Food Bank Video Analysis
Four examples of food banks issues and solutions to overcome from them. This is true that food
banks are not looking into the problems that make things worse. Food banks usage increased the
level of food safety issues as there are number of issues registered as follows, Currie (2014):
1.One of the things I feel is an issue in the video is that the food bank is not receiving enough from
the community and the government. The bank has helped families for many years such as the
depression and recession. Although, they are not able to help every family they help feed as many
as they can. Food is very limited and the help to feed these families are very limited. In Michigan,
poverty is increasing day by day. The food bank does receive many donations

Essay on The Artwork of Henry Matisse
Matisse once said, A good art work should be like an arm chair in which you could relax at the
end of the day . This statement of Matisse s indicates that artist s artwork should be an art of
balance, of purity and tranquillity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter. An art which
is created for everyone in society and that is like a pacifying influence, something like a good arm
chair in which you could rest from physical fatigue. Moreover, his paintings are about imagination,
dreams and about the nature itself. Matisse s Fauvist paintings Large Red interior and Open
Window Collioure are great examples of Matisse s attitude and response to the world around him.
The artworks reflect the theories of Fauvists, revealing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The division of the canvas into patches of pure unmixed, warm and strident colour positioned in
powerful contrasts with each other, translating the emotions of Matisse. This creates a balance
in the artwork by applying equilibrium of colours on both of the sides of the canvas.
Primitively, this was the way of Fauvists expressing their emotions, through the use of vibrant
colours and compositions. In this way we can see that Matisse artwork is an art of balance
which avoids the depressing subject matter. Henri Matisse further explores the Fauvists ideas in
his art work, through the use of the lines and shapes. The lines and shapes play a significant role
in the work and the lines work together to establish balance. The balance of lines and shapes is
achieved through the geometric and organic shapes. The painting Open window, Collioure is
typically simplified into shapes and forms whose details are conveyed by untouched brush strokes
of roughly the same size. This creates an overall harmony that is unexpected in a composition of
such incompatible and dramatic complementary colours. Furthermore, the key to his success in
using such intense colours was the realization that he had to simplify his drawing. Matisse was
aware that if he intensified the colours for the expressive effect, it would be necessary to reduce
the amount of detail used in drawing shapes and lines of the objects. Moreover, by applying the

Effects Of Television Has On Children
The Effects of Television Has on Children Throughout the years technology has increased greatly
which has caused great leaps for society as a whole. For example, television has become more
assessable to many families. The usage of television has changed from being a way for a family to
relax after a long day. Now many parents or care give givers use televisionas a tool to keep children
occupied for long periods of time. The effects of children viewing television for long periods of
time has increased recently. Children can have issues regarding socialization, loss of interest and
commitment to their school work, vioence, awful eating habits, and attitudes towards themselves
and others. How much television is too much? Television is becoming a major addiction among
school aged children which is causing life time concerns. Socialization has always been a major
part of a childs life. Without it, children tend to grow up without learning how to work with
others in particular situations. By starting to socialize from a young age children can be positively
influenced for future opportunities to grow in school, relationships, and future careers. A child
psychologist Kimberley O Brien affiliated with Quirky Kid Clinic said more and more parents are
enrolling their children in social skill classes because of use of electronics has taken over their
households. Dr. O Brien stated that social skills and communication programs teach children how
to join groups, to take turns, and

Modern Film Versions Of Cinderella
Cinderella is a fairy tale that has many different interpretations. This tale has also been made into
many films, advertisements, amongst other mediums. Although films and advertisements are very
different certain aspects can be brought together through the Brothers Grimm version as well as
from a gender and sociological standpoint. One of the more modern film versions of Cinderellais
Ever After starring Drew Barrymore. The film actually includes the brothers Grimm, whom have
their own version of Cinderella. The film follows what is supposedly the true story of Cinderella,
named Danielle. Her father marries and evil woman, she has two stepsisters only one of whom is

Pacific Ocean West Of Peru
Pacific Ocean west of Peru hit 5 degrees above average, outpacing the abnormally warm
temperatures seen at this time of year in 1997, which developed into the strongest El NiГ±o on
record (latimes.com). California and a majority of South America have gotten unusual rainfall since
January because of this El Nino effect. Mudslides, heavy rainfall, one storm after another like a
conveyor belt, is how they described the oncoming weatherfor the Western region. This rise in sea
temperature did not just cause heavy rainfall in the western states and the South America
countries but caused droughts in places like Australia and Indonesia. The frequency of category
4 and 5 hurricanes have been more common since the early 80 s. El NiГ±o has already caused
major effects across the world, fueling an active and unusually powerful hurricane season in the
eastern Pacific Ocean, including Hurricane Patricia, which hit Mexico (latimes.com). In addition
to the elevated rainfall, it pushed hurricane season forward in Mexico and surroundings states.
The world has experienced nine years since the last massive hurricane. This is a record soon to be
broken because of the global warming effects. The Artic is becoming less artic and hot climates
are only getting hotter. Ice takes up approximately 10% of Earth s surface. Arctic sea ice is at its
lowest every year in September. Now, artic ice is declining at a rate of 13.4% every decade since

Why Do People Have Not Involvement With Wildlife
I believe that humans should have no involvement with wildlife. People affect the wildlife in bad
ways. Humans need to keep a closer eye on the animals if they decide to put them in a zoo. We
need to make sure that the animals that are there aren t getting bored or going crazy. People have
died because of this. Humans also shouldn t hunt animals for things that they have, such as an
elephant s tusks. Here are some reasons why we should have no involvement with wildlife.
We need to keep a closer eye on zooanimals. We take animals out of their natural habitat and put
them in smaller enclosements. Because they are used to being in big, open fields, they may get a
little bored or resort back to their natural instincts. Animals such as tigers

Profit and Loss Statement Paper
Before beginning, it should be noted that although this project is to be for a Profit and Loss (P L)
Statement, only an Income Statement is available at the Kudler Fine Foods website (Apollo Group,
2011). However, Income Statements and P L Statements are, for all intents and purposes, the same
thing.
With that said, it cannot be determined conclusively by reading the Income Statement for Kudler
Fine Foods if the report is monthly, quarterly or yearly or if the reports are constructed on a
different fiscal schedule. The date at the top, however, reads For the Year Ended December 31,
2003 . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now it is important to account for any other, miscellaneous income, such sales of assets and interest
on money in savings.
For Kudler Fine Foods, this amount is $7,845 (Apollo Group, 2011) and will be added to the
income of the company to reach a final, Net Income of $676,795.00(Apollo Group, 2011).
Conclusion
Kudler Fine Foods, though fictitious, is doing very well for itself even when compared to a
large supermarket chain like Walmart. When dividing the Net Income of Kudler Fine Foods,
$676,795.00, by the company s Net Sales $10,796,200.00, we get a before tax profit margin of
6.268%. This means that Kudler Fine Foods has almost double the pre tax profit margin than
Walmart s post tax profit margin of 3.515% (Ycharts, 2012). This means that unless the yearly
taxes due for Kudler Fine Foods is about 50%, they will likely have higher profit margins than
Walmart. That is pretty good for a fictitious company...

