Analysis Of The Story Barn Burning By William Faulkner
Freedom In the story Barn Burning, William Faulkner writes about a boy whose father is a
crook and the boy s journey leaving his family. There are two main characters, Colonel Sartoris
Snopes (Sarty) and Abner Snopes. The boy s name in this is Colonel Sartoris Snopes and Abner
Snopes is the father. Abner Snopes feels that the law is always out to get him. So, he believes
that his family should stick r=together no matter what happens. The story is set in the late
eighteen hundreds after the civil war. The first scene of the story takes place in an old grocery
store, in which they are holding a hearing for Abner Snopes. A man named Mr. Harris accuses
Abner for burning down his barn, but he has no proof. The Justice calls Sarty to testify, but he
does not speak. With Mr. Harris having no proof and Sarty not testifying against his father the
Justice tells Abner that he should leave the country and not come back. Abner takes his family
and leaves the country where he is not welcomed. This opening scene sets the stage for the rest
of the story. This story shows that over time if we think that the world is out to get us we will
only push those who are close to us away. After leaving the town the family camped in a grove of
oaks. Before going to bed Abner called Sarty and accused him of not standing up for him. While
Abner was talking to Sarty he brought up the thought that the people in the store were only trying to
get at him. The next morning they got up and

Milky Way Compare And Contrast
In about 4 billion years, the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies will collide. The two
neighbouring galaxies are located in a collection of other galaxies acknowledged as the local
group. This group contains more than 50 galaxies, with a majority of them being dwarf galaxies.
The largest and most massive of galaxies are the Milky Way, Andromeda, and the Triangulum
galaxy. All three of these have a gathering of satellite galaxies surrounding them. Just like how
planets orbit around the sun, these smaller galaxies contain billions of stars and orbit around the
galaxy s center. The satellite galaxies orbit these larger galaxies due to the great gravitational
attraction the larger galaxies emit.
The Milky Way galaxy has an assortment of approximately 30 satellite galaxies which include
Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy, Large Magellanic Cloud, and Small Magellanic Cloud, just to name a
few. The Andromeda galaxy has about 15 satellite galaxies, and the Traingulum galaxy has the

The galaxy contains the Solar System, with more than 200 billion stars and at least 100 billion
planets. The name milky comes from the dim disk like appearance the galaxy has when
observed in the night sky. It is a barred spiral galaxy with four major arms and a diameter of 220
000 light years. The mass of the Milky Way is approximately more than 400 solar masses. The
center, Sagittarius A, is located about 26 000 light years from Earth and contains a supermassive
black hole. The other galaxy involved in the future collision is the Andromeda galaxy, or M31.
There are about 1 trillion stars and could possibly contain more dark matter than the Milky Way.
Its name comes from the constellation of Andromeda, which originated from the mythological
princes Andromeda. It is a spiral type galaxy with at least two spiral arms and a diameter of 260
000 light years. The mass of Andromeda is approximately 400 billion solar masses.

To Kill or Let Die
To kill or to let die What would you choose? You are standing on a platform at a train station. An
out of control train carriage is coming down the track past the platform, there are three workers
repairing the same track further down the line. They don t have time to get out of the way of the
carriage, the only way to save them would be to push the very large person next to you down the
track, the person s body will act to halt the train thus killing him but saving the three workers. A
swift decision has to be made, if I was in this situation I would choose to stand by and watch,
letting the three people die, because I believe it s better to be blamed for indirect killing rather than
directly have blood on my hands. I would let nature take its course.
Good arguments exist for both pushing the person onto the tracks and for not pushing them. The
argument for not pushing the large person is from the no harm principle which says that an action
is permissible if and only if it does not harm others. Since pushing the person next to me onto the
tracks below will kill them, and so harm them, the no harm principle appears to say that the act of
pushing them is not permissible. Since the act is not permissible, I should not therefore push them.
On the other hand, the argument for pushing comes from the minimize harm principle which says
that faced with two courses of action, you should choose that action which minimizes the amount of
harm that results. Since pushing the person

People Are Not Good At Heart Analysis
Humanity is hopeless people are destroying themselves. What will be the world in years? People
are naturally born evil and selfish. People are evil and selfish it is hard to see it but you can start
seeing it sooner or later. Based on the information gathered in module 4 most people are not
good at heart because people are naturally selfish and evil. People are born selfish. Mr. VanDaan
he goes to the food safe and again lights a match. Then cautiously opens the safe taking out a half
loaf of bread (Goodrich and Hackett 341). People want things perfect for themselves. People will
push others out of the way to get things they need. Mr. VanDaan saw that Peter s stomach was
growling at night yet still Mr. VanDaan took the bread. Selfishness is a reason why people are not
good at heart. The Genocides show the worst in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are not perfect therefore they still have evil and selfishness naturally born with also
people blame and scold others to make themselves feel better. Dussel every night she twists and
turns. I don t sleep. I spend half of my night shushing her and now it is the nightmares!
(Goodrich and Hackett 310). Despite all the circumstances Mr. Dussel is mad at Anne because
he wants to sleep therefore he is scolding her and blaming her. Blaming others or scolding, that
people can feel better is a last reason why people are not good at heart. People are not good at
heart from all the reasons summarized. People are selfish naturally taking what they need and not
what others need. People are naturally evil the genocides show the worst in that no one can let
these things happen but they do happen. The last reason is that people will blame and scold each
other to make themselves feel better, from that there will be more depression and other things
related. That is why, most people are not good at heart because of there evilness, selfishness, and

Buy Nothing Day Benefits
Consumerism is so powerful throughout developed nations, it is nearly impossible for citizens to
go a day without buying goods. There are even set days throughout the year in America, such as
Black Friday or Cyber Monday, that strongly encourage consumers to buy as much as they can.
Many developed countries are starting to notice problems with consumerismand have developed an
annual Buy Nothing Day; a day in several countries where citizens are encouraged to not purchase
any goods. This is believed to help expose the problems that can stem from the expenditure of
even just one day of the year (prompt). Holding an annual Buy Nothing Day is beneficial
worldwide as it will save more natural resources and teach kids at a young age how to quit the
habit of excessive consuming.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I recently read an article on The New York Times that showed the statistics of the amount of
resources the earth provides for the goods consumed by its inhabitants. One example of a
shocking statistic was that the U.S. takes up only five percent of the world s population, yet
consumes over 30% of the world s natural resources, such as wood. This frightening fact is
destructive to the environment as the earth can only provide a limited amount of resources and
soon effects of using these resources, such as deforestation, will occur. If nations such as America
keep using up resources at this rate, the environment will continue to go downhill. Buy Nothing
Day would help downsize this issue by saving a whole day s worth of resources. While the
average day does not seem like a lot of time for consumers to use up an excessive amount of
resources, the combination of natural material consumed by every country per day can add up to an
immense amount. In order to preserve the neglected environment, the establishment of an annual
Buy Nothing Day should be kept in unison by all

Parameters such as amplitude of oscillatory and acoustic wave, radius of bubble and number of
methanol molecules which have effect on bubble kinetics are more pronounced at frequency of 20
KHz. And this frequency is able to maintain cavitation effect in reaction medium. So 20 KHz can be
considered as optimum frequency and used for further simulations. 5.3 Effect of reaction

