Language And Imagery In Oedipus The King
The language and imagery of the movie all build K s pathos well during the film. When the
audience is first shown K s apartment building, they are shown plenty of rugged looking people
all staring at K with judgemental glares and mumbling under their breath, all the while anti
replicant slang and and imagery are spray painted outside of his apartment and even on his door. It
is clear that K (replicants) are not welcome by the general populace of people and are treated much
worse than everybody else. The cruel reactions to K build up the audience s sympathy towards him,
they not only understand that he has a very difficult life and that others treat him unfairly, but also
that he has memories and emotions just like humans, but since he is not human he is judged
differently.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The musical score of the movie is excellent, it can move from booming action and explosions to
a soft eerie noise that warns of the audience of what is to come. The color scheme really drives
home the fact that this futuristic new world is completely divided. An example of this is that the
city is full of bright, multi colored signs and a large variety of flashing lights; all the while the
world outside is grim, filled with different shades of dull grey, corroded red, and twisted black.
Pacing, it never gets in the way and it always represents what is going on in the film. When K is
doing detective work it is slow, suspenseful, and always curious; opposingly, when a fight is
taking place every decision is faced paced and unstoppable. All of these elements never take the
lead role in this movie; however, Blade Runner 2049 would not be as thrilling without

Stop And Frisk Research
Racial Discrimination of Stop and Frisk in the NYPD
The New York City Police Department stop and frisk impacts thousands of peoples lives
everyday, and unfortunately most of the cases involve African American and Hispanic Males,
which shows racism is still present in the world we live in today. Prior to speaking about a stop
and frisk, one must have general knowledge about what it is and all of its supporting parts. A
Stop and frisk occurs when an officer of the law temporarily detains an individual or group of
people on the street to question them about the reason or reasons in which they were stopped,
and possibly also frisking or searching them for the safety of the officers and the detainees as well.
A stop may end with someone being arrested or given a ticket if evidence of a crime being
committed comes to light. A stop and frisk is a concise, non invasive, policestop of a
suspect(Cornell University Law School, 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Probable cause means that an officer may not stop a person without having a reasonable
suspicion that the individual has, is about to, or will commit a crime in the future. It protects one
from having their fourth amendment rights being abused by these officers who do not follow
protocol and conduct unlawful searches and seizures as stated in the U.S Constitution. The only
time that frisking someone can be done without legal issues is when the officer has a reason to
believe that the person is a threat to the officers, other bystanders, themselves and/ or have a
weapon. The paper will expand on the proper policies and procedures of a stop and frisk, along
with how racial discrimination plays a huge role in the unlawful stop and frisks being conducted by

The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith Essay
In the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith talks about international trade and subsequent government
policies which became increasingly significant throughout modern history. Protectionism is the
term for economic policies of restraining trade between countries when they want to protect their
domestic industries from foreign competition. Trades nowadays have different forms and methods
and involve more businessmen as well as consumers, which is why tradediplomats are looking to
regional agreements. The US experienced two major economic declines during the 20th century,
both of which had much to do with international trade. Smith mentioned tariffs in the 18th century,
but the role and forms of protectionismhave changed across time, so we should know whether the
development of economy should actually be correlated with or decided by the political sector of the
society and when protectionism will benefit or hurt economy.
Main protectionist policies include tariffs, quotas, embargos and voluntary export restraints, and
Adam Smith s idea of absolute advantage has been developed further to explain international trade.
In recent years, protectionism has become closely related to globalization during which the
influences of trades spread almost everywhere, so people insist upon the study of social
deformities generated by improper policies on international trade and the task of pointing them out
with a view to remedy. There are certainly both economic and political purposes of trade

Fear In The Most Powerful Motivator, By Robert Evans...
Fear is a negative word when it comes to mind and an unwanted feeling. It is something that is
dangerous, painful, and threatening to us. A lot of people do not think of it as a motivator. In fact,
it is the most potent motivator according to Robert Evans Wilson Jr., author of The Most Powerful
Motivator. Fearis what keeps us from injuries, alive, provoke fights, and prevent us from making
mistakes (Wilson, 2009). Fear as a motivator also is a pain in the ass. In the book March, there
were many situations where fear was fought against to obtain equal rights. The African American
fear the ongoing racism, and they turned it around and used it as a motivator.
Fear is what keeps people brave; One example was at the very beginning of the book before
chapter one, it showed a graphic scene of peaceful African Americans marching across a bridge.
Hosea asked John, Can you swim? John replied, No. Hosea replied, Neither can I, but we might
have to. The Armed police were on the other side yelling to turn around. Instead, they kneel. The
cops ended up violently beating them up. In Understanding Comics, Scott talked about emotions
through vibrations of the lettering style; it tells an ongoing struggle of sounds. On page eight where
cops were beating up the African Americans, had different vibration lettering in and out of balloons.
This page showed the different struggle of fear. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Book Thief Themes
In times of war everything gets destroyed, from countries to lives to culture. Nothing is off limits
when someone is willing to go to the extreme to get what they want, no matter who they step on
on the way. In Markus Zusak s The Book Thief, readers see the effects of war on the small,
fictional town of Molching, Germany during World War
II, specifically on that of young Liesel
Meminger and her foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Through the eyes of Death one can
relate the themes of war and the censorship of an overrun country with those of extremist groups
today who, years later, utilize some of the same methods of control in order to gain power.
In late June of 1975, Elisabeth and Helmut Zusak welcomed Markus, their fourth (and last) child
into the world. At the time, they had been living in Sydney, Australia, however, both had
emigrated from other countries. Both Lisa s native country of Germany and Helmut s native
country of Austria were a part of World War II at the time of their living there, which led them to
acquire stories that would later on inspire their son to write what is arguably his most lucrative
novel, The Book Thief. I grew up in Sydney, but when my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