My Favourite Friend
It was a pleasant day,I can plainly recall that ,not long ago,we were in class 8th then. The sun was
at the highest point, shining gay,and we three,Arpita Varshneya,Pragati and I,were there in the
sun devising a plan to take revenge on our so called teaser friend, Rishika, the award winning
prankster and our friend from the next door, class 8 B. Friendship with this girl was a kind of
compromise for we three, for she lived in our colony and had known us since
childhood.Although, she seemed nice by her talks,as any new person might be mistaken for her
being a nice girl, her other side was known only to her friends. As I mentioned earlier, she was
literally an award winning prankster, the dupes, the unfortunates who had been fair games of
this trickster, must surely have cussed her of her goofy antics. We have been friends since first
grade, but her this side was exposed to me first only when one day she tried on her favourite
magician s,Julius Dein s,trick on me and under the trick s name, ate my whole pizza. Since
then, arpita, pragati and I have always been the victims of her tricks. It was just a day before that
when she, at pragati s birthday party,threw the whole big cake on her face in over excitement;
wretched, we had to survive without the cake on birthday!Back before that, when we were
leaving for home after our coaching class, she perforated the tyre of my bicycle and I had to drag
my bicycle all the way home. And not to forget about the April fools day, such a fearful day

Analysis Of The Documentary The Film
A film director in Louisiana wants to publish a documentary that criticizes a candidate s lack of
integrity. (writing prompt) The candidate responded to the documentary by stating that the material
published would be scandalous and defamatory. The candidate decided to approach a Louisiana
judge in the hopes of obtaining a restraining order against the publishing and completion of the
documentary. The judge reviewed the plans for the documentary and the film that had been
recorded and determined its content was offensive and scandalous, although true and not
defamatory. (writing prompt) The judge decided to file the restraining order, which prevents the
sale, viewing, or distribution of the documentary. (writing prompt) The dispute over this case is
whether or not the director s First Amendment rights to release and complete the documentary have
been infringed upon. Upon the basis that prior restraint is presumptively invalid by the government;
the restraining order against the film director is unfounded and infringes upon the director s rights
protected under the First Amendment. The most applicable law to apply in this situation is equity
law. Unlike other laws, judges, not legislatures make equity laws in order to provide fairness to
citizens. Additionally, equity law is based on the presumption that fairness is not always achieved
through the rigid applications of strict rules. (Trager, Russomanno, Ross, Reynolds, 2014, p. 26)

The Impact Of Technology On The Past Years

Abstract
The technology in nineteenth century is referred to the practical arts used to create physical
products everything from wagon to steam engine. But in twentieth century the word was expanded
to include everything involved in satisfying human material wants. In this we can see the concepts
and significance of the technology, how the technology emerged, what is the internal process of
technology, and classification of technology. For this term project I would like to talk about the file
sharing technology. There are many advantages of the file sharing technology, when compare to the

Out of many technologies I would like to choose File Sharing Technology which is a product of
engineering science to study the natural world. File sharing has been an element of centralized
server and multi client PC frameworks for a long time. With the appearance of the Internet, a
document exchange framework called the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) has turn out to be
broadly utilized. FTP can be utilized to get to (peruse and potentially keep in touch with) records
shared among a specific arrangement of clients with a watchword to get entrance to documents
shared from a FTP server site. Numerous FTP destinations offer open record sharing or possibly
the capacity to view or duplicate documents by downloading them, utilizing an open watchword
(which happens to be mysterious ). Most Web webpage designers use FTP to transfer new or
changed Web documents to a Web server, and for sure the World Wide Web itself can be
considered as extensive scale record partaking in which asked for pages or records are continually
being downloaded or replicated down to the Web client.
However, file sharing implies a system in which client keep in touch with and in additional read
files or in which clients are dispensed some measures of space for individual records on a typical
server, offering access to different client as they see fit. The recent sort of record sharing is basic in
schools and colleges. File sharing can be

Similarities Between Freak The Mighty And Freak The Mighty
Freak the Mighty and Killers of the Dream are two very different novels one being fiction and the
latter being nonfiction but they share a common ground by depicting the struggles of certain
marginalized groups. Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick tells the story of Max, a self
proclaimed butthead , and Kevin, a boy with Morquio Syndrome. On the other hand, Killers of the
Dream by Lillian Smith focuses on why and how the white South treated black peopleduring the
late 1800s and early 1900s. While reading these two novels, the reader gets a sense of how these
specific marginalized groups responded to the prejudice that alienates them from society. Both
novels show examples of the disenfranchised creating their own supportive... Show more content on

One example is the lady insurrectionists of the South, specifically the white women, who spoke out
against sexism and some discrimination of black people. The chapter titled The Women states,
They [the women] said calmly that they were not afraid of being raped... they did not need the
chivalry of a lynching to protect them and did not want it. Not only that, they continued, but they
would personally do everything in their power to keep any Negro [sic] from being lynched... (145).
Furthermore, these lady insurrectionists continued to progress, such as going against southern
tradition, creating an Association of Southern Women for the prevention of Lynching (146), and
breaking bread with fellow men of other color (147). Both the white women and the women of
color, despite their major differences and resentment, decided that in order to move forward in
social justice, they would first have to eat meals together and come together in order to work
together. Unfortunately, there are two sides to every coin. The poor whites of the South may have
built a community among themselves, but unlike the communities built in Freak the Mighty and
the lady insurrectionists and black women, they did not reach out to help other prejudiced groups.
The South s poor whites were not as disadvantaged as the previously mentioned groups, for they
were fed their privileges by the rich white Southern man. Rather

Economic Effects Of The Great Recession
The United States suffered its worst recession in the postwar period between the years
December 2007 and June 2009. Every sector of the United States economy was severely
affected. Many people became unemployed. Though macroeconomists had predicted a stable
economy, the Great Recession happened. Policy makers such as Congress became responsible
for the economy s recovery. The Great Recession had lots of effects. Recession involves a fall in
Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is the total value of both goods and services produced
within a country. When a country s GDP falls, there is lower income for people living in the
country. This results in high costs of living and increase in poverty. Many people lost their jobs.