Basketball Game Analysis
In the year of 2014, I decided that I wanted to play basketball. So then, I tried out for the Oxford
Park Commission basketball team and made it. Soon it was down to our final season and when I
was playing basketball, our team was down by 12 during the first quarter just about to be the
second quarter. I was sitting on the bench waiting for the coach to call my name so that he can put
me back in the game., I knew then that I would be able to help my team win the game, or at least
try. I was already in game mode because I had started off the game with 10 points, 2 steals, and 1
block. While in the second quarter, I was playing shooting guard and my teammate Syvonte was
playing point guard as we saw each other running down the court. Soon it

The Great Wave Off Kanagawa Japanese Masterpiece
The Great Wave off Kanagawa; a Japanese Masterpiece
Almost instantaneously recognizable, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (woodblock, 10 1/8 x 14
15/16 in, c. 1830 32), created by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830, beautifully captures
the graceful, swelling movement of a crashing tsunami. Because of the way in which line and
proportion are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean.
Derived from the Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of
works from Hokusai titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the
mountain in a wide array of angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawais the
most iconic and cherished piece of Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly,
Hokusai is considered prominent father figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western
modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly displays how tiny and weak man is compared to
the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a quintessential piece of art, but it established a
piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and politics, that has instilled a tremendous
positive impact on the twenty first century. Created solely from the vivid imagination of Hokusai,
the primary compositional focus of this simple, but deceptively dynamic print, is the massive deep
blue and white wave located in the left foreground of the work. Its detailed, curling white caps

The Growth Of The Manufacturing And Agriculture Sectors
Increased productivity in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors has created a higher level of
disposable income in the population, which has led to increased purchases of services. As
income rises, the demand for goods tends to rise less rapidly than the demand for services; hence,
the importance of services in the economy will rise. The result has been an evolution of the
economy from one geared primarily to manufactured goods to an economy engaged in the creation
of services. Thus the growth of services has been significant. Changes in the pattern of employment
will have implications upon where and how people live, upon educational requirements, and
consequently upon the kinds of organizations that will be important to society. Industrialization
created the need for semiskilled worker who could be trained in a few weeks to perform the
routine tasks attending machines. The service economy has caused a shift to white collar
occupations in health, education, and government. For the first time in the history of industrial
society, the number of white collar workers (professionals; managers; officials; proprietors,
clerical kindred, and sales workers) exceeded the number of blue collar workers (craftsmen and
foremen; operatives; and laborers) and the gap is widening. The most interesting growth has been in
the managerial and professional technical fields. The coordination of machines and people for the
production of goods was central to the industrial society.

Should A College Education Be Free
We have all been in a group project with an unmotivated person, which causes us to work harder to
pick up their slack. No matter how much instruction and guidance we give them, they still will not
complete the task. This would be very similar to providing a chance at a free college education, in
which that chance at free educationwould be wasted by those who wouldn t follow through. College
education shouldn t be free to everyone because it would raise taxes that would burden the
working class, and would be taken advantage of by the lethargic people in our society.
In the first place, noting in this world is truly free. As stated in a national newspaper, New York
Times, Andrew P. Kelly, director of the Center on Higher EducationReform at the American
Enterprise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He says, First, free college isn t free, it simply shifts costs from students to taxpayers (1). When
students are no longer paying for their own education they lose the true value of a college
education. Additionally, if students are not paying for their college education, they surrender some
of their motivation to complete school in four years. Therefore causing them to staying in school
longer, which will cost taxpayers more money.
Looking at it another way, everyone in our society should be able to chase their dreams of going
to college, and the more educated our society is the better our economy should become. In a
campaign for free college, Wyatt Larkin states his opinion on why college education should be
free. Larkin states, Post secondary education ought to be completely free for the exact same reason
that elementary and secondary education have long been free because a functioning democracy
demands an informed citizenry and because a highly competitive world economy requires that we
make the best possible use of our brainpower, our most important natural resource ( Why College
Should be Tuition Free 1). I totally disagree with Larkin,

Explain Why The Adult Age Should Be Changed To 16
Why hasn t the adult age been changed to 16 yet? I think the adult age should be changed to 16
because that is when teens start to become responsible. Also it should be 16 because this is the
age that teens learn to drive a car. This adulthood age should be changed because this is when, as
I said before, teens begin to drive cars. They need to be 100% trustworthy and responsible
otherwise lives could be lost. The adult age should be 16 because teens will start to decide if
they will be accountable for their decisions. Teens should know they are an adult at this age
because if they don t they won t know that they should be responsible on the roads or that they
could cause serious damage for others if they crash. By them putting restrictions on the drivers,
but not raising the age they believe that the 16 year old drivers can be responsible under
restrictions. Many states have begun to raise the age by imposing restrictions on 16 year old
drivers. (Robert Davis Pg. 248.) This is important because no matter what restrictions are put on
teen drivers, they still need to know how to drive in emergencies or just in everyday life. This
proves my claim because people need to give teens a chance before raising the age.... Show more

Teens also need to know they are an adult at this age because they can start making responsible
decisions on their own otherwise they will never become responsible. Serving in the military
before one is considered responsible enough to purchase alcohol is one of the glaring
inconsistencies. (Barbara Hofer Pg. 240). It is important to know this because everyone should
have the right to join the military at the same age all around the country. If they don t, there will be
more and more outbursts of anger when someone finds out that it is only in the area of the country
that they can t join the armed

Plateau Colville Analysis
Do you know anything about how the Coastal and the Plateau use their surroundings? Or especially
how they survived? The Puyallup and the Colville tribes interacted with their environment to
provide food, shelter and clothing for their people.
The environments that the Coastal and plateau groups lived in affected the resources they had
available and impacted how they obtained their food and what they ate. For example on page 1234
the text said, Some of the food that the Coastal Puyallup ate was, five kind of salmon that they
caught. Also they hunted deer, elk, black bear, beavers, raccoons, marmot. Similar to Coastal

Passivity In Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, Shelley characterizes the female characters as passive, disposable
and serving an utilitarian function. Women such as Safie, Elizabeth, Justine, Margaret and Agatha
provide nothing more but a channel of action for the male characters throughout the novel.
Meaning, the events and actions acted by them or happen to them are usually for the sake of the
male character gaining new knowledge or sparking an emotion. But, at the same time, the main
male character, Victor Frankenstein, only adds to the the gendered construction of Shelley s world
instead of dismantling it. Fueled by their primary use of plot progression, otherwise meaningless

everything is bigger, you go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR). The HLSR, or
Houston Rodeo as it is referred to by Houstonians, is the largest event of its kind in the world and
has been in session since 1932. In 2013, The HLSR had more people in attendance (approx 2.6

happens to be the 4th largest city in the United States as well as the most populated city in the state
of Texas. The HLSR is held at Reliant Parkfor three weeks during March, and since parking is

Technopoly Neil Postman Summary
Author Neil Postman s main argument in his book Technopoly: A Surrender of Culture to
Technology is not between humanists and scientists but between technology and people. In today s
society technology has become accepted as a friend, a helper, something needed. Postman argues
that the uncontrolled growth of technologydestroys the vital sources of our humanity. It creates a
culture without a moral foundation. It undermines certain mental processes and social relations that
make humanlife worth living Postman XII). Technology according to Postman, creates a culture

This makes it difficult to argue with him because what are you really arguing? Postman believes
that by technology giving us instant information it is forcing out culture to suffer from information
glut, taking the meaning and control out of information; information has become a form of
garbage, not only incapable of answering the most fundamental human questions but barely useful
in providing coherent direction to the solution of even mundane problems (Postman 69). Postman
explains how society got to this point in his stages of information revolution, starting with the
printing press, expansion of schools, however, he does so in a very black and white manner.
There were several reasons for the rapid growth of the common school, but none was more
obvious than that it was a necessary response to the anxieties and confusion aroused by information
on the loose (Postman 62). As seen here he does not really back up his points. In his second stage

