Compare And Contrast Essay About Cats
And Dogs
Writing an essay on the topic of comparing and contrasting cats and dogs can be both
challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in the extensive research required to
gather sufficient information about both animals but also in presenting a balanced analysis that
highlights their similarities and differences effectively.
To begin with, one must delve into the characteristics, behaviors, and traits of both cats and dogs
to provide a comprehensive comparison. This necessitates thorough exploration into their
evolutionary backgrounds, domestication history, physical attributes, and typical habits.
Additionally, considering their roles as pets and companions, factors such as trainability,
sociability, and preferred environments also need to be examined.
Moreover, crafting a well-structured essay requires careful organization of ideas and arguments.
A clear introduction setting the stage for the comparison, followed by body paragraphs
delineating specific aspects for comparison like temperament, maintenance, and interaction with
humans, is crucial. Each point must be supported by relevant examples and evidence to
substantiate the analysis.
Furthermore, maintaining objectivity throughout the essay is essential. While it's natural for
individuals to have personal preferences between cats and dogs, the essay should refrain from
biased language or favoritism towards either animal. Instead, it should aim to provide an
impartial evaluation of their respective strengths and weaknesses.
In conclusion, writing a compare and contrast essay about cats and dogs demands meticulous
research, thoughtful analysis, and skilled writing to navigate through the complexities of the
topic. However, with dedication and attention to detail, it's possible to create an informative and
engaging essay that sheds light on the unique characteristics of these beloved pets.

Energy Conservation and What We Can Do
Every household within the United States can make realistic changes to improve the
global energy crisis. Homes in the United States expend a significant amount of
natural gas and electricity. Future generations may experience drastic energy
deficiencies if people around the world do not act now and take the necessary
precautions to reduce energy consumption. Family homes consume roughly thirty
eight percent of the total energy consumption per year, which leads problems like
global warming. It is vital, now more than ever, that individuals comprehend how we
deplete energy in a domestic home and what he or she can do to prevent excessive
energy consumption. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind; there are several other means in which an individual can aid this
decrease in energy consumption. The most collective way is to utilize a furnace. Of
course, one can always use a fireplace, stove, electric resistance heater, or electrically
powered heat pump to warm up the household. Generally, furnaces operate via natural
gas and result in approximately sixty to ninety percent efficiency. Shockingly,
electrical resistant heaters prove to be almost one hundred percent efficient when it
comes to heat production. Unfortunately, this value is not all that accurate in the end
game scheme of things. These heaters consume a vast amount of energy in order to
heat one s home. An individual needs to inspect the efficiency of a heating element
and the amount of energy consumption necessary for operation when considering a
new means to produce household warmth. In fact, electricity is more costly than
natural gas to generate, making electric resistance heaters pricier to maintain. This
energy demand must be included in the total cost of electric resistance heating.
An alternative method to heat one s home, and perhaps my favorite after living in
Chico, is to do so via a fireplace. Yes, a fireplace. A fireplace eliminates the
consumption of natural gas. Instead, the burning of wood fuels a fireplace.
Unfortunately, fireplaces do not prove to be an effective solution for society s
environmental problem. The burning of wood produces
Chipotle Mexican Grill ( Cmg )
Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1993. It began
when American s were visiting fast food chains on a much more regular basis than
in years past. Places like McDonald s, Burger King, and Taco Bell initially seemed
to be competition for Chipotle. However, a recent shift towards healthy eating,
organic produce, and grass fed meats has shifted the favor towards Chipotle. At the
end of 2015, Chipotle Mexican Grillowned and operated 1,971 locations in the
United States alone. CMG also owns and operates thirteen ShopHouse Southeast
Asia chains along with being an investor in three Pizzeria Locale restaurants. Steve
Ells and Montgomery Moran are the CEO s of Chipotle, and together make over $2
million from the company. The executive team is rounded out with five other
executive officers who make up the development, finance, marketing, and director
positions. Chipotle has approximately 5,100 employees, and together the company
brought in around $475,602,000 in net income as of the end of 2015. In January of
2016, Chipotle reported that their number of shareholders had reached 1,030. The
shares are traded on the New York StockExchange, and currently the company does
not give any dividends to its shareholders. Between September of 2015 and March of
2016, Chipotle faced public scrutiny and in relation to that its stock continually
fluctuated. Certain key events led to Chipotle s stock reaching high points, however

The, A Modern Classic By Diane Samuels
How does Samuel present strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga s relationship?
Kindertransport, a modern classic by Diane Samuels, cleverly illustrates the
mechanisms of a mother/daughter relationship alongside themes of post modernism,
feminism and identity. Nine months before the outbreak of WWII, 10 000
unaccompanied Jewish children were sent to England as a precautionary measure due
to the Kristallnacht. One of them was Eva, daughter of Helga, sent unwillingly
because of her mother s wishes to keep her alive. Presently, Evelyn is sending her
daughter to college. Old memories resurface as Evelyn is forced to confront her
childhood as Eva.
Throughout this play, Samuels presents strong feelings in Helga and Evelyn s
relationship such as loss, betrayal and guilt.
Samuels presents strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga s relationship through the
idea of post modernism, particularly in Act 1 Scene 2. She shows that Evelyn wants
to believe Helga never existed and has locked away her past in the attic, long
forgotten. When interrogated about her childhood, she bluntly replies: I certainly
have (forgotten). Through her straight forward reply Samuels shows that Evelyn
believes everything that Helga once represented her religion, beliefs and identity
were an image drawn by everyone and everything around her. Evelyn explicitly tells
her daughter I have never lied to you regarding her past. She is saying that she was
never Jewish nor German. Evelyn could be implying that identity
Theseus As A Hero
Myths contain many legendary heroes within, but what makes them different from
an ordinary person? Many conveys that it is not very challenging to be a hero, but
wise ones know the struggles of being a hero, which the texts Theseus and The
Adventure of Odysseus , written in the book Mythology by Edith Hamilton proves.
Heroes may require the help from others, but more often than not, they are fearless
fighters who do not need the aid of others to be successful. Heroes might easily
gain credits for the work of their fellow allies, but that does not mean it is easy to be
a hero. A true hero should not be afraid of pain or death just like the great legend
Theseus. At the same time, these heroes must be like the extraordinary hero
Odysseus, who was successful in his heroic journey. Heros need sidekicks, whom
they rely on for multiple things, but end up with all the credit; just like how Theseus
obtains all the glory for Ariadne s thinking and how Odysseus attains almost all the
credits for Athena s work. Ariadne tells Theseus the way to get out of the Labyrinth
where the Minotaur stays. She would bring about the escape if he would promise
to take her back to Athens and marry her ( Theseus Hamilton 207). The only reason
Theseus was able to slaughter the Minotaur and escape the maze was because of
Ariadne. Theseus leaves Ariadne to die on an island. Even if she dies because of a
disease, he should have at least inform the people of Athens that she was a huge
reason for
The J.B. by Archibald MacLeish Argues Why God Allows
Evil...
If God is powerful and loving the humankind, then why does He permit evil as well
as suffering in this world? Various answers had been offered by many Christian
philosophers and many victims of suffering, but there was not a lucid answer that
could settle this argument permanently. God uses malicious acts of this world to rise
up His own people and remind them that there is an opportunity that they can posses
their eternal life. Literature, especially biblical literature has exploited this biblical
nature to its fullest in various types of forms, including the play J.B. by Archibald
MacLeish. In the play J.B, Archibald MacLeish reanimates and modernizes elements
taken from the story of Job to come up with his own response to the ultimate... Show

