other land. There are eight islands of different sizes, and while they differ from each other in

About twenty years ago I went on a 10-day camping trip in the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan with my 10-year old son and husband. The black flies were ferocious. It rained 7 days
of the 10. On the night before we went home the zipper broke on our large cabin tent and we
broke camp in the mud and rain.
None of this made the trip bad for me, except the constant complaining from my husband
from day one. The final straw was when he threw a fit while we were taking down the tent,
rolled it up and threw it into the trash.
I salvaged the tent and had the zipper repaired and have had many pleasant camping trips
since with it… through rain, blackflies, whatever. And the husband? Well, unfortunately he was
not salvageable and we have been divorced for 18 years!

There are some major types of museums. The most common one is the history

documents, and other materials. The next type of museums is the art museums. They reflect
artistic accomplishment, both historic and contemporary. Their collection includes paintings,
sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, ceramics and glass, metal work, and furniture.
The next two museums are the natural history museums and the science museums. The
first type of museums usually focuses on nature and culture. Dinosaurs, gems and minerals,
native and ancient cultures are always popular exhibits at natural history museums. Meanwhile,
the science museums are dedicated to improve public understanding of science and scientific

WHAT IS THUNDER?
Thunder sounds like an explosion. Lightning causes thunder. The sound comes from air
that suddenly gets very hot.
A bolt of lightning can make the air around it as hot as 18,000° Fahrenheit (10,000°
Celsius). That’s hotter than the surface of the Sun! The hot air rushes away from the
lightning bolt. The air rushing away makes the loud sound of thunder.
You often hear the thunder after you see a bolt of lightning. This is because sound travels
slower than light. The farther away the lightning is, the longer it takes for you to hear the
thunder. You can tell how far away the lightning is. You can count the seconds between
the lightning and the sound of the thunder it makes. Sound travels about 1 mile (about 1.6