1. DEFINITION AND DIAGNOSIS
The Orthotics field is often associated with upper limb orthoses, such as an airplane splint, lower
limb orthoses, such as AFOs (ankle foot orthosis) and FOs (foot orthosis), or spinal orthoses.
However, there are also orthotic devices for other areas of the body, like the head cranial helmets.
Also referred to as cranial bands, helmet molding therapy, or cranial orthosis, is a type of treatment
where an infant is fitted with a special helmet to correct the shape of the skull (Kieffer). Cranial
helmets resemble bicycle helmets in appearance as displayed by Figure 1. The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) regulate a large portion of cranial helmets, similar to other medical
devices. Under the FDA, cranial orthoses are categorized as a Class II medical device. A class II
devices represent a medium risk category for which FDA establishes that additional special
controls are needed to ensure safety and efficacy. Examples of class II devices would include
sutures and bone drills (Littlefield). Cranial Helmets are designed and/or fitted by an Orthotist (an
allied health practitioner). In the majority of cases, cranial helmets are constructed out of various
plastic polymers with a multitude of decorative patterns and colors.
The first step of helmet molding therapy is evaluation via measurement. An Orthotist will visually
observe the head for ear alignment and facial symmetry. In the past, cranial casts were used to
obtain precise measurements.

In previous studies, studying the chemistry and the types of macro invertebrates that live in a

Identified the ones we found. With the data that we collected, we hope to find out how does the

indicators that only live in clean water. Our variables are water quality as our independent and our
dependent is the macro invertebrates.

The elective Australian voices examine the ideas, values and perspectives that are intrinsic to
Australian society. The voice in a text is a representation of experiences which reflect identity and

use different language features to convey a distinctly Australian voice. Central to Bird s argument
for the importance of reconciliation is the structural organization of the book. It is this that allows

Detective Fiction Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay
According to the English crime writer P.D. James (1920 ) for a book to be described as detective
fiction there must be a central mystery and one that by the end of the book is solved satisfactorily
and logically, not by good luck or intuition, but by intelligent deduction from clues honestly if
deceptively presented. (James. 2009: 16). This is traditionally conducted via a detective; a figure
deployed within the narrative structure whose occupation is to investigate crimes (Oxford. 2006:
202). Therefore detective fictionrepresents an enigma, a puzzle to be solved through an intriguing
series of events and clues presented by the writer to its audience; that are taken on a journey

immense social and economic changes and the consequent movement of the population to the
towns...conditions became intolerable and led to the formation of the New Police ...in 1829 the
first Metropolitan Police Act was passed. (Mayor s Office. 2012). Over a decade later the
Detective Police Department was formed in London, England in (1842), enabling the rise,
popularity and mass publication of detective fiction as a genre. (Priestman. 2003: xi).
However, arguably and ostensibly the roots and traditional form of detective fiction as recognised in
contemporary society stem from the nineteenth century American author Edgar Allan Poe(1809
1849) and his work The Murders in the Rue Morgue (1841). As argued by the twenty first
century author and professor of English; Martin Priestman the detective story was invented in
1841 by Edgar Allan Poe, who acknowledged some debt to the structure as well as content of
William Godwin s earlier novel Caleb Williams (1794). In the 1860 s the form pioneered in Poe s
short stories at last found a way into the novels of Emile Gaboriau in France and

Character Analysis Of Sandra Bullock s The Blind Side
At the age of 45, Sandra Bullock won an Oscar award for the movie The Blind side in the year
2010. Sandra plays the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy, her character s heart is pure of kindness as she
took in Michael Oher, who she knew from the start was full of potential. But due to his skin
color, no one thought to believe it. She plays a middle class, average american mom who
believed in equality and acceptance. As she had a family of her own, she never failed to leave
Michael out of the picture. Her character is very strong and independent, and in my opinion kind
of stubborn but for a good cause. As many doubted Michael, Leigh used the kindness of her heart
to make sure Michael had a clear road to success, since his own birth mom wasn t capable of
doing it herself. This movie was based on a true story which I find astonishing and inspiring.
What filled me with anger though is just seeing how people were discriminated, and how many
did not stand up to be allies. But Leigh really opened up that passage way to equality that most
African American s never really experienced. She put out a clear message that not all white people
are cruel and racist. Fun fact: The real Leigh Anne Tuohydid an interview talking about her
experience and how it really encouraged many to stand up for what s right, and even the little
spontaneous moments can really impact someone s life, in a way you may not understand.
It s mindboggling, the 54 year old mother of three says. We realize we do have a mission. We
have the opportunity to change lives. If that sounds narcissistic, screw it. Racism is alive and
well in this country; we have to learn how to love someone who doesn t look like us. (Tuohy,
2015) She speaks with honesty and confidence, yet many still disagree with equality. Why hate
on someone for the stupidest excuses. Because of skin? Eyes? Hair? People can t help the way
they look. But they can help the way they are treated. If you don t like the way someone is being
treated, be like Leigh Tuohy and stand up. Stop sitting on your butts and speak up. Sandra Bullock
was speaking to a reporter about how taking on this role would become a challenge but she would
take the risks. Leigh Anne is a one of a kind human being, and