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union And President Vladimir Putin
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union and President Vladimir Putin s ascendency in the early
2000s, he and his government have been hell bent on reclaiming Russia s old title of a world
superpower. In conjunction with his administration, Putin has commandeered Russia s identity to
the narrative of being an energy superpower by using the nation s most effective weapon: the
country s energy resources. Peter Behr s article for the Congressional Quarter Global Researcher
titled Energy Nationalism, seeks to demonstrate and explain why and how Russiain addition to
other countries such as China and Venezuela became so nationalistic and protective of its energy
resources. Furthermore, Since the oil age began more than a century ago, governments in the
developing world on both the right and left have promised their people a fair share of the
wealth...Instead, black gold has spawned corruption, economic hardship, vast class differences and
civil war (Behr 2007). When politically creating a nation s identity on the world s stage, leaders
incorporate the benefits and effects of human, material, and natural resources. Since these are
constantly evolving variables, a country s identity, particularly relating to natural resources, is
constantly evolving as well. Nevertheless, Putin is reminiscing and effectively reenacting Russia s
energy production days in order to shape the narrative of being a geopolitical and energy

Entrepreneurial Spirit Among East Asian Chinese

Executive Summary This research showed that entrepreneurial spirit among East Asian Chinese
youths is predicted by personality characteristics such as risk taking propensity, persistence, and
internal locus of control, as well as by motivational factors such as love for money and desire for
security. Generally, these characteristics are not prevalent in an East Asian culture. The underlying
predictors, however, differed for Hong Kong and Singapore. Risk taking was a common predictor

Thus, identifying and inculcating potential entrepreneurs is one way towards finding solutions to

rated to have a keen sense of entrepreneurship (World Competitiveness Yearbook, 1998), while in
Singapore, concerted efforts towards fostering a culture or attitude suitable for entrepreneurship
have been suggested (The Straits Times, 1993, 1999). Further, Hong Kong and Singapore are the
Asian Tigers known for their competitive spirit and open market economies. It will be interesting to

Any author or screenwriter wants to have an attention grabbing title. One that will intrigue you or

will be about. Charles Ferguson, Adam Bolt, and Chad Beck have all succeeded with these
criteria in their screenplay, the Inside Job. The Inside Job is truly about an inside job that included
many government employees and Wall Street workers. Of course, you can decide for yourself if
these people do what the documentary shows they did. As for me, the evidence is overwhelming.

This turned into a crisis which cost tax payers about $124 billion and many people their life savings.
One inside job that occurred in the 1980s involved Charles Keating. The documentary briefly
touches on this subject, but I decided to delve a little deeper into the matter in order to see if it was
truly worth mentioning. Lincoln Savings and the Keating Five was overtaken by the American
Continental Corporation. Before Keating became in power, the company was regulated well.
Then, when Keating began his reign, he fired all of the current management. Red flag right there.
Since the deregulation began in the beginning of the decade that allowed savings and loan
companies to make higher risk investments, loan operators took advantage of them. Take a guess
at who was one of those people. Yes, Charles Keating. With Keating at the front, Lincoln s Assets
skyrocketed from $1.1 billion to $5.5 billion. Then, in 1985, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board
(FHLBB) finally thought that maybe, just maybe, the savings industry s ignorance to riskiness was
exposing the government s insurance funds to huge losses. They instituted a few rules that they
believed would help the situation. Just a year later after these rules were implemented, Lincoln was
under investigation. The San Francisco office of the FHLBB began to audit Lincoln. By the end of
that year, the FHLBB had found that Lincoln had indeed been

slaves themselves that had wished to end the evil practice of slavery. One such Abolitionist,
who is considered in my opinion and the opinion of many others, was Frederick Douglass. This
famous former slave had managed to both mentally and physically escape slavery, while also
managing to help many others become free by shedding more light on the subject. From his
famous autobiographies and Abolitionist work, to his conflict with the segregational Jim Crow
laws, Frederick Douglass truly was one of, if not the most important figure in the Abolitionist
movement. As a child, Frederick douglass was unable to form an emotional bond with his mother
due to the limitations set by slavery, and was both mentally and physically tortured. By the time
he had turned into a teenager he had managed to learn how to read and write, and had been under
the service of multiple masters overseers, most of which had been cruel and unforgiving. Yet,
there was an urge in Frederick Douglass s life that had caused him to fight back, and so he did, and

From his life as a slave to his escape and support of the abolitionist movement to even his attack on
segregation, Frederick Douglass was the true embodiment of the abolitionist movement. Of course,
there were other important abolitionists as well such as John Quincy Adams and Arthur Tappan.
Despite their importance, John Quincy Adams had only fought for the abolitionist movement late
into his life, and Arthur Tappan had donated large amounts of money while also writing some
Abolitionist articles. Yet neither of them were able to get the public s support like Frederick
Douglass had, making him the most important figure in the Abolitionist

As With Any Other Comparative Analysis, This Essay Will
As with any other comparative analysis, this essay will discuss the similarities between two
elements. The elements in this situation are the Republic of Ireland and the United States of
America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and
political outlook, social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each
country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their business structure. The first
factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. To begin one will address the
political outlook of these two countries, and with that comes the form of government. Both are
republics. With the United Statesbeing a constitutional federal... Show more content on

1). Their duty is to speak to the government on behalf of a community and/or state. In the judicial
branch, both countries have a Supreme Court ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1).
Whose role is to hear legal cases of significant magnitude to the country and/or its citizens. One
key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot serve past age 70 ,
whereas in the United States the judges are appointed for life ( The World Factbook: IRELAND
, 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major
branches of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve
active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two countries. This comparing, and
contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary
quite significantly in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland s population as of July
2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly 324 million United States
population ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). That means the Irish population could
be added about 65 times to reach the American population. However, these two nations do have
some similarities. First, both countries rely heavily on technology to propel their economic growth
and expansion. For Ireland has a talented pool of high tech laborers and

Native Architects And Architectures Introduced
As a Chinese immigrant who lived in the USA for four years, I have been amazed by the western
architects and architectures introduced in lectures and textbook. Buildings like Sagrada Familia,
Guggenheim Museum, Burj Al Arab, and even the White House have attracted my interested
toward architecture by bringing me endless awes and wonders. Out of so many famous and
recognizable architects who designed marvelous buildings, this special Chinese family attracts extra
attention. Maybe a highly skilled architect is honorable, but a loyal architect family who devoted
their generations to architecture deserves the respect from all architects. In the following
paragraphs, I will describe this family and their work, as well as their importance and contribution
to the history of architecture.
Yang Shi Lei , meaning the Lei style , was a name for Lei family who worked as royal architects
over 200 years of Qing dynasty. In the end of 17th century, like many artisans, Fada Lei came to
Beijing and started working to build the palaces for Qing dynasty. Due to his outstanding building
skills and different architectural style, he was prided to be the designer of many royal buildings.
He had total of seven generals at the end the Qing dynasty, and they were all responsible for
designing and building the royal buildings such as the main palaces, imperial tomb, the old
Summer Palace, the Summer Palace and so on. To commemorate Lei s family s contribution to the

Description Of A Person s Personality

ESTJ vs. INFJ What is the Difference? A person s personality is his or her essence. It is what
guides decisions, emotions, and even thoughts. Some may wonder if it is possible to explore
every nuance of such a complex part of a being, but there are ways to determine what type of
personality a person has, and then branch off into a more detailed examination of that person
specifically. Combined with other factors, such as personality disorders and the environment that
someone has grown up in, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, test and analysis can
determine an accurate portrayal of a personality. Created in 1943 by Katherine Briggs and Isabel
Briggs Myers, it is a system made up of four basic functions and sub functions that combine to
make a personality type. The mother and daughter team constructed it off of Jung s theories
(History 2). Based on this system, one of the most common personality types in the US
population is called an ESTJ, and one of the least common personality types is called an INFJ.
There are many differences and similarities between these two types. An ESTJ personality,
overall, is practical, fact based, and outgoing, whereas an INFJ personality is more private and
makes decisions based on feelings; however, both are organized people who make good leaders and
are capable of great success in roles that involve helping others.