The Federal Reserve s main purpose is to ensure price stability. It also helps the economy maintain
its maximum rate of employment. When the economy falls, the rate of unemployment increases. To
avoid this, the Federal Reserve lowers its interest rates hence encouraging investment and
employment. Consumers can spend more hence lowering the rate of unemployment. Spending
programs such as Unemployment Insurance, Medicaid, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program were important during the recession. These government programs offer highly effective
reactions to curb the recession. The programs offer income to certain groups of people. Fiscal
policy, which involves a reduction in taxes and increasing government spending, help stimulate the
economy. Tax cuts which focus on lower income people prove helpful. This is because the lower
income people are more likely to spend whatever they get compared to those with high income.
This helps boost the economy. Congress also plays a part in the recovery of the economy, even
though it takes time. The spending programs offer a more automatic response. Congress authorizes
policies which help boost the economy. Congress may increase funding to the

Essay On Invasive Species In Florida
There are many invasive species that populate Florida. An invasive species is defined as a plant,
animal, or fungus that has come to occupy a location aside from its native grounds. Often times,
because Florida is not their homeland, these animals play a negative part in the ecosystem.
Because of this, the citizens affected are often forced to seek means of removing these animals to
eliminate their negative effects. The Burmese Python, the Green Iguana, and the Wild Boar are just
a few examples of some of the invasive speciesthat can be found in Florida.

The Man Nobody Knows 7/17/01 The author of this book Bruce Barton was a partner in a
successful advertising firm during the 1920 s. This was a time when the industry of advertising
was under going some major changes. These changes had a lot to do with a number of factors the
first of which being the post war prosperity this meant people had more money than they ever had
before. Another one of these factors had to do with the high number of teens who were now

Still another thing I noticed was Barton s use of a parable. Barton could have just came right
out and said, В‘I think Jesus had a lot of qualities a business man should have, and in this book I
plan to point these qualities out, but instead he tell us the story of how he came to write the
book. The story manages to catch the reader s attention, and allows us to relate to his
experiences in a way that simply telling us his intentions would not have done. This brings me
to my next point in giving us something to relate to Barton has not only caught our attention but
also demonstraight his sincerity by relating to us on a personal level. All of these characteristics
would be Characteristics of a good ad in Barton s eyes. In the rest of this book Barton looks at
Jesus the business man and not Jesus the sun of god. He did this by quoting parables from the
Bible and using them as examples of Jesus good business methods. He takes this comparison as
far as to call the apostles adman selling faith. In conclusion Bruce Barton s book The Man Nobody

Australian Business Media Reported That The Board Of...
I.Introduction In the August 2015, most of the Australian business media reported that the
board of Federation Centre ( FDC ) sacked Steven Sewell as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
and then replaced him with Angus McNaughton as a new CEO. This removal subsequently
surprised investors and markets because it occurred just two months after the completion of the
merger between FDC and Novion Property Group ( Novion ). Moreover, there is no further
explanation from the board of FDC about the reason of removal Steven Sewell. Consequently,
the shares of the FDC declined 6% since the replacement. The removal of a director by the board
in the FDC case creates legal and ethical issues, which ultimately led to the onset of commercial
issues. Despite the legal, ethical and commercial issues, this case is strongly indicated that there
are some problems in the mechanism of removal directors stipulated in the Corporations Act
2001 (Cth) ( Corporations Act ) S 203D and S 203E. This indication is underpinned by some
cases in the Australian court in which directors are removed also by the board. Therefore, this
paper will analyse the legal, ethical and commercial issues regarding with the removal of FDC s
director, discuss the problem in the procedure of removal directors stipulated in the legislation, and
compare other regulations in the common law and civil law countries. Finally, drafts of new
mechanism of dismissal directors will be provided in this research to reform Section 203D

Authoritative Government
People do not much like being told what to do; however, people elect rulers to do just that and are
angered when things do not go their way. People do not much like making hard decisions, but do
not like to agree with people who make them instead. The ultimate debate when taking a position of
power then becomes whether to let the people have a voice in making a governmentor to build one
for them to follow. The best way to govern is to make a government for your public to follow, an
authoritative government. Authoritative governments benefit people more by creating equality
among for their populations, having a faster law making processes, and establishing a better
instilment of discipline and moral consciousness.

mobile technology, either alone or in combination with other information and communication
technology (ICT), to enable learning anytime and anywhere. Learning can expand in different ways
people can use mobile devices to access educational article, connect with friends and others, both
inside and outside classrooms. Mobile learning also encompasses efforts to support broad
educational goals such as the effective administration of higher education systems and improved
communication between schools and families. M Learning is convenient in that it is accessible
from virtually anywhere. Sharing is almost instantaneous among everyone using the same content,
which leads to the reception of instant feedback and tips. This highly active process has proven to
increase examination scores from the fiftieth to the seventieth percentile, and cut the dropout rate
in technical fields by 22% (Saylor, Michael 2012).[1] M learning also brings strong portability by
replacing books and notes with small devices, filled with tailored learning

Paying NCAA Athletes Essay
Outline
Purpose: The purpose of this speech is to inform my audience about the issue of potentially paying
college athletes so that they may make an informed decision themselves.
Thesis: As the popularity, and revenue continues to grow in college sports, the debate will be taken
to new heights about whether or not college athletes are being exploited, and if they should be
compensated monetarily.
I. (C)The National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) defines amateurism as, The conviction
that people should participate in sports as a hobby (for the fun of it) rather than for money. The
NCAA mandates that all college athletes maintain this level of amateurism while in college,
however, college sports have never been more of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b. Throw in all of the gear associated with being a Division I college athlete and you re looking at
a hefty amount of cash being invested in each athlete.
C. Obviously some colleges have higher budgets and higher amounts of athletes than others, so
how do you make sure you pay each athlete equally while still staying above the budget? You can t.
1. Trying to pay a football team alone could plunge a university underneath their budget with an
average of nearly 100 players per team.
2. On top of that, there are 28 more sports with athletes waiting to have their pockets filled with
cash.
3. And finally, it takes away funding for other important academic areas of the college.
Transition: The budget just simply isn t there for a university of any size to reasonably pay each
and every athlete so finally I will explain some different ways an NCAA athlete could possibly
make some money.
IV. There are plenty of ways an athlete could make money, but it would require some self
marketing and a little help from the NCAA.
A. A player could seek out additional sponsorships and advertising deals like a professional athlete.
1.The athlete isn t technically making money off their playing ability they re making the money
from the name on the back of their jersey.
B. Opposers of this idea would say that equality plays a factor here as well.
2. Not every athlete is as

