Ans. Fundamental parts are the basic parts of a computer. There are four fundamental parts of the
      computer, which are as follows:

Q.1. What are computer devices?

Ans. Computer devices are computer parts. There are two types of devices.

      i. Input devices         ii. Output devices


Q.2. What are input devices?

Ans. Input devices are used to put data into the computer. Three input devices are given below:

      i. Keyboard              ii. Mouse       iii) Microphone

Ans. Output devices are used to show information. Three output devices are given below:

Q.4. What is a keyboard?

Ans. A keyboard is the main input device to operate the computer. There are buttons on the
     keyboard called keys. These keys have letters, numbers and symbols printed on them. We can
     write by pressing these keys.


Q.5. Write down about main keyboard.
Ans. The main keyboard includes the Alphabetic keys, numeric keys, symbol keys and some special
       purpose keys (command keys).



Q.6. How many alphabetic keys are there in the main keyboard?

Ans. There are twenty-six alphabetic keys in the main keyboard, from “A” to “Z”.


Q.7. How many numeric keys are there in the main keyboard?

Ans. There are ten numeric keys in the main keyboard, from “0” to “9”.


Q.8. How many symbol keys are there in the main keyboard?

Ans. There are twenty-one symbol keys in the main keyboard. Some symbol keys are separate and
     some are combined with numeric keys.


Q.9. How many special purpose keys are there in the main keyboard?

Ans. There are eleven special purpose keys (command keys) in the main keyboard. These keys have
      different uses that depends on the software being used.


Q.10. How many function keys are there in the keyboard?

Ans. There are twelve function keys on a keyboard. The function keys are an easy way to give certain
      commands to the computer.


Q.11. What do you know about a cursor?

Ans. Cursor is the indicator (pointing sign) on the screen. Usually it appears arrowhead like on the
      desktop.


Q.12. Where are cursor movement keys located in the keyboard?

Ans. Cursor movement keys are located in between main keyboard and numeric keypad.
Q.13. What is the purpose of cursor movement keys?

Ans. Cursor keys are used to move the cursor around the screen in up, down, left and right
      directions.

Q.14. Where is numeric keypad located in the keyboard?

Ans. Numeric keypad is located on the far right side of the keyboard. This is the second set of
      numeric keys on the keyboard. These keys are used for the quick calculation.

Q.15. How many numeric keys are there in the numeric keypad?

Ans. There are ten numeric keys on the numeric keypad. The total number of keys in the numeric
      keypad are seventeen.

Q.16. What is microphone?

Ans. Microphone is an input device. We can put data into the computer through microphone in the
      form of our voice.

Q.17. Write down about mouse?

Ans. A mouse is an input device. We can select particular object on the monitor screen by clicking
      the mouse. There is arrowhead like sign called cursor. We can select objects on the screen with
      the help of cursor by clicking the mouse on the monitor screen.

Q.18. Write down about monitor.

Ans. A monitor is an output device. It has a TV like screen. We can see information on the screen.

Q.19. What is a printer?

Ans. A printer is an output device. We can get printed information on the paper through printer.

Q.20. How many types of printers are?

Ans. There are two types of printers.

              i) Impact printer.        ii) Non-impact printers.

Q.21. What is a speaker?

Ans. Speaker is an output device. It gives us information in the form of sound.

Q.22. What is a system unit?

Ans. The system unit is a rectangular box. The processing of data is performed in this part of the
     computer. It contains many important components. One of them is (CPU) Central Processing
      Unit.