Downfall Of Tsar Nicholas II Essay
The downfall of Tsar Nicholas II was hurried by the First World War, as although it wasn t the
only factor in his downfall it did tarnish his name causing the Russian people to lose hope for
their Emperor and Autocrat. Leading up to the First World War there were many issues that the
Tsar had not dealt with, military, political, economic and food, which with a strong leader they
would have endured during the war, but as his name became tarnished so did the peoples ideals
of him. This essay will show that without the First World War the Tsar Nicholas II would still have
been able to rule with a country that would have supported him, or at least seriously delayed the
revolution. The beginning of the Russian peoples disdain for their leader was... Show more content

The rate of deaths of officers in the army meant that men from the ranks were being promoted,
but these men felt loyal to their soldiers rather than the Tsar. The army was also a place were
Russian soldiers were becoming radicalized as many different Russians of different classes were
fighting in this war, meaning support of the Tsar was declining. The Russians were immensely
unorganized during the war as serious food shortages came into effect as factories were only
reducing weapons now, wounded men were left at railway stations in Petrograd without help,
and councils took on the role of providing troops with supplies and medicine which dampened
their confidence in the Tsar. This doubt was furthered when the Tsar took personal leadership of
the war subsequently making him responsible for all the failings during the war in the eyes of
the Russians. The Tsar s image was also hindered because of his wife, the Tsarina Alexandra, who
was German and thought to be a spy, she was close friends with Rasputin, the mad monk, who
was said to have an influence over her, but he was accused of drunkenness and sleeping with

Mobile Phones And Mobile Technology
In a remarkably short period of time, Cell phones and mobile technology have become
omnipresent in the day to day life in Bangladesh. People around the country are using their cell
phones for a variety of purposes, especially for calling, texting and taking pictures as well as
social awareness raising, literacy training and skill development. The rapid expansion of mobile
phone network has been accompanied by a growing emphasis on providing more cellular based
services and promoting efficiency and financial sustainability. The recent addition to the list is the
mobile banking service.
Literature Review
Mobile technologies are changing economic life in rural areas of Bangladesh, where many
people are using cell phones for a range of financial transactions, such as receiving and sending
money transfers. Indeed, mobile banking is already being used by banks and mobile network
operators to provide millions of unbanked consumers in rural areas as a way to store and access
money digitally. The limited information available suggests that mobile banking is helping these
people by providing access to financial services and the ability to pay and be paid electronically
sometimes for the first time in their lives. Mobile banking allow unbanked people to use their
phones as a bank account: to deposit, withdraw and transfer money with their handset. People can
also use mobile systems to pay utility bills and pay for goods in merchant shops.

Analysis Of The War In Iraq
The basic levels of analysis start at the individual level. This is done by locating the sources of
behaviors and outcomes of the characteristics and natural tendencies of people. Examples of the
variables would be one s perceptions, personality, and preferences. By using these variables, one
can analyze the effects those individuals will have on the policies. In the war in Iraq, we can analyze
the individual role George W. Bushhad as the President of the United States. Because the President
viewed Saddam Hussein as aggressive and dangerous, Bush chose to declare war against them in
order to prevent further attacks. George W. Bush s personality as a protector and a leader would
cause him to feel the need to protect his country, and also the allies of the United States. He saw
the signs of aggression as acts of hostility and proceeded to intervene on the Iraqi situation.... Show

be extant in Ecuadorian Mountain Forests. The species, which was once predicted to be abundant,
was thought to have been extinguished mainly in part by the chytid fungus, a fungus which is
decreasing the population of many other amphibian species as well. According to the information
provided by the article, the Azuay is not the first to be re found after thought extinction. Scientists
are still unsure about the species survival however, in which conservation methods will be needed.

What I found most interesting about the article was how different the Montsechia vidalii is from

aspects of the plant have evolved overtime. For example, the plants had genders, and did not have

can both do a great amount, but at the same time a small amount. Although the changes are
somewhat large, such as the removal of, they are tiny in comparison to other evolutionary changes,
which could have taken even longer. Questions:
How much does the Montsechia vidalii resembler, the coontail, resemble the original flower?
How were the scientists able to confirm that the plant had different genders?

The Express and Reflect essay is my strongest process piece. This essay was about me coming

attention. For example, The night I met her I knew she was special. I instantly fell in love with
her. She had long, wavy, brown hair that made her skin glow. My eyes met her bright, shiny,
emerald green eyes, which left me speechless. The beginning of that paragraph describes the
person perfectly. The reader has an idea of what the essayis going to be about just from reading the

While in Bath, Sir Walter obsessed about the dearth of attractive women: He had frequently
observed, as he walked, that one handsome face would be followed by thirty, or five and thirty
frights; and once, as he had stood in a shop in Bond street, he had counted eighty seven women
go by, one after another, without there being a tolerable face among them . Tolerable Face is an
example of figurative language. Such a fascination with outward appearance severely limits Sir
Walter s prospects of finding another wife or intelligent friends and keeps him ignorant and self
centred. Austen clearly uses the theme of appearance versus reality to characterize Anne and Sir
Walter. She evidently believes that how a character sees others is a direct reflection of that
character s personality. Thus, we know that Anne Elliot possesses true depth of character and
sincerity because her superficial family fails to recognize her fine qualities: Anne, with an
elegance of mind and sweetness of character, which must have placed her high with any people
of real understanding, was nobody with either father or sister: her word had no weight; her
convenience was always to give way . Anne is clearly the only Elliot who can see reality : she
understands her family s need to economize and recognizes Mary s frequent sickness as a call for
attention. This is moral significance; she

The European Union And Domestic Legal Systems And The...
The concern here was that the lawyers do not have any certifications, schooling, or experience in
judging cases. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia
Malmstrom explains:
the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose
which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again,
like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which
might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just
like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom)
This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be
more weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European
Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much
discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high
developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems
are already able to make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig,
responded to this argument in a debate about the new ICS. Schiegelmich explained that even
though these court systems are highly developed, it is very hard to completely eliminate national
bias. He adds to that that European

Cultural Ignorance in Heart of Darkness, By Joseph Conrad...
An inescapable ignorance dominates the way we define culture . It is all too easy to define
culture when a group of people feel as though they are part of the same culture. A bias arises when
defining this term, because we consider ourselves to be cultured . We define culture with our own
definitions, and we judge it through our own prejudiced eyes. To accurately define culture, we must
take ourselves out of the cultural boundaries we have been accustomed to. Of course, this is
impossible. Accordingly, defining the essence of culture is something I cannot attempt to do.
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the attempt to define the cultural line leads to the corruption,
greed, and evil of the white man. Even when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aldous Huxley s A Brave New World
Aldous Huxley has presented us a compelling story in the 20th century called a Brave New
World. One of the most notable dystopian novels, it calls for a reader to conceptualize a world, in
which society and science are synonymous with each other, history had faded far into obscurity,
and Henry Ford, the creator of the assembly line, becomes a deity to many uniformed individuals.
The book was about how humans are no longer created by the conventional means of mating, rather
artificially, through the process of separating the ovaries and the sperm cells, and utilizing certain
embryos in a biological process called Bokanovskification, the act of stimulating an embryo to
undergo a mitotic process in which the end result being that up to 96... Show more content on