The Pros and Cons of Participant Observation or Surveys as...
Introduction
In our daily activities as humans, we consciously and unconsciously observe what people do
around us, how they do it, and sometimes ask why they do what they do. In so doing we gain a
better understanding of their ways of life. Anthropologist and sociologist too mention but a few,
professions employ the daily observations we engage in as humans in a methodology called
participant observation. Dewalt and Dewalt (2002:1) define participant observation as a method in
which a researcher takes part in the daily activities, events, rituals and interactions, of a group of
people as one of the means of learning the explicit and tacit aspects of their life routine and culture.
Participant observation can be carried out in roles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The physical presence of the researcher and his use of direct observation have tremendous positive
effects on the quality of data generated and further enhances it. This is so because it has the
capacity to do the following.
Firstly, it has the capacity to reduce reactivity which is capable of distorting data. The likelihood
that the presence of the observer may allow for alterations in the behaviour of the observed, by
the observed towards the observer exist in participant observation and are capable of reducing
the validity of data if such actions are not take into cognisance suggests Schwartz and Schwartz
(1955).familiarity between the observed and the observer over time can however change this
.Bernard (2006) affirms that rather than encourage the occurrence of such, the presence of the
researcher instead discourages reactivity on the basis that the researcher s presence over time
builds trust with the observed and in turn lowers the risk of reactivity because the observed are
more familiar and comfortable around the researcher. Hence they act in their natural state this
therefore, help to generate more valid data. Secondly, Dewaltz and Dewaltz (2002) refer to
participant observation as a means of learning tacit and explicit aspects of people s life routines and

pod people begin converting the entire town of Santa Mira. This is successfully done because

to get the towns people turned. However, when the pod people find out that Miles and Becky are

Euthanasi Assisted Suicide And Euthanasia Essay
Physician Assisted Suicide
Framing the Issue
Many legal, ethical and personal issues and dilemmas have been identified in relation to physician
assisted suicide and euthanasia. Issues such as whether physician assisted suicide or euthanasia is
ethically acceptable, or what criterion is legally and socially necessary to determine whether a
person can receive assisted suicide measures to end ones life. A variety of literature reviews have
been created to address this topic and generate knowledge and information for health care
professionals. With this in mind, there are many phrases associated and utilized synonymously with
the term physician assisted suicide that need to be addressed such as physician assisted death,
euthanasia, and aid in dying, however each has been defined separately throughout the literature.
Westefeld et al., (2013) and Landry, Foreman and Kekewich (2015) define physician assisted death
as voluntary termination of life through the administration, from the person requesting termination,
of a lethal dose to end ones life. The Canadian Medical Association (2014) refers to euthanasia as
the practice of knowingly and intentionally performing an act with or without consent, that is
explicitly intended to end another person life (p. 2) by a physician. Lastly, aid is dying is the
request of a prescription for medication; provided by a physician, that patients can self administer
to end ones life peacefully (American Nurses Association [ANA], 2013). For

Christianity Of Religion Essay
Religion: the best thing to ever happen to humanity or the one thing that is holding us back? While
there are many arguments and testimonies that support either side, there is a clear answer.
Religion, specifically judeo christianity, in the western world has an array of disastrous issues
ranging from bias teachings to abuse and hate crimes. There are countless examples of ways in
which religionhas, and is continuing to regress society s views and morals. Ignorance and disdain
from scientific fact, fear to act upon natural human impulse, innumerable human rights violations
and of course wars on religion, are topics rarely discussed due to the concern of offending those
who have a relationship with the creator. I will not be discussing the... Show more content on

Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of our time said Before we understood science, it was
natural to believe that God created the universe, but now science offers a more convincing
explanation. He is absolutely correct. It is human nature to seek explanations for life s big
questions. Therefore, back when there was no understanding of much at all, the concept of God
provided all the answers. Now, however, with research and evidence to back up discoveries, it is
irresponsible to completely reject them. In history, an example of this is Galileo s theory of
Heliocentrism. Because society was ruled by a theocracy at the time, it was said that the earth was
the center of the universe and the sun revolved around it. Galileo s theory that the earth revolves
around the sun and the sun was the center of the universe, although not entirely correct, was an
important breakthrough for science. Galileo was convicted for having opinions that challenge
scripture and was sentenced to house arrest until he died. Although nothing this extreme occurs in
the western world today, not much has changed in terms of belief. Today, most churches have
realized how ineffectual it is to fight science, and have claimed that there are in fact no
contradictions between science and religion. This is a case of telling rather than showing. If
churches still continue to believe in events such as God creating the universe in six

The Myth Of Poverty In Adam Smith s Shop-Happy
The real tragedy of the poor is the poverty of their aspirations, said Adam Smith. The quote above
sheds light upon the primary driving force behind the conspicuous poverty that currently plagues
American society and its citizens alike. Whether it be the further exacerbation of an indigent
individual s lifestyle or augmented power rendered to the commonplace bon vivant, the vicious
circle of povertyseemingly appears to be an indelible taint on America s rather diverse mosaic of
individuals. From the gruesome working conditions endured by impoverished Americans to the
immense profits garnered by affluent storeowners, the nation remains fixated in an economics
oriented rudimentary state: a reality directly intertwined to a dearth of bona... Show more content on

Evidence from the article Shop Happy that further bolsters this claim is shown when the author
states, Wanting to acquire the things that we see and like is as natural as breathing. Babies want to
touch things, taste them, bash them against the wall. We appease them with shining objects,
distract them with new toys (Smith). The quote above sheds light upon how counterfeit values,
namely those interconnected to the fostering of avarice among Americans, exacerbate financial
situations to a noteworthy degree, thus yielded a drastic escalation in the numbers of
underprivileged individuals. Delving deeper into the specifics, the blatantly obvious sense of
egocentrism exercised by affluent coteries of American citizens perpetuates the nation s fixation
in an economically rudimentary state, with poorer individuals striving to remain socially
tantamount with the affluent. In addition to the inevitable vicissitudes of a stereotypical wage
slave lifestyle, the widespread desire to cope with the capricious state of the American economy
furthermore aggrandizes the burden placed upon the impoverished. Yet another driving force
behind the nearly ubiquitous state of poverty that prevails in America today is exemplified
when Schlosser, in her novel In The Strawberry Fields, states, In Watsonville, three to four
families will share a small house, seven or eight people to a room. Migrants routinely pay $100
to $200 a month to sleep in a garage with anywhere from four to ten other people. Despite the
hardships that accompany the job, there is an oversupply of people hoping to pick strawberries.
Another constant worry is finding a place to sleep (Schlosser 433). The quote above epitomizes the
over appreciative attitudes commonly embraced by the working poor, to a point where the factor
transforms into a mere anathema