29. Your grandma is having her annual osteoporosis checkup, which includes an iDXA scan. Six
months ago, she had a spinal fusion at L1 L3. Her clinician uses ISCD diagnostic criteria. How
should the scan proceed? If her clinician used WHO diagnostic criteria, would you recommend the
same scan procedure?
The scan should proceed using the dual femur and the forearm. Her spine would not be the
appropriate site to analyze. The dual femur and forearm should be used in this case because she
has had surgery at L1 L3. The rods and screws from the surgery, would most likely generate
higher T scores and Z scores, which will misdiagnose her analyzation. Moreover, her spine is not a
good area to be scanned, due to her surgery. Therefore, the clinician should still use ISCD to
generate a diagnosis. If the clinician used WHO I would still recommend using just the dual femur
scan. WHO analyzes the femoral neck. Therefore, the forearm would not be needed for analyzation
with this particular organization.

Osteoporosis in aging women is an important topic. Of the estimated 10 million Americans with

osteoporosis is common and is a major public health issue. This devastating disease is prevalent
among middle aged and older women. Research indicates that it is estimated that 200 million

As the human species age, the bones in the body go through a process called remodeling.
Remodeling, is when the bone cells dissolve (osteoclasts) and new bone cells grow back
(osteoblasts). (www.oseofound.org). However, when osteoporosis has occurred the amount of bone
loss increases faster than the growth of new bone. This results in the bones becoming porous, brittle
and prone to fracture.
There are two types of risk factors that increases the likelihood of developing osteoporosis. The
first type is fixed risks and the second type is modifiable risks. Some of the fixed risk factors are
age, female gender and body size, family history, ethnicity, and Menopause/hysterectomy. A few
modifiable risk factors are poor nutrition, vitamin D deficiency, insufficient exercise, low dietary
calcium intake. Age is one leading factors in the development of this disease because bones
become thinner as the body ages. Approximately one in two women over the age of 50 will break
a bone because of osteoporosis (www.nof.org.). The female gender is another risk factor for
developing this disease. Women are more likely to develop this because women tend to have
smaller and thinner bones than men (Lane, 2006).
Family history is a risk factor because if someone in the family has osteoporosis or fractures a
bone, this increases the likelihood that a member of that family will develop the disease. Women

roles of being a mother and a wife, but did not stop against advice to end her activism. She did
acknowledge a role in being a wife in which she sometimes stood in the shadow of her husband

The Time is Night by Liudmila Petrushevskaya Essay
The Time is Night is a short novel by Liudmila Petrushevskaya. It is one of the few stories that I
enjoy reading over and over again. The reason is that each time I re read it, I perceive it in a
slightly different way. The complicity of characters and the style of the novel is what I would like
to emphasize most about the novel, as well as the fact that The Time is Night represents an
outstanding social awareness of the author.
As an introduction, Liudmila Petrushevskaya writes that what readers are about to see is a diary
that was sent to her by the daughter of the author of the diary after her mother s death. The notes

were as miserable as she was. They did not play any role in her life, they just defined the
atmosphere around her. It was the atmosphere of the last years of the Soviet Union. Everybody s
lives were gray and stagnant. Anna was a smart woman, she needed to express herself which was
totally impossible. All she had to do was trying to make ends meet. This routine certainly made her
personality duller. She realized that and the only thing that made her move forward was her sense
of humor that never let her down.
All the people she met on her way came and went leaving Anna alone with her beloved Baby and

only person who still needed her. There was no one she loved more than him, she lived for him.
She wanted to share her thoughts with him and the only way for her was to write it, quot;My

Economic Analysis of Remedial Education and How it...
INTRODUCTION
Education is an important part of one s life. It can shape a student s identity, challenge his biases,
and encourage him to be inquisitorial and entrepreneurial in his thinking. Education can also push a
student through institutions only to ascertain that he meets some minimum standard. Modern day
high schools are graduating students in record numbers (Richmond 2013) , but the prevalence of
remediation in higher education illustrates the structural failure of American public schools to
effectively, adequately, and equitably educate students, especially indigent student populations
(Strong American Schools). As such, this issue requires serious public policy consideration.

The increasing numbers of sub model cars can also affect the brand quality through increasing any
risk issues once launched to the public. Furthermore, according to (Stephen, 2004) Mercedes
customers have high expectations about the high quality promised by the company. In 2003, the
company disappointed many customers when they sold over 2000 vehicles with an extra option for
a navigation system, which were not ready to be delivered at the right time, also accompanied by
other mechanical issues. On the other hand, the company made an announcement about its new
high quality hydraulic breaking system, which increased its competitiveness in terms of safety and
quality against other competitors in the industry.
Our company should make sure that manufacturers deliver products with the highest design
specification, in order to be order winner quality conformance, by delivering products with no
defects (Hill and Hill, 2012). Furthermore, improvements in quality lead to a decrease in cost for
the company. According to (Evans, 1997) higher quality products lead to a decrease in costs for
the company through higher productivity: improvements in quality leads to lower cost because of
less re work, fewer mistakes, fewer delays and snags (Evans 1997, P.55).