Sarah once asked her children on a Thanksgiving Day, Has anyone of you thanked
God? Really thanked Him? (29). At first, Sarah fearfully respects God, because she
already knows that her prosperity that she has today is going to be taken by God
eventually. Sarah s true temperament is not truly revealed after the death of her
five children. Has death no meaning? Pain no meaning? , Sarah questioned J.B
(109). Sarah is bitter and angry at God, because she does not expect God to take
away her loved ones that fast. She even becomes more depressed and hopeless
when J.B is still faithful to God at this point. At the end of Scene Eight when Mrs.
Murphy said, And he s alone now , implying the leaving of Sarah for her own good.
Sarah is an example of fake piety that is fallen after an astonishing punishment. Just
like the story of Job where god takes away Job s animals and family, J.B s five
children are now gone along with his job as a banker. Fortunately, J.B still stays
strong despite the fact that his family is corrupting, because he believes that God
will show him his guilt as one of God s puppet so he can be released from the prison
of anxiety.
All sufferings need to be comforted just like a wild fire that needs to be
extinguished. Therefore, in the story of Job, the Three Comforters come to Job and
comforted him hoping that he would get a better sense
The Lie Of Bushido And The Hidden Blade
The Lie of Bushido in The Hidden Blade Two samurai face each other, both bound by
a code of honor to fight to the death. This code is Bushido the ancient honor system
of the samurai. It emphasized eight important virtues that all samurai must live by.
These virtues include Rectitude, courage, benevolence, politeness, honesty, honor,
loyalty, and character. Any failure to follow these virtues resulted in the need to
commit seppuku or Hara kiri, which was honorable suicide. The Hidden Blade
demonstrates the cultural influences of Bushido on feudal samurai. However, Bushido
is only an idealized translation of the ideals of the samurai. The popular
understanding of the Bushido code that was, in fact, an idealization of the samurai
class not codified until the samurai era ended. The Hidden Blade demonstrates the
supposed cultural influence of Bushido through the story of Katagiri. Katagiri is a
samurai who is in love with Kie, the maid of his house. They are both from different
classes and because of this they Hartt 2 cannot marry. Since she cannot marry
Katagiri, Kie marries into a merchant family who treats her horrendously. Through
such mistreatment, Kie becomes deathly ill and Katagiri must save her. Storming into
the merchant s home, Katagiri takes Kie and demands that her husband divorces her.

Abstract
Purpose This study aims to explore the potential dimensions of service quality, and
examine the relationship among service quality, food quality, perceived value,
customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions in fast food restaurants (FFRs).

Specifically, another potential dimension, recovery, is incorporated into the
SERVPERF instrument. After establishing sufficient reliability and validity of this
instrument, we proceed with the second objective to examine the relationship among
service quality, food quality, perceived value, customer satisfaction, and behavioral
intentions. The organization of this paper includes another п¬Ѓve sections. The
theoretical foundation of perceived service quality and its dimensions are reviewed in
the next section, followed by the research methodology including the development of
the instrument. Then, the data analysis and п¬Ѓndings of this study are presented,
followed by the conclusions and managerial implications. The paper concludes with a
section on the limitations of this work and potential future research. 2. Theoretical
foundation The importance of service quality is substantially addressed in the fast
food management literature. Superior service leads to satisfied and loyal
customers whose continued patronage is essential to the success of FFRs.
Conversely, poor service quality increases customer dissatisfaction and the likelihood
that customers dine at a competitor s FFR and/or become an active champion in
persuading others to go elsewhere (Gilbert et al., 2004). Hence, it is crucial for
service managers to understand how customers perceive the service they provide, and
what components might determine

results in death or survival with no disabilities so there are no other methods of
prevention to discuss.
The primary issue with EVD is that the locations in which this disease usually
appears is not prepped for the rapid treatment and management of many of these
cases. The patients are hypovolemic, vomiting, require constant aid to prevent hyper
perfusion of the organs and all the while require PPE (Bah et al., 2015). Not only is
this strenuous on any health care personnel, it requires intense staffing, education,
and proper screening methods that will target and isolate cases as they appear. The
most important intervention here for survival is rehydration using anti emetics, IV
fluids and anti diarrheal medications (Bah et al., 2015). ... Show more content on

The mode of transmission is either wild animal contact with humans or human to
human contact (Gidado et al., 2015). In the second cornerstone of this model, the
host, there are two facets to discuss. The non human host is primarily the
Pteropodidae fruit bat, which is a natural EVD host (WHO, 2017). It was found that
the process of bringing fruit bats back to eat may have exposed humans to the virus in
the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Leroy et al., 2015). The host that can resist
the disease more with humoral and cell mediated responses earlier on has a higher
chance for survival (Lee et al., 2008).
The third and final cornerstone of the model highlights the agent s environment that
allows it to survive. While on dry surfaces, Ebolavirus has been known to only
survive for a couple of hours, there are bodily fluids like saliva, breastmilk, stool,
and tears that can maintain the survival for days (Bausch, 2007). One of the most
prevalent forms of transmission is through semen and other sexually transmitted
fluids. There was ebolavirus found in some cases of semen up to 90 days after onset
of the disease (Bausch, 2007). Sexually transmitted fluids and blood accounted for in
direct contact is primarily the method by which the ebolavirus can survive and
essentially procreate and spread (Bausch, 2007). Other environmental factors
incorporate the fruit bat population; having an influx or
Night Dehumanization
The memoir Night written by Elie Wiesel s, uncovers the monstrous acts inflicted
upon the Jews, by the Nazi party. Throughout The years, Jews were acquainted or
witnessed death and suffering through every perspective. Some were able to survive
while others met a slow painful death. In the precise memoir Night, The Nazi soldiers
were unfortunately successful in exterminating Jewsin large number due to their
prominent tactic of death humanization. Dehumanization is by far, the worst
technique of executing a human being. I gaped and cringed when analyzing the
complications young Eliezer and his father had to endure and sustain. The process of
dehumanization is one that unravels a mind and breaks a human being down to a
pulp physically,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliezer while being detained at the camp endured disturbing strategies used by the
Nazis such as Death Marches, unrelenting Jobs , starvation, the occasional
whoopings. The narrator in the story often received blows from the Kapos. As
mentioned in the memoir, The Kapos were beating us again, but I no longer felt
the pain ( Wiesel 36).Normally the effect of a beating would have erupted
emotions in Eliezer but the physical dehumanization that re occurs in the camp
allows Eliezer to become numb to the pain, and this speaks to many other campers
inside of the camp. On top of this, alongside the brutal beatings was the starvation
that stretched a great length in time. In the memoi, the campers were fed miniscule
portions of soup, bread and water and had minimal sleep and were forced to run
hard long hours in any type of weather . I m used to eating 3 meals a day regularly
while Eliezer and the other concentration campers were lucky if they even had one.
This reminds me how much I take for granted.I can give complete props to Eliezer
because I could not withstand half the blows the narrator received, ru half the amount
of miles he runs or be starved for that duration of time, and I truthfully wonder
wonder his body was
The Origin And Discoveries Of Electricity And Magnetism
This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It
is solely a summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything
about our way of life and has ushered us into a remarkable new age.
Firstly and most importantly, it is about the underlying idea of how magnetism and
electricity have come about, also it outlines and maps out the development and
discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and the latter
discoveries of mega production.
When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When
rain comes, I sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear
the sound of a spark which is like two short circuited power cables.
At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and
every atom has a nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal
number of protons and neutrons. The electrons revolve round the nucleus of the
atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively charged particles, neutrons are
neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is surrounded by
shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of
orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the
outer most orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order
to create a more stable configuration.

Patient Safety
Patient Safety As we all know, patient safety in a healthcare setting is extremely
important and is to be taken very seriously. This is a very challenging topic with
any healthcare establishment, because people do make errors and it s only human.
It is everybody s job within the facility, hospital, or any healthcare setting to work
on making sure that the safety of every patient that enters and leaves their building
is safe. We want patients to feel safe and confident when they have to go to the
hospital for a procedure, or even to a skilled nursing facility to have rehabilitation or
to eventually stay long term. Not only is it the prospective patients that we have to
take care of and maintain their safety while they are in our hands ,... Show more