Thus, in our contemporary world that we live in, some could surmise and contend that this book
depicted society culminating to this point right now. As we progress throughout the society s
continuous developments, there is reasonable evidence to conclude that Huxley s dystopian novel
was his premonitions and envisioning that society would be more centric to our technologies and
science, as well as other factors, whilst losing sense of morality. One aspect of the novel that he
would portray over our contemporary society is the oversaturation of technology in the story. For
example, this could be showcased in this quote: ...appalled by the rushing emptiness of the
night...so haggard and distracted among the hastening clouds. (Huxley, p.91). This quote reveals to
the reader that being an observer of nature has some stigma connotated towards it. In essence, it is
looked down upon, as the quote the succeeded it, one of characters urged to turn on the radio, as it
was detracting her from the norms of her society. Another major aspect of technology, as mentioned
previously, was cloning in society. There were many experiments performed on the cloned embryos
as well as attempting to homologate them to the respective castes. For example, the deprivation of
an embryo of a human at seventy percent you got dwarfs. (Huxley, p.14). This is just one of the
multitude of experimentations that have been undergone in order to keep the caste system stable,

Identity Development of Student Veterans
The intended purpose of this study was to describe and understand the identity development of
student veterans as they transitioned from active duty service members to students at a higher
educational institution. This study was phenomenological in nature and focused on seven
individual, veteran, full time students completing their first undergraduate degree at CU Denver.
Despite the increased number of student veterans on campus, there remains a continued lack of
understanding regarding this section of the student population at colleges across the United States
and as I learned, here at CU Denver as well. It is important that campus administrators have a solid
understanding of student veterans needs and experiences in order to better assist them while they
are here at CU Denver. In my study I concentrated on the actual experiences of seven student
veterans attending collegefull time. This method was chosen because of its in depth interviewnature
and the focus on participants lived experiences and worldviews. Veterans have detailed life
experiences that are often not understood by non veterans so in explaining some of my findings we
civilians could have problems relating or understanding. Because of the time limitations involved in
this project, interviewing a larger number of participants was not feasible, especially considering
the attention to detail required for personal, one on one discussions. Furthermore, since the study

distinctively slow but obnoxious footsteps through Janet s hall. His nothing above normal
compliments towards Janet echo, along with her fiddle laughter, until he opens the door to Van
Buren s office. Van Buren is in slight relief. The few previous times with Brady had not been so
voluntary. He pulls his bottom desk drawer out and walks his finger through in search of Gough
s folder. I did not have you listed for a noon appointment, but it is quite nice to. . . A sudden plop
takes his speech off track, and entices him to glance up from his desk drawer. . . . See you. . . In
front of the desk stands Brady, almost too enlightened. He had dropped his flaccid member on the
edge of the doctor s desk, acquainted with a bunched and clinging condom, and he is posed

The Modern Art Era
The Modern Art Era is a pretty large expanse of time. It ranges from the 1860 s to the 1960 s and
presents itself in a variety of techniques and styles. I myself am a photographer so I thought it was
fitting to focus on something I am interested in. I chose to research Imogen Cunningham and her
contributions to the modern era as a female photographer. I mainly chose Imogen because a lot of
her work reminded me of things that I want to attempt to create as well as things that I have
photographed. Imogen was born April 12th of 1883 in Portland, Oregon. When she was almost
done with high school she had made up her mind that she wanted to be a photographer. She ended
up telling her father about it just shortly after she had decided. He thought... Show more content on

She worked up until the day she died in 1976 at the age of 93. She often thought the goal of life
was to get a lot of work done each day and I think she believe she had done so (Mitchell). She was
one of the main members in the F/64 group along with Ansel Adamsand Edward Weston. Together
they managed to create a new style of photography that went against the then popular aesthetics of
pictorial photography. She was a woman who made sure to keep the human side of her photographs
it is often said that her nudes seem more human than that of Edward Weston

Speech About Billy Cheeseburger
Billy Cheeseburger
Do you want to hear a story? Oh, you re going to hear a story alright a story that you will most
likely think of your whole life. This is the story of Billy Cheeseburger.
I grew up in Southern Alabama as a slave to an extremely rude owner with my mother in the
1840s. We tried escaping hundreds of times, but we always managed a way to get caught. Due to
our relentless efforts in trying to escape, we would get whipped extremely hard, but I didn t care
as long as I was with my momma I knew that I was safe. Then that terrible day happened our owner
informed us there was a slave auction in Montgomery Alabama, 10 miles away from our home in
Richmond, Alabama. Like any other greedy white man, our owner came to my momma and told
her that she was going to be auctioned for money. Oh how much I cried that day. That night I
tried convincing my mother to escape in the morning and go to Fort Washington which was right
across Montgomery but my momma just wouldn t budge. She said that They will find me and try
and sell me to another owner far away from you and you know yo momma can t run fast . To
make me happy, my momma told me that she was just going to be gone for a few weeks and that
she will eventually come back and that the two of us will escape to Fort Washington.
The Decision
I went with my momma to the auction where there were a lot of white men shouting about how
much money they would spend for a certain slave. My momma was up next for auctioning she said

Unconditional Positive Regard In Psychology Essay
Psychology is all about human minds and how people behave. Psychology today are more based
on social, lifespan development and personality. There are several parts of psychology, which
individuals are more likely to involvement such as, unconditional positive, conformity and
personality parenting styles. Unconditional positive regard is in roger s theory that based on the
child s sense of being unconditionally loved and valued even if a child, do not conform to the
standards and expectation of others. For example, when I was babysitting a child, I was able to
disagree of child s specific behavior without completely refusing the child himself. As a
babysitter, I said to a child that I love her, nevertheless I cannot do what she like because it is not
good behavior. The reason that this is an example of unconditional positive regard it is because
the objectifying tendency is fully operational and she makes selections that move her in the way
of greater growth and fulfillment of potential. According from Rogers, he believes that it is
through consistent knowledge of unconditional positive regard that one develop a psychologically
healthy and fully functioning person. Moreover, this was the only way which the child s vital
sense of self worth can continue intact. Conformity is the tendency to regulate one s behavior,
attitudes, or beliefs to group norms in reply to real or imagined group pressure. For instance, in fall
2016, I was taking a mathematic course and our professor

Discussion Assess your results: recovery yields (where you may have lost yield), purity from
melting points (degree of purity/impurity, what could be the source of impurity).
Reaction Equations
Part 1. Salt Formation by Acid Base Reaction
PHENOLS Phenols are weak organic acids and more soluble in organic solvent than in water.
Phenols only react with NaOH (strong inorganic base) to form water soluble ionic salt. Phenols do
not react with NaHCO3 (weak inorganic base). [pic]
CARBOXYLIC ACIDS Carboxylic acids are strong organic acids, soluble in organic solvent and
not soluble in water. Carboxylic acids react with both NaOH (strong inorganic base) and NaHCO3
(weak inorganic base) to form water soluble ionic salt. CO2 gas will be produced when bicarbonate
reacts with carboxylic acid.
[pic]
NEUTRAL COMPOUNDS Neutral compounds do not react with either NaOH or NaHCO3. They
are soluble in organic solvent and not soluble in water.
Part 2. Recovery of Non Ionic Acids by Acidification
The carboxylic acid is recovered from the carboxylate salt dissolved in aqueous solution by
acidification. Once protonated, the carboxylic acid becomes non ionic, thus insoluble in water. As
a result, the acid precipitates out as a solid. This solid will be recrystallized for purification. The