Nt1310 Unit 8 Lab
The objective of the lab was to program a vehicle to continuously drive in a one meter square.
The square was to be completed in less than 20 seconds, and only the wheel encoder could be used
to navigate the vehicle. All of this was done by using the Arduino software tool and the Redbot
library to create a program that would satisfy the given lab requirements. The program below has a
void setup() function which only runs once and is used to create a pin input into the board. Next is
the void loop() function which runs forever until there is a condition that makes the program exit
the loop. In the loop() function, there is a for loop that contains the functions driveStraight() and
turnLeft() with a delay command after each one. The drive Straight() function takes in the two
parameters, the preferred distance and motor power. The turnLeft() function takes in an angle and
turning speed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, there is a while loop that continues to run if the left encoder is less than the value of the
number of revolutions multiplied by the counted ticks per revolution. After this, if the computed
motor ticks are unequal between the two motors, the function is written to where the vehicle can
adjust and correct itself if it starts to drift to one side. This is done by if else statements in which
each motor power is adjusted. Variables used in the driveStraight() function were used in the
turnLeft () function as well. The function contains a turningTime variable, which is set to the
inputted angle multiplied by 1000 and is divided by the inputted turning speed. Like the previous
function, if else statements were used to adjust each of the motors power to make a proper turning
angle. At the end of the function, the command encoder.clearEnc(Both) clears both the encoders

Summary Of We Ve Got The Dirt On Guy Brains By Dave Barry
Do men and women think and react differently to certain situations? In the article We ve Got the
Dirt on Guy Brains by Dave Barry, he explains why and how both genders have different
reactions. He says that woman can detect a single dirt molecule twenty feet away , whereas men
have Male Genetic Dirt Blindness . If a man and a womanwere looking at the same bathroom, the
man would say it was clean, whereas the woman would say it was filthy. This could be just one
man s opinion, but he goes on to explain how he has scientific proof of it being true. Dave Barry
uses a sarcastic yet logical tone within his article We ve Got the Dirt on Guy Brains to show how
men and women view situations differently.

Toxic Chemicals In Flint, Michigan
Toxic chemicals such as lead and mercury in our environment have links to the causes of cancer,

The Force Awakens Stereotypes
The Force Awakens is the newest episode of Star Wars that has been released in theatres, and
takes place many years after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The Resistance, the new Rebel
Alliance, now faces a new threat, the First Order. In the hopes of defeating this threat, they look
to Luke Skywalker, who s whereabouts are unknown. Rey, the capable and independent
protagonist, rescues a BB 8 unit and discovers it holds the missing piece of the map that leads to
Luke. Together, along with Finn, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, they must find a way to deliver the
piece of the map to The Resistance and stop the First Order s plans of annihilation.
When someone thinks about the qualities of a hero, the few that always come to mind are strength,
an acting leader, and a protector of the innocent; all of which are qualities thought of as being
predominantly male. These qualities are further exemplified in Luke Skywalker, the young Jedi
Knight of episodes IV through VI, all of which were made about forty years ago. A young farmer

In doing so, it displays the way our society has progressed to view women as physically capable

Star Wars, and to depict the hero of the newest episode as a female sends strong messages to
everyone. Little girls look up to Rey and feel inspired by her actions. Little boys who see a
female as the hero will view her as their equal and respect her. The countries who still view
women as lesser beings will see Rey s strength and independence. While it may not urge them to

Concealed Weapons Research Paper
Concealed Carry Weapons
I took a look at gun control and how society feels about it. I looked at if people thought that you
should have a permit to carry a weapon. I looked at age, income and if they owned a gun. This is a
small survey that looks at my classmates thought. This survey was conducted by Survey Monkey.
1PURPOSE
In this survey I was looking at how people felt about concealed weapons. I wanted to take a look
at some of their thoughts on who should be allowed to carry. How age affected there choices on
this matter. Would sex and race have an effect on this? How housing could affect the answer.
Whether or not income had a large effect on the results in the survey.
2PROCEDURE
In the beginning of the survey I asked personal questions. I then followed that up by asking their
thoughts on rights to own a gun and if a permit should be required. I ended the survey by asking
about age, sex, race and income. I tried to come up with straight forward easy questions to ask. I
wanted the questions to be familiar and easy to answer; questions that wouldn t be confusing. I
wanted to receive unbiased answers.

responses. Yet the survey was very narrow and didn t involve different ethnicities the results were
still interesting. I would of liked to involve a larger group to see how much the results would

of these differences, the linear equation found is not a perfect representation of the given data.
Developing a Function with Technology:
After further examination, a new function must be formed to better fit the data given. This
function which I now believe fits the data well is the quadratic function. I believe that the
quadratic is a good fit because the data seems to take the same shape as a quadratic, x and y values

Crisis Models In Counseling Paper

for individuals who are experiencing a crisis (James Gilliland, 2017). The three crisis intervention
models discussed in this paper are the contextual ecological model, psychological first aid model,