This is very scary for many people. Nobody wants to go to the hospital go get better
and then end up with another type of infection. Once again you see this topic a lot
in the news, such as the super bug and the MRSA . Yes, these are all infections and
most of them do occur in a healthcare setting. They can be very expensive as well to
cure because the antibiotics are so expensive. Really the only way to take control
of the spreading of infection is to really have good education from a physician or a
nurse. But, once again it is something that you an acquire within the healthcare
setting, so you have to make sure that the employees that are working there have
the proper training of infection control and they know the proper steps in
maintaining the spread of infection. If you are a patient and someone walks into
your room to give you medication, take your blood pressure, of assist you in
anyway, make sure that they have washed their hands and that they have gloves on.
In a healthcare setting it is their job to treat everyone as though they have something
and they should be taking proper precautions no matter what. A lot of the reason
that infections occur in a hospital or nursing facility is because staff members are
extremely busy and they are going from room to room to answer bells and take care
of their patients, and they don t always think to stop and wash their hands. Just try to
remind them to wash their hands in order to keep yourself
An Interview For The Paris
When asked about the inspiration for his work in an interview for The Paris
Review in 1981, Carlos Fuentes replied, ...my books are derived from city images,
and the city of my dreams or nightmares is Mexico City.
MEXICO CITY the city ranked number one and described as the metropolis that has
it all in New York Times annual travel listicle, 52 Places to Go in 2016 is after all, a
city with long and layered history tracing back to the 13th century. Founded as
Tenochtitlan, it quickly rose to become the heart of Aztec civilization, and was in its
era, one of the largest cities in the world. At its height, its population was estimated to
be around 150, 000, with another 350,000 people in the urban network clustered
around it. (Mundy 2015) Fast forward to 2016, Mexico City (Distrito Federal; or
more recently renamed as CDMX, Ciudad de Mexico) (The Guardian 2016) has an
estimated population of 8,919,653, (World Population Review) and an even larger
population of 20.2 million people (Demografia 2012) with its metropolitan area
included, making it one of most populous metropolitan area in the world. Mexico
City, with all its fascinating contradictions the order and the chaos, locally lived but
globally organized, networked yet fragmented is the embodiment of the context in
which planners practice today. Issues such as equity (housing), congestion
(transportation), environment (water management) that need to be addressed in
Mexico City are the same problems that have
Analysis Of Proslogion By Anselm
Anselm, in his work Proslogion , attempts to answer the question Does God exist in
reality? based on the reason and understanding, temporary excluding faith for the sake
of argument. Anselm s ontological argument widely reflects the main themes of
medieval philosophy of religion, which are compatibility between the divine
attributes and theism in opposition to skepticism and naturalistic schemes. Arguing
for the monotheism, in other words, existenceof the single God, the author actually
assumes him to possess all the divine attributes. From here, one may already conclude
that Anselm, calling God something than which nothing greater can be thought ,
might unite divine attributes in one image and therefore assert the possibility of
coexistence

Ўzquez and Pablo Picasso both created a work of art
called Las Meninas. VelГЎzquez created this painting for the royal family of Spain.
Picasso created 58 interpretations of Las Meninas, but each in their own unique way.
He may have borrowed VelГЎzquez s idea, but he created his own, very original,
works of art around that idea. Now, the 58 pieces stand in a museum in Spain,
where they are displayed to be gazed upon and to be appreciated by other citizens of
Spain. VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas is now in Museo del Prado, in Madrid,
Spain.VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas and Picasso s Versions of Las Meninas have quite
a few similarities. For starters, in both paintings there is the little princess in the
middle of a room. She is also wearing the same outfit in each painting, even though
Picasso s version looks a little more like a block. In both of the pictures, the little
princess is taking what looks like a cup from one of her ladies in waiting that is
handing it to her on a golden tray. If you look closely at VelГЎzquez s painting, you
can see that the cup in the princess hand has a hint of red color, and Picasso s also
added a bit of orange color to the cup in his painting. In both pieces, you can see
that the room that the little princess stands in is dark, with different shades of dark
colors, like gray, black, and a lighter gray. There are few differences between the two
Las Meninas paintings. Here s a few of them. One is
Negative Stereotypical Gender Roles in Twilight Essay

Thus, he led her to his tomb and asked her to get in; however, she refused and ran
away from him. She ran into a house with a light, but the house had another vampire
who wanted to kill her; however, she escaped from the vampire because her soul was
clean and holy which saved her (Murgoci 340). The author of Twilightalso overlaps
the idea of traditional expectations for woman, so Bella is portrayed as a pure
young girl. For example, Edward is a dangerous vampire: a killer in the past and
can read people s mind, but he cannot read Bella s mind because she is pure. This
makes him interested in her in the first time he meets her, and he becomes her
protector. Historical vampire stories are related to stereotypical gender roles to teach
virtue to girls. Besides that, contemporary vampires are connected to the world
today in order to embrace stereotypical gender roles. Vampires are supernatural
strong, while humans are weak. This idea is shown in Twilight through the
vampire, Edward, who carries all positive characteristics of an ideal traditional
man even though his appearance looks the same as a modern man. He is fast,
strong, brave, aggressive and protective. He saves his girl friend, Bella several times.
For example, when Bella s friend accidentally drove the car toward her, Edward
moved very fast to her and pushed against the

chapters of the story are told out of order. This narrative device is effective because
it gives the audience a sense of equilibrium. They are able to see the character alive

Masculinity In Macbeth
Too much man is bad for a Man
Gender roles are a highly disputed section of society. Men specifically must be
masculine, or portray attributes accepted by society as masculine. When masculinity
is challenged it can lead to a man making atrocious decision to affirm his masculinity
in the eyes of his peers. William Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, demonstrates the
dangers of masculinity. In the play Macbeth has the ambition, but lacks the
confidence and motivation to become King of Scotland. While struggling with
conscious his wife, Lady Macbeth challenges his masculinity.
Throughout the play masculinity is challenged as a way to motivate men to commit
horrible crimes. For instance, when Macbeth confides to Lady Macbeth that he no
longer wishes to kill King Duncan, Lady Macbeth denounces his masculinity,
shouting What beast was t, then,/That made you break this enterprise to me?/When
you durst do it, then you were a man (I.VII.53).Lady Macbeth s denouncing of

Someone who is the star point guard or varsity quarterback is considered to be
highly masculine due to their athletic supremacy and high profile position.
However, someone who is skinny and very smart would be viewed as less
masculine because of their physical attributes and likes/dislikes. But when that
masculinity is challenged, especially that of someone with ambition such as
quarterback who wishes to become a professional, it can lead to irrational
decisions. For a quarterback it could be taking steroids to become stronger, or
completely neglecting school work to practice. Not only are steroids illegal, they
are dangerous for your physical well being and neglecting schoolwork could lead to
ineligibility. Masculinity is as dangerous as having too much power. It ll go to your

2. La PersuasiГіn:

Film Analysis Of Blade Runner
EDITED VERSION
Blade Runner
Ridley Scott directed Blade Runner (1982) after his latest hit Alien (1979) This is
the start of major fame and recognition in his career and he is still cementing his
unique vision onto the industry. The Film is located in a dark futuristic city yet
vibrant with neon lights and crowds of people but this world has lots of backstory
with off world colonies and advanced technology. The film is loosely based on a
novel called Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968) By Philip K. Dick both
having the same plot and sharing the same world. Blade Runner has a dark futuristic
city vibe yet vibrant with neon lights and crowds of people. The way Scott makes
us move through the city in a bird s eye view at odd angles when moving to a new
location draws a sense of awe seeing these massive structures and this endless
sprawling city in its midst. Camera work is used to make you feel claustrophobic in
this packed tight city. The set was almost entirely filmed indoors making this movie
very dark, with an ambient controlled environment.
The creative process that went into this movie is astounding! Huge model pieces
were put to together to show off the megastructures in 2019 Los Angeles. Almost
every set piece serves a purpose in convincing this forced reality upon you. It s one
thing to see the world of Blade Runner and another to hear the great work of music
the film has. An exquisite masterpiece, composer Vangelis has crafted. Blending very

Same Sex Marriage And Civil Rights For Same-Sex
Marriage
Same sex Marriage is a question that comes across my path on a consistent basis.
The agency where I work advocates this practice, which requires yearly training
videos to ensure everyone understands the rules of the practice. Although our society
bends the laws to support this practice, I will argue that government laws do not
hold true to God s law or even the law of nature. Additionally, I will argue that
marriage, by natural law, is designed for procreating purposes.
When someone thinks of marriage, it is two people, man, and woman, that have
fallen in love, went through the ceremony, have children, and the circle of life
begins. Marriage has a specific orientation to having children. The first of Augustine s
three goods of marriage children would be inapplicable to covenant partnerships: the
second and third goods faithfulness and the bond of permanence would very much
apply. But marriage has been re ordered by the resurrection of Christ, shares Thatcher.
In contrast, the argument for same sex marriage is that it is just like civil rights of
that African Americans. The civil rights movement and civil rights for African
Americans are nowhere near the same or in comparison to a social agenda pushed
by those for same sex marriages. According to History.com, shares a portion of the
struggle for civil rights for African Americans:

men without property have not always been
Summary Of Arm Wrestling With My Father By Brad
Manning
In Arm Wrestling with my Father by Brad Manning uses: symbolism, tone, and
imagery throughout his story. What Manning s Story is about is Manning and his
father s tough love bond they share. The story shows us on how Manning s father
shows his affection towards his son, and its not by expressing them verbally or giving
him affection, and attention like his motherwould. He would only show him that he
loved him through helping him in sports and arm wrestling. Throughout the story
when Manning gets older his father is at an old age where Manning can beat him.
Manning let s his father win because he felt sorry for his father and as Manning said
his arms were the ones that protected them (Manning 124). Manning knew further on

