Community enterprises provide a sustainable social enterprise model to solve social problems. They are based in communities, creating social wealth and empowering local people. Community enterprises function like businesses to fund their social goals through earned income from sales, social loans and investments, and grants or donations. They are stakeholder-driven and involve community members, employees, local residents, and partner organizations. Examples provided include Barcelona FC, Oxfam, Mondragon, and Coin Street.

3. Most social projects fail not because of the idea or good will, but because it doesn’t involve the people in its progress. From 2006-2009, I was involved in numerous social projects. Projects were successful, but the follow up usually fail. Sample pictures

4. The trouble with donation is: Lack of Ownership & Motivation Giving people solutions spoils them. Let them come up with their own solutions, let them work on it, then give them donation to help them, not to finish their work.

Community Enterprise can be small or can be complex, multi-tiered, etc.

The company now funds projects for the city and other sports as its social function to help children to like sports. Oxfam helps with famine problems all over the world and runs a company that promotes its brand as a mean to fund its activities. Mondragon is the biggest community enterprise in the world and one of thousands in Europe. Coin Street is a community operated real estate business that helps fund social solutions within the community.