The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia
The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act
And the No Child Left Behind Act
Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law or mandate,
states and local governments must comply Federal mandates are requirements that the national
government imposes on state and local governments. Following these requirements are often a
condition for the state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various
programs. Many of these mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements
imposed on State and local governments without the Federal government providing funds are called
unfunded mandates (Losco, Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Two
prevalent mandates the state of Virginia must comply with is the Americans with Disabilities Act
and the No Child Left Behind Act. Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system
to determine if a person has a disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and
Virginia has reformed its public education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
was put into place in 1990 to ensure that people could not discriminate against those with
disabilities. At the end of every war, there were newly disabled American veterans that wanted
improved civil rights and proper accommodations for the disabled that needed them. In the 1960 s,
veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War saw

Compare And Contrast The Kite Runner And Antigone
A moral or lesson is a message that is conveyed to be learned from a story or an event. The Kite
Runner follows the story of Amir and his childhood living in Afghanistan with his friend Hassan
and Antigone is a greek mythology play about Antigone the daughter/sister of Oedipus, the play
follows Antigone on a journey of family loyalty. Works of literature often teach the readers a social
or moral lesson, both The Kite Runner and Antigoneteach a very well build lesson that affects the
reader s moral ethics. Both works of literature have similar themes throughout the storyline that
changes the reader s understanding which leads both the novel and the play to have two very
different morals.

In The Kite Runner, the main lesson readers learn is redemption. Amir makes a mistake but in
the end, learns from it. An example of this is when Assif is beating up Amir: [Amir] What was
so funny was that, for the first time since the winter of 1975 I felt at peace. I laughed because I
saw that, in some nook in the corner of my mind, I had been looking forward to this. (Hosseini
289). This quote shows us that while Assif is beating Amir, Amir s guilt is dieing down and he is
at peace. This also shows that Amir would do anything for Hassan and in a way he is redeeming
himself for what he did to Hassan. The moral of The Kite Runner is that no matter the sin, there is
always a chance for redemption. The themes of loyalty, sacrifice and betrayal that are present
throughout this novel leads to the lesson of redemption for Amir. In Antigone there are multiple
lessons that the play teaches us, one of them is that too much pride is going to lead to misfortune
and another one is don t try to change your fate. Both Antigone and Creon faced their misfortune for
having excessive pride. The Kite Runner and Antigone starts off with all the same themes but in the
end both Amir, Hassan, Antigone and Creon have different fate. For both Hassan and Antigone,
their loyalty takes them to their graves. The lesson readers learn from

The Feminist Philosphoy and May Wollstonecraft
Fiercely independent and far from conventional Mary Wollstonecraft called for more equality
between the sexes; she ignited the flame that would turn into the feminist movement we know
today. Wollstonecraft was a key founder of feminist philosophy. A Vindication of the Rights of
Woman (1792) stated her view that women should have a wider access to education, not taught to
depend on their beauty. A committed women s liberationist cannot retire from the job, only die at
it. (Dann, 1985) Mary Wollstonecraftencompassed this perfectly.

With education available to everyone in New Zealand it is hard to imagine a time where most
women were denied education beyond to know just enough arithmetic to do household accounts

education; they are underrepresented in fields such as science and technology (Huhman, 2012),
although this is slowly changing. In New Zealand there have been two female heads of
government (Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark) who are evidence of how far the emancipation of
women has progressed from the time period in which Wollstonecraft was labelled a Hyena in
petticoats by Horace Walpole. Taught from their infancy that beauty is woman s sceptre, the mind
shapes itself to the body, and roaming round its gilt cage, only seeks to adorn its prison

The Journey Of Transformation And Change In Dante s Inferno
In the beginning of Inferno, Dante the poet and Dante the pilgrim are in contradiction with each
other in their judgment of the sinners. In his journey of transformation and change, Dante the
pilgrim changes and grows through his experiences in hell, as he learns what is right and wrong
and manages to reconcile his differences with Dante the poet. We see the convergence of the two
Dantes through Dante the pilgrim s evolution of pity, in which by the end of the penultimate canto,
the pilgrim no longer shows pity to the sinners a sign of him endorsing the poet s judgment of the
sinners. Through the reconciliation of the poet and the pilgrim, Dante explains that we can

His sensitivity is however, attributable to his initial state of ignorance as his own personal
experiences hinder the insight necessary to perceive the reality of the sin. In Canto V, we enter
the Circle of the Lustful and find the carnal sinners who have subjected their nobler selves to the
animal impulses of the flesh. The reactions of both poet and pilgrim to the plight of Francesca
present the same dichotomy of emotion stern in judgment, but faint and swooning in emotional
response. Upon hearing the names of those in the Second Circle, pity seized [him], and [he] was
like a man astray (V, 71 72). In the beginning of his pilgrimage progress, Dante pities Paolo and
Francesca. Paolo and Francesca explain the suffering of the souls in Hell and offer a
sympathetic story of two lovers trapped for eternity because of their forbidden love. Dante the
pilgrim empathizes with their epic love, as he continues to passionately love and search for
Beatrice, whom he has lost on Earth because of her early death and presents a subjective view.
Because he can relate to Paolo and Francesca s prohibited love, he cannot help but remain ignorant
to the sinful nature of this crime. It is his adoration for an epic love that clouds his sense of
reasoning, as Dante does not see souls damned by their own fault, but rather a

Class This Semester Has Been Good
Class this semester has been good. It was a well taught and constructed course. The atmosphere
was always enjoyable unlike a few of my classes. Professor Airek created an open environment
that let me as a student feel as ease communicating and being involved in class. We ve shared
many laughs and I ve grown as a writer and as a student. I ve learned that essays need to be turned
in on time and stapled together. But most of all, I have learned to never give up. One experience
in class that I won t forget was on a Monday morning when we watched a deer frolic through
campus like it was his natural habitat. It just really symbolizes our class and how it is based
around random comedy. I can vouch that simple things like that and cracking jokes in class
makes students more at ease in the classroom. We aren t completely dreading waking up at 7:30
AM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when we know we that class isn t going to be hell.
Even while we are having fun in class, we simultaneously learn things through either short, non
throat slitting lectures and/or interesting exercises. I say interesting because I ve never done things
in any of my English classes in high schoollike I ve done in Composition 1. This is a good thing.
The red barn exercise was one of my favorites. This left it up to the imagination of the writer to
take over and conjure his or her own alternate ending with the prompt in a short amount of time.