Manning described it so well I could clearly picture it in my head when Manning
said I d shout, and it would start. And I would tense up, concentrating and strainging
and trying to push his wrist down to the carpet with all my weight and strength. But
Dad would always win; I always had to lose (Manning 121). Manning would be
upset but the word choice Manning uses for this section of the story is great imagery.
Another reason Manning didn t beat his father was that he was getting to an age
where he isn t as strong as he use to be. Manning describes his father s arm at first
when Manning was a strong tree branch but since he came back from school
during winter break he said his arm looks aged (para7). Another great example
Manning uses for imagery. The theme of Arm Wrestling with my father how
Manning father gradually changes his method of affection he displays towards his
son once Manning is older. In the beginning of the story Manning tells us how his
father did not show any attention on the other achievements his son made in school
like orchestra or his writing, only in sports. For example, as Manning said It was
not because he wasn t proud of Manning, it was probably because he just wanted his
son to be tough and strong like him or better. Manning s father did love Manning, but
it was very difficult for him to show his son he
Akeelah Character Analysis
Akeelah works hard to achieve her personal legend and her whole world conspires
to help make that happen. There are many points in the movie that showcases her
stepping towards her legend without her knowing she is. The first point that I
noticed was her seeing a spelling bee T.V. show while there was a spelling bee
going
on at her school. Those are omens, small hints in her life that made her think about
what she wants to do or what her personal legend is. As she was watching the show,
she heard a word which was called brunneous, and she didn t know what meant.
Each new word she listens or learns, she wrote it down in her diary and tried to
memorize them. She had a natural talent for doing so. Expanding her vocabulary
which was practice for the spellingbee, but she didn t know that then. Akeelah hits a
wall where Dr. Larabee kicked her out due to her disrespect and attitude. Her being
kicked out made her furious, she wanted to prove to Dr. Larabee that she didn t
need his assistance to help her win the provincial spelling bee. This was the first
step Akeelah took by herself towards her personal legend and also knowing why
she was doing it. During the provincial spelling bee, Akeelah got a word wrong due
to the lack of coaching, but her whole world wanted her to make top 10 to get to
nationals. Her sister Kiana catches the last boy s mother telling him the spelling, and
he got disqualified. This omen gets her in the top 10 spots. It didn t happen by
accident, the boy got
Transition In Willy Russell s Educating Rita
Transitioning into the new world may allow the individual to face new
experiences that may become obstacles or barriers they must overcome before
being able to transition. During this transition, individuals may also gain a new
sense of self and others. Willy Russell s play, Educating Rita explores obstacles as
Rita transitions from an uneducated class to the educated and how it impacts her
life as a woman as she is forced to be someone she does not want to be (the role of
women). Another text that explores transition is a story by Gill Hickson, Identity in

belongs to ties her down and the fact that Rita does not have the knowledge to be

the initial stages of Rita s transitioning, obstacles stopped her from moving forward

The ceremonies have influenced all forms of Japanese art (such as garden design
and flower arrangements), and has become a social custom to Japanese people (Tea).
This way of life is still prevalent in Japanese culture today (especially among the
older generations).
Along the lines of Japan s long history of tea, the first signs of these exports
appeared in 1610 by the Dutch East India Company, when a shipment of Japanese
tea was sent to Europe (Ito En). Later in 1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the
United States, then to countries like the UK, Russia, and France. This marked the
time in which tea became one of Japan s main exports. Afterwards the export of tea
expanded due to the support of the Japanese government, with their main focus on the
United States as an export partner. These countries, along with many others
nowadays, are still huge tea trading partners with Japan. They contribute a good
portion to Japan s tea market; the main attraction to Japanese tea has to do with their
cultural practices attributed to earlier uses of tea and ceremonies in Japan.
Japan has faced major issues regarding natural disasters over the years. These
disasters can greatly attribute to the downfall of the Japanese Tea market. The most
famously known occurrence appeared in 2011, when Japan had a triple disaster
(earthquake, tsunami, and then followed by the nuclear disaster). This disaster

How Your Local Restaurant Doesn t Charge
Your local restaurant doesn t charge you a fixed price and tell you to gorge yourself
on whatever comes out of the kitchen. Most restaurants operate on an Г la carte
basis, allowing diners to choose foods they like from the menu and eat only what

Minimum weight design of a wing box subjected to bending
Abstract:
Aircraft wing is one of the best examples of an efficient structural design. A variety
of structural arrangements are possible to satisfy design goals. The endeavour is
always to arrive at a minimum weight of a wing structure for a given set of design
conditions.
The main load carrying structure of a wing is the torsion box formed by front spar,
rear spar, and top spar amp; bottom skins. In the preliminary design stages an effect
is made to arrive at an efficient design of this box structure. The load carrying
capacity of this box structure is largely controlled by the buckling of the
compression cover plate. In order to get a minimum weight design of such a box the

The first approach requires a thorough understanding of the buckling phenomenon.
The top cover of a wing box beam is a long and wide plate. For all practical purposes
it will buckle as a wide column where the critical buckling stress is given by the
Euler s buckling formula
This will be an unacceptably low value. In order to increase the buckling stress, ribs
are employed with provide lateral support to the compression cover plate along their
lines of attachment.
Various possible buckling modes can occur which are briefly discussed below
If the flexural rigidity of the tension cover is very low, the box can buckle as a whole.
If the tension cove is flexural very stiff and the ribs are very weak then the buckling
pattern will be as shown here
As the deflection stiffness of the ribs increase the buckling pattern changes forming
more than one half sine waves over the length of the box as shown in the next figure
Here the ribs are represented as deflectional springs and the buckled wave form is
very much exaggerated. The idea here is that the ribs are not stiff enough to provide
nodes at their location. This is illustrated in the next figure
The ribs are just stiff enough to enforce nodes along their lines of attachment with the
skin. The effective length of buckling = rib spacing and the buckling stress

Many events in the world have been documented in our history books, but sometimes

the ones that are never forgotten. Neither should the groups and countries that

that the greatest threat to Hitler s regime was not necessarily violence or deception,

eventually, the Germans transported large numbers of people from the ghetto into

The commercial was a parody of the book 1984. The commercial showed a young
athletic woman wearing bright red jogging shorts running toward a giant screen.
The screen portrayed a man dictating to hundreds of skinheads, and the girl ran up
to the screen and broke it with a baseball bat. The symbolism in this commercial
was the main reason it was a pivotal portrayal of Apple in the media. The
symbolism of the giant man on the screen represented IBM, and the thousands of
skinheads were mindless consumers. Apple was the young athletic woman who
broke the screen and freed the thousands of skinheads from a life of monotony with
PCs. This new commercial broke all the rules, and the reaction has been, in a word,
unprecedented, as stated by Steve Hayden in the San Francisco Chronicle, 1984.
This commercial was one of the most significant pieces of advertisement that
Apple could show, because it explained their philosophy in one fell swoop. This
commercial informed the public about what Apple really stood for rebellion. The

David Lockyer s War Limericks
War it isn t desired by anyone. If we can, we try to avoid it as much as possible. But
there are times when war can t be avoided. This fighting ultimately leads to thousands
of innocent lives lost men, women and children. We grieve their deaths, we mourn
their deaths and we feel saddened by their deaths. Poetrycan help alleviate this
saddened feeling. It can help us to feel happier in times of great depression and
stress. Some poems however strike the heart of warand the horrors related to it. The
poets can express their points of view on war, conscriptions or the propagandas in a
dark manner and create a gloomy atmosphere. One of these poems is part of David
Lockyer s War Limericks. As the title suggests, this poem is a limerick with sound
and visual language used to boost the poems meaning.

