The National Artists Award (NAA) is the highest recognition bestowed by the Philippines to artists for their significant contributions to the arts and letters. It was established in 1972 by President Ferdinand Marcos to honor Fernando Amorsolo posthumously. The award is conferred every three years through a selection process involving the National Commission on Culture and the Arts and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. There are currently 66 awardees across seven categories including architecture, film, visual arts, literature, dance, music, and theater.