Water Is An Important Factor That Affects Sorption
Water is an important factor that affects sorption because when there is excess water or when
water drains through soil from sources at the surface, adsorbed pesticide molecules can become
unattached, or desorbed, and wash away to a new location (Rao, 1999). Just as degradation has a
measure in the half life of a compound, sorption also has a measure in the partition coefficient
(Koc), which is a ratio of pesticide concentration in a soilbound state versus dissolved in soil water
(Rao, 1999). In fact, the solubility of a pesticide and its sorption on soil are inversely related; [in
other words], increased solubility results in less sorption (Rao, 1999). Both sorption and
degradation are effected by soil type and pH, both of which... Show more content on

Volatilization is a means of major pesticide loss and its rate of loss can often exceeds that of
degradation, runoff, or leaching (van der Werf, 1996). For example, in an Oregon study, soil
samples 64km from any agriculture were found to have DDT residues, and in Saskatchewan,
Canada, 20% of 2, 4 D iso octyl ester volatilized in 24 hours (Pimentel, 1995). Once in the
atmosphere, pesticide residues can spread anywhere, even Antarctica (Pimentel, 1995). Large
amounts of pesticides and organic compounds can be transported around the globe in the
atmosphere, for example, in the atmosphere of the Netherlands, the amounts of
BHC, DDT, and heptachlor were reported to be 4600, 1064, and 190 pg/m 3, respectively
(Pimentel, 1995).
Topography and Geology Topography and geology affect pesticide movement in as much as
directing or transporting pesticides. Topography is very obvious, for example, if a field is right
next to a river, it is much more likely for runoff to get into the river system, or if a field is in a
low area not very far above the water table, pesticides are very likely to leach into the
groundwater. On the other hand, a field could be high and dry and very far from any river or
groundwater, but if it is hilly that can pose its own problems. As T. Y. Tong and Chen point out,
surface runoff is an important source of non point pollution (Tong and Chen, 2002). Though it was
pointed out by van der Werf that volatilization is the biggest source of

Creatine Supplements
Protein Powders and Creatine:
Are they beneficial?
Anyone from ordinary people to fitness junkies to professional athletes and Olympians, can benefit
from protein powders and creatine supplements. According to Richard Kreider of the University of
Memphis, it is more than a supplement for athletes... it helps you maintain muscle mass and that has
long term health benefits . These supplements are meant to accommodate a healthy diet, not to be a
replacement for food. When used correctly, creatineand protein powders are beneficial for
everyone.
High quality protein supplements can be very beneficial for weight loss. When trying to lose
weight, it is essential to lose fat instead of muscle tissue. According to Lisa Leupp, adequate
protein is essential for maintaining lean muscle mass . If you are dieting and weight loss is
coming from muscle mass, you will have less energy and will not be able to perform as long. It has
been established that an average adult should take .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight.
If the diet is a reduced calorie diet, than even more protein should be consumed to maintain muscle

lots of unnecessary subject for training and waste money. That result in Training Needs assessment.
The judgment process of whether do training or not is training needs assessment (Raymoond,