Tony Chaplain, born in Dominican Rep. presents two seas. Two waters with two metaphors

garbage in the water, are part of the work; the blur and bleached to form a beautiful dirt with

the second, the work becomes tragic and unforgettable: thousands of slippers bluish are under an

First Sight Is Real
In my own opinion I will explain to you if I think love at first sight is real. I believe that love at
first glance isn t real because you truly have no idea who that person is. If you like somebody
because of their looks, it s from lust or desire, not love. You have to know the person, not just go
out and propose to every single, pretty person out there, otherwise it could actually lead to bad
decisions and later can harm you.
When we were all little we got told to stay away from strangers because they will kidnap us, well
now that we are older we just assume we are okay, and safe..but we actually aren t. Ted bundy is
a good example of this, Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic by many of his young
female victims, traits he exploited to win their trust. He typically approached them in public
places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering
and assaulting them at more secluded locations.. The victims trusted him, because he was
handsome, and well spoken, so they wouldn t of ever thought he was a bad person. Real courage
is displayed in the book beowulf. He was a man who would fight with honor and courage. He
would even disarm his weapon if his enemy didn t have anything to fight with. He jumped in a lake

Both the story and the movie revolves around a knight falling in love with a beautiful maiden. I don
t think there was much jousting in the book as much as the movie, but both the story and the movie