In the poem, Lockyer is expressing the success of the B 17 bomber in World War II.
The bomber was a relatively large airframe measuring in at a wingspan of 32 metres
and an overall length of 21 metres. Because of this, he compares the B 17 to a castle,
saying it was a castle in the air. He also calls the B 17 a flying fortress. This name
again gives us a visual image of just how large this bomber was.
Speaking of a flying fortress, this is one example of sound language that Lockyer
has used. It is a form of alliteration and helps to flow the poem. It helps to emphasise
the idea of the B 17 being a castle in the sky. Alliteration also adds to the rhythm of a
poem and in a limerick this is all the more important. Because this poem is a limerick,
it contains an AABBA rhyme and rhythm pattern. Rhyme and rhythm in a poem are
important because they provide the heartbeat of the poem to which it can flow

Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And Tom Buchanan
Nick Carraway and Tom Buchanan had some similarities and differences . They
are both liars, they lie about many things. Gatsby lied about who he really is and
Tom lies to get out of things. They both are living a fake life, a double life. Gatsby
was pretending he came from a wealthy family when in reality his family is dirt
poor. Tom was having an affairwith another woman who does not come from the
same social class as him and had an apartment with her in New York. The
apartment was a place where they both can get away from their other life.
Although, they both are very wealthy and had a lot of money, they come from
different social class. Tom was born rich so he did not work for his money and

Gatsby met Daisy before she even knew Tom, but because he was poor he could not
have her. He was gone for five years yet he still loved her and was still loyal to her.
He bought a house right across the bay from Daisy s house and threw so many big
parties because he was hoping it would catch her attention. Once in awhile I go off
on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always come back, and in my heart I love
her all the time. (Fitzgerald 131) Tom admitted that he toys with a lot of women, but
at the end of the day he always comes back to Daisy. I think the reason why Tom
cheated on Daisy because he wanted to to feel needed. Daisy never really wanted to
marry Tom and was not interested in him. She did marry him because he had
money, but Daisy was also very wealthy, so she did not need him or his money to
make her happy. She will do just fine on her own if she left him. Maybe he just
wanted someone to need him and make him feel wanted so that is why he cheated
on her. Myrtle was poor trying to be in the wealthy class and being with Tom lets
her feel like she is apart of the wealthy class because whatever she wants, Tom gets
it for her. One example, is the dog. I want to get one of those dogs, she said
earnestly. I want to get one for the apartment. They are nice to have a dog. (
Fitzgerald 27 ) Myrtle wanted a dog for the apartment and Tom bought it for her
without even questioning it. She did not even know how to properly take care of
it. She just wanted the dog just so she can spend Tom s money. Although it may
not seem like Tom actually loved Daisy. When he found out that Daisy was going to
Gatsby s parties, he followed her to Gatsby s to keep an eye on her. He even had a
background check on Gatsby to see who he really was because he felt threatened by
Identical Twins And How The Epigenomes Can Be Affected
By...
I feel stress is something that can overtake a person when an event or problem
happens in their life that becomes difficult for them to handle. However according to
Soomo (2014. Chapter one) we learned about the epigenetics of identical twins and
how the epigenomes can become affected by environment, health and even stress.
These things do change the epigenomes they just trigger signals that turn the
epigenomes on and off, which in much later years of life can make identical twins
become quite different from each other. According to Soomo (2014. chapter two) we
learned about the sympathetic system and how if something alarms you like stress
your sympathetic system will increase your heart rate, high pressure, raise your
blood sugar (Soomo, 2014) Even prolong effect of stress can cause brain changes that
may lend to anxiety, depression, and even addiction (Harvard Health Publishing,
2011). It also works together with the parasympathetic nervous system when stress
lessens to create an opposite effect (Soomo,2014).
Stress can also play a part in our intelligence. According to Soomo, (2014 chapter
three) when someone who has high general intelligence has suffered from brain
damage due to a tumor, their emotional intelligence can diminish. In Neuroscientist
Antonio Damasio (1994) case of Elliott a successful businessman, he showed no
emotion and no response to others feeling after the brain damage which, lead to job
lost, bankruptcy, failed marriages, placed in the care of
An Unpleasant Emotional Experience Of Anxiety, Fear,
And...
Burger (2015) defines anxiety as an unpleasant emotional experience where you
have feelings of worry, panic, fear, and dread . Burger (2015) proposes Sigmund
Freud s three categories of anxiety. The first he proposes is reality anxiety, or
objective anxiety, which is usually experienced when someone feels threatened in the
real world (Burger, 2015). The next anxietyhe suggests is neurotic anxiety. Neurotic
anxiety is experienced when unwanted id impluses are extremely close to breaking
into consciousness (Burger, 2o15). Neurotic anxiety is the type of anxiety that leads
to defense mechanisms. The last type of anxiety discussed is moral anxiety. Moral
anxiety is brought about from the superego in reply to id impluses that disrupt the
superego s moral conduct (Burger, 2015). Moral anxiety is often experienced as guilt.
People often handle anxiety differently. Defense mechanisms are the unconscious
processes that are used when handling anxiety. Coping strategies are conscious
efforts of handling anxiety. There are endless amount of coping strategies. For
example, if you had a bad day at work you may indulge in some of your favorite
candy to help you cope. Burger (2015) suggests three different types of coping
strategies: problem focused, emotion focused, and avoidance strategies. Problem
focused strategies are considered to take care of the problem therefore eliminating the
anxiety. Emotion focused strategies are intended to diminish the emotional distress
that escorts the
Determination In Where The Red Fern
One of the authors theme was Determination. Nearly every action by Billy and his
dogs is an exercise in determination. To start with, Billy demonstrates determination
in getting his dogs, he works jobs for two years to save up enough money to buy
the hounds, then walks through the night to pick up his hounds. Little Ann does
not lose the trail of a coon, and Old Dan never gives up the chase. Old Dan is
determined until the very end, Billy must pry away his jaws from the mountain
lion. Only after Old Dan dies does Little Ann stop having the power to succeed, but
this is because she, Old Dan, and Billy were a team who were determined and had
great trust for each other. In conclusion, determination had a huge part in the book

Essay about 1991 Apush Dbq
1991 DBQ In the aftermath of World War I, during the years 1917 1921, President
Wilson advocated the Treaty of Versailles, which called for the principle of self
determination, the formation of a League of Nations, and general amnesty towards
Germany, as the solution for peace. However, his unwillingness to compromise led
to widespread disagreement. The opposition forces in the U.S. senate consisted of the
reservationists, who were willing to ratify the Treaty of Versailleswith amendments,

H). These views all show the tremendous possibility the Treaty of Versailles had for
ratification if only President Wilson agreed to compromise. Finally, the
irreconcilables were completely closed to the possibility of a League of Nations,
as seen in William Borah s speech in 1918, which harshly criticizes and mocks the
league with hypocritical antitheses like force to destroy force, conflict to prevent
conflict, militarism to destroy militarism, war to prevent war (Doc. A). The
irreconcilable s point of view is also illustrated by an image from the Tribune
Media Services, which shows the U.S. Senate suddenly objecting to the marriage
of the U.S. to foreign entanglement by the League of Nations on the basis of
constitutional rights (Doc. E). According to the senate, the U.S. would be losing the
right to go to war along with collective security if they joined the League of
Nations. The position of European nations, specifically France and Britain, was of
hostility towards Germany for the mass casualties, causing an unwillingness to
pardon them from the guilt clause. The Treaty of Versailles had a great chance of
being ratified if only President Wilson would have been able to make small
amendments. The reservationists had a strong argument about the pros of a League
of Nations, but they disagreed with Article 10, which gave the League s
Comparison Of 12 Angry Men And Dead Poet Society
In this paper I will give a break down on the leadership traits in the two films we
viewed during this course. The movies were 12 Angry Men and Dead Poet Society .
Both movies demonstrated several leadership traits and qualities that were also
described in the books we studied written by Peter Northouse and Warren Bennis. I
will compare traits and theories with different characters from the films. I will
explain the importance of the mentioned traits. I will also explain and contrast the
significance of rhetoric written by Aristotle while explaining the importance in a
leadershipcapacity. I will conclude all discussed objectives and reiterate their
importance for leadership roles and responsibilities.

