Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) aims to promote effective communication and language use. It began in the 1960s as a reaction against traditional grammar-based teaching. Some key principles of CLT are that the goal is to enable students to communicate in the target language, the teacher acts as a facilitator of learning activities that promote student interaction, and students learn by negotiating meaning in authentic contexts.
THIS IS A METHOD OF APPLIED LANGUAGE TEACHING METHODS. IT HAS BOTH MANY ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES. WE WORKED ON HARDLY WITH MY GROUP. HOPE IT WILL BE USEFUL FOR EVERYONE.
THIS IS A METHOD OF APPLIED LANGUAGE TEACHING METHODS. IT HAS BOTH MANY ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES. WE WORKED ON HARDLY WITH MY GROUP. HOPE IT WILL BE USEFUL FOR EVERYONE.
Communicative Language Teaching is the cornerstone for approaches that have shifted from a grammar-based language view to a functional view of language where communication is the main objective. Such approaches are CBI (Content-based instruction) and TBI (Task-based instruction). Today, both CBI and TBI are the leading approaches most teachers are currently using to teach a second/foreign language around the world. Both approaches have been proven to be effective, and the most important thing is that students are truly learning to use language to communicate their ideas to different audiences.

Curricular planning is a critical aspect of education that involves the design and organization of educational experiences to achieve specific learning objectives. In English, curricular planning encompasses various components, such as defining educational goals, selecting instructional materials, and determining assessment strategies.
One key element of curricular planning is establishing clear learning objectives. Educators must articulate what students are expected to know and be able to do by the end of a course or program. These objectives serve as a roadmap, guiding the development of instructional activities and assessments.
Selecting appropriate instructional materials is another crucial aspect of curricular planning. This involves choosing textbooks, supplementary resources, and technology that align with the learning objectives and cater to diverse learning styles. The materials should engage students and provide a solid foundation for acquiring knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, curricular planning involves designing instructional strategies that foster active learning and critical thinking. Teachers may incorporate a variety of methods, such as collaborative projects, discussions, and hands-on activities, to enhance student understanding and retention of information.
Assessment strategies play a pivotal role in curricular planning as they measure students' progress toward the learning objectives. Formative assessments, conducted during instruction, provide feedback to both teachers and students, enabling timely adjustments. Summative assessments, administered at the end of a unit or course, evaluate overall learning outcomes.
Flexibility is key in curricular planning, allowing educators to adapt to the evolving needs of students and changes in educational contexts. Continuous reflection on teaching practices and assessment results enables educators to refine and improve the curriculum over time.
In conclusion, effective curricular planning in English education involves setting clear learning objectives, selecting appropriate instructional materials, implementing diverse teaching strategies, and employing comprehensive assessment methods. This dynamic process ensures a well-rounded and adaptive educational experience for students, ultimately fostering their academic success and personal development.
Key Strategies & Digital Tools for ELL Instruction in CCSS 2015Martin Cisneros
Are your ELL students ready for the CCSS & assessments? Join us to explore a set of key principles and the various digital resources, apps , and web tools to support ELLs in meeting the rigorous, grade level academic standards found in the Common Core State Standards. The principles are meant to guide teachers, coaches, ELL specialists, curriculum leaders, school principals, and district administrators as they work to develop Common Core State Standards-aligned instruction for ELLs. These principles are applicable to any type of instruction regardless of grade, proficiency level, or program type.
In March of 2009, a group of 18 EFL Educators from around the globe participated in a unique program sponsored by the US Department of State and organized by The Center for Language Education and Development - CLED- of Georgetown University. This pp presentation summarizes the educational visits that were made and has links to all the schools that were visited, as well as links to videos depicting the visits.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

2. BACKGROUND
Mankind has tried to transmit the heritage of
languages going from the simple to the complex
or in other words from the traditional patterns to
the innovation and as long as it has been
developed it suffered modifications. At this point
our approach to language teaching is called
CLT, it`s roots in the idea that the goal of language
learning is to become good at communicate in a
real context . Beginning in the 1960s, British
applied linguists developed the communicative
approach as a reaction away from grammar-
based approaches.

6. TECHNIQUES:
*AUTHENTIC MATERIALS:
To overcome the typical problem that students cannot
transfer what they learn in the classroom to the
outside world and to expose students to natural
language in a variety of situations.
*SCRAMBLE SENTENCES:
The students are given a passage in which the
sentences are in a scrambled order. This may be a
passage they have worked with of one they have not
seen before. They are told to unscramble the
sentences so that the sentences are restored to their
original order.

7. * LANGUAGE GAMES:
Games are used frequently in CLT. The students find
them enjoyable, and if they are properly designed, they
give the students valuable communicative practice.
*PICTURE STRIP STORY:
Many activities can be done with picture strip stories.
*ROLE PLAY:
Teacher s gives the students an opportunity to practice
communicating in different social contexts and in
different social roles. Role plays can be set up so that
they are very structured or in less structured way.
