50 CONSTRUCTION MIRROR || SEPTEMBER 2014 ||www.constructionmirror.com||
To take the lead in shaping the Indian
construction market, with the focus on
quality and efficiency, Jindal panther
has created a service to address the
current issues of the industry.
Construction is one of the pillars of
domestic economy. Currently construc-
tion contributes about 6.9% of GDP.
However, the industry is in need for
modernization in a big way to rise-up
to the demands of customers, statute
and at the same time ensuring safety
of persons engaged & profitability of
organization. Environmental issues are
also required to be addressed.
Projects are widely seen as unpre-
dictable in terms of on-time delivery,
within budget and to the standards of
quality expected. Both public sector
and private sector in coming times will
become much more demanding of
construction in time to come.
In the present scenario, construc-
tion activity is labor intensive, full of
uncertainties and often done in an
unorganized way.Builders are also
undiscriminating and still equate
price with cost while selecting design-
ers and constructors, which is almost
exclusively on the basis of lowest
tendered price.
Quality means not only zero defects
but it also means delivery on-time and
to budget, innovating for the benefit
of the client and stripping out waste,
whether it be in design, materials or
construction on site.
The industry is typically dealing with
the project process as a series of
sequential and largely separate
operations undertaken by individual
designers, constructors and suppliers
who have no stake in the long term
success of the product and no commit-
ment to it. Changing this culture is fun-
damental to increasing efficiency and
quality in construction.
Long felt need to shift from above
scenario to solutions facilitating
customer’s delight & mutual benefits
to both customers and constructors
has becomes the need of the hour.
Ready to use Cut & Bent Rebars take
lead in shaping the Indian Construction
market
Although more than 90% of TMT
Rebars are used as cut and bend during
construction, most Rebars are supplied
in the form of a 12m straight or bent
bar. The requisite fabrication activities
are then performed at the site leading
to a host of inefficiencies due to various
factors such as:
• Non-availability of cheap man-
ual labor employed at site for
cutting,bending,tyingandfixingof
Re-bars.
• Lack of Space at project sites.
• Generation of scrap and conse-
quently handling and disposal,
which is non-core activity for a
constructor
• Cost pressures on construction
companies : finding ways & means
to reduce pilferage and wastage at
site
To take the lead in shaping the Indian
construction market, with the focus on
quality and efficiency, Jindal panther
has created a service to address the
issues listed above
“Quick build is an end-to-end
controlled process that brings the
best quality TMT Rebars cut and bend
accurately through a superior and
fully automated process. This
customer focus solution brings a
cascading improvement in the way
projects are executed by ensuring the
reliability of steel supplies, bringing

improvement inquality, compressing project schedules,
improving the quality of construction,” explains
MrParamSaxena, NSM, Long Products, JSPL.
Mr. V.K. Mehta, Director, Sales & Marketing, Jindal Steel and
Power Limited, said “With QuickBuild, we aim to provide
improved and enhanced services to the construction
sector. Made with the best quality steel and produced using
cutting edge technology, products such as Cut & Bend rebars
help in lowering the production and financial cost. Being
ready-to-use, Cut & Bend rebars are versatile, reduce
wastage, entailing thus savings in financial costs as
well as help reduce time required for construction.
Quick Build is JSPL’s answer to the modern world’s
customized construction needs.”
Need for speed in the construction:
• Environmental benefits
• Safety & Health
• Improved working conditions
• Cost reduction/ Waste elimination
• Enhanced customer satisfaction
• Improved profitability
JSPL’s offerings:
• Quick-build Cut & Bend TMT bars solutions
• Weld Mesh reinforcement applications
• LBS (Light Building Structures)
• LGS (Light Gauge Structures)
• Speed Floor system
• EPS (Extended Poly Styrene) Panels
• JGRS (Jindal Global Road stabilizer)
Jindal Welded Mesh (JWM)
Use of Weldmesh eliminates activities like cutting,
marking and spacing of bars and binding of wires to the bars.
It provides an ideal and convenient solution with practical
and functional advantages.
52 CONSTRUCTION MIRROR || SEPTEMBER 2014 ||www.constructionmirror.com||
Practical Advantage of Weld Mesh:Greater ability to work to
achieve increased output with exact steel areas and spacing.
Simplified drawings with easy checking without errors.
For Site Supervisors: Simple design enables the placement
and checking of steel, avoids wastage and scrap.
For Contractors:Faster work and finish the task within
deadline, reduced steel scrap generation, easy to read
drawings and cross checking, achieve greater accuracy with
less manpower.
Advantages of Processed Rebar solutions
• Lower production costs: The Cut and Bend process,
traditionally performed at the construction site,
requiresbetween40-60manhour/t. Byusingprocessed
Rebars,thecostofprocessingdecreasesconsiderably.by
approximately 30 % of steel value, depending on the
type of construction and diameters mix. Moreover,
lower indirect costs are obtained through shorter
construction time.
• Zero waste: There is usually a certain amount of waste
generated, which varies around 5 to10 % (a mean
value of 7% can be estimated). With the processed
Rebars, customer pays for the theoretical blueprint
weight only, and saves on wastage, processing & freight.
• Lower financial cost: Normally the bars are kept in
storage for three weeks before using them. Add to this
one week for procurement and one additional week
for processing at the construction site, Total lead time
is 5 weeks. On the other hand, when buying processed
Rebars, lead time is considerably shorter as the time
required for the delivery of material at construction site
is lesser, (5 weeks later than when buying the bars at the
plant and bending at construction site).
• Elimination of storage: Material is ordered when needed
and partial deliveries are programmed according to the
concreting schedule. This results in lower financial cost,
since the material gets to construction site ready to be
assembled. Lesser space is also needed at the site, since
no storage space is required for bars (60 m2), nor for the
cut and bend process (120m2).
• Simple, safe and operational: Since the whole cut
and bend process is limited to ordering the material
according to blueprints, handling of 12 m bars is
eliminated, and neatness is improved, thus decreasing
the risk of accidents as well as the eternal problem of
bar thefts.
• Greater response capacity and delivery flexibility:You
can speed-up the pace of your construction to comply
with certification deadlines, or slow it down -e.g. in case
of rain- simply by programming delivery dates with
our Rebar processing plants at Patratu/Nalwa. You can
also decrease the construction time of the Reinforced
Concrete structure.