Professor Keating influenced his students positively in myriads of ways personally
and educationally. Professor Keating used unconventional methods to teach his
students; the methods were unorthodox but effective (Young L. GSL 510 Journal

potential. Leaders should also galvanize and inspire followers with accomplishing
any goal rather if its professional, organizational, or personal success. While
promoting free thinking, Professor Keating empowered his students in various ways.
One student was inspired by professor Keating s free thinking ideology and ended up
challenging his father s strict authority. This action contributed to the cause of his
death when he committed suicide because of his father s strict rules. His father
wanted to suppress his son s free thinking and get him to comply with his harsh
demands. It was unfortunate that he lost his life because of his father s tight reign. I
personally feel the student was taking strides in the right direction. Inspiration,
empowering, mentoring, and teaching are some of the many jobs that a leader does

Uncanny Essay
For the Uncanny final project, Jessica and I proposed to document the uncanny
effects of social media technologies. Our first discussion about what we wanted to
portray led us to a difficult decision on what uncanny effects to focus on. I suggested
documenting the surveillance aspect of social media and the way our technologies
become uncanny when they begin to break down. Only when our technologies begin
to breakdown, do we realize our dependence on them; thus, making social media
devices uncanny. In the first shot, we decided to input colorful television bars that
indicate the television is not working in addition to a static sound effect. This was
meant to set the tone for the breakdown of technologies in the video. This shot then

In this scene we wanted to show how our phones can easily point us in the
direction of where we want to go, but to do this, our phones know where we are.
Combined with this scene, the next scene portrays me attempting to catch the bus
that my phone had suggested to take to get to my destination. In the next two
shots, we used an overlay digital clock text to indicate the passage of time thus
indicating to the viewer that our technologies often are not reliable. This
breakdown of the technology becomes uncanny because at this moment we realize
that the technologies that we use to make our lives easier actually show us how
dependent we are on them when they do not work properly. The final shot of this
video is a long shot in black and white meant to replicate a surveillance camera. We
increased the speed of this shot to indicate the uncanny effect when we realize the
uncanny effects of our technologies. Because the world is so fast paced, we are
prompted to use technologies to keep up. However, when these break down, we in
turn are slowed down. The inability to keep up to a fast paced society becomes
uncanny because the technologies we use to do so, break down are sometimes

Determination Of Sowbugs In Multiple Environments
INTRODUCTION
We observed Sowbugs in multiple environments to determine which environment
they preferred. After the observation, we shared, and recorded our results. The
sowbugs spent 77% of their time on the cool, damp soil, as opposed to 23% of their
time on the hot, dry sand. We asked ourselves: why is it that sowbugs preferred the
cool, damp soil? It was hypothesized that the sowbugs preferred the cool, damp soil
to the hot, dry sand, because moisture was the causative agent. If the hypothesis is
correct, then the sowbugs will spend more time in damp soil.

European Interactions With The French, English, And The...
The Indians interactions with the French, English, and the Spanish varied
depending on the wants and needs of the new settlers. The French embraced the
Indian culture in order to maintain a good trade relationship. The English used
more of a forceful tactic, forcing the Indians violence. The history of North
America centers around the struggle of England, France, and Spain to gain control
of the continent. Settlers and their governments used different approaches on their
efforts to colonization. These differences lead to advantages and disadvantages
that resulted in the New World s fate. France and Spain were governed by
sovereigns whose rule was absolute. The English colonists were able to govern
themselves and had plenty of freedom as long as they followed English law and
were loyal to the king. England strengthened immigration from other nations,
unlike France and Spain. By 1763, the English have defeated France and Spain in
the French and Indian War establishing dominance over North America. October of
1492, Christopher Columbus and his men landed in the Bahamas Islands.
Columbus was originally sent by the king and queen of Spain to Asia, in search for
gold and spices. He was also promised a share of the profit. They were greeted
generously by the natives with food and gifts by a tribe known as the Arawak. Their
kindness led him to believe they would be fine servants and saw them as less than
human. He immediately built a fortress. Columbus and his men went from

Compare And Contrast Essay About Cats And Dogs.pdf

  • 1. Compare And Contrast Essay About Cats And Dogs Writing an essay on the topic of comparing and contrasting cats and dogs can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in the extensive research required to gather sufficient information about both animals but also in presenting a balanced analysis that highlights their similarities and differences effectively. To begin with, one must delve into the characteristics, behaviors, and traits of both cats and dogs to provide a comprehensive comparison. This necessitates thorough exploration into their evolutionary backgrounds, domestication history, physical attributes, and typical habits. Additionally, considering their roles as pets and companions, factors such as trainability, sociability, and preferred environments also need to be examined. Moreover, crafting a well-structured essay requires careful organization of ideas and arguments. A clear introduction setting the stage for the comparison, followed by body paragraphs delineating specific aspects for comparison like temperament, maintenance, and interaction with humans, is crucial. Each point must be supported by relevant examples and evidence to substantiate the analysis. Furthermore, maintaining objectivity throughout the essay is essential. While it's natural for individuals to have personal preferences between cats and dogs, the essay should refrain from biased language or favoritism towards either animal. Instead, it should aim to provide an impartial evaluation of their respective strengths and weaknesses. In conclusion, writing a compare and contrast essay about cats and dogs demands meticulous research, thoughtful analysis, and skilled writing to navigate through the complexities of the topic. However, with dedication and attention to detail, it's possible to create an informative and engaging essay that sheds light on the unique characteristics of these beloved pets. • 2. Energy Conservation And What We Can Do Kris Gilmour August 14, 2015 GEOS 330 Energy Conservation and What We Can Do Every household within the United States can make realistic changes to improve the global energy crisis. Homes in the United States expend a significant amount of natural gas and electricity. Future generations may experience drastic energy deficiencies if people around the world do not act now and take the necessary precautions to reduce energy consumption. Family homes consume roughly thirty eight percent of the total energy consumption per year, which leads problems like global warming. It is vital, now more than ever, that individuals comprehend how we deplete energy in a domestic home and what he or she can do to prevent excessive energy consumption. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keep in mind; there are several other means in which an individual can aid this decrease in energy consumption. The most collective way is to utilize a furnace. Of course, one can always use a fireplace, stove, electric resistance heater, or electrically powered heat pump to warm up the household. Generally, furnaces operate via natural gas and result in approximately sixty to ninety percent efficiency. Shockingly, electrical resistant heaters prove to be almost one hundred percent efficient when it comes to heat production. Unfortunately, this value is not all that accurate in the end game scheme of things. These heaters consume a vast amount of energy in order to heat one s home. An individual needs to inspect the efficiency of a heating element and the amount of energy consumption necessary for operation when considering a new means to produce household warmth. In fact, electricity is more costly than natural gas to generate, making electric resistance heaters pricier to maintain. This energy demand must be included in the total cost of electric resistance heating. An alternative method to heat one s home, and perhaps my favorite after living in Chico, is to do so via a fireplace. Yes, a fireplace. A fireplace eliminates the consumption of natural gas. Instead, the burning of wood fuels a fireplace. Unfortunately, fireplaces do not prove to be an effective solution for society s environmental problem. The burning of wood produces