There are several reasons the PFA model adds value to counseling some, which include safety for
the client, reducing clients stress symptoms, rest and recuperation, and providing resources for
social support and shelter (James Gilliland, 2017). For example, when hurricane Katrina hit,
individuals were left with no home or belongings. The PFA model would have all mental health
workers come in and provide individuals with shelter, food, and clothing. Once the essential needs
have been met for individuals, the PFA model promotes safety, calming, sense of self and
community, and instilling hope and connectedness (Ruzek et al., 2007). In the PFA model there are
eight core actions that take place for any crisis, which include contact and engagement, safety and
comfort, stabilization, information gatherings, practical assistance, connection with social
supporters, information on coping, and linking with collaborative services (James Gilliland, 2017).

the direction of the valley. Running water can be heard, flowing in a manner of constant control
and power, slowing only at certain times of the seasons. To the left, a waterfall can be partially
seen roaring with a vigorous energy, cascading down the rock, plummeting into a shallow pool of
water. The pool attempts to engulf three large boulders sitting on the outskirts, only able to
claim their undersides. Further, a bridge comes into view, standing proud, with a solid
construction of rock and mortar. On each side it offers a wall, both of which rise to protect from
the drop below, with the left side forming a connection to the stone wall that preceded them. The

Continuing, the path soon finds itself at the beginning of a new set of stairs. The stairs are a bit
more deteriorated and uneven, showing lots of cracks and moss. They hug around a corner of

Mabel Dodge Speech Good Evening my fellow neighbors. Most of you know me and for the
ones who do not, I am Mabel Dodge. I am the daughter from a family in Buffalo and had what
was considered the best education for girls in the nineteenth century. Instead of going to college,
I got married, became a mother and soon, a widow. Later, I traveled abroad and soon married a
Boston architect, Edwin Dodge who I later realized the passion I had was no more so I divorced
him. I became bored and began to crave art, the beauty and inspiration! A salon in Florence, Italy
that I created for the purpose of attracting the most up and coming artists in Europe, had me
become well known and even a muse for one of Gertrude Stein s image poems. I reluctantly joined
Edwin my husband at the time, who was eager to come back to the United States. I settled in an
apartment on the lower Fifth Avenue which most of you have been in for my evenings of
controversial debates. What will women do with their new freedom? Not turn evil as many of you
would think. Women could create lives for themselves, become economically independent and
independent throughout. There are opportunities for women outside of the home. There is a whole
other life outside the house. Yes, some women will have to learn to govern themselves but that is
only because they were never given the chance to in their lives before. I quote Walter Lippmann in,

The Russian Revolution had happened for two years from 1904 to 1906. Before all of the

Petersburg. However, troops and police open fired, killed and wounded hundreds of the crowd.
This event, which happened in St. Petersburg, was known as the Bloody Sunday. The Bloody
Sunday, well known event during the Russian Revolution of 1905, was the biggest cause and
step that had lead to the 1905 Revolution. All over the country, strikes rose with complains that
people of Russia do not have enough civil rights or liberties. Peasants attacked their landlords
homes and took over their properties from flocks to lands. Large group of lawyers, doctors,
students, engineers and other middle class citizens demanded constitutional assembly over
autocracy and establishment of Union of Unions. As the strikes were spreading all over Russia,
one of the well known strikes was the Potemkin Munity. In June 1905, sailors of the Potemkin
battleship were complaining about their meat to be served rotten. Captains of the battleships
were frightened that this action might lead to bigger strikes and ordered the crews who had
complaints to be killed. However, soldiers who were ordered by the captains on the battleship
refused the command and threw their captains overboard of their ship and sailed all the way to
Romania. In October 1905, large strikes rose in an action to block the whole railway system of

866). Their rationality is based on the fact that democracy empowers the masses that are able to use
this power to fight back and prevent their government from abusing their human rights.
Democracy also makes it easier for citizens to report instances of state repression to the
international community, thus forcing abusive leaders to either stop the abuses or to renounce
their power (Poe Tate, 1994, p. 855 866). In a semi democratic country like Russia, this
empowerment of the masses has less strength to significantly prevent state repression, and
sometimes the ability to shed light on abuses is difficult since mass media is practically
controlled by the abusive government. Similarly, Davenport (1995) argues that democratic
governments are less likely to use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations because
their nature is to allow expressions of freedom by the citizenry, which they are aware always
comes with a level of domestic disorder. This awareness decreases the use of violence against the
citizens (p. 690 691). Since Russia is a semi democratic state, government respect and awareness of
citizens freedom in not yet well developed, so the government continues to react violently and to
use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations, as it was the nature of the pre existing
socialist government.

These changes will find their way into every market how will independent owners be prepared
to react? Absorption and the question of market penetration Much of the decline in occupancy
has been attributed to the massive influx of new units brought to the market. Over the previous
year, more than 22,000 units were added to the Seniors Housing stock. Of those 22,000 units,
only 15,000 have been absorbed to date. The second quarter of 2017 alone brought online
approximately 6,000 units the largest quarterly increase in new units since NIC began collecting
data. While stabilized communities (facilities older than two years or if less have already
reached 95%+ occupancy levels) continue to show strong occupancy levels (90.4% nationally),
the influx of inventory will eventually work its way into affecting occupancy at older stock as
newer Seniors Housing residents will have a choice between providers. Capital Listens While
acquisition and development capital will always analyze deals on a local level, troubling national
headlines relating to low occupancy could cause capital s purse strings to tighten. Seniors Housing
has few publicly available data points, occupancy statistics being one of them. Many investors
speculate that we are in the later innings of the investment cycle and all eyes are scanning the
horizon for any signs of trouble. Might the recent low occupancy figures be those dark clouds?