  • 3. Essay on The Artwork of Henry Matisse Matisse once said, A good art work should be like an arm chair in which you could relax at the end of the day . This statement of Matisse s indicates that artist s artwork should be an art of balance, of purity and tranquillity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter. An art which is created for everyone in society and that is like a pacifying influence, something like a good arm chair in which you could rest from physical fatigue. Moreover, his paintings are about imagination, dreams and about the nature itself. Matisse s Fauvist paintings Large Red interior and Open Window Collioure are great examples of Matisse s attitude and response to the world around him. The artworks reflect the theories of Fauvists, revealing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The division of the canvas into patches of pure unmixed, warm and strident colour positioned in powerful contrasts with each other, translating the emotions of Matisse. This creates a balance in the artwork by applying equilibrium of colours on both of the sides of the canvas. Primitively, this was the way of Fauvists expressing their emotions, through the use of vibrant colours and compositions. In this way we can see that Matisse artwork is an art of balance which avoids the depressing subject matter. Henri Matisse further explores the Fauvists ideas in his art work, through the use of the lines and shapes. The lines and shapes play a significant role in the work and the lines work together to establish balance. The balance of lines and shapes is achieved through the geometric and organic shapes. The painting Open window, Collioure is typically simplified into shapes and forms whose details are conveyed by untouched brush strokes of roughly the same size. This creates an overall harmony that is unexpected in a composition of such incompatible and dramatic complementary colours. Furthermore, the key to his success in using such intense colours was the realization that he had to simplify his drawing. Matisse was aware that if he intensified the colours for the expressive effect, it would be necessary to reduce the amount of detail used in drawing shapes and lines of the objects. Moreover, by applying the same type of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Why Do People Have Not Involvement With Wildlife I believe that humans should have no involvement with wildlife. People affect the wildlife in bad ways. Humans need to keep a closer eye on the animals if they decide to put them in a zoo. We need to make sure that the animals that are there aren t getting bored or going crazy. People have died because of this. Humans also shouldn t hunt animals for things that they have, such as an elephant s tusks. Here are some reasons why we should have no involvement with wildlife. We need to keep a closer eye on zooanimals. We take animals out of their natural habitat and put them in smaller enclosements. Because they are used to being in big, open fields, they may get a little bored or resort back to their natural instincts. Animals such as tigers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Profit and Loss Statement Paper Justin Fondriest Professor Timothy Groves BSA/310 October 21, 2012 Profit and Loss Statement Paper Before beginning, it should be noted that although this project is to be for a Profit and Loss (P L) Statement, only an Income Statement is available at the Kudler Fine Foods website (Apollo Group, 2011). However, Income Statements and P L Statements are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing. With that said, it cannot be determined conclusively by reading the Income Statement for Kudler Fine Foods if the report is monthly, quarterly or yearly or if the reports are constructed on a different fiscal schedule. The date at the top, however, reads For the Year Ended December 31, 2003 . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now it is important to account for any other, miscellaneous income, such sales of assets and interest on money in savings. For Kudler Fine Foods, this amount is $7,845 (Apollo Group, 2011) and will be added to the income of the company to reach a final, Net Income of $676,795.00(Apollo Group, 2011). Conclusion Kudler Fine Foods, though fictitious, is doing very well for itself even when compared to a large supermarket chain like Walmart. When dividing the Net Income of Kudler Fine Foods, $676,795.00, by the company s Net Sales $10,796,200.00, we get a before tax profit margin of 6.268%. This means that Kudler Fine Foods has almost double the pre tax profit margin than Walmart s post tax profit margin of 3.515% (Ycharts, 2012). This means that unless the yearly taxes due for Kudler Fine Foods is about 50%, they will likely have higher profit margins than Walmart. That is pretty good for a fictitious company... My Favourite Friend It was a pleasant day,I can plainly recall that ,not long ago,we were in class 8th then. The sun was at the highest point, shining gay,and we three,Arpita Varshneya,Pragati and I,were there in the sun devising a plan to take revenge on our so called teaser friend, Rishika, the award winning prankster and our friend from the next door, class 8 B. Friendship with this girl was a kind of compromise for we three, for she lived in our colony and had known us since childhood.Although, she seemed nice by her talks,as any new person might be mistaken for her being a nice girl, her other side was known only to her friends. As I mentioned earlier, she was literally an award winning prankster, the dupes, the unfortunates who had been fair games of this trickster, must surely have cussed her of her goofy antics. We have been friends since first grade, but her this side was exposed to me first only when one day she tried on her favourite magician s,Julius Dein s,trick on me and under the trick s name, ate my whole pizza. Since then, arpita, pragati and I have always been the victims of her tricks. It was just a day before that when she, at pragati s birthday party, threw the whole big cake on her face in over excitement; wretched, we had to survive without the cake on birthday!Back before that, when we were leaving for home after our coaching class, she perforated the tyre of my bicycle and I had to drag my bicycle all the way home. And not to forget about the April fools day, such a fearful day ... The candidate decided to approach a Louisiana judge in the hopes of obtaining a restraining order against the publishing and completion of the documentary. The judge reviewed the plans for the documentary and the film that had been recorded and determined its content was offensive and scandalous, although true and not defamatory. (writing prompt) The judge decided to file the restraining order, which prevents the sale, viewing, or distribution of the documentary. (writing prompt) The dispute over this case is whether or not the director s First Amendment rights to release and complete the documentary have been infringed upon. Upon the basis that prior restraint is presumptively invalid by the government; the restraining order against the film director is unfounded and infringes upon the director s rights protected under the First Amendment. The most applicable law to apply in this situation is equity law. Unlike other laws, judges, not legislatures make equity laws in order to provide fairness to citizens. Additionally, equity law is based on the presumption that fairness is not always achieved through the rigid applications of strict rules. FTP can be utilized to get to (peruse and potentially keep in touch with) records shared among a specific arrangement of clients with a watchword to get entrance to documents shared from a FTP server site. I.Introduction In the August 2015, most of the Australian business media reported that the board of Federation Centre ( FDC ) sacked Steven Sewell as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and then replaced him with Angus McNaughton as a new CEO. This removal subsequently surprised investors and markets because it occurred just two months after the completion of the merger between FDC and Novion Property Group ( Novion ). Moreover, there is no further explanation from the board of FDC about the reason of removal Steven Sewell. Consequently, the shares of the FDC declined 6% since the replacement. Therefore, back when there was no understanding of much at all, the concept of God provided all the answers. The quote above sheds light upon the primary driving force behind the conspicuous poverty that currently plagues American society and its citizens alike. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence from the article Shop Happy that further bolsters this claim is shown when the author states, Wanting to acquire the things that we see and like is as natural as breathing. Babies want to touch things, taste them, bash them against the wall. We appease them with shining objects, distract them with new toys (Smith). The quote above sheds light upon how counterfeit values, namely those interconnected to the fostering of avarice among Americans, exacerbate financial situations to a noteworthy degree, thus yielded a drastic escalation in the numbers of underprivileged individuals. Delving deeper into the specifics, the blatantly obvious sense of egocentrism exercised by affluent coteries of American citizens perpetuates the nation s fixation in an economically rudimentary state, with poorer individuals striving to remain socially tantamount with the affluent. In addition to the inevitable vicissitudes of a stereotypical wage slave lifestyle, the widespread desire to cope with the capricious state of the American economy furthermore aggrandizes the burden placed upon the impoverished. Yet another driving force behind the nearly ubiquitous state of poverty that prevails in America today is exemplified when Schlosser, in her novel In The Strawberry Fields, states, In Watsonville, three to four families will share a small house, seven or eight people to a room. Migrants routinely pay $100 to $200 a month to sleep in a garage with anywhere from four to ten other people. Despite the hardships that accompany the job, there is an oversupply