It began when American s were visiting fast food chains on a much more regular basis than in years past. CMG also owns and operates thirteen ShopHouse Southeast Asia chains along with being an investor in three Pizzeria Locale restaurants. Steve Ells and Montgomery Moran are the CEO s of Chipotle, and together make over $2 million from the company. The shares are traded on the New York StockExchange, and currently the company does not give any dividends to its shareholders. • 5. The, A Modern Classic By Diane Samuels How does Samuel present strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga s relationship? Kindertransport, a modern classic by Diane Samuels, cleverly illustrates the mechanisms of a mother/daughter relationship alongside themes of post modernism, feminism and identity. Nine months before the outbreak of WWII, 10 000 unaccompanied Jewish children were sent to England as a precautionary measure due to the Kristallnacht. One of them was Eva, daughter of Helga, sent unwillingly because of her mother s wishes to keep her alive. Presently, Evelyn is sending her daughter to college. Old memories resurface as Evelyn is forced to confront her childhood as Eva. Throughout this play, Samuels presents strong feelings in Helga and Evelyn s relationship such as loss, betrayal and guilt. Samuels presents strong feelings in Evelyn and Helga s relationship through the idea of post modernism, particularly in Act 1 Scene 2. She shows that Evelyn wants to believe Helga never existed and has locked away her past in the attic, long forgotten. When interrogated about her childhood, she bluntly replies: I certainly have (forgotten). Through her straight forward reply Samuels shows that Evelyn believes everything that Helga once represented her religion, beliefs and identity were an image drawn by everyone and everything around her. Evelyn explicitly tells her daughter I have never lied to you regarding her past. She is saying that she was never Jewish nor German. Evelyn could be implying that identity
  • 6. Theseus As A Hero Myths contain many legendary heroes within, but what makes them different from an ordinary person? Many conveys that it is not very challenging to be a hero, but wise ones know the struggles of being a hero, which the texts Theseus and The Adventure of Odysseus , written in the book Mythology by Edith Hamilton proves. Heroes may require the help from others, but more often than not, they are fearless fighters who do not need the aid of others to be successful. Heroes might easily gain credits for the work of their fellow allies, but that does not mean it is easy to be a hero. A true hero should not be afraid of pain or death just like the great legend Theseus. At the same time, these heroes must be like the extraordinary hero Odysseus, who was successful in his heroic journey. Heros need sidekicks, whom they rely on for multiple things, but end up with all the credit; just like how Theseus obtains all the glory for Ariadne s thinking and how Odysseus attains almost all the credits for Athena s work. Ariadne tells Theseus the way to get out of the Labyrinth where the Minotaur stays. She would bring about the escape if he would promise to take her back to Athens and marry her ( Theseus Hamilton 207). The only reason Theseus was able to slaughter the Minotaur and escape the maze was because of Ariadne. Theseus leaves Ariadne to die on an island. Even if she dies because of a disease, he should have at least inform the people of Athens that she was a huge reason for
  • 7. The J.B. by Archibald MacLeish Argues Why God Allows Evil... If God is powerful and loving the humankind, then why does He permit evil as well as suffering in this world? Various answers had been offered by many Christian philosophers and many victims of suffering, but there was not a lucid answer that could settle this argument permanently. God uses malicious acts of this world to rise up His own people and remind them that there is an opportunity that they can posses their eternal life. Literature, especially biblical literature has exploited this biblical nature to its fullest in various types of forms, including the play J.B. by Archibald MacLeish. In the play J.B, Archibald MacLeish reanimates and modernizes elements taken from the story of Job to come up with his own response to the ultimate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sarah once asked her children on a Thanksgiving Day, Has anyone of you thanked God? Really thanked Him? (29). At first, Sarah fearfully respects God, because she already knows that her prosperity that she has today is going to be taken by God eventually. Sarah s true temperament is not truly revealed after the death of her five children. Has death no meaning? Pain no meaning? , Sarah questioned J.B (109). Sarah is bitter and angry at God, because she does not expect God to take away her loved ones that fast. She even becomes more depressed and hopeless when J.B is still faithful to God at this point. At the end of Scene Eight when Mrs. Murphy said, And he s alone now , implying the leaving of Sarah for her own good. Sarah is an example of fake piety that is fallen after an astonishing punishment. Just like the story of Job where god takes away Job s animals and family, J.B s five children are now gone along with his job as a banker. Fortunately, J.B still stays strong despite the fact that his family is corrupting, because he believes that God will show him his guilt as one of God s puppet so he can be released from the prison of anxiety. All sufferings need to be comforted just like a wild fire that needs to be extinguished. Therefore, in the story of Job, the Three Comforters come to Job and comforted him hoping that he would get a better sense
  • 8. The Lie Of Bushido And The Hidden Blade The Lie of Bushido in The Hidden Blade Two samurai face each other, both bound by a code of honor to fight to the death. This code is Bushido the ancient honor system of the samurai. It emphasized eight important virtues that all samurai must live by. These virtues include Rectitude, courage, benevolence, politeness, honesty, honor, loyalty, and character. Any failure to follow these virtues resulted in the need to commit seppuku or Hara kiri, which was honorable suicide. The Hidden Blade demonstrates the cultural influences of Bushido on feudal samurai. However, Bushido is only an idealized translation of the ideals of the samurai. The popular understanding of the Bushido code that was, in fact, an idealization of the samurai class not codified until the samurai era ended. The Hidden Blade demonstrates the supposed cultural influence of Bushido through the story of Katagiri. Katagiri is a samurai who is in love with Kie, the maid of his house. They are both from different classes and because of this they Hartt 2 cannot marry. Since she cannot marry Katagiri, Kie marries into a merchant family who treats her horrendously. Speciп¬Ѓcally, another potential dimension, recovery, is incorporated into the SERVPERF instrument. After establishing sufп¬Ѓcient reliability and validity of this instrument, we proceed with the second objective to examine the relationship among service quality, food quality, perceived value, customer satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. The organization of this paper includes another п¬Ѓve sections. The theoretical foundation of perceived service quality and its dimensions are reviewed in the next section, followed by the research methodology including the development of the instrument. Then, the data analysis and п¬Ѓndings of this study are presented, followed by the conclusions and managerial implications. The paper concludes with a section on the limitations of this work and potential future research. 2. Theoretical foundation The importance of service quality is substantially addressed in the fast food management literature. Superior service leads to satisп¬Ѓed and loyal customers whose continued patronage is essential to the success of FFRs. Conversely, poor service quality increases customer dissatisfaction and the likelihood that customers dine at a competitor s FFR and/or become an active champion in persuading others to go elsewhere (Gilbert et al., 2004). Hence, it is crucial for service managers to understand how customers perceive the service they provide, and what components might determine

The primary issue with EVD is that the locations in which this disease usually appears is not prepped for the rapid treatment and management of many of these cases. The patients are hypovolemic, vomiting, require constant aid to prevent hyper perfusion of the organs and all the while require PPE (Bah et al., 2015). Not only is this strenuous on any health care personnel, it requires intense staffing, education, and proper screening methods that will target and isolate cases as they appear. The most important intervention here for survival is rehydration using anti emetics, IV fluids and anti diarrheal medications (Bah et al., 2015). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mode of transmission is either wild animal contact with humans or human to human contact (Gidado et al., 2015). In the second cornerstone of this model, the host, there are two facets to discuss. The non human host is primarily the Pteropodidae fruit bat, which is a natural EVD host (WHO, 2017). It was found that the process of bringing fruit bats back to eat may have exposed humans to the virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Leroy et al., 2015). The host that can resist the disease more with humoral and cell mediated responses earlier on has a higher chance for survival (Lee et al., 2008). The third and final cornerstone of the model highlights the agent s environment that allows it to survive. While on dry surfaces, Ebolavirus has been known to only survive for a couple of hours, there are bodily fluids like saliva, breastmilk, stool, and tears that can maintain the survival for days (Bausch, 2007). One of the most prevalent forms of transmission is through semen and other sexually transmitted fluids. There was ebolavirus found in some cases of semen up to 90 days after onset of the disease (Bausch, 2007). Sexually transmitted fluids and blood accounted for in direct contact is primarily the method by which the ebolavirus can survive and essentially procreate and spread (Bausch, 2007). Other environmental factors incorporate the fruit bat population; having an influx or

On top of this, alongside the brutal beatings was the starvation that stretched a great length in time. In the memoi, the campers were fed miniscule portions of soup, bread and water and had minimal sleep and were forced to run hard long hours in any type of weather . I m used to eating 3 meals a day regularly while Eliezer and the other concentration campers were lucky if they even had one. • 12. The Origin And Discoveries Of Electricity And Magnetism This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It is solely a summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and has ushered us into a remarkable new age. Firstly and most importantly, it is about the underlying idea of how magnetism and electricity have come about, also it outlines and maps out the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and the latter discoveries of mega production. When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is like two short circuited power cables. At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable configuration. Long before any knowledge of electricity existed

Analysis Of Proslogion By Anselm Anselm, in his work Proslogion , attempts to answer the question Does God exist in reality? based on the reason and understanding, temporary excluding faith for the sake of argument. Anselm s ontological argument widely reflects the main themes of medieval philosophy of religion, which are compatibility between the divine attributes and theism in opposition to skepticism and naturalistic schemes. Arguing for the monotheism, in other words, existenceof the single God, the author actually assumes him to possess all the divine attributes. From here, one may already conclude that Anselm, calling God something than which nothing greater can be thought , might unite divine attributes in one image and therefore assert the possibility of coexistence

VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas is now in Museo del Prado, in Madrid, Spain.VelГЎzquez s Las Meninas and Picasso s Versions of Las Meninas have quite a few similarities. For starters, in both paintings there is the little princess in the middle of a room. She is also wearing the same outfit in each painting, even though Picasso s version looks a little more like a block. In both of the pictures, the little princess is taking what looks like a cup from one of her ladies in waiting that is handing it to her on a golden tray. If you look closely at VelГЎzquez s painting, you can see that the cup in the princess hand has a hint of red color, and Picasso s also added a bit of orange color to the cup in his painting. In both pieces, you can see that the room that the little princess stands in is dark, with different shades of dark colors, like gray, black, and a lighter gray. There are few differences between the two Las Meninas paintings. Here s a few of them. One is