Chemical Formula Of An Unknown Hydrated Copper Chloride...
Purpose Statement: In this experiment, we will determine the chemical formula of an unknown
hydrated copper chloride compound which is composed of copper and chlorine. We will use
stoichiometry, which is the relationship between quantities of materials in a chemical reaction, to
determine the chemical formula for a compound. We will use the mole to mole conversion to find
the formula of a hydrated compound with the general formula CuxCly.zH2O. We will convert the
masses of water, copper, and chlorine to moles of water, copper, chlorine and determine the whole
number ratio of these components in the empirical formulas so we can find the empirical formula
of the dehydrated compound, CuxCly and the empirical for the hydrated compound CuxCly.zH2O.
Results:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We then took the mass of the crucible and the hydrated staple which is 18.382 grams and the
mass of dehydrated with the crucible is 18.243 grams. After that, we used the molar mass of
water to find either the mass of copper or the mass of chlorine in the sample. We have done this
by dissolving the sample in water, which gave us a result of green crystals changing into a bright
greenish color containing copper and chloride ions. To the solution, we an aluminum metal wire
and the aluminum reacted chemically changing into a darker color. The aluminum oxidized itself
and the copper metal appeared on the wire with the reddish color of copper. When the reaction was
complete, we remove the aluminum and separated the copper from the solution to weigh the metal
and calculate the number of moles of copper in the sample. After that, we found the mass of
chlorine from subtracting the mass of copper from that of the dehydrated compound and
determining the number of moles of chlorine. The mole ratio of Cu: Cl: H2O gives us the
empirical formula of the

Definition Of Self Regulation Assignment
Self regulation Assignment Manjunath Bhat McMaster University Under the principle of
universality, the standardization of nursing care across the country is important to maintain inter
professional equality and compatibility. This can be achieved by regulating nursing practice
through inter professional collaboration, communication, professional conduct, accountability and
mutual respect (Benton, GonzГЎlez Jurado Beneit Montesinos, 2013). Self regulation assignment
is a tool developed by College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) to promote safe, competent and ethical
nursing care in Ontario. It will assist nurses with professional practice and help them understand the
expectation of entry level practice. It will also ensure that nurses are able to demonstrate the
competencies through Quality Assurance (QA) program (Colleges of Nurses of Ontario, 2014a).
The College regulates the nursing practice through the quality assurance program which has two
parts: self assessment and practice assessment. The purpose of self assessment is to identify
learning needs and develop a learning plan using SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Reliable and Time bound) to meet those learning needs. Through the practice assessment, CNO
regulates the nursing practice by selecting few nurses to participate in the assessment every year.

The Dance Team-Personal Narrative
It was it. Today was the day that all of our hard work and preparation would matter. Weeks of
conditioning and giving up our social lives to train were finally put to work. It was it. It was the
NLL championship track meet. Right from when I woke up the day felt different. My stomach
churned and all I could think about was how much I wanted to win. I could barely eat because my
nerves were nibbling away at me. As I was getting driven to school, I kept picturing my running
strategy in my head. I had two races tonight, the 400 meter dash and the 4x400 relay. Our relay team
had put in hours of work. Our handoffs were now nearly seamless, and we knew tonight was going
to be our run. The rest off the school day went on as typical , but the... Show more content on

My mind was cleared and all I could think off was passing people. Before I knew it, I was halfway
around the track and my coach was screaming Dig! Digggggg!! . I shot myself forward and kept
this pace. Now it was the last straight away, and I gave it all of my energy I had left. Crossing the
finish line felt great, even though I did not race nearly as well as I had wanted to. I was just happy
to be there. Over the announcements soon after I heard that I had gotten seventh overall and I
was very happy. There were so many girls in the NLL and I placed 7th out of all the 400 meter
dash runners. Plus, I always had next year. Now, it was time for the race I was most excited for,
the 4x400. It was the same distance as my previous run, but our relay had a shot of winning the
title of first. We all got in the infield and practiced our handoffs. They had to perfect, seamless
and quick. The difference between a good and bad handoff could cost us first place. Our event
was last, so we cheered on our team as they completed theirs. Looking at the scoreboard so far,
we knew there was no chance we could come back and win with only the few events we had left.
That didn t matter though, because we had to show we don t give up and do what we

