended up having CJ play the bass drum while I played the hi hat and snare, which lasted for over two months until I could play it myself. I was proud to finally be able to play a beat, however I never knew about the many different different beats that you could play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many philosophers have used the term tabula rasa to describe how not only children learn from experiences and are initially born as a blank slate but also as adults continue to learn from what they encounter in life. To protect and serve is a basic responsibility of every police department, specifically in Canada. In Canada, citizens have a lot of faith in the police, as they look forward to police for any kind of safety concerns they may have, yet people are also very quick to judge the police. The police play an important role in minimizing threats and maximizing safety of their citizens. The role of the police in our society is shaped by social, economic and political factors. Sir Robert Peel In 1829, Peel succeeded in having the London Metropolitan Act passed by the parliament and this led to a creation of a 3,200 member professional police forces which replaced various law enforcement systems existing in London at the time (Goff 2017, pg.152). One of their key responsibilities was to serve the public by dealing with their situations by preventing and detecting any crime. This approach of policing was based on the policing by public consent, which meant that the police act for their citizens, and not over them. The public accepted this idea of modern policing, which was the right of the police to maintain law and order. This approach of policing became so well known, that it spread to countries like Canada, the United States, and Australia. • 19. What Best Buy s Minneapolis Headquarters During Their... Key Issues: This week s case analysis captures the Best Buy s Minneapolis headquarters during their transition towards the Results Only Work Environment program (ROWE). This anecdote spans from a period of over 6 years (2003 2009), and in relation to our reading this week, exemplifies a company in the midst of a culture change. During the initial phase, the ROWE program was isolated from retail stores and exclusively offered to only the 4,000 headquarter employees (75% enrolled at the time of the case). The story of ROWE within the Best Buy organization has spawned favorable statistics within the company (e.g., productivity increases of 35 percent within 9 months, voluntary turnover drops of 52 90 percent, and overall increase in employee morale for departments within the program). Despite the warranted success of the program, the Best Buy enterprise continues to face some resistance and difficulties with extending the program beyond headquarters. Nevertheless, the key issues to be discussed are as follows: In regards to chapter 16, the process of organizational socialization starts at the selection process. Best Buy has stymied organizational culture shift by allowing the transition to be at the discretion of the department managers. Managers have displayed a dominant resistant to change. Therefore, how does leadership mold attitudes of managers to accommodate/facilitate a holistic cultural change? The feasibility of transferring the ROWE program to the retail ... • 23. Education Is The Most Important Aspect Of Life Philosophers say that life is one unending lesson, that the absorption of knowledge never ends. This motto is superbly represented in all of the pieces that Ms. Frankenberg s Composition class has read, watched, or listened to. Whether this education has been obvious or not, through a classroom or another medium, it is usually delivered in lessons that are meant to last a lifetime. By dissecting all of the aspects that can be taken from these educational situations, the credit goes to those who taught them, and it is to those individuals whom we should give credit for the lesson. These lessons are great additions to their legacy resume , or the unofficial track of a person s accomplishments throughout their lifetime. It is in this way that legacy can be discovered, even if legacy means something different to each individual. Education is the most important aspect of life; parents teach their children, teachers educate their students, employers train their employees, and even the President of the United States is educated on important details by his advisors. Education does not just mean a school and a professor, it means any learning at anytime and anywhere. This reason is exactly why education is one of the most crucial parts of any legacy. Education is universal, without it no one would even know what a legacy is, much less retain the intelligence to create a legacy of their own. However, there are a handful of individuals that believe that Chillingworth s intellectual superiority and manipulative plans conveniently label him as a jerk. After all, Dimmesdale was the man that slept with his wife during his absence. And the fact that Dimmesdale made Hester promise to conceal his identity only further provoked Chillingworth. He lived by the vow: Dimmesdale shall be mine (68). It was this newfound obsession on revenge that made his dark complexion grow duskier and his figure more misshapen (101). Furthermore, when Hester asks him why he does not torture her, he responds, I have left thee to the scarlet letter (156). Chillingworth acknowledges the pain the scarlet letter inflicts to Hester. Dimmesdale, however, constantly believes that his own suffering is greater than the pain associated with the letter, making him both stubborn and heartless. Although Chillingworth aches for the misery of others, Dimmesdale s self obsession, selfishness, and self pity causes more damage to others than all of the manipulative plans of Chillingworth combined.