The author of Twilightalso overlaps the idea of traditional expectations for woman, so Bella is portrayed as a pure young girl. The Film is located in a dark futuristic city yet vibrant with neon lights and crowds of people but this world has lots of backstory with off world colonies and advanced technology. The film is loosely based on a novel called Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968) By Philip K. Dick both having the same plot and sharing the same world. Blade Runner has a dark futuristic city vibe yet vibrant with neon lights and crowds of people. The way Scott makes us move through the city in a bird s eye view at odd angles when moving to a new location draws a sense of awe seeing these massive structures and this endless sprawling city in its midst. The agency where I work advocates this practice, which requires yearly training videos to ensure everyone understands the rules of the practice. Although our society bends the laws to support this practice, I will argue that government laws do not hold true to God s law or even the law of nature. Additionally, I will argue that marriage, by natural law, is designed for procreating purposes. When someone thinks of marriage, it is two people, man, and woman, that have fallen in love, went through the ceremony, have children, and the circle of life begins. Marriage has a specific orientation to having children. The first of Augustine s three goods of marriage children would be inapplicable to covenant partnerships: the second and third goods faithfulness and the bond of permanence would very much apply. This way of life is still prevalent in Japanese culture today (especially among the older generations). Along the lines of Japan s long history of tea, the first signs of these exports appeared in 1610 by the Dutch East India Company, when a shipment of Japanese tea was sent to Europe (Ito En). Later in 1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the United States, then to countries like the UK, Russia, and France. This marked the time in which tea became one of Japan s main exports. Afterwards the export of tea expanded due to the support of the Japanese government, with their main focus on the United States as an export partner. These countries, along with many others nowadays, are still huge tea trading partners with Japan. They contribute a good portion to Japan s tea market; the main attraction to Japanese tea has to do with their cultural practices attributed to earlier uses of tea and ceremonies in Japan. The most famously known occurrence appeared in 2011, when Japan had a triple disaster (earthquake, tsunami, and then followed by the nuclear disaster). This disaster affected tea

Minimum Weight Design of a Wing Box Subjected to Bending Minimum weight design of a wing box subjected to bending Abstract: Aircraft wing is one of the best examples of an efficient structural design. A variety of structural arrangements are possible to satisfy design goals. The endeavour is always to arrive at a minimum weight of a wing structure for a given set of design conditions. The main load carrying structure of a wing is the torsion box formed by front spar, rear spar, and top spar amp; bottom skins. In the preliminary design stages an effect is made to arrive at an efficient design of this box structure. The load carrying capacity of this box structure is largely controlled by the buckling of the compression cover plate. In order to get a minimum weight design of such a box the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first approach requires a thorough understanding of the buckling phenomenon. The top cover of a wing box beam is a long and wide plate. For all practical purposes it will buckle as a wide column where the critical buckling stress is given by the Euler s buckling formula This will be an unacceptably low value. In order to increase the buckling stress, ribs are employed with provide lateral support to the compression cover plate along their lines of attachment. Various possible buckling modes can occur which are briefly discussed below If the flexural rigidity of the tension cover is very low, the box can buckle as a whole. If the tension cove is flexural very stiff and the ribs are very weak then the buckling pattern will be as shown here As the deflection stiffness of the ribs increase the buckling pattern changes forming more than one half sine waves over the length of the box as shown in the next figure Here the ribs are represented as deflectional springs and the buckled wave form is very much exaggerated. The idea here is that the ribs are not stiff enough to provide nodes at their location. This is illustrated in the next figure The ribs are just stiff enough to enforce nodes along their lines of attachment with the skin. The effective length of buckling = rib spacing and the buckling stress

The commercial showed a young athletic woman wearing bright red jogging shorts running toward a giant screen. The screen portrayed a man dictating to hundreds of skinheads, and the girl ran up to the screen and broke it with a baseball bat. The symbolism in this commercial was the main reason it was a pivotal portrayal of Apple in the media. The symbolism of the giant man on the screen represented IBM, and the thousands of skinheads were mindless consumers. Apple was the young athletic woman who broke the screen and freed the thousands of skinheads from a life of monotony with PCs. This new commercial broke all the rules, and the reaction has been, in a word, unprecedented, as stated by Steve Hayden in the San Francisco Chronicle, 1984. This name again gives us a visual image of just how large this bomber was. Speaking of a flying fortress, this is one example of sound language that Lockyer has used. It is a form of alliteration and helps to flow the poem. It helps to emphasise the idea of the B 17 being a castle in the sky. Alliteration also adds to the rhythm of a poem and in a limerick this is all the more important. Because this poem is a limerick, it contains an AABBA rhyme and rhythm pattern. Because the world is so fast paced, we are prompted to use technologies to keep up. However, when these break down, we in turn are slowed down. The inability to keep up to a fast paced society becomes uncanny because the technologies we use to do so, break down are sometimes actually limit

  • 54. Can Researchers Identify Sea Turtles Through Photo... Article 1 Investigating the viability of photo identification as an objective tool to study endangered sea turtle populations 1.The question that the researchers are trying to answer is whether photo identification is a sensible practice to research endangered sea turtles. Their hypothesis was that people would be able to accurately, reliably, easily be able to distinguish individual sea turtles using natural markings. The researchers prediction is that if people use photo identification then they will be able to determine individual sea turtles by matching the markings in the picture to the sea turtle. 2.For the experiment, first, an expert observer is tested on her matching abilities of the photos to tagged turtles with and ... From the results of the expert observer, after naГЇve observers are trained turtles can be accurately and easily identified. It would also avoid the problems of broken tags or harming the turtle but still be able to observe the turtles. This experiment will help science because photo identification will be a stable tool to study turtle population, ecology, behavior, and conservation data. Article 2 Recent changes in the diet composition of common minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) in Icelandic waters. Consequence of climate change? 1.The question that the researchers are trying to answer is why the diets of minke whales changed. Their hypothesis is higher sea temperatures caused minke whales diets to change. They predict that rising water temperatures caused the preferred food source of minke whales to decrease therefore causing the minke whale s diet to change. 2.The basic experimental design was that over 5 years researchers caught minkle whales and within 3 hours of death, analyzed the diet of the whale. They found the volume and weight of fore stomach, verified what species the whale had eaten, and determined how frequent a species was eaten. The responding variable is the species found in the whale s diet that year

  • 58. Determination Of Sowbugs In Multiple Environments INTRODUCTION We observed Sowbugs in multiple environments to determine which environment they preferred. After the observation, we shared, and recorded our results. The sowbugs spent 77% of their time on the cool, damp soil, as opposed to 23% of their time on the hot, dry sand. We asked ourselves: why is it that sowbugs preferred the cool, damp soil? It was hypothesized that the sowbugs preferred the cool, damp soil to the hot, dry sand, because moisture was the causative agent. If the hypothesis is correct, then the sowbugs will spend more time in damp soil. MATERIALS AND METHODS The experimental chamber was a rectangular box split equally in half by a rantagular piece of cardboard placed vertically in the middle of the empty chamber. One

The French embraced the Indian culture in order to maintain a good trade relationship. The English used more of a forceful tactic, forcing the Indians violence. The history of North America centers around the struggle of England, France, and Spain to gain control of the continent. Settlers and their governments used different approaches on their efforts to colonization. These differences lead to advantages and disadvantages that resulted in the New World s fate. France and Spain were governed by sovereigns whose rule was absolute. The English colonists were able to govern themselves and had plenty of freedom as long as they followed English law and were loyal to the king. England strengthened immigration from other nations, unlike France and Spain. By 1763, the English have defeated France and Spain in the French and Indian War establishing dominance over North America. October of 1492, Christopher Columbus and his men landed in the Bahamas Islands. Columbus was originally sent by the king and queen of Spain to Asia, in search for gold and spices. He was also promised a share of the profit. They were greeted generously by the natives with food and gifts by a tribe known as the Arawak. Their kindness led him to believe they would be fine servants and saw them as less than human. He immediately built a fortress. Columbus and his men went from
