Eight shipping containers were used to build a house in Ecuador covering an area of 25,175 square meters. The architects maintained the worn appearance of the containers, only modifying them as needed for ventilation or mechanical systems. The construction occurred in four phases, starting with concrete foundations, placement of the containers, addition of steel beams and roofing, and finally cables to support secondary roofs and glass walls between containers. Wood planks provided aesthetic detail among the metal, concrete, and glass materials.
