What are good leadership qualities that will help you move through your organization with super speed? In this post, we profile seven leadership qualities that you absolutely need to cultivate.

organisation is its people, a leader will empower them and help
them to realise their own potential within the organisation. As
Jack Welch famously said, ‘Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.’ Put another way, leaders create leaders.

Influence stakeholders through leadership by Mr. Gaby AwadPMILebanonChapter
Mr. Gaby Awad was the speaker for the month of September 2017 in PMI Lebanon Chapter and he discussed Project Leadership and what does it take to align Leadership ‘laws’ into the process of influencing stakeholders.
Talking Points & Agenda:
“Becoming a Person of Influence” is a model for anyone who aspires to grow as a leader. Based on a book written in tandem by Dr. John C. Maxwell and Jim Dornan, the book spells out ten fundamental qualities that define influencers. The authors carefully point out that a person’s influence does not develop overnight, but rather through a progression of four stages: modeling, motivating, mentoring, and multiplying. Influence can be acquired, but it only grows in increments. The good news is that no matter where you stand on the stairway of influence, there are learnable qualities to help you climb to the next step. Key concepts discussed in the talk:

3. • Why effective communication is so important.
• How to communicate effectively
• Listen effectively
• Speak like a Leader
• Give and Take Feedback like a Pro
4. • It’s about context!
If stakeholders don’t communicate effectively, the outcome is
usually known.
5. • The four human needs directly related to teamwork and
leadership are the following:
• 1)To feel that your performance is acknowledged;
• 2) To feel a sense of belonging;
• 3) To have a hopeful, realistic future to look forward to; and
• 4) To know what others expect of them and have the resources
to succeed.
6. • Most of these needs are fulfilled through effective
communication.
• Social Contexts drive our behaviors, and hence affects a team’s
ability to perform or not.
8. • You’re only at the top to have a better “view”.
• Your lack of communication might end up causing the
appearance of the “guerrilla” syndrome in your work
environment.
• You set the pattern. It’s either the great team, or….
• It’s easier to attract talent than to keep it.
9. • Can people talk honestly about their worries, concerns?
• Are there a few junior employees that can give feedback to management?
10. • You can pay people enough to come to work, but you can’t pay
them enough to want to come to work.
11. • A study was carried out about regrets of organizations heads.
Most of them mentioned something related to dealing with
human beings.
• When it’s blurry, try improving communication skills.
• When management sends dumb stuff down, front-line people
are hopefully too smart and care enough not to follow it.
• Pay attention!
12.
13.
14. • Don’t try to “read” minds!
• Don’t think of you’re going to be saying next.
• Don’t interrupt; don’t derail.
• Don’t selectively absorb.
• Don’t act like the so-called “know-it-all”.
15. • Try to understand the others’ conditions.
• Rephrase in your mind.
• Confirm that you have received
the message.
Activity
24. • We influence by giving.
• We influence by authority.
• We influence by requesting incremental commitment.
• We influence by “showing” our unique value.
• We influence through our communities.
• We influence when people like us.
25. • Conciseness
• Wit
• Diplomacy
• Positive Urgency
• Drive
• Release your words to history…..