of people hoping to pick strawberries. Another constant worry is finding a place to sleep (Schlosser 433). Following these requirements are often a condition for the state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and local governments without the Federal government providing funds are called unfunded mandates (Losco, Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has reformed its public education system. The Kite Runner follows the story of Amir and his childhood living in Afghanistan with his friend Hassan and Antigone is a greek mythology play about Antigone the daughter/sister of Oedipus, the play follows Antigone on a journey of family loyalty. Works of literature often teach the readers a social or moral lesson, both The Kite Runner and Antigoneteach a very well build lesson that affects the reader s moral ethics. Amir makes a mistake but in the end, learns from it. An example of this is when Assif is beating up Amir: [Amir] What was so funny was that, for the first time since the winter of 1975 I felt at peace. I laughed because I saw that, in some nook in the corner of my mind, I had been looking forward to this. (Hosseini 289). This quote shows us that while Assif is beating Amir, Amir s guilt is dieing down and he is at peace. This also shows that Amir would do anything for Hassan and in a way he is redeeming himself for what he did to Hassan. The moral of The Kite Runner is that no matter the sin, there is always a chance for redemption. The themes of loyalty, sacrifice and betrayal that are present throughout this novel leads to the lesson of redemption for Amir. In Antigone there are multiple lessons that the play teaches us, one of them is that too much pride is going to lead to misfortune and another one is don t try to change your fate. Both Antigone and Creon faced their misfortune for having excessive pride. The Kite Runner and Antigone starts off with all the same themes but in the end both Amir, Hassan, Antigone and Creon have different fate. For both Hassan and Antigone, their loyalty takes them to their graves. The lesson readers learn from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Feminist Philosphoy and May Wollstonecraft Fiercely independent and far from conventional Mary Wollstonecraft called for more equality between the sexes; she ignited the flame that would turn into the feminist movement we know today. Wollstonecraft was a key founder of feminist philosophy. A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792) stated her view that women should have a wider access to education, not taught to depend on their beauty. A committed women s liberationist cannot retire from the job, only die at it. (Dann, 1985) Mary Wollstonecraftencompassed this perfectly. I do not wish them [women] to have power over men; but over themselves (Wollstonecraft, 1995). With education available to everyone in New Zealand it is hard to imagine a time where most women were denied education beyond to know just enough arithmetic to do household accounts and just enough geography to converse with her husband and friends (Gordon, 2005). When women were not valued as equals Wollstonecraft believed that women should be educated and emancipated. Strengthen the female mind by enlarging it, and there will be an end to blind obedience (Wollstonecraft, 1995). While there are more opportunities for women in terms of education; they are underrepresented in fields such as science and technology (Huhman, 2012), although this is slowly changing. In New Zealand there have been two female heads of government (Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark) who are evidence of how far the emancipation of women has progressed from the time period in which Wollstonecraft was labelled a Hyena in petticoats by Horace Walpole. Taught from their infancy that beauty is woman s sceptre, the mind shapes itself to the body, and roaming round its gilt cage, only seeks to adorn its prison (Wollstonecraft, 1995). Wollstonecraft (1985) believed that women should be treated like rational creatures, instead of flattering their fascinating graces . • 37. The Journey Of Transformation And Change In Dante s Inferno In the beginning of Inferno, Dante the poet and Dante the pilgrim are in contradiction with each other in their judgment of the sinners. In his journey of transformation and change, Dante the pilgrim changes and grows through his experiences in hell, as he learns what is right and wrong and manages to reconcile his differences with Dante the poet. We see the convergence of the two Dantes through Dante the pilgrim s evolution of pity, in which by the end of the penultimate canto, the pilgrim no longer shows pity to the sinners a sign of him endorsing the poet s judgment of the sinners. Through the reconciliation of the poet and the pilgrim, Dante explains that we can overcome sin in our own life and find salvation in God by accepting sin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His sensitivity is however, attributable to his initial state of ignorance as his own personal experiences hinder the insight necessary to perceive the reality of the sin. In Canto V, we enter the Circle of the Lustful and find the carnal sinners who have subjected their nobler selves to the animal impulses of the flesh. The reactions of both poet and pilgrim to the plight of Francesca present the same dichotomy of emotion stern in judgment, but faint and swooning in emotional response. Upon hearing the names of those in the Second Circle, pity seized [him], and [he] was like a man astray (V, 71 72). In the beginning of his pilgrimage progress, Dante pities Paolo and Francesca. Paolo and Francesca explain the suffering of the souls in Hell and offer a sympathetic story of two lovers trapped for eternity because of their forbidden love. Dante the pilgrim empathizes with their epic love, as he continues to passionately love and search for Beatrice, whom he has lost on Earth because of her early death and presents a subjective view. Because he can relate to Paolo and Francesca s prohibited love, he cannot help but remain ignorant to the sinful nature of this crime. It is his adoration for an epic love that clouds his sense of reasoning, as Dante does not see souls damned by their own fault, but rather a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Class This Semester Has Been Good Class this semester has been good. It was a well taught and constructed course. The atmosphere was always enjoyable unlike a few of my classes. Professor Airek created an open environment that let me as a student feel as ease communicating and being involved in class. We ve shared many laughs and I ve grown as a writer and as a student. I ve learned that essays need to be turned in on time and stapled together. But most of all, I have learned to never give up. One experience in class that I won t forget was on a Monday morning when we watched a deer frolic through campus like it was his natural habitat. It just really symbolizes our class and how it is based around random comedy. I can vouch that simple things like that and cracking jokes in class makes students more at ease in the classroom. We aren t completely dreading waking up at 7:30 AM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when we know we that class isn t going to be hell. Even while we are having fun in class, we simultaneously learn things through either short, non throat slitting lectures and/or interesting exercises. I say interesting because I ve never done things in any of my English classes in high schoollike I ve done in Composition 1. This is a good thing. The red barn exercise was one of my favorites. This left it up to the imagination of the writer to take over and conjure his or her own alternate ending with the prompt in a short amount of time. This helped me organize my thoughts better in my essays ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Water Is An Important Factor That Affects Sorption Water is an important factor that affects sorption because when there is excess water or when water drains through soil from sources at the surface, adsorbed pesticide molecules can become unattached, or desorbed, and wash away to a new location (Rao, 1999). Just as degradation has a measure in the half life of a compound, sorption also has a measure in the partition coefficient (Koc), which is a ratio of pesticide concentration in a soilbound state versus dissolved in soil water (Rao, 1999). In fact, the solubility of a pesticide and its sorption on soil are inversely related; [in other words], increased solubility results in less sorption (Rao, 1999). Both sorption and degradation are effected by soil type and pH, both of which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Volatilization is a means of major pesticide loss and its rate of loss can often exceeds that of degradation, runoff, or leaching (van der Werf, 1996). For example, in an Oregon study, soil samples 64km from any agriculture were found to have DDT residues, and in Saskatchewan, Canada, 20% of 2, 4 D iso octyl ester volatilized in 24 hours (Pimentel, 1995). Once in the atmosphere, pesticide residues can spread anywhere, even Antarctica (Pimentel, 1995). Large amounts of pesticides and organic compounds can be transported around the globe in the atmosphere, for example, in the atmosphere of the Netherlands, the amounts of BHC, DDT, and heptachlor were reported to be 4600, 1064, and 190 pg/m 3, respectively (Pimentel, 1995). Topography and Geology Topography and geology affect pesticide movement in as much as directing or transporting pesticides. Topography is very obvious, for example, if a field is right next to a river, it is much more likely for runoff to get into the river system, or if a field is in a low area not very far above the water table, pesticides are very likely to leach into the groundwater. On the other hand, a field could be high and dry and very far from any river or groundwater, but if it is hilly that can pose its own problems. As T. Y. Tong and Chen point out, surface runoff is an important source of non point pollution (Tong and Chen, 2002). Though it was pointed out by van der Werf that volatilization is the biggest source of ...