  • 3. Language And Imagery In Oedipus The King The language and imagery of the movie all build K s pathos well during the film. When the audience is first shown K s apartment building, they are shown plenty of rugged looking people all staring at K with judgemental glares and mumbling under their breath, all the while anti replicant slang and and imagery are spray painted outside of his apartment and even on his door. It is clear that K (replicants) are not welcome by the general populace of people and are treated much worse than everybody else. The musical score of the movie is excellent, it can move from booming action and explosions to a soft eerie noise that warns of the audience of what is to come. Stop And Frisk Research Racial Discrimination of Stop and Frisk in the NYPD The New York City Police Department stop and frisk impacts thousands of peoples lives everyday, and unfortunately most of the cases involve African American and Hispanic Males, which shows racism is still present in the world we live in today. Prior to speaking about a stop and frisk, one must have general knowledge about what it is and all of its supporting parts. A Stop and frisk occurs when an officer of the law temporarily detains an individual or group of people on the street to question them about the reason or reasons in which they were stopped, and possibly also frisking or searching them for the safety of the officers and the detainees as well. • 5. The Wealth Of Nations By Adam Smith Essay In the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith talks about international trade and subsequent government policies which became increasingly significant throughout modern history. Protectionism is the term for economic policies of restraining trade between countries when they want to protect their domestic industries from foreign competition. Trades nowadays have different forms and methods and involve more businessmen as well as consumers, which is why tradediplomats are looking to regional agreements. The US experienced two major economic declines during the 20th century, both of which had much to do with international trade. Smith mentioned tariffs in the 18th century, but the role and forms of protectionismhave changed across time, so we should know whether the development of economy should actually be correlated with or decided by the political sector of the society and when protectionism will benefit or hurt economy. Main protectionist policies include tariffs, quotas, embargos and voluntary export restraints, and Adam Smith s idea of absolute advantage has been developed further to explain international trade. In recent years, protectionism has become closely related to globalization during which the influences of trades spread almost everywhere, so people insist upon the study of social deformities generated by improper policies on international trade and the task of pointing them out with a view to remedy. There are certainly both economic and political purposes of trade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Fear In The Most Powerful Motivator, By Robert Evans... Fear is a negative word when it comes to mind and an unwanted feeling. It is something that is dangerous, painful, and threatening to us. A lot of people do not think of it as a motivator. In fact, it is the most potent motivator according to Robert Evans Wilson Jr., author of The Most Powerful Motivator. Fearis what keeps us from injuries, alive, provoke fights, and prevent us from making mistakes (Wilson, 2009). Fear as a motivator also is a pain in the ass. In the book March, there were many situations where fear was fought against to obtain equal rights. The African American fear the ongoing racism, and they turned it around and used it as a motivator. Fear is what keeps people brave; One example was at the very beginning of the book before chapter one, it showed a graphic scene of peaceful African Americans marching across a bridge. Hosea asked John, Can you swim? John replied, No. Hosea replied, Neither can I, but we might have to. The Armed police were on the other side yelling to turn around. Instead, they kneel. The cops ended up violently beating them up. In Understanding Comics, Scott talked about emotions through vibrations of the lettering style; it tells an ongoing struggle of sounds. • 7. Book Thief Themes In times of war everything gets destroyed, from countries to lives to culture. Nothing is off limits when someone is willing to go to the extreme to get what they want, no matter who they step on on the way. In Markus Zusak s The Book Thief, readers see the effects of war on the small, fictional town of Molching, Germany during World War II, specifically on that of young Liesel Meminger and her foster parents Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Through the eyes of Death one can relate the themes of war and the censorship of an overrun country with those of extremist groups today who, years later, utilize some of the same methods of control in order to gain power. In late June of 1975, Elisabeth and Helmut Zusak welcomed Markus, their fourth (and last) child into the world. At the time, they had been living in Sydney, Australia, however, both had emigrated from other countries. Both Lisa s native country of Germany and Helmut s native country of Austria were a part of World War II at the time of their living there, which led them to acquire stories that would later on inspire their son to write what is arguably his most lucrative novel, The Book Thief. DEFINITION AND DIAGNOSIS The Orthotics field is often associated with upper limb orthoses, such as an airplane splint, lower limb orthoses, such as AFOs (ankle foot orthosis) and FOs (foot orthosis), or spinal orthoses. However, there are also orthotic devices for other areas of the body, like the head cranial helmets. Also referred to as cranial bands, helmet molding therapy, or cranial orthosis, is a type of treatment where an infant is fitted with a special helmet to correct the shape of the skull (Kieffer). Cranial helmets resemble bicycle helmets in appearance as displayed by Figure 1. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulate a large portion of cranial helmets, similar to other medical devices. Under the FDA, cranial orthoses are categorized as a Class II medical device. A class II devices represent a medium risk category for which FDA establishes that additional special controls are needed to ensure safety and efficacy. Examples of class II devices would include sutures and bone drills (Littlefield). Cranial Helmets are designed and/or fitted by an Orthotist (an allied health practitioner). In the majority of cases, cranial helmets are constructed out of various plastic polymers with a multitude of decorative patterns and colors. The first step of helmet molding therapy is evaluation via measurement. An Orthotist will visually observe the head for ear alignment and facial symmetry. In the past, cranial casts were used to obtain precise measurements. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