nobody died in the movie, but in the book there was one

  • 2. Analysis Of The Story Barn Burning By William Faulkner Freedom In the story Barn Burning, William Faulkner writes about a boy whose father is a crook and the boy s journey leaving his family. There are two main characters, Colonel Sartoris Snopes (Sarty) and Abner Snopes. The boy s name in this is Colonel Sartoris Snopes and Abner Snopes is the father. Abner Snopes feels that the law is always out to get him. So, he believes that his family should stick r=together no matter what happens. The story is set in the late eighteen hundreds after the civil war. The first scene of the story takes place in an old grocery store, in which they are holding a hearing for Abner Snopes. A man named Mr. Harris accuses Abner for burning down his barn, but he has no proof. The Justice calls Sarty to testify, but he does not speak. With Mr. Harris having no proof and Sarty not testifying against his father the Justice tells Abner that he should leave the country and not come back. Abner takes his family and leaves the country where he is not welcomed. This opening scene sets the stage for the rest of the story. This story shows that over time if we think that the world is out to get us we will only push those who are close to us away. After leaving the town the family camped in a grove of oaks. Before going to bed Abner called Sarty and accused him of not standing up for him. While Abner was talking to Sarty he brought up the thought that the people in the store were only trying to get at him. The next morning they got up and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Milky Way Compare And Contrast In about 4 billion years, the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies will collide. The two neighbouring galaxies are located in a collection of other galaxies acknowledged as the local group. This group contains more than 50 galaxies, with a majority of them being dwarf galaxies. The largest and most massive of galaxies are the Milky Way, Andromeda, and the Triangulum galaxy. All three of these have a gathering of satellite galaxies surrounding them. Just like how planets orbit around the sun, these smaller galaxies contain billions of stars and orbit around the galaxy s center. The satellite galaxies orbit these larger galaxies due to the great gravitational attraction the larger galaxies emit. The Milky Way galaxy has an assortment of approximately 30 satellite galaxies which include Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy, Large Magellanic Cloud, and Small Magellanic Cloud, just to name a few. The Andromeda galaxy has about 15 satellite galaxies, and the Traingulum galaxy has the Pisces Dwarf as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The galaxy contains the Solar System, with more than 200 billion stars and at least 100 billion planets. The name milky comes from the dim disk like appearance the galaxy has when observed in the night sky. It is a barred spiral galaxy with four major arms and a diameter of 220 000 light years. The mass of the Milky Way is approximately more than 400 solar masses. The center, Sagittarius A, is located about 26 000 light years from Earth and contains a supermassive black hole. The other galaxy involved in the future collision is the Andromeda galaxy, or M31. There are about 1 trillion stars and could possibly contain more dark matter than the Milky Way. Its name comes from the constellation of Andromeda, which originated from the mythological princes Andromeda. It is a spiral type galaxy with at least two spiral arms and a diameter of 260 000 light years. The mass of Andromeda is approximately 400 billion solar masses. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. To Kill or Let Die To kill or to let die What would you choose? You are standing on a platform at a train station. An out of control train carriage is coming down the track past the platform, there are three workers repairing the same track further down the line. They don t have time to get out of the way of the carriage, the only way to save them would be to push the very large person next to you down the track, the person s body will act to halt the train thus killing him but saving the three workers. A swift decision has to be made, if I was in this situation I would choose to stand by and watch, letting the three people die, because I believe it s better to be blamed for indirect killing rather than directly have blood on my hands. I would let nature take its course. Good arguments exist for both pushing the person onto the tracks and for not pushing them. The argument for not pushing the large person is from the no harm principle which says that an action is permissible if and only if it does not harm others. Since pushing the person next to me onto the tracks below will kill them, and so harm them, the no harm principle appears to say that the act of pushing them is not permissible. Since the act is not permissible, I should not therefore push them. On the other hand, the argument for pushing comes from the minimize harm principle which says that faced with two courses of action, you should choose that action which minimizes the amount of harm that results. Since pushing the person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. People Are Not Good At Heart Analysis Humanity is hopeless people are destroying themselves. What will be the world in years? People are naturally born evil and selfish. People are evil and selfish it is hard to see it but you can start seeing it sooner or later. Based on the information gathered in module 4 most people are not good at heart because people are naturally selfish and evil. People are born selfish. Mr. VanDaan he goes to the food safe and again lights a match. Then cautiously opens the safe taking out a half loaf of bread (Goodrich and Hackett 341). People want things perfect for themselves. People will push others out of the way to get things they need. Mr. VanDaan saw that Peter s stomach was growling at night yet still Mr. VanDaan took the bread. Despite all the circumstances Mr. Dussel is mad at Anne because he wants to sleep therefore he is scolding her and blaming her. Blaming others or scolding, that people can feel better is a last reason why people are not good at heart. People are not good at heart from all the reasons summarized. People are selfish naturally taking what they need and not what others need. People are naturally evil the genocides show the worst in that no one can let these things happen but they do happen. • 6. Buy Nothing Day Benefits Consumerism is so powerful throughout developed nations, it is nearly impossible for citizens to go a day without buying goods. There are even set days throughout the year in America, such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday, that strongly encourage consumers to buy as much as they can. Many developed countries are starting to notice problems with consumerismand have developed an annual Buy Nothing Day; a day in several countries where citizens are encouraged to not purchase any goods. This is believed to help expose the problems that can stem from the expenditure of even just one day of the year (prompt). Holding an annual Buy Nothing Day is beneficial worldwide as it will save more natural resources and teach kids at a young age how to quit the habit of excessive consuming.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I recently read an article on The New York Times that showed the statistics of the amount of resources the earth provides for the goods consumed by its inhabitants. One example of a shocking statistic was that the U.S. takes up only five percent of the world s population, yet consumes over 30% of the world s natural resources, such as wood. This frightening fact is destructive to the environment as the earth can only provide a limited amount of resources and soon effects of using these resources, such as deforestation, will occur. If nations such as America keep using up resources at this rate, the environment will continue to go downhill. Buy Nothing Day would help downsize this issue by saving a whole day s worth of resources. While the average day does not seem like a lot of time for consumers to use up an excessive amount of resources, the combination of natural material consumed by every country per day can add up to an immense amount. The Great Wave Off Kanagawa Japanese Masterpiece The Great Wave off Kanagawa; a Japanese Masterpiece Almost instantaneously recognizable, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (woodblock, 10 1/8 x 14 15/16 in, c. 1830 32), created by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830, beautifully captures the graceful, swelling movement of a crashing tsunami. Because of the way in which line and proportion are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean. Derived from the Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of works from Hokusai titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the mountain in a wide array of angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawais the most iconic and cherished piece of Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly, Hokusai is considered prominent father figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly displays how tiny and weak man is compared to the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a quintessential piece of art, but it established a piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and politics, that has instilled a tremendous positive impact on the twenty first century. Created solely from the vivid imagination of Hokusai, the primary compositional focus of this simple, but deceptively dynamic print, is the massive deep blue and white wave located in the left foreground of the work. • 10. The Growth Of The Manufacturing And Agriculture Sectors Increased productivity in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors has created a higher level of disposable income in the population, which has led to increased purchases of services. As income rises, the demand for goods tends to rise less rapidly than the demand for services; hence, the importance of services in the economy will rise. The result has been an evolution of the economy from one geared primarily to manufactured goods to an economy engaged in the creation of services. Thus the growth of services has been significant. Changes in the pattern of employment will have implications upon where and how people live, upon educational requirements, and consequently upon the kinds of organizations that will be important to society. Industrialization created the need for semiskilled worker who could be trained in a few weeks to perform the routine tasks attending machines. The service economy has caused a shift to white collar occupations in health, education, and government. For the first time in the history of industrial society, the number of white collar workers (professionals; managers; officials; proprietors, clerical kindred, and sales workers) exceeded the number of blue collar workers (craftsmen and foremen; operatives; and laborers) and the gap is widening. The most interesting growth has been in the managerial and professional technical fields. The coordination of machines and people for the production of goods was central to the industrial society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Should A College Education Be Free We have all been in a group project with an unmotivated person, which causes us to work harder to pick up their slack. No matter how much instruction and guidance we give them, they still will not complete the task. This would be very similar to providing a chance at a free college education, in which that chance at free educationwould be wasted by those who wouldn t follow through. College education shouldn t be free to everyone because it would raise taxes that would burden the working class, and would be taken advantage of by the lethargic people in our society. Therefore causing them to staying in school longer, which will cost taxpayers more money. Looking at it another way, everyone in our society should be able to chase their dreams of going to college, and the more educated our society is the better our economy should become. In a campaign for free college, Wyatt Larkin states his opinion on why college education should be free. Larkin states, Post secondary education ought to be completely free for the exact same reason that elementary and secondary education have long been free because a functioning democracy demands an informed citizenry and because a highly competitive world economy requires that we make the best possible use of our brainpower, our most important natural resource ( Why College Should be Tuition Free 1). • 13. Explain Why The Adult Age Should Be Changed To 16 Why hasn t the adult age been changed to 16 yet? I think the adult age should be changed to 16 because that is when teens start to become responsible. Also it should be 16 because this is the age that teens learn to drive a car. This adulthood age should be changed because this is when, as I said before, teens begin to drive cars. They need to be 100% trustworthy and responsible otherwise lives could be lost. The adult age should be 16 because teens will start to decide if they will be accountable for their decisions. Teens should know they are an adult at this age because if they don t they won t know that they should be responsible on the roads or that they could cause serious damage for others if they crash. By them putting restrictions on the drivers, but not raising the age they believe that the 16 year old drivers can be responsible under restrictions. Many states have begun to raise the age by imposing restrictions on 16 year old drivers. (Robert Davis Pg. 248.) This is important because no matter what restrictions are put on teen drivers, they still need to know how to drive in emergencies or just in everyday life. This proves my claim because people need to give teens a chance before raising the age.