This document lists contraindications for facials, including acne, which is a chronic skin condition characterized by blackheads, pimples, cysts and abscesses that can sometimes cause scarring. Eczema, another contraindication, is an itchy skin disorder usually located on the face and extremities. Malignant melanoma, a rare but potentially deadly skin cancer, starts as a mole that turns cancerous and should also be avoided with facials. Other contraindications mentioned are milia, which are benign cysts under the skin, especially in babies, pustules which are small raised spots resembling blisters, and styes, which are eyelash follicle infections.