James (1920 ) for a book to be described as detective fiction there must be a central mystery and one that by the end of the book is solved satisfactorily and logically, not by good luck or intuition, but by intelligent deduction from clues honestly if deceptively presented. (James. 2009: 16). This is traditionally conducted via a detective; a figure deployed within the narrative structure whose occupation is to investigate crimes (Oxford. 2006: 202). Sandra plays the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy, her character s heart is pure of kindness as she took in Michael Oher, who she knew from the start was full of potential. But due to his skin color, no one thought to believe it. She plays a middle class, average american mom who believed in equality and acceptance. As she had a family of her own, she never failed to leave Michael out of the picture. Her character is very strong and independent, and in my opinion kind of stubborn but for a good cause. As many doubted Michael, Leigh used the kindness of her heart to make sure Michael had a clear road to success, since his own birth mom wasn t capable of doing it herself. This movie was based on a true story which I find astonishing and inspiring. What filled me with anger though is just seeing how people were discriminated, and how many did not stand up to be allies. But Leigh really opened up that passage way to equality that most African American s never really experienced. She put out a clear message that not all white people are cruel and racist. Fun fact: The real Leigh Anne Tuohydid an interview talking about her experience and how it really encouraged many to stand up for what s right, and even the little spontaneous moments can really impact someone s life, in a way you may not understand. It s mindboggling, the 54 year old mother of three says. We realize we do have a mission. We have the opportunity to change lives. If that sounds narcissistic, screw it. Racism is alive and well in this country; we have to learn how to love someone who doesn t look like us. (Tuohy, 2015) She speaks with honesty and confidence, yet many still disagree with equality. Why hate on someone for the stupidest excuses. Because of skin? Eyes? Hair? People can t help the way they look. But they can help the way they are treated. If you don t like the way someone is being treated, be like Leigh Tuohy and stand up. Stop sitting on your butts and speak up. Her clinician uses ISCD diagnostic criteria. How should the scan proceed? If her clinician used WHO diagnostic criteria, would you recommend the same scan procedure? The scan should proceed using the dual femur and the forearm. Her spine would not be the appropriate site to analyze. The dual femur and forearm should be used in this case because she has had surgery at L1 L3. The rods and screws from the surgery, would most likely generate higher T scores and Z scores, which will misdiagnose her analyzation. Moreover, her spine is not a good area to be scanned, due to her surgery. Therefore, the clinician should still use ISCD to generate a diagnosis. If the clinician used WHO I would still recommend using just the dual femur scan. WHO analyzes the femoral neck. Therefore, the forearm would not be needed for analyzation with this particular organization. 30. Remodeling, is when the bone cells dissolve (osteoclasts) and new bone cells grow back (osteoblasts). (www.oseofound.org). However, when osteoporosis has occurred the amount of bone loss increases faster than the growth of new bone. This results in the bones becoming porous, brittle and prone to fracture. There are two types of risk factors that increases the likelihood of developing osteoporosis. The first type is fixed risks and the second type is modifiable risks. Some of the fixed risk factors are age, female gender and body size, family history, ethnicity, and Menopause/hysterectomy. A few modifiable risk factors are poor nutrition, vitamin D deficiency, insufficient exercise, low dietary calcium intake. Age is one leading factors in the development of this disease because bones become thinner as the body ages. Approximately one in two women over the age of 50 will break a bone because of osteoporosis (www.nof.org.). The female gender is another risk factor for developing this disease. Women are more likely to develop this because women tend to have smaller and thinner bones than men (Lane, 2006). Most of you know me and for the ones who do not, I am Mabel Dodge. I am the daughter from a family in Buffalo and had what was considered the best education for girls in the nineteenth century. Instead of going to college, I got married, became a mother and soon, a widow. Later, I traveled abroad and soon married a Boston architect, Edwin Dodge who I later realized the passion I had was no more so I divorced him. I became bored and began to crave art, the beauty and inspiration! A salon in Florence, Italy that I created for the purpose of attracting the most up and coming artists in Europe, had me become well known and even a muse for one of Gertrude Stein s image poems. I reluctantly joined Edwin my husband at the time, who was eager to come back to the United States. I settled in an apartment on the lower Fifth Avenue which most of you have been in for my evenings of controversial debates. What will women do with their new freedom? Not turn evil as many of you would think. Women could create lives for themselves, become economically independent and independent throughout. There are opportunities for women outside of the home. Their rationality is based on the fact that democracy empowers the masses that are able to use this power to fight back and prevent their government from abusing their human rights. Democracy also makes it easier for citizens to report instances of state repression to the international community, thus forcing abusive leaders to either stop the abuses or to renounce their power (Poe Tate, 1994, p. 855 866). In a semi democratic country like Russia, this empowerment of the masses has less strength to significantly prevent state repression, and sometimes the ability to shed light on abuses is difficult since mass media is practically controlled by the abusive government. Similarly, Davenport (1995) argues that democratic governments are less likely to use repression when dealing with mass demonstrations because their nature is to allow expressions of freedom by the citizenry, which they are aware always comes with a level of domestic disorder. This awareness decreases the use of violence against the citizens (p. 690 691). This can be achieved by regulating nursing practice through inter professional collaboration, communication, professional conduct, accountability and mutual respect (Benton, GonzГЎlez Jurado Beneit Montesinos, 2013). Self regulation assignment is a tool developed by College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) to promote safe, competent and ethical nursing care in Ontario. It will assist nurses with professional practice and help them understand the expectation of entry level practice. It will also ensure that nurses are able to demonstrate the competencies through Quality Assurance (QA) program (Colleges of Nurses of Ontario, 2014a). The College regulates the nursing practice through the quality assurance program which has two parts: self assessment and practice assessment. The purpose of self assessment is to identify learning needs and develop a learning plan using SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reliable and Time bound) to meet those learning needs.