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lincoln Savings and the Keating Five was overtaken by the American Continental Corporation. Before Keating became in power, the company was regulated well. Then, when Keating began his reign, he fired all of the current management. Red flag right there. Some were simply outraged and appalled by the continued institution of slavery, and others were former slaves themselves that had wished to end the evil practice of slavery. One such Abolitionist, who is considered in my opinion and the opinion of many others, was Frederick Douglass. This famous former slave had managed to both mentally and physically escape slavery, while also managing to help many others become free by shedding more light on the subject. From his famous autobiographies and Abolitionist work, to his conflict with the segregational Jim Crow laws, Frederick Douglass truly was one of, if not the most important figure in the Abolitionist movement. As a child, Frederick douglass was unable to form an emotional bond with his mother due to the limitations set by slavery, and was both mentally and physically tortured. By the time he had turned into a teenager he had managed to learn how to read and write, and had been under the service of multiple masters overseers, most of which had been cruel and unforgiving. Yet, there was an urge in Frederick Douglass s life that had caused him to fight back, and so he did, and not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The elements in this situation are the Republic of Ireland and the United States of America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and political outlook, social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their business structure. The first factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. In the judicial branch, both countries have a Supreme Court ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). One key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot serve past age 70 , whereas in the United States the judges are appointed for life ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major branches of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two countries. This comparing, and contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary quite significantly in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland s population as of July 2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly 324 million United States population ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). That means the Irish population could be added about 65 times to reach the American population. However, these two nations do have some similarities. Buildings like Sagrada Familia, Guggenheim Museum, Burj Al Arab, and even the White House have attracted my interested toward architecture by bringing me endless awes and wonders. Out of so many famous and recognizable architects who designed marvelous buildings, this special Chinese family attracts extra attention. Maybe a highly skilled architect is honorable, but a loyal architect family who devoted their generations to architecture deserves the respect from all architects. In the following paragraphs, I will describe this family and their work, as well as their importance and contribution to the history of architecture. Yang Shi Lei , meaning the Lei style , was a name for Lei family who worked as royal architects over 200 years of Qing dynasty. In the end of 17th century, like many artisans, Fada Lei came to Beijing and started working to build the palaces for Qing dynasty. • 24. Description Of A Person s Personality Meara Gietl Mrs. Leach English 225 B3 6 December 2014 Word Count: 2371 ESTJ vs. INFJ What is the Difference? A person s personality is his or her essence. It is what guides decisions, emotions, and even thoughts. Some may wonder if it is possible to explore every nuance of such a complex part of a being, but there are ways to determine what type of personality a person has, and then branch off into a more detailed examination of that person specifically. Combined with other factors, such as personality disorders and the environment that someone has grown up in, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI, test and analysis can determine an accurate portrayal of a personality. Created in 1943 by Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers, it is a system made up of four basic functions and sub functions that combine to make a personality type. The mother and daughter team constructed it off of Jung s theories (History 2). Based on this system, one of the most common personality types in the US population is called an ESTJ, and one of the least common personality types is called an INFJ. There are many differences and similarities between these two types. An ESTJ personality, overall, is practical, fact based, and outgoing, whereas an INFJ personality is more private and makes decisions based on feelings; however, both are organized people who make good leaders and are capable of great success in roles that involve helping others. The Russians were immensely unorganized during the war as serious food shortages came into effect as factories were only reducing weapons now, wounded men were left at railway stations in Petrograd without help, and councils took on the role of providing troops with supplies and medicine which dampened their confidence in the Tsar. This doubt was furthered when the Tsar took personal leadership of the war subsequently making him responsible for all the failings during the war in the eyes of the Russians. This is done by locating the sources of behaviors and outcomes of the characteristics and natural tendencies of people. Examples of the variables would be one s perceptions, personality, and preferences. By using these variables, one can analyze the effects those individuals will have on the policies. In the war in Iraq, we can analyze the individual role George W. Bushhad as the President of the United States. Because the President viewed Saddam Hussein as aggressive and dangerous, Bush chose to declare war against them in order to prevent further attacks. George W. Tolerable Face is an example of figurative language. Such a fascination with outward appearance severely limits Sir Walter s prospects of finding another wife or intelligent friends and keeps him ignorant and self centred. Austen clearly uses the theme of appearance versus reality to characterize Anne and Sir Walter. She evidently believes that how a character sees others is a direct reflection of that character s personality. Thus, we know that Anne Elliot possesses true depth of character and sincerity because her superficial family fails to recognize her fine qualities: Anne, with an elegance of mind and sweetness of character, which must have placed her high with any people of real understanding, was nobody with either father or sister: her word had no weight; her convenience was always to give way . In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom explains: the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again, like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. The European Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems are already able to make unbiased decisions. It is all too easy to define culture when a group of people feel as though they are part of the same culture. A bias arises when defining this term, because we consider ourselves to be cultured . We define culture with our own definitions, and we judge it through our own prejudiced eyes. To accurately define culture, we must take ourselves out of the cultural boundaries we have been accustomed to. Of course, this is impossible. One of the most notable dystopian novels, it calls for a reader to conceptualize a world, in which society and science are synonymous with each other, history had faded far into obscurity, and Henry Ford, the creator of the assembly line, becomes a deity to many uniformed individuals. The book was about how humans are no longer created by the conventional means of mating, rather artificially, through the process of separating the ovaries and the sperm cells, and utilizing certain embryos in a biological process called Bokanovskification, the act of stimulating an embryo to undergo a mitotic process in which the end result being that up to 96... As we progress throughout the society s continuous developments, there is reasonable evidence to conclude that Huxley s dystopian novel was his premonitions and envisioning that society would be more centric to our technologies and science, as well as other factors, whilst losing sense of morality. One aspect of the novel that he would portray over our contemporary society is the oversaturation of technology in the story. For example, this could be showcased in this quote: ...appalled by the rushing emptiness of the night...so haggard and distracted among the hastening clouds. (Huxley, p.91). This quote reveals to the reader that being an observer of nature has some stigma connotated towards it. In essence, it is looked down upon, as the quote the succeeded it, one of characters urged to turn on the radio, as it was detracting her from the norms of her society. Another major aspect of technology, as mentioned previously, was cloning in society. There were many experiments performed on the cloned embryos as well as attempting to homologate them to the respective castes. This study was phenomenological in nature and focused on seven individual, veteran, full time students completing their first undergraduate degree at CU Denver. Despite the increased number of student veterans on campus, there remains a continued lack of understanding regarding this section of the student population at colleges across the United States and as I learned, here at CU Denver as well. It is important that campus administrators have a solid understanding of student veterans needs and experiences in order to better assist them while they are here at CU Denver. In my study I concentrated on the actual experiences of seven student veterans attending collegefull time. This method was chosen because of its in depth interviewnature and the focus on participants lived experiences and worldviews. Veterans have detailed life experiences that are often not understood by non veterans so in explaining some of my findings we civilians could have problems relating or understanding. I myself am a photographer so I thought it was fitting to focus on something I am interested in. I chose to research Imogen Cunningham and her contributions to the modern era as a female photographer. I mainly chose Imogen because a lot of her work reminded me of things that I want to attempt to create as well as things that I have photographed. Imogen was born April 12th of 1883 in Portland, Oregon. When she was almost done with high school she had made up her mind that she wanted to be a photographer. She ended up telling her father about it just shortly after she had decided. He thought... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She worked up until the day she died in 1976 at the age of 93. Together they managed to create a new style of photography that went against the then popular aesthetics of pictorial photography. • 44. Unconditional Positive Regard In Psychology Essay Psychology is all about human minds and how people behave. Psychology today are more based on social, lifespan development and personality. There are several parts of psychology, which individuals are more likely to involvement such as, unconditional positive, conformity and personality parenting styles. Unconditional positive regard is in roger s theory that based on the child s sense of being unconditionally loved and valued even if a child, do not conform to the standards and expectation of others. For example, when I was babysitting a child, I was able to disagree of child s specific behavior without completely refusing the child himself. As a babysitter, I said to a child that I love her, nevertheless I cannot do what she like because it is not good behavior. The reason that this is an example of unconditional positive regard it is because the objectifying tendency is fully operational and she makes selections that move her in the way of greater growth and fulfillment of potential. According from Rogers, he believes that it is through consistent knowledge of unconditional positive regard that one develop a psychologically healthy and fully functioning person. Moreover, this was the only way which the child s vital sense of self worth can continue intact. Conformity is the tendency to regulate one s behavior, attitudes, or beliefs to group norms in reply to real or imagined group pressure. Discussion Assess your results: recovery yields (where you may have lost yield), purity from melting points (degree of purity/impurity, what could be the source of impurity). Reaction Equations Part 1. Salt Formation by Acid Base Reaction PHENOLS Phenols are weak organic acids and more soluble in organic solvent than in water. Phenols only react with NaOH (strong inorganic base) to form water soluble ionic salt. Phenols do not react with NaHCO3 (weak inorganic base). [pic] CARBOXYLIC ACIDS Carboxylic acids are strong organic acids, soluble in organic solvent and not soluble in water. Carboxylic acids react with both NaOH (strong inorganic base) and NaHCO3 (weak inorganic base) to form water soluble ionic salt. CO2 gas will be produced when bicarbonate reacts with carboxylic acid. [pic] NEUTRAL COMPOUNDS Neutral compounds do not react with either NaOH or NaHCO3. They are soluble in organic solvent and not soluble in water. Part 2. Recovery of Non Ionic Acids by Acidification The carboxylic acid is recovered from the carboxylate salt dissolved in aqueous solution by acidification. Once protonated, the carboxylic acid becomes non ionic, thus insoluble in water. As a result, the acid precipitates out as a solid. This solid will be recrystallized for purification. The

  • 48. First Sight Is Real In my own opinion I will explain to you if I think love at first sight is real. I believe that love at first glance isn t real because you truly have no idea who that person is. If you like somebody because of their looks, it s from lust or desire, not love. You have to know the person, not just go out and propose to every single, pretty person out there, otherwise it could actually lead to bad decisions and later can harm you. When we were all little we got told to stay away from strangers because they will kidnap us, well now that we are older we just assume we are okay, and safe..but we actually aren t. Ted bundy is a good example of this, Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic by many of his young female victims, traits he exploited to win their trust. He typically approached them in public places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering and assaulting them at more secluded locations.. The victims trusted him, because he was handsome, and well spoken, so they wouldn t of ever thought he was a bad person. Real courage is displayed in the book beowulf. He was a man who would fight with honor and courage. He would even disarm his weapon if his enemy didn t have anything to fight with. He jumped in a lake to fight a giant monster at ...
